  1. I'm currently a senior at university studying geophysics and oceanography. I do work in GIS, numerical modelling, satellite data analysis, and rudimentary data science programs (RStudio/MATLAB). I also would like to be able to set up a DAC for recording/music editing (I already have a DAC w an XLR input) as well as gaming with my friends from back home. Three of my roommates are big PC enthusiasts who have built multiple PC's before and have agreed to help me w a build and as such I would like to get more into computers while also making one such that I will not need to build/buy another until for a while. Currently I have: a used Corsair 750D 3-4 140mm fans Assorted HDD's from older computers an Optical Drive 5.25' and a multi-card reader 5.25' I plan on getting: Motherboard: ASUS Z390-E CPU: Intel i7 9700k CPU Fan: Corsair H110i (or comprable) GPU: No Idea RAM: 32 GB DDR4 (GIS uses a metric s**tload of RAM) PSU: 450-650W Unit? 1. What GPU should I use? (I can upgrade the GPU later down the road) 2. What is appropriate for PSU wattage? 3. I was curious about running a push-pull setup with the Corsair H110i as a top exhaust. 4. Do I need a sound card for the DAC to run into? I'm sure I'll have other questions. Best Regards
  2. I am looking to build a pc in the Corsair 750D case and was curious if anyone knew what size top radiator was supported? Their website doesn't specify the top size, but instead all radiator support which isn't helpful.
  3. Hi guys, I do not have much knowledge on cameras or lenses. I usually loan cameras. However my accountant told me to buy one. I need advice on Lenses to purchase. I need an all purpose videography setup. I shoot small action adverts, cinematics, documentary vloggy things for private clients/Youtubers. Scenes are outside and inside. All over europe. One day I may be set up in a studio, tripod. The following in paris with a stable mount filming a workout video in the streets. Usually loan a 70D/A7S, they come with great lenses that are worth more than my budget, Soft bokeh, focus pulls etc... Which I still need to achieve. My budget is around £1000 don't going over a little. I have narrowed my search down to the Canon 750D. Amazon do kits. Kit 1: Canon 750D with 18-55mm IS STM and EF 50mm 1.8 STM Kit 2: Canon 750D with 18-135mm I was told the 18-135mm is great for photography but shit for videography(camera salesman) don't trust his opinion. I am open to all options. Excuse my ignorance. Thank you in advance. Links to the kits: Kit 1 Kit 2

My current build. Soon to be upgrading motherboard, cpu and cpu cooler. Ignore the fact the NZXT hue light has dropped slightly, have fixed since this photo.

  5. So, my system build that will begin in 2 weeks will have one 525gb ssd as my C:\ drive and one 1-2tb HDD, I would like to eliminate my HDD cages. I am wondering if 2.5" HDDs will fit in the tool less ssd holders inside my Corsair Obsidian 750D. I don't want to buy one to try, because if they don't, I won't be using 2.5" drives. Thank you.
  6. Hello, friends! As the topic states, i've been watching all the reviews and unboxings, I have been considering my build and I feel like my head is going to explode because I cannot decide on a case. At this point, it has come down to the NZXT H440 or the Corsair 750D (probably the airflow edition). I am having such a hard time deciding because they are all great cases and my issues between them all are so small its just impossible for me to choose. So for the love of science, would someone, or all of you, just tell me what to do. My issues with the 750D: Can't remove the 5.25 bays. redundancy annoys me. No fan filters on the bottom after you remove the drive bays. (I will be using the SSD mounts in the back) It's dated. Issues with the H440: I'd like a bigger window. Possible airflow issues? I don't love the PSU shroud. It's smaller than the 750D. This is going to be the first computer i've ever built, it will be for gaming. Due to money constraints it won't happen straight away but ultimately I want a machine thats going to be able to run 2016 games at 4k or across 3 1440p monitors. A tall order, I know, but it will happen eventually. Point is - expandability. As this is going to be my first build it's going to be a bit of a learning experience and i'm not adverse to being punished for bad cable management in the 750D which is why I don't love the PSU shroud in the H440. That and also I think EVGA's PSUs look kind cool. Another Question I have for you all: Radiators. I will be getting one of EK's AIO CPU liquid coolers, 240 or 360, depending on what you lovelies tell me here. Front mounted radiators: the general consensus (from what i've read) seems to be that they are a bad thing, because why would you want to push that hot air generated by the CPU back into the computer. My limited logic however says that same argument could be made the other way, why cool your CPU with the hot air from your PC? Further more, wouldn't you be better served cooling the CPU with dat phresh room temp air? The reason I want to go front mounted is because EK's radiators are thick and i'd be able to run a push/pull configuration in a 750D with a 240mm rad, and I think (H440 owners pleas confirm this for me, I know you'd be able to do it, but would there be GPU length issues?) a 360 in the front of the H440 in push/pull config. Also for the 750D owners; can you have a rad in the front and still get both fans in the bottom where the drive cages would go? A lot of you will ask if I want to air or liquid cool, as stated, 50/50. I'll be liquid cooling the CPU initially, and would love at some point to expand and liquid cool my GPU but being that this is my first build, i'm keeping it relatively simple. I'm open to everyone suggesting cases other than these two! I just love how clean these cases are. Thanks guys! Can't wait to hear back. Buying my case next week and this decision has been driving me insane.
  7. Hey just a simple question of whether you can swap the corsair 750d AF editions front panel with the front panel of a normal 750d? I was thinking of getting an AF edition but on amazon the price is too high where as the normal 750d seems to be alot less (AF is $150 where the normal is like $95) thanks
  8. Hello everyone, first of all: I have never done such things before but i am sort of a tinkerer, so: I can do this, hold my beer! As much as i love my Corsair 750D ( LTT unboxing on YT ) there are some things that i want to change about it (some time in the future) and two things that really grind my gears: 1 .No matter where i mount the HDD cages, the vibration of the HDD's always gets to the rest of the Case. 2. The HDD-Cages aren´t hotswap and its a real pain to fiddle the cables in whenever u put a drive in. So what i want to do: As you can see in this picture: the HDD-cages are mounted on a plastic socket (if you mount it in the bottom), which is attached to the bottom of the case with some screws. These are actually cupped and i want to put something inside it which works like a shoggysandwich so the cage basically stands on foam. (In theory this should kill the vibrations) Does anyone know what would be the best foam to do this? I guess 3 drives + the cage will be to heavy and simply squeeze a shoggy. For the hotswap: I am trying to find some sort of SATA hotswap module/PCB/adapter which i would simply glue into the back of the cage but its actually pretty hard to find something that is exactly what i want. I found this one but its not really what i want: (just to give you a basic idea) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-202-SV That one is interesstig as well, but: why the heck are there two SATA ins ?(I have seen this on some pictures of HS PCB's too) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-319-SV&groupid=2362&catid=1770 Thx in advance Duck
  9. I'm planning on buying a Corsair 750D but I am still not sure about whether getting the Define R4 would be better. Is it possible to soundproof the 750D and is it worth it? By soundproofing I mean putting some soundproofing foam on the right side panel as it is completely blank and by worth it I mean will it make any difference to noise and cooling.
  10. Hi. I'm planing on a custom loop, and had a question. will a 55mm thick 24 rad and a 64mm thick 280 rad. have clerance problemns in the front and buttom of the corsair 750D. or should I go with a slim line rad in the buttom? the two rads I'm talking about: http://www.ekwb.com/shop/radiators-fans-accessories/radiators/ek-coolstream-rad-xtx-240.html and http://www.ekwb.com/shop/radiators-fans-accessories/radiators/ek-coolstream-rad-xtc-280.html I'm going to have a 360 mm rad in the top. and hopfuly a 140 or 120 mm rad in the back. going all out on cooling BTW. I know it's not at all practical. My rig is allso overkill.but thats what I'm going for I'm runing the system on air right now. and I don't like the tamps. sorry for the bad spelling and wrong uses of words if there are any
  11. I recently bought a new 750D since my old Antek 902 got beaten up really bad during a moving, and now I'm confronted with a mix of a constant low humming sound combined with a pulsating higher pitched humming sound resulting from my WD Caviar black and Samsung Spinpoint F3 apparently resonating in this case. When only plugging in one drive, the Samsung creates a low pulsating hum where the WD gives a constant low buzz ( both things which didn't happen in the 902 ). I've tried replacing either the WD black or the Samsung with a spare WD RED I had but in both cases the extreme resonance returns. I've tried repositioning them, putting the side panels looser or tighter ( the latter one making the noise worse ), but I can't seem to get rid of this resonance between the two drives. Are there any options which work with isolating the HDD's from the cages or even the cages from the case which don't involve putting them in special brackets in the 5.25" bay? Usually some small rubber washers between the bracket and the HDD are supposed to help but in my case the vibrations still reach the cages en resonance is present. Or is it possible that I happen to have two really bad vibrating drives ( the Samsung is about 4 years old, the WD black about 3 ) and only replacing both of them will stop the resonating, since I seem to be one of the only people having these kind of problems with the 750D. Isocadia
  12. so guys, im about to build my first custom loop. here is what im kind of unsure about though. my set up will be roughly the same as the pic with the way the tubing will run and the rads will be placed but with the pump mounted on the rad/fan at the bottom . both the 360mm rad at the top and the 240mm rad at the bottom will be cooled by 120mm noctua 2000rpm fans three for the top rad two for the bottom(. then there will also be two 140 noctua 2000rpm fans at the front of the case and one at the exaust. what i want to know is the best way i should position the fans rads (push, pull, fans on inside or ouside etc) thanks for any help. also i am not using sli it will be one 5930k processor and 1 titan x sc
  13. Hi, Been trying to decide on a case for a new machine I am looking to build. I've watched the videos from Linus and then some on each of the cases, but which is best? - Phantek Enthoo Pro Midi vs Corsair Obsidian 750D vs NZXT 530 / 630? I am looking for: dust filters easy build room for the biggest of graphics cards room for kraken cooled cpu cooler either dual rad or single air cooling on graphics card or cards with standard built in would love for a smaller case atx mobo The 750D It looks quite big, are there any filters on it, it says there are 3, but they just look like grills to me? Looks roomy and easy to work with, has all the cabling, screwless design etc which is nice The Phantek Enthoo pro midi Smaller size (BIG YES) and still looks like it can handle a good few hard drives and a full size graphics card (or can it?) and is easy to build with. Also very nice dust filters. The NZXT 530 / 630 Not sure which is better, 530 or 630, I am leaning towards the 530 as I think it's the newer one and is smaller and has dust filters and the things that we should expect from a good case. Looks it weighs a lot. Is the 530 the same size as the Phantek Enthoo pro midi? Here are my thoughts: Visually I am NZXT, case looks awesome, but it's never going to be seen once under my desk For easiest build I am with the corsair 750D For smaller case and dust filters, I am for the Phantek Enthoo pro midi (is there enough room in this case?) The machine I am looking to build comprises of: EVGA GeForce GTX 780Ti Dual Classified ACX 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (03G-P4-2888-KR) (possibly 2nd when pricess drop) Intel 5930K 3.50GHz (Haswell-E) Socket LGA2011-V3 Processor - Retail (BX80648I75930K) Avexir Platinum 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C16 2400MHz Quad Channel Kit (AVD4U24001604G-4M) Asus X99-A Intel X99 (Socket 2011) DDR4 ATX Motherboard (I may switch this to the X99-S) SuperFlower Leadex Platinum 1000W Fully Modular "80 Plus Platinum" Power Supply - Black NZXT KRAKEN X41 Complete Water Cooling - 140mm BitFenix Spectre PRO 120mm/140mm White LED - Black fans Samsung 32D850D 32" Widescreen LED Professional/Gaming Slim Bezel Monitor - Black (to join my 1080p HD TV 40" and Dell WFP 30" I have 2 x SSD and 3 x WD HDs already and a Blue Ray R/W drive which will coming out of this machine. It will be primary a work machine (Programming and Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop, Flash, InDesign and After Effects) It will also be my entertainment system and gaming machine. What's your thoughts people, which case would fit all that in? have smallest form factor, good air flow, easy build and not require me to invest in newer smaller hands?
  14. Hello, This topic contains a liquid CPU cooling question as well as an opinion between two cases so here goes : I would like to get a new case since I do not like my old one. I am currently using air cooling, do not plan on going to liquid cooling since it is not as available as it could be in my region (the blocks pumps reservoirs etc.). I have dual 780ti's and a Seidon 120XL for cpu cooling. I used HAF X but unfortunately my brother took it away from me . Now I am leaning towards a Corsair 750D or 760T for the looks but I've got airflow questions for both. Before I leap on to my questions regarding the cases, I would like to ask, while using a 280mm CPU liquid cooler like for example a Corsair H110, how should I adjust the fans? Do I need to attach it to the top of my case (I know front is an option but I want fresh air to benefit my GPU as well from the front), as fans pulling air from outside or pushing air to outside? I always liked to use top fans as exhaust for certain reasons and I would pretty much have top fans as exhaust. With my Seidon 120XL, it is mounted on the rear with 2 fans and the radiator in the middle and I've mounted it as shown here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBLsCjcI04Y I believe the first fan(closer to the cpu) is pushing air through the radiator to the other fan, which is blowing the air OUT of the case. Is this a proper or optimal mounting for a liquid CPU cooler fan/radiator? As for my questions with cases; For 750D, Is front intake really a serious issue? Doesn't it have dents in the side so fresh air can enter? I know it is limited but if you are using one, how many degrees overall on MOBO, CPU or GPU differ with the cover on and off? Would it be okay to use a CPU cooler like I currently use (Seidon 120XL) with the method I use as explained before and add two exhaust fans to the top with this case, if the front intake is good? (and perhaps add another intake fan to the bottom of the case instead of 1 HDD Drive Cage.) For 760T, Is the top completely obstructed from the panel? Can I keep the panel AND use top fans as exhaust? Also my question for 280mm Radiator/Liquid CPU cooler like H110 Corsair that I asked for 750D applies here as well. If you can enlighten me with your KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCES with both cases, airflow expertise AND/OR liquid cpu cooling (not complete liquid cooling but just the cpu coolers like corsair/coolermaster ones I've talked about) I would be more than happy! Thank you for your time and interest!
  15. Hi. I'm in the planing stages of watercooling my system. and not a 100% sure how I should go about mounting the res and pump optimale in my 750D. specs are: cpu: i7 5960x Mobo:: assus x99 deluxe GPU msi gtx 980 g4 gaming. psu: corsair axi 1200W CASE: CORSAIR 750 D Going to cool just the CPU and GPU*s I have decided on a thick 280mm rad in the front and a thick 360mm in the top. Going to have a D5 pump. and I'm not sure about wich res to go with. all the watercooling components are going to be from EKWD. apart from the coolent, that is going to be mayhems. Look at the picture. this is how to system is curently. (I'm going to take the HDD cage out and put the to HDD's in a NAS) AND yes I know that the PSIe powerkabels are a mess!!) any advice, tips or sugestions are more then welcome.
  16. Needs some tips on where i could put some cathodes in a Corsair 750d. I also wanted to see some examples or thoughts on how i could hide the wires plus adapter. Oh I am trying to hide the lights so its not to hard on the eyes.
  17. Hello, This is my first post on the forum (yay me). I have been lurking for a few days and thought that maybe some of y'all could give me some helpful suggestions. I am currently using a Cooler Master Elite 430 (got the cheapest/decent looking case I could get) and am looking to upgrade it. I was thinking a Corsair 750D, NZXT Source 530 (friend of mine got this case and it is just a really nice case for the price) or the Phanteks Enthoo Pro/Luxe (saw Linus's review and he was raving about the Pro). The reason I want to upgrade the case is that : 1) Would like to add a Corsair H100i (or an equivalent cooler) 2) Room to actually move around when I am adding/changing components 3) Looks. So currently I am leaning towards the 750D because it looks classy, has plenty of room for fans, cpu cooler, small custom loop, SSD mounting tray on the back, cable management. The thing I have been hearing about the 750D is that it doesn't have enough ventilation in the front where you would install the intake fans, does anyone know of this actually being a problem or more nitpicking? Would love to hear what y'all think and would be open to other suggestions (mainly Full Towers). My components are an i5-2500k (stock), AMD Radeon HD 6950 (looking to upgrade once the 300 series from Radeon comes around) Cooler Master V6 GT, 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP RAM and 2 120GB SSDs, Corsair TX850 (overkill, planned on going for 2x 6950s).
  18. Hi I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the 170 photon reservoir with DDC pump. I'm debating how its going to mount in my corsair 750D case. Here is the link for the pump/res: http://www.xs-pc.com/water-pumps/ddc-photon-170-reservoirpump-combo I also want to know how people go about mounting these tube reservoirs in cases, as there are no official instructions I'm guessing it's just a modding where it fits thing. I would get a dual bay res but I have a blu-ray drive that I don't want to lose, I also like the look and accessibility of a tube res. Here is a pic of what I have mounted in the bottom corner of my case: Also anyone have any general thoughts or recommendations on the kit I might be going for: http://www.xs-pc.com/watercooling-kits-ddc-pump/raystorm-ddc-photon-rx360-v3-watercooling-kit System specs just in case: i7 2600k G1 gaming gtx 970 from gigabyte ASRock Z77 pro 4 motherboard 16GB of corsair vengeance ram Corsair 750D case Etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
  19. I'm planning on building a new system but the most difficult decision to be made seems to be the case. I have always been in loved with the 750D and it appeared to be the perfect chasis. But I just read it has serious airflow problems because of the restricted front intake. Is that true 750D owners? Should I buy the 760t then? Thanks in advance!
  20. Hey everyone! I'm about to do my first loop. I wouldn't of been able to afford this in Canada, but I found an old buddy who can hook me up with parts. I'm using PETG, with a soft tube drain. Are all of these parts compatible? I'm only doing a CPU loop, as I plan to upgrade the reservoir tube (~$16), and SLI 980's and add them to the loop 'soon'. Will also be upgrading monitors 'soon'. 21. Hello again, I would like to know what case fans I should buy for my new rig and what size. some of the specs are: case corsair 750D, r9 290 vapor-x and an i7 4790k. What case fans should I buy? I am looking for a LOT of airflow, since the 750D cant do well enough on its own. Tell me your opinions and thank you for your time
  22. I didn't know where to post this since it connects with water cooling. So whats the difference between static pressure and air flow? is one better than the other? I plan on getting a 750D with a Corsair H110 and an NZXT Kraken G10, i'm replacing the H110's fans with Noctua F12s but as for the other slots of the case that won't be mounted with radiators, what type of fan do i use? intake and exhaust.
  23. For the last year or so, I've been using a Cooler Master Elite 431+. It's served me pretty well, and for a $50 case, I can't complain all that much. However, I have a LOT of stuff crammed in here, and this tiny little mid-tower case just isn't cutting it anymore, so it's time to upgrade. As it stands right now, I have a rat's nest of wires, and want something with ample cable management and room for plenty of hardware (plus expandability for the future). This has me looking at the 750D and the Urban T81 for several key reasons: They're large enough, without going full-on 900D size (which is a bit too big to fit under my desk) They both have a very clean aesthetic Both have removable hard drive cages and can support plenty of HDD's (I currently have 3x 3.5" HDD's, 1x 2.5" HDD, and one 2.5" SSD in my rig Both have plenty of cable management space behind the motherboard tray (1"+ on both, if I remember correctly) Windowed side panels Ample water cooling compatibility (not a current issue, but I would like to water cool my rig in the future) Lots of airflow (especially in the Thermaltake). I like my components to run cool. I definitely like how the Corsair looks a lot more, but the Thermaltake has the advantage of a door to cover the 5.25" bays. The TT case is also about $50 more expensive. So, my question for you guys is which case do you think I should get? The Corsair? The Thermaltake? Something else entirely? I'm open to suggestions about other cases, so feel free to turn my attention to something else. Thanks in advance for the help!
