I would like to know for thinking of useing in build

I am unsure which card to pick between the two of these cards. I like the quietness and cooling of the sapphire card but hate the aesthetic of it and i like the aesthetic of the windforce card but this comes at the cost of worse cooling and quietness. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have been researching which R9 290 to get for a while now and now I want to get either the Gigabyte Windforce one or the Sapphire Tri-X one but I can't decide! They are the same price in my area so price isn't a factor here. I know the Gigabyte one is OC at 1040 MHz whereas the Sapphire Tri-X is OC at 1000 MHz but does is the 40 MHz gonna make a big difference? And which one is better for over clocking. These are the factors I'm looking at in no particular order (but probably performance is the most important): 1. Performance 2. Temperatures 3. Noise 4. Overclockability. Any recommendations? Thanks!

NCIX: http://bit.ly/LJUPkT Amazon: http://georiot.co/1KNu Gigabyte's R9 290X is the best one we've yet tested. It appears to use a modified PCB and DEFINITELY uses a very strong non-reference cooler. It's still not a GTX 780 Ti, and with AMD card pricing inflated due to what mining powerhouses they are, I'm not sure that this card makes sense compared to the competition at that price point... But this one definitely puts up a better fight than our reference R9 290X!

It looks like PNY took ASUS's red stripe design and painted those yellow and slapped it onto a Gigabyte Windforce X2 cooler. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133495 EDIT: I think this should be in General Discussion... sorry mods, please move it there for me if you think it belongs there.

I'm buying a new graphics card and I've decided to get the Gigabyte's GTX 760 OC Windforce card. The place that I'll be buying the card is selling the Revision 1 and Revision 2 of the same card with the same price. I was just going to get the Revision 2 straight away without thinking about it, but apparently some people are saying that the Revision 2 of the card actually has quite noticeable temperature difference in comparision. (10 centigrade worse on the new revision) Even though the card according to Gigabyte is only supposed to be a black PCB instead of the blue one and have a metal fan shroud instead of a plastic one. Anyone have any better information about this? I'm unable to find any solid information about the subject. Thanks in advance!

Hello I'm new to overclocking and am wondering if anyone could help me overclock my Windforce 780. I've got an Corsair CS650M Modular 80 Plus Gold Power Supply. Any other information needed feel free to ask Thanks Anoobis

I've always assumed the 450W slogan for Ggiabyte's windforce style coolers to be the amount of HEAT power dissipated by the cooling array, and not the amount of power required by the Graphics card. After all, the reference 770 uses around 230W of power, so how could this card suck up so much more? Granted they are overclocked but that can only do so much in terms of power consumption. I've seen a few answers on new egg Q/A in which people have recommended a higher power supply based on the 450W rating. Does anyone else have any input that will hopefully clear the mist?

Is this card good enough for some battlefield series and such? Will it be longlasting? Or will I have problems running those tipe of games a year from now? Should I wait for the 800 series? Thanks in advance.

So, I looked for the answer to my question in the forums before posting, so hopefully I didn't just miss it entirely, or it's just no here. Sorry if this has already been asked... I have been looking to update my system's GPU, from an XFX 5970 Black Edition Dual-GPU card, ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150460 ) to something a little more modern. Especially since I have really only recently been getting into BF, and BF4 is pretty beast, I want something to run it with Mantle, so I have been throwing around the idea of either one R9 290x from Gigabite, or 2 R9 270x cards (4GB models) from the same company. I know diminished returns will come up somewhere, but my question is this: will the two R9 270x cards in crossfire out-perform the singular 290x? And is it worth it? The price of 2 of the 270x cards together is less than a single 290x. Plus, who doesn't want 8GB of GDDR5 in there? Here are the pages for the cards I'm considering: R9 270x (X2) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125496&cm_re=270x_windforce-_-14-125-496-_-Product R9 290x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125499&cm_re=290x_windforce-_-14-125-499-_-Product Any info or opinions would be greatly appreciated, as long as it is constructive, please. If you want to know what system these will be going in, the info is in my signature below.

Hey guys, I have a little bit of a first world problem right here. Since I bought a new CPU cooler (CM hyper 212 evo....cant say how good it is performing, as my cpu is sent in atm haha) the loudest part in my rig is now my Gigabyte GTX 780 Windforce Ghz edition. Is there any way I can make this card quieter (and not run extremly hot)? I want this because if I can achieve this I could actually enjoy the sound of my games, which would be a really nice thing to do. Also, since I dont have my cpu atm, I can only collect suggestions and not execute them, that should be doable next week or so.. thanks, LoLlYdE

System specs: - Win 7 - Intel Core i5 4670K 4x 3.40GHz So.1150 BOX - 2048MB Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 Windforce 3x OC - ASRock Z87 Pro3 Intel Z87 So.1150 Dual Channel DDR3 ATX Retail - 650 Watt Super Flower Golden Green HX Non-Modular 80+ Gold - 8GB (2x 4096MB) Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 Hi! I've recently put together a new pc. It worked fine for 2 weeks but now I've started having problems. Problems: - When I play 1-2 hours or run heaven benchmark I get this: display driver stopped responding and has recovered. (2-3 second black screen, clocks drop and then everything goes back to normal and after a while same thing happens again) - Last time I run furmark I got this: the nvidia opengl driver lost connection with the display driver due to exceeding the windows time-out limit and is unable to continue. the application must close. Error code 7. - I also noticed that in gpu-z bus interface changed from pci-express x16 to x4. (this happened after I reseated my gpu). Gpu was already crashing before this change. Things I've tried: - reseated everything (gpu, cpu, memory) - microsoft tdr fix (changed to 8 from default 2) - nvidia control panel: prefer maximum performance (power management mode) and single display performance mode. Vsync. Physx settings from autoselect to gpu and cpu. - using different memory slots. - default cpu and gpu clocks - updated bios - updated drivers (also tried older and beta nvidia drivers) - reinstalling windows - 10 passes in memtest86 and 0 errors - intelburntest max stress 20 times (passed) and x264 25 times (passed) - downclocking memory and gpu - installed windows updates - power options: high performance (link state power management: off) - adding 12mv voltage to gpu - increasing power limit (gpu) - checked for visible hardware faults Gpu temps are max 74C at load and cpu about 65C (IBT max 75C). So far the only thing that has made a difference is changing my gpu power limit to 65%. This way heaven benchmark doesn't crash but core clock runs at 1175-1200mhz (normal max boost 1241mhz) and it limits voltages to max 1.15V (default 1.2V). I tried 70% also (voltage limited to 1.175V) but it crashed after 30min or something and I noticed from sensors that at the crashing moment voltages spiked to 1.2V. I also noticed that when running furmark at 100% power limit. It says that my core clock runs at 1215mhz but when I change powerlimit to max 111% (furmark gpu power: 90% tdp) core changes to my normal max boost clock 1241mhz and crashes after a while. I have no idea what to do or try anymore. I don't wanna play with 60% power limit because everything is new and should be working 100%. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, I'm planning to get an R9 280x and I'm not sure which one to get, I can't decide between the Asus Directcu ii edition, the Gigabyte Windforce edition and the Sapphire Toxic edition. From what I've heard they're all good cards but the Sapphire and Gigabyte ones are louder than the Asus one however they are clocked higher. Is there any performance difference between them and if so is it worth spending more on the Asus one? If anyone owns the Gigabyte/Sapphire ones could you tell me if they are annoyingly loud please. Which one do people prefer? Thanks in advance

I'm building a new rig and wanted to know if this makes sense and will there be any major bottle necks or compatibility issues... MoBo- ASUS M5A99FX PRO RAM- Corsair Vengeance 1x8GB PSU- Corsair AX860 GPU- two 290x in crossfire Can't choose between SAPPHIRE TRI-X OC or GIGABYTE WINDFORCE is it just down to aesthetics? CPU-AMD FX-8350 From what I understand Mantle will allow me to use high end GPUs with a mid-range CPU and not have a bottle neck? Does that make sense or have I been lead astray? I don't plan to overclock at first because I'm going to use the rig for mining 24/7 for the next couple of months. Later on when I'll use it for gaming I plan on overclocking and using a Corsair H80i. Case- Thermaltake Chaser MK-1 With two 290x s I'm wondering if I should even bother with a case? Thanks in advance.

I have a hard time choosing a R9-270 from a bunch of vendors. MSI, ASUS, and Gigabye, I like the gigabyte one because of the dual power connector, might be able to deliver more current to the gpu for better over clocking, but the MSI unit featured the twin frozer IV cooler, which is nice. http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R9-270-GAMING-2G.html#overview http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4840#ov which one should i get? i want to OC it until on par with or surpasing the 270x i want maximum OC which is better twin frozer or windforce 2x in cooling performance? noise is minor concern does dual connector really affects OC? its even better if there is any direct benchmark on this 2 cards sorry for bad english skills

So here on the graphics card section of the forums I've noticed loads of threads comparing coolers asking which is best, so I decided it would be a cool addition to have a community poll to see which graphics cards have the best performance and quiet coolers so here it goes! Please vote accordingly to your personal experiences or benchmarks you've seen, if I have missed out any coolers please tell me. Please don't suggest custom loops etc, this poll is to see the best GPU Cooler that comes with a card.

For next gen games at 1440p what would you recommend? I am from the UK and can currently get the 780 for £383.98 => 2x 780 for £767.96. I would need to wait for the 3rd party cooler on the 780Ti but for reference a stock cooler the prices are around £540-£555. Thanks.

Hi everyone! I have just finished my second personal build and my first liquidcooling build. It's been a work in progress for three moths now, not all the components are new, as my very first build was just over one year ago now and I didn't feel the need to replace all of the components so I just carried them over from my old system. The components that where carried over are the motherboard (asus maximus v formular), cpu (intel 3770k) and RAM (corsair XMS 2000mh/z DDR3). The new components are the WD red drive, samsung 128gb 840pro, NZXT HUE lighting and 2xtitans in sli (windforce editions). This first picture was the first of the new components that I bought, I bought them both at the same time and they turned out to be the things that caused me the most trouble. I took them out of the package, ran them for an hour to see if they were defective and they both worked fine so as I bought the windforce editions, once I had done that, I took them out to replace the stock cooler to the windforce cooler. This was before I had got my new case, ssd or hard drive so the next pic is of them both in my old system, I had spent a good month or so sleeving all the cables in my old system and I did go on to use the same psu in my new system as sleeving takes a very long time! I also decided to start sleeving during my GCSE exams which was probably a bad idea As you can see my old HAF case wasn't the nicest looking case in the world. later that night I was playing Far Cry 3 and my system crashed, I hadn't overclocked the graphics cards yet so I wasn't expecting it. I tried to reboot my computer but it did nothing at all, I knew that something had to be shorting out and I thought it was probably my cables. after about an hour of trouble shooting, I finally tired taking out the bottom graphics card and the system turned on. I came to the conclusion one of my titans was dead, after a lot of swearing and hitting things, I looked at the warranty and it did cover replacing the cooler. I took it back to scan the next day, they confirmed it was defective and sent it off for a replacement, while I was there, I bought my new case which is a corsair 540d and the HUE lighting. The next pic is of the graphics card config I was running while I was waiting for the replacement and what it looked like when I transferred everything over to the new case. As you can see, not the most optimal configuration. five weeks later after calling scan ten times and emailing gygabyte I finally got a replacement titan sent, I went to pick it up from scan and this was when I bought the 128gb samsung 840pro. I checked the replacment was working and then replaced the cooler and installed it into my system, finished sleeving the extra pci-e power cables that I needed going from the 690 to titan sli and then installed it into my system and this was the configuration I was running for about two month before I decided to liquid cool a few weeks ago. As I said before, I recently decided to liquidcool a few weeks ago but I didn't do it all in one go, I first bought the res (phobya 150 black nickel), rads (EK-CoolStream 40mm PE 360 & 240), tubing (Clear primochill) and the SP120 QE fans. I fitted what I could of the cooling at the time as I only had half the components. I had to bend the right brive bag in order to fit the tripple rad in the front, meaning I moved the ssd to the back compartment of the case. two weeks later, I had the money to get the rest of the components. I got the cpu block (EK Supremacy Nickel frosted plexi glass) , gpu blocks (EK-Titan-SE Acetal + Nickel clear plexi glass), Backplate (EK titan SE black backplate), Pump (Alphacool D5 variable speed), pump top (EK D5 X TOP), EK Blood red premix, 6x phobya Compression fittings, 4x phobya 90 degree fitings, 4x phobya 45 degree fittings and a few dust filters. As soon as I got back, I began the 4 hour fitting stage. I began by fitting the pump top and then installing the pump into the case using good old velcro. I then cracked on with the graphics card waterblocks, I took a few "glamour shots" of all my old air cooler for the titans while I was fitting the waterblocks. Windforce cooler close ups. Reference titan cooler close up. GTX 690 close up. days of air coolings past. The waterblocks took about 40 mins each as I cut out all thermal pads for the 24 memory chips separately but other than that, installation was easy, nice instruction from EK! I then installed the CPU block which was again very easy to do and finished all my tubing runs. I unplugged everything but the pump from the psu, layed down some newspaper and started to fill the loop. All went well, now leaks but lots of air bubbles which took a very long time to get out as I had everything in the least optimal position for getting air bubbles out (triple rad was upside down and I was using the inlet as an outlet on the cpu block so no runs crossed over). I did eventually get all the bubbles out and then left it on overnight to leak test. woke up, nothing had leaked so I powered on the system and everything was A OK! I managed to get my titans upto 1084mh/z and +400mh/z on the memory in game thanks to gpu boost 2.0 which gave me a 13% performance increase in heaven vs my air cooled overclock and this performance increase was about 10% in game. However the performance increase isn't the best bit of watercooling, it was the noise difference. I'm running all my fans at 800rpm and getting temps of 60C max on the top gpu and 55C max on the bottom gpu even with this massive overclock. I'm also able to run the pump at 50% speed and still get great flow, this all adds upto me hardly being able to hear it. It looks sick too, in the night shot above it comes off a lot darker then it actually is so I'll try and get a better night shots with a better camera soon. The 3770k I have isn't a very good overclocker, with the RAM running at 2000mh/z, I'm able to get it upto 4.2gh/z@1.185v but that's as high as it goes with temps at about 70C. The only issue I have is the 90 degree at the bottom doesn't look that great at the tubing comes out at a funny angle to it so I'm going to be replacing it with a 45 degree soon. I'm sorry that the pics aren't of the best quality, I took them on my phone and wasn't planning to do a build log so I'll upload some "glamour shots" taken with a better camera to this thread soon! Also, I'll upload some screen shot of overclocks, benchmark results and in game fps when I get time.

I have a Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 770 2GB Windforce X3 and I wanted to know if there was a backplate for it. The card has a more than slight sag to it and I love the look of a backplate. Thanks!
