Okay, so I'm new to pc building, but have wanted to build a gaming rig for a while. I did my research and bought parts that would be compatible and work together. After putting everything together I ran into an issue. The computer powers on but there isn't any output to a display. The fans turn on but nothing else. I have tried everything from reseating all the parts to trying different monitors and cables but nothing works. I have come to the conclusion that the current bios is incompatible with the CPU I have purchased. Therefore, a bios update is needed for the CPU to work with my motherboard. Unfortunately, the motherboard needs a CPU (that I don't have and would need to purchase.) that is compatible with the current bios of the motherboard, in order to to upgrade the BIOS to work with the CPU I have. (A "catch 22" situation.) In addition, the motherboard I have is about 8 years old (but new in box and never used), so I'm wondering if its worth it to take it to a pc repair shop to get the bios updated. Key Points - I don't want to spend money on a new motherboard if updating the BIOS works. - I don't want to have to buy any more parts (i.e. new ram*, new CPU, new PSU, etc.) *(I did buy ram that is slightly faster than originally recommended by the manufacturer, believing it would work and still be recognized but slightly bottlenecked by rest of hardware.) - I want the PC to last a good while before needing to make upgrades. - I don't want to have to spend any more money than completely necessary. I already feel like i spent too much money on this already. - I still need to purchase Windows 11 O.S. - I still want to get more internal cooling fans So here's my question. Should I bother taking the motherboard to a repair shop to get the BIOS updated, or should I just buy a more modern motherboard altogether. Option 1 Get the BIOS updated at a local repair shop to work with my current parts. Pros: - Cheaper - Don't have to get a new motherboard. Cons: - No guarantee that the ram will be compatible after bios update. - Might need to get parts that are more compatible. Option 2 Buy a new motherboard. Pros: - More likely to work with my current parts - Bios flashing would be easier - More "Future Proof" (would last longer before needing an upgrade) Cons: - More expensive option - Might need to buy more compatible parts For reference here is my build so far: CASE: Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 3.1 TG mATX (MCW-L3S3-KGNN-00) CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 RAM: TeamGroup "T-Force Vulcan Z" DDR4 3200mhz 2x8gb (16gb total) PSU: Segotep 650W 80 Plus Gold Certified Non-Modular ATX Power Supply GPU: Gaming Radeon RX 6650 XT 128-bit 8GB GDDR6 (RX 6650 XT MECH 2X 8G OC) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-AB350M-D3H (Rev 1.0) Storage: Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SN570 NVMe SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb/s, M.2 2280 & Samsung 870 EVO 500GB SATA 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (MZ-77E500) Any and all input and advice would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!

I have a newish pc that's reping windows 10 at the moment. But it needs windows XP and Iv been trying to slap it on for a while now and nothing seems to be working. I have tried easy2boot but it keeps saying that it can't access my drive. And I changed the Zata connection to IDE (think that's what it was called.) instead of AH something. Still docent function. I can give out more information if needed but does anyone have alternative methods to installing it?

I have been using Davinci since the start of this year. I use it for some small videos. I have a intel core I3 12th gen. a RX 6400 and 16 GB of DDR4 ram. It would work all well no issues at all. Last week I opened it up to start a project and it was working all fine. Today I tried to continue to work on said project. It opened but when I was working cutting it crashed. I opened up task manager and amd software but and I see that my original 16 GB was over loading. taking more ram that there was. I put in some 32 GB sticks same speed into my computer and It still does not want to work. It worked a bit better being that it just froze up and I could still hear the audio but eventually It just crashed. I think that this must affect some other people but I am not sure. How could I fix this? davinchi not working.mkv

If anyone is able to find a solution on this, I would be very thankful. I bought and installed a new RTX 4080 ASUS ROG STRIX White Edition, and after running some games I have a few questions. I run ultra graphics with new drivers on a 1440p 165hz monitor with G-Sync. I've noticed neither my GPU or CPU (Ryzen 9 7900X) go above 50% usage or hit any temp, power, memory restrictions. In games like Escape From Tarkov, I only get 120-140fps on average. What's going on here? Thanks in advance! (btw I do have performance modes on and gamebar/game modes/power managements off.)

Installed new CPU (upgraded from Ryzen 5 5600x to Ryzen 9 5950x). Booted the PC and everything was fine. Downloaded a BIOS update and installed it with MFlash, then the PC boots to recovery mode. After a few hours of troubleshooting I found that If I unplug the sata drives, PC boots fine. I plugged the sata drives back in individually, all work fine individually. Plug both of them in at the same time, PC boots to recovery mode. I also tried plugging them into different ports on the mobo, and setting all boot options to disabled except the boot drive, but no luck. Specs are as follows: R9 5950x MSI B550 Carbon WiFi EVGA RTX 3060Ti 32 GB (2x16) 3200 mhz 1TB NVME (Boot) 2TB NVME (game drive) 500 GB Sata SSD (misc storage) 2TB HDD (file storage)

Hey all, for the last few days I've been dealing with my peripherals (mouse, keyboard, chroma stations, mic, mousepad) power cycling randomly while gaming. I've turned power management off in device manager for everything, have a new 1000W PSU, and don't use USB hubs but can't find a solid fix. If anyone has absolutely any ideas, I would very much appreciate it.

This is a completely new rig and I have no idea what's causing the issue. Here it is: The GPU fans don't spin on start up, but once I turn it off the fans would suddenly spin for a second and then completely stop spinning. No display shows up. I think I have rooted out some issues: -At first I thought it was a power supply problem, but I bought a completely new PSU and the problem persists. So I'm guessing it's not a power problem. -I tried unplugging the PCIe power cords and then turned on the PC. The GPU's RGB lights were on. The fans were all working properly and the motherboard's RGB was also working; I'm guessing it's not a motherboard issue either. -I tried cleaning and then re-installing the RAM sticks. Didn't work. -I cleared CMOS and also removed the battery for 1.5 minutes. Didn't work. What I think is causing the problem: 1. CPU issue: I think I applied way too much force when I was trying to install the AMD AM4 cooler. You have to bend like two pins or something in order to make the whole tower secure, and I had to use a lot of force to install that and I think my CPU is dead because of it. When I was troubleshooting to check wether the CPU was damaged, I tried plugging in my monitor to the onboard display port. Nothing happened. 2. The GPU itself is not working. 3. BIOS issue: maybe I have to flash the BIOS? *My PC case doesn't come with that audio thing that beeps on start up, and it has been making my troubleshooting a lot more complicated*

Hi so I had just built a pc today or so my friend who has built pcs before did and when we turned it on the fans and gpu fans spun but when we connected it to a monitor it never posted I am worried as we've called a friend who knows a lot about pcs and gave us his thoughts on it like, Reseating the RAM, putting the cpu back on and putting the fan back on top, booting without graphics card but no dice. I am really beginning to become worried as I spent around $850 USD for most of the parts and all parts are being powered. Can I get some help?

Hello lovely guys from the LTT forum, I have been looking for a solution to this problem everywhere but I ran out of places to look, so you guys are my last hope. I am currently experiencing a lan issue on Aorus Z370 Gaming 5 for about half a year now, where the speed of my wifi chip is significantly faster then the lan chip. Current speed of my provider is 1Gbps down and 50Mbps up, I am getting around 300Mbps down on wifi and around 6-10Mbps on lan. Interesstingly Upload is identicall on lan and wifi. I know that I am using a high quality cat 8 ethernet cable which I recently bought and I also tried reinstalling my network drivers several times. My dad who is on the same network is getting 1Gbps to his pc even through a switch. I also tried every port on my modem, no difference I even tried the switch from my dad to see if it might have some magic built into it , but no luck there. Would be really nice if there might be someone out there who has been experiencing the same issues or has any ideas to solve my issue that I have not come up with.

Hello, this is an old problem, but I am reposting since I have not been succesfull in resolving this. So, I have a problem with my M.2 NVMe SSD (GP-GSM2NE3100TNTD (Gigabyte, 1Tb version)) and I hope you guys could help me out. The problem: My M.2 keeps disconnecting and I cannot access the information inside it. Sometimes, when I turn off my PC and disconnect the power cord, and turn my PC on again after that, the M.2 is working correctly. I managed to scan the M.2 with HD Tune -software and it showed no errors on the drive. Also, the M.2 works normally with other computers. Could this be a motherboard issue? I have tested both of my motherboards M.2 slots with no difference. Troubleshooting steps I have taken: 1. New drivers 2. Tested the drive in another computer with no issues 3. Scanned the drive - no errors 4.Tested the drive in all of my mobos M.2 slots, no difference. My PC specs: mobo: Asus ROG STRIX X470-F processor: Ryzen 2700X graphics card: Asus GeForce GTX 1070 OC ram: G.Skill Trident Z RGB psu: 550W Seasonic Focus+ boot ssd: 500gb Samsung EVO I hope someone could help me or that someone has had the same problem and knows a fix to this. Thanks in advance.

Hi, the problem: I replaced my 2060 with a 3060 Ti, now the monitor stays black (no matter which port, even Onboard) and the USB Devices won't run ( no LED), but all fans run normally. I tried to install the GPU in another PC and it runs perfectly. What i already tried: - replaced the RAM - Switched the PSU (700W be Quiet) with the one of the second PC (650W Corsair) - Switched the PCIe Slot - Removed my PCIe Network Card - disconnected all Drives and connected one with a fresh install of Win 11 - Replaced motherboard battery When I disconnected everything and after some failed boot attempts (the Drive with Win11 and the old GPU connected) the PC starts, so i don't think the Motherboard/CPU is the troublemaker. Maybe you have a clue, what I should do now Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english!

I have been building PC for years, and never been so confused about at RAM problem before. Hope that someone can explain why my RAM only will work as single instead of dual. I bought a used ASUS Rog Strix Z370-F Gaming, and put in at Core i9-9900K, and since the board is a dual memory design, I went home with Crucial Ballistix DDR4-3600 C16 DC 2x16GB. The manual says to use A2 and B2 slot for the two RAM sticks. But the MB won't boot, when the RAM is A2 & B2. There is simply no post, and the DRAM_LED lits up orange. I went and tried one stick at a time, and found that it will only post when B1 and B2 is used, making it use single channel, which sucks since I need dual channel for speed in Adobe Lightroom. Have I missed something here, or is the RAM slots not working?

I am not sure where to begin, but I will say this: I have a relatively new PC (about year and a half old or so,) and it is having a litany of issues as of recent. It is a 2700 cpu, 2070gpu, B450-fMOBO, and a 650W gold rated 80+ PSU, 32bg RAM. I do not overclock anything. Here is where the issue is interesting --- I can still play games... well, some of them. I can load into Apex, Splitgate, Siege, Ready or Not, etc no problem. However, certain games just make my PC entirely black screen, and the only way to fix it is to fully restart my computer. I have tried logging into event viewer only to be told that (paraphrasing) 'the PC shutdown for an unknown/unexpected reason' and that 'it rebooted without being cleanly shutdown first'. For example, I played about three hours on the PC port of God of War, absolutely no issues. Then I went to reload a game I have been actively playing for a few hours, and suddenly it crashes on start up every time. Sometimes it crashes ten seconds into loading the game, other times I load into the level and start moving, other times it drops at the menu. GoW isn't the only game this happens with either. For some reason this has happened in the past with Apex Legends, but it doesn't seem to frequent that game as I play it every day with no issues 99% of the time. However, I cannot load into GoW now at all. I have tried updating my drivers, I have tried verifying the install of the game(s) Other games I have seen the issue with: World War Z, Apex Legends (although this one seems to have resolved itself?), and now God of War. So my issue is: PC black screens --- the lights stay on, my keyboard is lit up, but the monitor will say that there is no connection. I can verify it isn't the cable because I have checked that as well. Additionally, the way the error is occurring would rule that out since it only happens when launching games/loading into some of them. Most importantly its that no commands work so its as if the PC is turned off (although it is clearly running --- fans spinning, RGB lit etc). So if I try to ctrl + alt + del nothing happens, same with windows + p and many other commands. It just goes black, and says that there is no media connection. This makes me think the issue would be a GPU problem, but then why can I run all of these other games no issue? Also, why would I be having issues with my GPU on a mostly new GPU that isn't OC'd or had any crazy wear and tear? This is strange because just as a test I just loaded into: Halo (new one), Splitgate, Apex, Ender Lillies, Super Meat Boy, and Siege. All of these games loaded no issue. However, the moment I go to boot GoW or WWZ it crashes without fail. I am at my wits end because I cannot buy games on a gamble that they will work anymore.... particularly since it seems to happen almost randomly in the sense that I played multiple hours of GoW before being met with the issue. Lastly, I have been checking the CPU usage/ Power usage and it is entirely normal. Nothing spiking like crazy, and the heat is well within the high thirties low 40s region.... Please, if anyone has any level of advice I do not know what to do. I have checked a myriad of 'solutions' and haven't found one that fixes the issue, or is something that I have already done....
