Hello everyone, I was hoping you could help me make a choice for a graphics card. I would like to create a triple 1440p monitor setup. My current computer is an off-the-shelf unit from HP (yes, scandalous for this audience. Sorry.) and I was hoping to upgrade the graphics card. It currently has a Geforce GTX 260 (1.8GB video RAM), which still works... adequately, but only has 2 DVI outputs. What would you suggest for a good midrange card that would be able to comfortably power 3 1440p monitors? I don't games much (and if I do, I'll only use one monitor) so the card would only really have to be able to drive the three monitors and play videos well. I bring up that last point because the current card actually drops frame rate in 720p mkv videos when full screened on one of my two current 1440p monitors. I would also prefer avoiding upgrading power supply, which I believe is rated at 385W. My knowledge of graphics cards is rather limited. I know that I obviously won't need a GTX 980 Ti or a Titan or anything outrageous like that, but could I get away with using a cheaper, 700 or 800 series card or a mid-tier 900 series card? As you can probably also guess from me constantly referring to nVidia cards, I am very unfamiliar with ATI cards. I don't even know how their naming convention works but am open to them. What I'm looking for is decent performance, quiet operation, for a reasonable price, hopefully below $200-300. It would also preferably have a rear hot air exhaust as my case has woeful airflow so I don't think venting hot air into the case is a good idea. Oh, and lastly, does the brand make a difference in graphics cards? I don't think it should but maybe there's something I don't know? For example, I looked at the microbyte website and the GTX960 ($279) is available from Zotac, Asus, PNY, MSI, Gigabyte. The rest of the specs that may be relevant to performance Core i7 920 (Bloomfield) @ 2.66Ghz 9GB DDR3 RAM 128GB Kensington solid state drive (I put that in) Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, so In one week or so... I hope... I will be buying my workstation, I am a developer so ,for productivity, I have thought about 3 monitors, now, I wanna play some games, I would like them to be in ultra. The 3 monitors are 1440p, every one of them by displayport, and I will play just in one of them, the monitor in the middle, how many fps or percentage of fps I will lose having the other two conecteds at the same time, for example with a youtube vídeo or chrome... basic stuff. And the graphics card will be de Gigabyte g1 one which I have seen is a beast. Do you think 6gb ram would make it better? Maybe figure it out with 2 monitors and in the future... like a lot in the future... months or years, buy another monitor and another gtx 980 ti? My budget has been... "rethinked" multiple times so I don't want to make it bigger. Is the first time I go for middle-high-end build, so I am a little worried for some aspects of the build... also very hyped because I want it now, but I need to wait for a bank answer ¬¬ I am like crazy... Thanks!

I looked around to see what people have suggested, but found posts that are a bit dated now. A friend of mine is building a computer for three 144hz 1080p monitors. He does want to game on all three. He was thinking of getting a fury x when it comes out, assuming the benchmarks are good. I think 2 290x 8GB cards (or 2 390x) or even 2 970s would be better, but I'm not sure so I told him I'd ask around. What would you recommend? (Any card/brand/price doesn't matter, but don't just say titan x unless it is the best option.) Here is the rest of what he is getting. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pYwbQ7 I'llpass on to him any recommendation you have on it, but I'm mainly concerned about the video card. As a note: I'm looking for the best "graphics solution" not necessarily the best card. Obviously he could slap two titan x's in it and call it a day but, well you get the idea.

Alright, so here is the deal. I've been looking at a new GPU and i've come to the conclusion that the MSI 980 Gaming 4G is within my budget and seems to outperform the "new" 390X at the same price, here in Sweden (Both are currently sold for about 620 USD). I'm not gonna run out and buy anything yet, because i wan't to see more benchmarks. I've also decided on a new 144hz monitor (I play CSGO a lot, gotta get dem high refreshrates) What my question is actually about the monitor configuration i'm thinking of setting up. Currently i have two 1080p monitors that i want to stack vertically on a VESA mount, once i get a new monitor. So basically i'll have the new 144hz monitor infront of me and to the side i'll have my old monitors stacked vertically. Since they are old monitors i would connect one using a DVI-VGA converter (Yes it only has VGA input, deal with it), one using HDMI, and the new monitor via DisplayPort. So finally, i ask, would this work?

Has anyone recently gotten Shadow of Mordor to play on three monitors? I bought this game just recently and it just will not recognize my 5760x1080 Nvidia Surround resolution. No matter what I do, it seems to recognize my 100% native resolution at only 1920x1080. I found another post saying that their game used to work fine and it quit working after a recent update in which they "improved detection of monitor native resolution" so I was wondering if anyone else's game is in fact still working fine. I believe the problem used to be that the game would only play on about 3 inches of each side monitor without correcting for it with Flawless Widescreen and changing the config file, etc, but I can't even get that far. It refuses to believe my resolution is anything but 1920x1080 and only uses the center monitor. Thanks everyone.

Hello, just bought the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming G4 but it does not detect my 3rd monitor. Before i had the GTX660 and 3 monitors connected. Working Setup on the 660: 1 -> HDMI 2 -> DVI 3 -> DVI After i changed the card to the GTX970 it ran with 3 Monitors without problems using the same wiring. Then i updated the driver to the current version. It was still fine. I even played some games using the current driver and the wiring above on the 970. This morning after restarting the PC one monitor is not detected anymore. To be sure that there is no defect i switched the DVI cables but the monitor is working fine then. So it's just that the 970 does not detect one of the 2 DVI connections at startup. Not sure - but is is possible that the 970 can only run 1 DVI connection if there are 3 displays connected? I currently don't have a Display Port to DVI adaptor but if it's the only way i would buy one. But that still does not explain why it worked at first? Thanks for helping! michael

So guys, i just changed my displays and looks pretty good to me! For gaming, those borderless is perfect! Here what i got with some gameplay on it. On Project Cars it was pretty cool, nothing to change. Got my old dusty Logitech Momo out of the closet, reinstalled my Trackir 5 and BOOM! Love it! On The Witcher 3, i really need another 780 ti to play with at least everything on high settings. I put everything on Low and still got some lag.

So, I've been experiencing some screen tearing. Oddly, it only occurs with video playback, and not when gaming (even on display spanning mode). I have tried switching between normal triple display mode, and display spanning mode (which turns all 3 monitors into one, essentially). It happens in netflix, Vessel, Youtube, any kind of video playback. Even if I have the GPU overclocked. I call this "sudden" because I had no issues previously when I had just two monitors, each one running off of a different GPU. Any thoughts?

Hey guys! I'm planning on building my first ever pc as soon as possible and want to know what people recommend as a monitor setup. at the moment the plan is: Motherboard - ASUS Maximus VII Impact Mini ITX Graphics Card - MSI GeForce GTX 980 - 4GB CPU - Intel Core i5 4690 RAM - Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB Operating System - Windows 8.1 and of course all the extras like PSU and cooler. All games will be ran of Kingston hyperX fury ssd's or similar ssd's Preferably I want to play most games like battle field 4 and dirt 3 on triple 1080p monitors but I'm not sure if it could handle it with half decent FPS, that's why I'v come to you guys! Should the system I'v mocked up handle it? Or is there anything I can do while still keeping it mini ITX to make it run triple well? Otherwise is there another monitor setup that you guys would recommend? Thanks!

Hello everyone, First of, despite being a software programmer, I must admit that I am a complete noob at hardware and especially gaming hardware. With that in mind, here's my situation- I have an acer aspire r7 (8GB RAM, GeForce 750M, i5-4200U, Win8.1) hooked to 2 external monitors (1 via HDMI, another via mini-DP->VGA) at 1080p each. Now this triple screen configuration works perfectly when surfing the net, watching movies, running IDEs etc. However, when I try to do any sort of gaming, all games resort to only my main display and don't even have the option to select all. I have read up on Nvidia surround and as I understand either the GPU must be in SLi or it must have a kepler architecture and the 750M fulfills the latter criterion. I have tried editting the PhysX controls in the Nvidia control panel but there is no option for surround there. Am I missing something here? Is there anyway to run games on all three monitors? PS- I don't expect to run any modern titles, even games like counter strike 1.6 or old-school strategy games will do. I just want to experience triple monitor gaming once before I invest into a gaming PC. Would be glad if one of you could help me out

So I need to upgrade monitors. Badly. Like, so bad that my current monitor is nearly horrid. It's an ASUS VE198T, great little 19 inch but it's not even 1080. Eventually I would like to have a 3 monitor surround, may happen within the year just not now, so I'd like to at least get one and try it out, plus I need something better than using a 19 inch monitor and a 19 inch tv with horrid colors for a 2nd display.... I for sure want G sync so that limits my options, plus driving 3 1440p monitors like the ROG swift, which would be nearly perfect but until I upgrade my PC from an AMD 8350 and an EVGA 760 SC 4G driving 3 of those is literally impossible. Running 3 1080p monitors will for sure be a lot easier and will also more than likely save me money. My thoughts were either the BenQ XL2420G or either one of the 24' or 27' editions of the Acer 1080 G Sync monitor (XB240H or XB270H). Linus did a video for NCIX with 3 of the BenQ's running on SLI 970's, only thing I have against them is the Acers look like they have thinner bezel. But that's also where the 27 inch comes in. If the panel is 27 inch, I feel that would offset the bezel size pretty well making it that much more enjoyable but that's just theory. So, BenQ, or the 24 or 27 inch Acer? If you have other suggestions send me a link or a video! EDIT: Also, if I were to get 3 ROG Swift, would it be doable to run them at a lower resolution if I went that route and get 3 of them? Thanks in advance.

Hello. I am looking into a great display solution for my new gaming rig. I currently have a not so good and pretty basic 1600x900 display and wanted to know if adding two more will make for a better experience instead of buying a single 1080p monitor and just never use my current one again. Since this one is not so good in picture quality, I was thinking of buying one great 1600x900 monitor to go in the center and then another one just like the one I currently have at the other side. Will the experience be worth it? Or am I just better off with a 1080P monitor or even 1440P monitor (although unlikely)? Thanks.

I have decided that I need a new graphics card. I have three monitors (I only use 1080p one for gaming). The two other ones are not quiet 1080p resolution, but very close. (somewhere in between 720 and 1080). I play games like Minecraft, Cities:skylines, besiege and civilization IV and V. So I don't really need a great graphics card, but I've noticed some shortage of my 2gb of vram in my current (ASUS GT640) graphics card when watching youtube/vessel and playing cities:skylines. What graphics card is the best one to go with for this kind of situation? Do I really need more than 2gb of VRAM? My budget is €200,--

I was reciently challanged with the task of getting an older but still fully fuctional 64bit XP PC to run Windows 7 Smoothly and be able to display to 3 monitors. I do not need to have eyefinity capabilities. I'm looking for a decent GPU that can perform these tasks. It does not have to be good at gaming, this computer will be used for office use only. Does anybody have any suggestions? I have a pretty small budget of 100-150 USD.

So im using 3x 16:9 monitors, the acer h236hl, and I'm starting to notice dead pixels on each of the monitors, also they are are starting to get beaten up.' I don't want to go 16:9 as triple monitor again as 16:9 is super wide and too short in my opinion. Any suggestions for great monitors under 300$ each?

Hi, I have 3 23" monitors all 1080p. I had 2 for one day because the other one had to be shipped and came the day after and I had no problems with 2. (One connected trough HDMI and the other one DVI.) Now I have 3 and I bought a HDMI to Displayport cable to connect the third one. When I want to configure the 3 screens it says that it can't save it and that I have to try something else. Also the third monitor connected with the HDMI to Displayport cable has black edges that are filled up on the other 2.(And it looks like it's 1080p but all crampted up) I think that there might be something wrong with the cable, but I don't know. I just got the third screen and HDMI to Displayport cable today so they should not be broken already. Maybe someone could help me? I would really like to play games on them in 5760x1080. I've read some things about passive and active adapters and I have no idea if it is a passive or an active HDMI to Displayport cable. I've also read that with AMD Catalyst you can only had a max of 2 HDMI, DVI, VGA, and that the third monitor has to be trough Displayport. I really need help. PC specs: Intel i7 4770 AMD Radeon R9 255 2GB 8GB RAM

I learned about the 970 problem where it only uses 3.5 GB of RAM at it's full speed while the rest of it works on half speed. I run three 27'' 1080x1920 monitors for a total 5760x1080 system. I enjoy AAA games quite a lot and I am curious what kind of performance hit I can expect. Personally with Far Cry 4 the frame rate seems to scale pretty normally from 1080p to 3x 1080p, and between in game detail settings. At ultra i am getting about 70 or so single and 27 or so triple. The question I am trying to make is will that 0.5GB really make a difference? It doesn't seem to now with fairly intense AAA games.

Hi there, I recently got myself a new triple monitor setup, using 3x ASUS VN247H-P hooked up on the Ergotech Triple Monitor Stand. I figured i'd show a POV video to those interested! I've been getting this setup mostly for simRacing, and I can't believe how great this feels. To be honnest, I wasnt expecting my GTX 660ti to do particularly well in surround mode, but I can maintain over 100fps in iRacing with most details on high! Assetto Corsa (see another video here for your reference) is more taxing, but overall, my GPU is still capable to output a very decent framerate with medium/high details. I couldnt be happier with my purchase, and will probably eventually upgrade my GPU, but fo far so good!

Hello guys, I will be purchasing a new monitor for casual work. I am in search of advice from productivity expert. Which monitor setup (from above or other) will provide the most productivity and efficiency of work? Main use: programming, app developing, web design, web developing, adobe Photoshop & illustrator, matlab. watching moives occasionally. No gaming. I have a budget max around $1000. However, lower cost yet better productivity will always welcome. So, if you have any better idea please feel free to post. Thanks. P.S. My main concern about 4k monitors are the scaling issue. Has windows 8.1 solved the issue or getting better recently?
