Heyo! I am not too sure when this problem started occuring (maybe around December 2018?) but my computer while gaming has been running very poorly. I get around 100 FPS or below while in team fights on Overwatch and on Fortnite I get around 100 FPS, too. Prior to when this problem started occuring I had fine FPS, hitting my desired 144FPS with no questions asked. It seems to be whenever I encounter a situation where there is a lot more to render, the GPU usages actually goes DOWN rather than UP causing my FPS to drop even FURTHER. Example: Dropping out of the battle bus on Fortnite - https://gyazo.com/aacf9d10ac3ece9f1491902fdc9b966d I have reinstalled drivers(using DDU), reinstalled games, tested on multiple games with MSI Afterburner and even went to the extent of reinstalling my Windows OS. If somebody could point me in the right direction of were to go next and how to fix this frustrating issue, that would be super appriciated. Thanks heaps! Hi, I'm looking for an explanation on what happens when a CPU is at different percentages of use at maximum clock speeds. So I understand that a CPU can increase it's clock speed to process information more quickly. But what happens when a CPU is at its maximum frequency (let's say 3.6 GHz) and it can't go any higher, where its usage is at either 50% or 100%. If the CPU cannot increase its speed any more, how is it processing more or less information but staying at the same frequency? So as an example, I could be running a certain game where the CPU is at 3.6 GHz (its maximum speed) but the usage says that each core's usage is between 30%-50%, now I fire up another game that requires more processing power where the CPU is still at its maximum frequency (3.6 GHz) but now each core's usage is between 80%-100%. What is happening inside the processor that its able to increase the amount of processing done while still being at the same speed? Sorry if the question doesn't make any sense, I'm not sure how to ask it differently.

Hello, About a month ago i purchased a TOP OC Rx 580 to upgrade my computer, but when i used it for the first time i experienced really bad FPS and really bad GPU usage. i thought this was just my PSU so i upgraded it the next day, along with a new stick of ram, and better cooling. but none of this seemed to fix the really low GPU Usages in games. For an example, gta v will only use 50% - 80% of the graphics card, but i only get around 30-40fps.i have tried so many games and the problem occurs with all of them, but what i noticed is that when running certain games, if the player is looking at a city for example (where the GPU has to render more graphics), thats when i get really low usages, but if i look straight down into the ground, the usage hits to 100% and i get high frames. I Found a video with a person that is experiencing the same problem (linked below). i just want to know how i can fix this, i have already tried upgrading almost everything in my computer, but its still not happy, i have tried fresh driver installs and everything. So i decided to pop my old GT 1030 in, updated the drivers, and everything worked perfectly, i then used the gpu from the Ryzen 5 2400g to see what happens, and it does the same thing, low gpu usage So could it be my cpu the fault, and not my GPU?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCShMjKtKg0Asus Strix RX 580 p.s whilst gaming the card inst overheating, sitting around 65cRyzen 5 2400G2x Corsair 8GB DDR4EVGA Supernova 750w G2 PSU2TB HDD with the game installed on.TUF Gaming Motherboard AM4 Clock Speeds for GPU - 1441mhz (That was the factory TOP Overclock)Thanks, Adam

Hello. After alot a testing and trying different things I thought I would finally seek for some help.I am not too sure when this problem started occuring (maybe around December 2018?) but my computer while gaming has been running very poorly. Hi Guys, So i have a question around my CPU usage and an odd issue i've been putting to the back of my mind for a while as it doesn't concern me that much. I have noticed an odd CPU usage where when idle and no programs are running and nothing in the back ground bar windows, i see my idle usage go from 1% to 13% for a brief moment and then back to 1%. This was only noticed when i had my fan curve set to default when i first built the machine and would spike the fans each time. I have countered this since then and no longer bothers me. My question around this is, is this normal? Should i be concerned? Could this be a OC issue(Shouldn't be as i had this when it was stock)? Or is there something else i am missing. Sorry if this has been asked before, i couldnt find much on this at all. My system specs are: CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6Ghz @4.0Ghz Cooling: Noctua - NH-D9L 46.4 CFM Motherboard: Asus - STRIX X370-F GAMING RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z RGB 2x8Gb DDR4 2400MHz @3000MHz GPU: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB WINDFORCE OC Storage Samsung - 860 EVO 250GB M.2-2280 PSU EVGA - B3 650W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Case: Corsair - SPEC-OMEGA RGB ATX Mid System Fans: Corsair - ML120 PRO RGB 47.3 CFM 120mm x 4 Corsair - ML140 PRO RGB 55.4 CFM 140mm Operating System Windows 10 Pro The system is 5 months old and has no stability issues.

When I play any game on my computer, MSI Afterburner says that my CPU usage is around 20%-30% and my GPU usage is anywhere from 40% to 60%. While on Overwatch, with all my settings on low, I struggle to reach 144 fps. My specs are listed below. Ryzen 5 3600 4.0 ghz gtx 1060 6gb gskill 3200mhz 1080p res So I recently got metro exodus and ive been playing it quite a lot with decent performance with questionable frame drops even at medium settings but I always have my task manager window opened in the other screen and ive noticed my gpu is running at 0 percent usage most of the time during the benchmark and in game. My cpu also is at 30% usage most of the time. Going up in settings does not help and lowers my fps and ive also tried to go to nvidia control pannel and putting it at max performance settings. just so you know i searched google already and the game's tech support forum to no solution.

So, im buying this 550 watt corsair PSU. And im putting this into my pc: Sapphire pulse radeon rx 5700, asus rog strix gaming f b350, amd ryzen 5 3600, and dark rock 4. Is 550 watt enough to power this or should i upgrade it more?

Hi I'm sure this has been asked many times, but whenever I try searching I just get an error code back! (next topic coming up! :) I have just upgraded my computer to a Ryzen 3700x from an fx 8320. I went from 8gb to 16gb ram. When I was using my fx, w10 reserved only 4gb whilst now I have 16 windows has taken 10gb. This cant be normal behaviour can it? if its abnormal is there any way to fix this?

I downloaded bf5 yesterday and have been having input lag issues in full screen so i was messing about with the settings and tried windowed mode and i found out that i get 45+ fps increase while in windowed mode which i thought was strange, as usually it doesn't make a difference in other games, i also found that my Cpu is being used a lot more in windowed so i am a bit confused to what is happening as i get a lot more fps in windowed but i have huge amount of input delay, and in full screen i have input delay but 40-50 fps less which i think is whats causing my game to have input lag in full screen. Is this some kind of bottleneck? i was going to buy a new Gpu eventually when i get the money. My PC has worked fine until recently. I have been experiencing some weird things with my R9 390X. Problem(s): A couple weeks ago there were some stutters that I timed at every 5 seconds (even at idle) that would drop my utilization far below what they should have been (when gaming stuttering below 30% utilization from 100% every 5 seconds) that have since stopped. Now I am getting weird usage readings with my monitoring software. At idle, both HWMonitor and Task Manager say that my GPU is at 50% usage on idle with nothing open (task manager says that its 'video encoding'), whereas the AMD performance overlay metrics are saying 0% GPU utilization. What I've done already: I did a virus scan (no virus' found), checked my drivers (are the latest), closed things in task manager (didn't help), uninstalled a few programs (didn't help either), and checked to see if my overclock was causing a utilization error (had same utilization after reverting back to stock settings). Question: Is this normal? PS: I don't have any 3D or moving desktop backgrounds installed Pictures (taken at idle with nothing else open): Task Manager HWMonitor AMD Performance Metrics Overlay

Apologies if this has already been asked but i can't find any help with my situation and I'm fairly new to enthusiast level computers. Here is my situation. In every game i run i get between 50%-80% CPU utilization and 0%-5% CPU utilization. although i am able to maintain 60fps in every game i play i was just curious what could be causing the 0% utilization on my GPU. Could it be that my cpu is bottle necking my gpu or could it be a issue with the mismatched ram? The ram without xmp enabled reads 2133mhz but with it enabled it is running at 3000mhz. Thank you in advance. I have an RTX 2070 and while running a game, it goes up to like 85 degrees while the fans are on 50%. How can I reduce this while not making the noise unbearable?

Hi so Ive noticed that in quite a lot of the games I play my GPU usage is extremely low but performance doesn't seem to bad tbh. For example I was just playing Rise of the tomb raider and Far cry 5 and in both games my GPU usage was around 20 per cent. In far cry 5 my CPU would also get up to 100% usage every so often. First thing that comes to mind is a CPU bottleneck but Im pairing a OC'd 9700k and an RTX 2080... At first I thought it may have been CAM software just being weird but I checked in task manager for my GPU usage and It all matched up... Any idea what the hell is going on? Full specs i7 9700k MSI Z390 Tomohawk mobo 16gb DDR4 3000mhz DDR4 EVGA RTX 2080 Black EDIT just went back on Farcry 5 and my CPU usage is around 60 and my GPU is around 15. I also get spikes where my GPU remains the same but my CPU goes to 100.

So I can't figure out why my CPU And GPU are not performing to there 100% in most games! For e.g in GTA V I am getting around 60% GPU AND CPU Usage and around 40% GPU AND CPU USAGE in CS GO! In Far Cry 5 with the resolution scale set to 1 the GPU AND CPU are around 60-70% used but with the resolution set to 2 the bottleneck gets removed and the GPU usage goes to 100% I am very confused! NOTE: I recently upgraded to i7 6700 from i5 6400 and 1070 from 1050Ti My Specs: Core i7 6700 with Cooler Master TX3 EVO (so the temp are pretty low around 60-70c) 8 GB DDR3 1600mhz Ram EVGA FTW 1070 8 GB (temps around 70c) Thermaltake Smart Series 700 watt PSU ASUS H110m-k MOBO If you need any further info please ask! And NO Vsync is not ON!

Some general information first: Notebook: OMEN by HP - 15-ce013na OS: Win 10 Home latest updates (16.11.2018) and latest drivers for all components I also wiped all drives completely and reinstalled Windows but the Problem persists. Furthermore I followed all guides to fix this problem that I could find. _____ So I've had this problem for quite some time now. That one CPU core is nearly all the time at 100% usage because the System process uses ~15% ALL THE TIME. I uploaded all screenshots that show more detail about my situation, that I can think of below. If that is now enough I can upload the cpuusage file from the Windows Performance Toolkit!

Hi, I've discovered an issue with Overwatch and/or my GPU. I have a 1070 ti and maxed out the settings. I have a 144hz 1080p monitor. When running Overwatch, the GPU is only at about 30% usage. I get about 100-125 FPS. I played around with some clock settings with no luck. Looked around online and found an issue but it only seemed to effect those with Windows 8 but I have Windows 10. Some other odd things: the Asus monitoring software shows the clock speed at where I set the overclock for. In Task Manager, the 30% usage isn't tied to Overwatch, instead it's under Windows Desktop Manager. With other games, the GPU runs at 100% easily. I also have experienced weird issues with task manager and my mouse concerning Overwatch. For example, if I tab-out of the game to look at Task Manager, I have difficulty moving the mouse, it's like its stuck in the middle of the screen. I feel like I could be getting way better FPS. How do I get my GPU to run at 100%? Thanks

So when my CPU is idling, as you can see, it has a little I'd estimate 15 second power up, and the thing is it seems very consistent. I was wondering what process(es) would be responsible and if I can stop it from happening. Most of the time, "idle" for me is desktop with the lock screen on. I'm running a 6700k stock.

My ssd Samsung Evo 840 250GB is digging its grave. SMART looks alright to me. I tried plugging it as slave into a diffrent machine and it's having trouble with any IO. Formating and filling the drive with 0's does the trick for a maximum of 4 days - no issues whatsover and when the time comes it drops like a rock. I've also seen improvent when using Samsung's dedicated software - Magician with the TRIM in advanced mode - it did make the drive go to its former glory... for about 2 days? The drive only has 27TB written and roughly 15K power-on hours. Could there be anything else i could try?

Hello LTT community. I have recently been fooling around with riva tuner statistics to see what my hardware does when I'm gaming. I mostly play CS:GO and here i discovered that not all of my CPU usage is centered towards this game. Is there a way to force my CPU into either using a higher percentage on all cores or to force the game to have 100% usage on any of my cores? I currently have a gtx 1060 6gb, 16gb of ddr4 ram and an intel i5 7400 CPU. My goal is to have a steady +144 FPS to go with my 144 hz monitor. I attached two pictures of my usage when ingame.

I believe it's because of a bottleneck my CPU is currently producing and I'm looking to upgrade. An ideal board for a micro atx build would be the asus z370-G but they're currently out of stock on Amazon, Newegg, and my local Micro Center and I have no idea when or if they will even be back in stock. Ideally I'd like the Asus z370-G to pair with an i7-8700k since I also have a Kraken X62 that I was gifted not too long ago. If I were to go this route, would I need to get faster RAM? Considering it's hard to get a hold of the z370-g currently, the only other option I was able to narrow down was the MSI Z370M Mortar motherboard. It meets all of my needs but only reason I haven't thrown money at it yet is because of the obligatory red MSI detailing that comes with it. I'd really prefer neutral colors or even white if anything, but I've spent a few days looking for other boards and with micro-atx not being the most popular form factor, I'm now stuck at a roadblock Yesterday I discovered that there are also B and H series boards alongside the Z, but in general terms I've learned (from gamersnexus) that B is generally for businesses, and H is for budget builds so I'm not sure if these are viable options either for gaming nor do I know which CPUs are compatiable. Thanks for reading!

im not sure what is wrong with my GPU, as i have tried to do everything, im newer to computer troubleshooting, but i have done everything i could to try and fix my "low GPU usage" of around 20% to 2% while trying to play video games, im not sure whats wrong, but if you guys could help me that would be great. XEON e5 1607 v2 3.0ghz quadro k4000 unknown PSU, 685w 32gb ddr3 1866hz i like to hang around the nvidia control pannel, so i play warthunder and it sits around 50%, no issues there, i would like it to sit higher because it sits at 60fps and drops to 40 and idk what to do while playing any other video game like csgo, starcraft 2, it sits at 20 to 5% and it causes me to have 5 to 10 frames per sec and its horrid, if you guys have any ideas whats wrong, please tell me

Hi One of my clients is using some crappy server with dual xeon 3106 - 2x8core without HT, during operation he has usage around 50% which is fine, but on both core 1 he has 100% usage, even on idle core 1 have 80% usage, those cpu has 1.7ghz max speed, so I assume it is caused by bad single core performance, can the usage might be caused by software raid on the system? do you have any idea how to decrease the usage on both core1's ?
