I have a newly built pc with a 7.1 Surround Sound Box for audio. I have 3 amps plugged into it (Front, Side and Rear). I configured the sound in playback device settings, and surround sound worked fine during that. But when I try to use surround sound to watch YouTube, etc., only the speakers connected to the front speakers port does anything. Can’t seem to make it use the other speakers as well. Any ideas?

I use a logitech 5.1 speaker system paired with another logitech 2.1 speaker system to achieve 7.1 audio on my z77a-g45 motherboard. With both speaker systems there are 4 plugs total. Would I be able to use my current setup to achieve 7.1 with this sound card?

Hi everybody, I am currently using a Razer Tiamat 7.1 for 5years almost 6, so far i have never had any kind of problem, i mean i had one but i got over it, ear cushions had a lot of use and needed to change them and doing that was kind of a problem since razer does not sell them. Now i am having some problems with my mic, people who i am playing / talking to hear me fine but for a few seconds the mic gets really bad and people dont understand what i am saying. I have looking for a new headset to buy, will take my time to buy it since i am getting a speedlink clip on from a friend and will do the job just fine. I want a headset with a good sound ( 7.1 preferably ) and wireless ( always wanted one of these). My budget goes up to 150$-170$. Thanks everybody for reading this , and sorry for the wasted time. Cheers!

Hi guys, I need your opinion about these headsets. Razer Kraken 7.1 USB and Razer Kraken 7.1 USB Chroma I want to know is there any difference between these 2 headset except Chroma light. Do these headsets break easy, what is their quality, do earcups fit over ears because I want that and is their microphone good for using in CS GO, Skype, Discord and etc. Sound is really good what I can see from other forums. I don't want to hear on only right side because of bad cable or quality so give me your experience, pros and cons and some advice. Thanks!!!

So I bought myself a Vizio sb3851, which is a Soundbar with a wireless Sub and two rear speakers (aka 5.1 surround sound). Thought I doing 5.1 surround sound which using HDMI-ARC (from the hdmi, through the tv, and into the sounbar). Found out that using HDMI ARC wasn't giving me real surround sound, just a fake surround sound that Vizios technology gave me. I did some research online and it said that there are two ways of getting surround sound out of a PC. One is using an optical cable (which I used from my port on my z87 maximus vi formula motherboard) to connect to the Soundbar, and wham.... Surround sound. Not really... The PC recongized this as surround sound, but my speakers were only playing throught the soundbar (aka front right and left) and the sub. Did more research and found that using optical cables will not play uncompressed 5.1 The other method was supposed to be using an HDMI cable to connect the GPU and the Soundbar directly. Unfortunately my HDMI port on my GTX 1080 is being occupied to power the 4k TV. I tried using a displayport to HDMI adapter, hoping one way another it would work. It did not help in relaying audio, or displaying 4k @ 60hz. I realized then, that I have a left over GTX 770 that I could use as a physix card, and this might be able to act as my hdmi audio. And... it is still not working. (The GTX 770, though recognized by the PC, is not showing up as an audio device). Does anyone have an other solutions? Else, any recommendations on soundcards?

I was watching that Steelseries pulled out a new range of headphones, the Arctis, in which they are the Arctis 3, 5 and 7. According to the brand they say that it has the same speakers as the high-end, for example the SIberia 600 but the difference is it has 40mm drivers. With regard to the microphone implemented the "Clearcast" bidirectional microphone, which in my opinion is quite decent, and that is why I thought it could be a very recommended option. Beyond the sound also has a new type of material on the band and earcups with more comfort to have long days of play with a material based on athletic apparel. What do you think?

I've had my STRIX 7.1 headset for awhile now and it's worked perfectly fine. After I built my PC and switched from my laptop the mic quality degraded and so I decided to update the drivers to the ones on the Asus site. After doing this the device stopped working. The lights will not turn on and I can't hear any audio however Windows shows that the device is fine and outputting the audio. I reverted the drivers back to the previous state and the device did not return to working. It still does not light up or output audio even though Windows shows it does. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Hi again and sorry for my terrible english. I know, I know this is an old question but im new with desktop pc ( I play years with gaming laptops), so I read on a lot of forums about the 3.5mm audio headsets and the usb 5.1 or 7.1 headsets, some people say with a good audio card the 3.5mm its better and other says the USB are more powefull. My MOBO have an good audio card ( ASUS MAXIMUS IMPACT VII https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS-VIII-IMPACT/ ) or so it says on the website. So can this sound card can defeat a good 7.1 headset?

So I've got a bit of a janky setup. I've "custom" built my own 7.1 setup using a Logitech x-530 5.1 speaker set plugged into my mobo, and used another 2.1 Logitech set I had in the unused side speaker slot. It works fine, but the BASS speaker for the 2.1 set has a terrible clicking noise I would very much like to fix. I'm wondering if it's an amp issue because the sound from the side speakers seems quieter than the 5.1 set. Also, I have a FiiO olympus (external usb dac) that I use for my headphones, and that suffers from a very similar noise which in my research I have been told is a power issue as well. My mobo is an MSI Z77A-G45 powered with an OCZ 550w fatal1ty psu. I've tried using a different Logitech 2.1 speaker set with no change. Do I just need to go for a soundcard? I've never shopped for an internal one before so what should I look for? Thanks in advance

Which headphones should I get. I want an 80 dollar headset with a mic. 7.1 Audio and wireless would also be nice. I looked at the Logitech g930, but some people seem to say that they break quickly. I also looked at the SteelSeries Arctis 3 and the Turtle Beach - Stealth 350VR. They both impressed me. Are there any other ones I should consider?

OK. Disclosure: I know I'm right. I'm just trying to figure out how to tell my stubborn friend that he drank the kool-aid and doesn't know what he's talking about. Unfortunately, my rational arguments have fallen on deaf ears and he's moved on to insulting and trolling, indicating that the discussion phase of the argument is over. He's trying to convince me that multi-speaker headsets, like the Turtle Beach AK-R8 or the Zalman ZM-RS6F, impart directionality information of the sound to each ear independently. He says, "our ears pick up on real sounds differently than synthetic positioning. If I didn't give you any visual cues with a 2-channel headset and had a synthetic sound play behind to your right, you wouldn't be able to tell exactly where it was coming from. Conversely, if I had real surround sound in a room or like with ANY one of those headsets I just mentioned, you would be able to tell exactly where it's coming from because of the way the sound reflects off the shape of your ears, your brain already knows what it's doing with this." and , "Yes, with 5 speakers for each ear, the shape of your ear and the location of the speaker (for that particular ear cup) is what imparts directionality of the sound." The Horror... The Horror.... I'm trying to argue that multiple speaker 5.1 or 7.1 surround headsets use technology to trick your brain (sometimes very well) into thinking that this virtual surround is actual surround. This is done through complex sound imaging by the game or by the sound card. One ear covered by one ear cup cannot provide significant sound direction. It it not at all like 5 speakers and a sub in a large room. By putting on an around-the-ear headset, you isolate each ear and reduce your input to 2 channel: one for each ear. Therefore, sounds must be provided to each ear with varied echo, volume, delay (latency), and other processing in order for your brain to think that you're in a surround environment. People with severe unilateral hearing loss have terrible spacial audio perception. Kids with unilateral hearing loss, for example, cannot play Marco Polo after taking their hearing aid out to get in the pool. If his argument were true.... A pair of these 5.1 surround headsets would impart magical audio to their single ear during a game to let them hear the directionality of the sound. I didn't even get into discussing sensorineural vs bone conduction on this one.... What do I do or where can I have him read to help show him that 5.1 surround headsets must use virtual surround from either the game or the sound card to provide the much-loved directionality Battlefield 1?

My Kraken that is about 2 years old started making weird noises when the bass hits hard. I have bass boost on the maximum. sound is only noticeable when i put the video volume up to about its half. also noticeable in games. I've tried switching usb ports, that seemed to work at first but when i stopped and resumed the music, it started it again. Synapse updated to the latest version Thanks in advance

hi there, so out of recommendation previously i got the sennheiser GAME ONE open back headset and they work great dont get me wrong but its been quite hard setting up the surround sound on them on games like Rust and Overwatch. I have Realtek driver utility and Soundblaster cinema 2 running and thats just where it gets complicated since there are also options in both games to set up. how do i set up the best surround experience on these utilities? i have tried setting 7.1 on the realtek ones and windows settings and soundblaster and in game(4 different options) but i find it easy to locate gunshots but not foot steps they are way way way too quite and some gunshots sound sputtered(double echoed) if they are behind me. >.< im just trying to get some good surround here lol... otherwise this was a waste of a buy im all ears. (edit) youtube videos sound muffled and quite.

So I just finished building my rig, freshly installed windows 10 and I have problem with my speakers. I'm using a Logitech X530 speaker set and it's 5.1. My mobo is an MSI B350M gaming pro carbon with Realtek ALC1220 audio chipset (and audio boost 4.0) that supports 7.1 and has 6 outputs: S/PDIF( not my concern) and 5 3.5mm audio ports. I am plugged into 3: Line in, Line out and Mic in. The windows is 64 bit, all drivers installed. The problem is that only 2 front speakers work when I test them with windows. I was told I should look into the realtek software but I haven't got one, only something called realtek high definition drivers which is not a program. Any idea why it's not working?

Hi Guys So I just purchased the HyperX Cloud 2 Headset and started to play CS:GO. But in the CS:GO audio options 5.1 doesn't show up. I've enabled surround in sound settings and I've enabled it on my remote for the headset. Can someone help me? (btw. I don't need to know that 5.1 is fake and all that stupid shit)

Hi LTT! I always used a Gaming Headset and mine are starting to fall down so I am looking if it's time to upgrade to a real pair of headphones instead (Not spending thousands on this nonono max a few houndreds in total), Here's the thing, I am currently using a Logitech G633 and I've always had the 7.1 surround sound activated on it since the start, and I don't know if it's bad or good but I like it honestly, Maybe because that's all I heard since I got them? If I now would pick up a "normal" pair of headphones, I assume I just will get stereo speakers since there is no software to simulate 7.1 surround sound, will this be "bad"? Currently it's just as easy as this for me to active this 7.1 sound (Is it better to just play stereo?) In my eyes shouldn't a virtual 7.1 sound help you identify where the enemy is faster around the map since this will kinda help you a bit to locate where exactly the enemy is, Or is this completely wrong? I would appreciate any kind of answers and suggestions and info about stereo vs 7.1 With my best wishes

I'm looking for new headphones. I was thinking about RMAing my current ones(Logitech G930s) as the right ear piece's audio was cutting out, but then the right ear piece's hinge connector broke, so I doubt RMAing then now would do any good. Price really isn't a factor since I can save up for them, but I would like to keep it $250 to $300, although, I am looking at possibly going for the Razer Tiamat 7.1s lol. Anyway, what I would like is: Sturdy - I.e. able to withstand constant movement and constant taking on and off of my head. I sometimes pull them off my one earbud. I know, I know, I'm bad! I know this is what ruins headphones easily. I don't ALWAYS do it, but I do it more than rarely. It's a habit... Surround Sound - I watch movies and videos, so I would like immersion, hence the want for 7.1. I also play a lot of games, so the 7.1 for FPS or TPS would be great. Microphone - I voice call with friends, would like to talk back lol, although, if you can suggest a cheap($100-$150) but good table mic, I might consider going with not microphoned headphones. LONG cables or wireless - I play VR. If the cables are long that's fine, but if I'm not going to get more than six feet out of them, then please suggest either an extention cord which would make the total length of the wires around 16 feet(Around the length of a VIVE's cord I think), or wireless. So that's all I can think of right now. Thanks in advance~
