Hello, So i got a little problem here... so i got like an virus once (actually it was yd) then ofc i formated the whole system because i couldnt deal with virus (it didint let me open any firewall or AV i got at hand nor could open google or search in google engine cuz of weird captcha) . Now i am on fresh install but i am not sure if i should use combofix just in case. Also i used combination of comodo + avira and avast + zone alarm both failed. The way i got the virus was from pop uping sites that were trigger on clicking some part of webpage via left mouse button. Then page said error and to leave it (ofc you click it you got faster virus, you stay you got it too). So what i did in that case was force closing google chrome via task manager but that didint solve the case and my system got infected. Is there anyway to prevent such thing to happen thrice? (i know that you will say about common sense but lets be real, common sense alone will not be enough in this times) Also, programs such as Hitman pro (trial), spybot are worth trying?( i am planning to get bitdefender too) and i heard about watchguard https dunno what is that thing nor could find good information about it xd. Thx for answers and cheers!

So, I've just been hit by a virus. I even know why. I installed a dodgy "text pack" which I shouldn't have, and the program encrypted nearly all my files on the computer demanding bitcoin to unlock. I quickly uninstalled the program, but it's left all files of certain types encrypted. I only have a small portion backed up, luckily the very most important. So far, I am running a virus scanner and plan to restore Windows. If neither of these work (and I'm not expecting them to), I will just rescue what is in a weird enough file format to save, and wipe the hard drive. What I want to know is if there is anything else you might be able to suggest? Thanks, Mr Miserable.

So I've had Voicemeeter Banana for a month or two working pefectly, and suddenly today my Anti-Virus (F-Secure) detects it as a virus. It instanly remove the program files which leaves me without Voicemeeter, I've tried reinstallin but the same thing keeps happening, it gives me no chance to say the files are ok, it just removes them a few seconds after I press install. What should I do?

I had given my external hard disk to my friend as he needed some files and he returned it to me today. When I connected it to my computer, I saw that all the folders were changed to .scr and I couldn't access any of them. I even scanned it with Avast but selected the repair option on detection but when the virus got detected it showed a write error. Please help me. I have very important files on my disk.

I have an old sony viao laptop from 2009-2010 time frame. It ended up getting a virus on it around that same time frame and now it will not go past the boot up screen regardless of how I try to use it (via normal boot or safe mode). I have some old pictures on it of my daughter that I don't have saved anywhere else. On my current laptop I have McAfee virus protection. I have a hard drive reader so I can remove the hard drive from the old laptop and plug it into my current laptop and either remove the virus with my virus protection or just get my pictures off of it. Before I go and do this, I was hoping to get a second opinion on it in case it is a bad idea. Thank you in advance for your time.

ok guys im sure this is here already but i cant find any real help. i have a toshiba HDD from an old laptop. my brother distroyed his computer and i stole the HDD from him since he cant use it anymore and i checkd it and it had viruses on it. i ran my AVG and got rid of them. i then deleted the volumes on the HDD and reformated it to use as a storage HDD for my anime and PDF books i backed up from my collection. anyways i know there are viruses and rootkits that can still be on the HDD but AVG doesnt find anything and all the help i find are for primary HDDs that have windows installed. since this will be a 2nd...well 3rd hard drive that i will install on my computer but want to make sure its 100% risk free before i install it for my main rig. if there is no way to make sure i will just buy a new drive just for that since i dont wanna bog down my main HDD for my rig. thanks for the help guys. also what affects does having more than 2 HDD/SSD installed on one computer (non-raid). will there be like slow speeds or anything like that. i know HDDs are slower than SSD but i mean just in general on stuff like that XD. just currious guys and gals haha

HI, my friend gave me a laptop to fix and he said that he had gotten a virus on it at one point and it has been a few years sense he has used it i think. After lots of looking he seems to have removed it because i can not find much of anything on the hard drive where a virus might be hiding or at least in the most common locations. Program Files, Temp Folders, etc. so here is the symptom the laptop works but the hard drive is painfully slow to the point it takes about 5 minuets to boot windows and even longer to load explorer. i had to do a system restore because windows would not load before and i can now get into windows but as i said before painfully slow. i have looked at the fragmentation of the disk and it said there was no fragmentation which i find very weird. i am running a check disk to see if it can help me in any way but i forgot to check both boxes so i will have to run it again later on. any body got an idea on whats going on?

I was stupid enough to click on a download link that looked rather scary, hoping it was the file I was looking for. As a result I got a trojan, and my immediate actions was to unplug the internet cable (just to stop any information to be collected and sent), do a recovery to a recovery point 7 days ago, restart the PC and run Windows Defender to take actions against the trojan virus. Am I somewhat safe now, or is there anything else I should do? I opened Run with Windows + R to run dxdiag to just check the DirectX version, and as I opened the run dialogue I noticed that regedit was already typed in, is this the trojan trying to do some damage?

So I had to download a program from Sourceforge (bad idea already). The reason was that my teacher needed us to install fritzing on our computers to work on a project. When I downloaded the installer I realized I messed up by even downloading anything from that site. Soon after I found out our school computers had the program I needed I just used that. However, ever I downloaded the installer (I didnt run it either it was a .JAR file) Ive been getting popups. Ranging from advertising to an unknown window that flashes every hour on my screen to my screen flashing black randomly. My computer is a Dell XPS 13 9350 that was supposed to be new but was actually refurbished. So What program should I use to rid myself of this anomaly. Thanks =/

Browser Redirect Malware In-Game (Tried and can't fix it)
TadMonty posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Below is an image of whats happening to me in-game, Battlegrounds, whenever I load it up. Image Internet provider screen just pops up and blocks the game out. I have tried doing a direct connection of my desktop to my modem to try and get around it but the game would not load at all, and when I go modem>router>wired desktop to router, I get this image. And I cannot take a screenshot of it, its just the games logo that shows. I have a new desktop, with the following: Ryzen 5 1600 GTX 1070 Everything on a single SSD 16gb ram, 2444 sp It was working fine last night and today it gives me the message. MY LAPTOP WORKS, which uses wifi only to play and it loads fine. It is just my desktop. Malwarebytes and defend shows nothing on the computer. I have tried offline mode, clean boot, admin open, and the redirect/popup is only in this game. League of Legends has no issues nor does my Chrome. The computer has not been on any sketchy sites (porn, torrents, nothing), literally only been up and running since Thursday evening. I am completely lost and even reinstalled it. I could use some help. -
Okay so im having a big problem. A friend who used to send me urls to pc gamer and other websites with limited free steam game keys. and they were legit. So when he messaged me a couple days ago i had no reason not to believe him. but when i clicked the link it downloaded a exe. and appairently because on my browser i dont have it set up to ask if i want to run something. the page some how got the exe to autorun. My Sager laptop is now completely fucked. All Normal and back door recovery options or unavailable theres also a heavy duty root kit making is so just about any antivirus program either cant run or just plain cant get rid of the virus. ive tried just about everything. it seems like my only option is to run a bootable usb with HirenBoot on it. ive tried using grub/ yumi/sardu/ rufus. nothing seems to working to get this usb to boot. Ive disabled secure boot. for all options i tired disableing legacy boot mode. ive also tried disabling all bootable devices other then the usb. ive tried switching my partition thing to both fat32 and ntfs on with all options i listed. i tried two different usb. i got them both to work on my desktop computer they just wont seem to run on the laptop. CAN ANYONE HELP IM BROKE AS HELL I CANT PAY TO HAVE THIS FIXED. it was a 2k laptop when i brought it its loaded with so much precious memorys i cant live without it. sorry for my bad english. EDIT i tried both usb 3.0 ports and 2.0 ports on my desktop they both worked with both usbs. EDIT on my laptop when booting from bootable usb and turning off windows boot manager. i get this error "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

Today while I was working on my PC suddenly I started to listen something really strange! The voice was like Google translate or the Google TalkBack.. the first time I didn't heard it clear because I was listening to music and it was last about 5 seconds but after 5 minutes I listened it again but I didn't understand what she was trying to tell.. The opened apps was only Spotify Discord Google Drive and Steam (in the background) and I was working on FL Studio.. I was really terrified I opened Discord to see if someone is connected in voice chat but no I exit most apps (Discord Google Drive steam and Spotify) and opened the task manager to see if something weird was working but no I didn't find something using my cpu or internet or ram so.. I thought know I wouldn't have any problem.. BUT the third time I heard it she was telling me that I need to pay (that's what I understood from the whole sentence) and instantly I pressed to restart my pc and then I closed my router and disconnected my WiFi adapter.. then I opened my pc and continue working on my projects but till now I didn't connect my pc on the internet.. I don't have any antivirus software only windows defender :'( Did I get hacked? What was this thing anyone know what should I do??? Thanks anyway and sorry for the long post

I'm getting mysterious random hidden folders in multiple locations in Windows Explorer - Documents folder, C Drive, D Drive, possibly more. Each folder contains several files with random real word file names - see screenshots. Several types of files are includes including JPG, DOC, XLS, RTD, Open Office. However when I open any of the files they contain no contents and are blank files. If I delete any of the folders they somehow recreate themselves soon after - this time with different random file names... Can anybody tell me what's going on? Is this a virus or something malicious? What can I do about this? (I've already scanned with my antivirus). Thanks!!

So the other day I accidentally downloaded a particularly tough Trojan that is resisting all attempts to remove it. It is blocking all antivirus and anti malware software from running, windows defender can't seem to remove it, and I have also tried to manually delete it in file explorer but it says I need admin permissions, even though it is my PC and I am admin. It doesn't appear to be doing anything other than keeping antivirus software from running, but that in itself is worrying. I have also tried AVG chameleon but that didn't work either. I am on windows 10, can I please get some suggestions? Edit: I forgot to mention, it is calling itself a driver with the name NDISTPR64.SYS

Since my most recent hacking incident that has happened to me, I wanna do some tests, and get it on video. I plan on downloading VMware and installing a clean version of Windows 10 on it. I will set it up like any other persons computer. I will be going around the internet looking for game hacks like CS:GO, H1Z1, Garry's Mod, etc cause these are the most vulnerable to obtain RATs. I will be running the VM for a few days. I will be using it a little bit. I will be recording this also. I will setup fake folders such as taxes, private content, paypal transcation information, etc, etc. I will be running a VPN so there is no way he can see my real IP address. If you are concerned about anything please comment below. If you have any tips please comment them.

Why is this happening!??? My laptop tends to be laggy and Disk Keeps running at 99-100% Half of the time! I bought an HP Star Wars Edition Laptop brand new from a store last year in December. Keep in mind that I live in the Caribbean. The Laptop's features are basic: Skylake i5, 6GB ram, and a TB Hardrive. That should be good enough to run basic things pretty smoothly right? Why the hell is it not then? Yeah, sure it, it ran pretty smoothly for the first couple of months, but ever since 2 months ago, I've realized that my laptop gets realllly slow...something I wouldn't expect for a machine with an i5 and 6GB of ram. I know that I run a couple of tabs on chrome on, and I use demanding software like the Adobe suite (namely photoshop, illustrator and premiere) but still, even during times when I don't, my laptop would get sluggish. What do I do??? Is it because of the 6gb of ram that's slowing me down? Also, Please see attached as a screenshot I too that I have no idea what caused it. Is this common on windows 10? I disabled windows search and that seems to have helped a bit. But that still can't explain what I saw on my own laptop in the picture provided! Just realized that it doesn't show exactly what I saw at the moment, where the pop up seemed to have duplicated itself endlessly on everything that is on and under the black line.ike how it used to on windows XP. Please help on what to do!

Hi all.. wanted to know what precautions I should take/consider before burning a windows iso file to a dvd in an infected PC so that the dvd doesn't get any virus/malware during the burning process. I have installed antivirus and antimalware programs and scanned the system. I used Norton Deluxe, Bitdefender free version and malwarebytes free version, one after another and removed as much as these programs detected. But I doubt that some virus/malware might still be present (right?) as I used the free versions of these programs. Now I am about to burn windows 10 creators update iso which I got from - http://windowsiso.net/windows-10-iso/windows-10-creators-update-1703-download-build-15063/ (this is a safe site right?) I scanned this iso file as well and it didn't had anything malicious according to the mentioned programs. So, I want burn this iso file into a dvd using ImgBurn. Is there anything else I need to do other than virus scan from three programs to make sure the dvd doesn't get infected from any of the remaining undetected virus/malware? (I know after using three programs, I shouldn't be this paranoid but they are free versions so... )

Hi, If virus/malware is present in other disk partition/HDD other than primary partition (C drive) will it survive C drive format and windows re-installation? Even if higher windows version (say 8.1 to 10) is installed? Also, is it possible for virus/malware in mobile to enter my cloud backup(?) and then re-appear after factory data reset? Please clarify my doubts.

So this has been happening since I had this computer. Whenever i do a big download or start running a server for my friends on a game, my wifi, keyboard, mouse, and headset disconnects and reconnects. This restarts my download, ends the gaming session, and stops my music. Is this a crazy ass virus? or is something wrong with my computer?

Someone on steam sent me a website, when i went to the website, it started downloading a file, and I quickly closed the website. The file was .scr and I looked it up and saw it was a trojan, i quickly deleted it and cleaned my recycling bin, then ran windows defender, i tried opening the file before that and windows wouldnt open it and said it was a trojan and it wouldnt run. Do I have anything to worry about, Windows Defender is doing a full scan and hasn't found anything wrong yet but I'm worried.
