I am of the group that wants their basic keyboards and mice to be as inexpensive as possible, warranting me to want to make this post. This allows me to be as rough on my equipment as possible without worrying about the overall expense that I put into my purchases. I don't like to get stuff that will break easily though. My equipment needs to have a certain level of longevity. I often find myself just using the lowest model of name brand equipment or keyboards that are made to ship with prebuilt systems like Dell, HP, Lenovo etc. This time I ran into an issue where a default keyboard was running its time too fast and was not comfortable to type on at all. I almost bought a Logitech K120, but then came across the recommendation on amazon for the OfficeTec KB202 (~$10). Reviews on it were relatively promising so I went for it. This is a wired variant as I am not a fan of wireless solutions, but they do have a wireless option in the KB101 (~$14). This review may not be applicable to that model as it has a different base design. Here is what I found: Pros:- Inexpensive- Sturdy- Decent Feel- Easy Setup (plug and play/ no drivers)- Solid clicking on mouse- DPI buttonCons:- Poor non-slip pads- Awkward placement of scroll wheel (Big hands)- Backwards mapping of side thumb buttonsThe keyboard takes a short while, 30min, to break in before the keys both quite and gave a decent tactile feel. The keys are louder then a more expensive keyboard that is advertised as such, but the set is quite inexpensive and the keyboard is quieter then my previous one. The vertical "Enter" key takes some getting used to. I do enjoy it that way as the position of the |\ key is closer and easier to use for programming in my opinion. The media keys all function as expected. The "Home" key opens the default Web Browser selected in the Default apps section of Windows Settings, "E-mail" button opens the default email client, Play/ Pause/ Stop/ Previous/ Next all work to control the media playing in a media player, and the volume buttons control system volume. The only button that some may feel is missing is a button to open a Media Player. The overall construction is very light and has a significant amount of flex to it. This does not mean it is not sturdy. When checking the flex, none of the keys buckled on each other or showed signs of popping out and it did not make any creaking or cracking sounds. Again the keyboard is very light and will not stay in place without a rubber mat, new rubber pads, or (what I did) thick double sided rubber adhesive. I used some 3M tape on the bottom of the two pads and two legs. I also wore down the adhesive on the bottom of the tape a bit so that the keyboard did not fixate to the desk. I used this method because I had the tape readily available and use it for other application purposes. As for the mouse. The dpi button is nice so that the changes don't need to be made in the OS menus. The default sensitivity is rather low, so I took it up two notches. It appears to have 4 settings using the hardware dpi button. The scroll wheel feels good but is a bit high for my liking. I have used other small form mice that felt more comfortable then this one because they had a large vertical profile. I do not dislike the size of the mouse, it just makes scrolling a bit more difficult for me. The only gripe I have is the default mapping of the thumb arrows. The one pointing away from you is used as the back key while the one towards is used as the forward. I have since remapped it using a key mapper so that I had the standard use that I am used to. Over all I do feel this is going to last me a significant amount of time. Hey there, I have a Razer Naga Gaming Mouse and the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Mouse Pad. Randomly from time to time my mouse pointer will dash in a different direction that intended. Not inconvenient at the least. I have read online that it can be the sensor, but can it possibly be my mouse pad?

I have a Zeletos T80 mouse and it's pretty cool! I wish it had constant color (like the T90 apparently does), but overall feels and performs great. I was wondering about other people's experiences with this mouse or other mice with cool colored light-up features. Tell me what you like best about which mice.

So basically I have been using a CM Storm Xornet gaming mouse for the last 4 years. I LOVE The 3rd finger rest and the two buttons on the side have been great for programming easy moves in games, but I find that I could use more like 4 buttons or so. The mouse is pretty light weight and I would like for something sturdier Also the two top buttons switch the DPI fast but it goes from smooth and fluid to ridiculously fast in just 1 click. Can anyone recommend me a good quality mouse that would fix these issues. Thanks!

Hello! im back again, ive made a post about this before. and thought i had it fixed. the problem is my mouse and keyboard disconnect mostly while playing some games, but also while at the desktop. the only way i can fix the problem is to reset the PC, rarely im able to unplug and reconnect the mouse and/or keyboard to fix it. when this happens the LED's on the mouse and keyboard turn off i cant do anything with them resetting is the only option. I sometimes get the "a device has been removed" noise and message but very rarely. The keyboard is a Roccat ISKU, and the mouse is a steelseries sensei, im running windows 10. and a asus p8z68-v mobo, i would like to try a bio update. but honestly i have no idea what update i need. as asus have an update for the bios for windows 7? can i use that now im running win10? im fairly confused as to what i should try. but anyways thats my issue. would love some help and advice please its fairly aids when im enjoying a game many thanks, DaZulu x

Hi guys! Been a while since I've used the forums here. I've been looking for a new keyboard as mine feels to be wearing down quite a bit. I'm using an old Dell SK-8110 (which uses a PS-2 connection), and I like its form factor and somewhat of the way the keys feel. SK-8110: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Keyboard-Model-SK-8110-Interface/dp/B00366HMMO Honestly, I'm just looking for a similar keyboard to the SK-8110, but with some additional features: - N-Key rollover / 10-key rollover, etc. (or whatever it was that allowed you to press as much keys as you want and it would register); I've been pressing keys at the same time to the point they won't register at times - Similar layout / feel as the SK-8110 (none of those weird slim portable keyboards) - maybe a bit more tactile / faster press? I find mine to be heavy to press down on. - Preferable for usable for MMO, MOBA, programming, typing, media editing - Ships to Canada - Don't really care too much if it is 10-keyless or not, neither do I care for LEDs or whatnot - USB connection. They're all probably USB now though lol Sorry for being kind of oddly described, kind of hard for me to explain. That's probably why I need help haha. Thanks! Edit: Someone asked for budget - I don't really mind price as long as it fits my preferences, though the cheaper the better. Looking at the average prices of keyboards, it looks like mid $150 CAD? Still pretty flexible with price.

Question on a BOSD I recently encountered. The error was a System Service Exception (asmtxhci.sys) I checked the ASmedia USB3.0 eXtensible Host Controller and it seems to be working in Device Manager. The checked the system event logs and something apparently interrupted its operation. Anyway, I was able to reproduce the issue when I plugged in an Xbox One controller to the USB3.0 hub on my keyboard. What I noticed was that the keyboard would become less responsive. The caps lock and num lock seemed to lag behind actually enabling/disabling. Also, Device Manager reported the Xbox controller wasn't operating because of lack of power. Plugged the controller into the PC directly and the controller launched the installer (apparently the system needed the driver reinstalled???) and now it seemed to work smoothly. Apparently, my keyboard's hub can no longer power it correctly, although it has in the past.... albeit not well (i have previously quit plugging in through the keyboard hub... don't know why I decided to today). BTW, all my drivers are up to date on the motherboard and USB controller. TL;DR - Got a BOSD for System Service Exception (asmtxhci.sys). Reproduced the BOSD when plugging Xbox controller through Keyboard USB3.0 HUB. Is that even a possible cause of a BOSD? Does any of this sound like I should worry about any other components?

Hello, A few months ago I bought myself a Logitech G430 gaming headset. Since I've got it, I've used the standard audio port from my laptop to go to my headphones. However, only recently I found out that using the USB adapter that came with it offers better 7.1 surround sound (which is supports). Upon doing this, the audio quality dropped significantly and it sounds horrible. Is there any way to make my USB headphones sound better?

So I watched the video uploaded to LinusTechTips titled: Reviving my favorite mechanical keyboard - DIY Keyboard Repair Luke kinda shows off his keyboard and I immediately was interested in getting the same custom keycaps as he has on his DK9008G2. In the video there's an annotation bringing viewers to another video discussing keyboard upgrades, maintenance, etc. There's also a lot of links that bring the viewer to websites that sell keycaps and keyboards but NOT ONE of the sites was able to recreate his keycaps. I couldn't even find one that allowed custom Ninja Printing. That's my dilemma. Where do I go to be able to recreate and order those same keycaps? He has Black PBT, Gold ninja lettering keycaps. I need those man. I crave them. If only I was famous enough to contact Luke himself.

Basically the title, which is the better mouse? I am a fingertip grip and occaisional palm grip user and I mainly play FPS and flight/racing sims. Or if you like, suggest another mouse. Must be less that £50 and either colour-neutral or black and red. (Please don't suggest the new G502 Proteus Spectrum, too heavy and too expensive) Thanks everyone!

I have a flight stick that I use in battlefield and I was wondering if it is possible to buy a throttle. I want a HOTAS setup in Star Citizen but don't want to buy another stick as well. If you know of any throttles for >100 I would be very happy. My own searching has reaped little.

It's time to upgrade my peripherals (keyboard and mouse mostly). Just upgraded my sound and headset. Time for the things I use most. I would like a mechanical keyboard (pref with cherry mx blue switches), some sort of programmable macro keys, and wireless capabilities if possible. The rest would be extra and non essential. For the mouse, I have narrowed it down to the Logitech G502 and the G602. Other than the wireless capabilities, I do not know the difference. Can anyone elaborate on the differences? Suggestions? Would be used primarily for photo and video editing, as well as the occasional gaming session.

Ever since I installed Windows 10, 2 of my motherboard USB3.0 ports just won't work properly. When I try to plug in any device (thumb drive/external HDD, Android phone, USB hub) into these USB3.0 ports it makes the "plug-in sound" but nothing comes up in Windows or Device Manager. Strangely my LED mouse and the Corsair K70 lights up so power is not the issue. One thing to note though, in Device Manager under USB controllers the "Generic USB xHCI Host Controller" has a warning sign over it. I've tried updating it says the best driver is already installed. I'll list my specs and the things I've tried below. If anyone has any idea or suggestion please reply. Thanks! ------------------------------------------------- Things I've tried to solve this issue: Reboot Update the USB drivers in device manager Uninstall all USB drivers in device manager and reboot Updating the Motherboards BIOS and all it's drivers Taking my graphics card then trying the USB ports just in case it was a power SPECS: CPU: Intel Core i5 3330 3.0GHz (stock speed) Average temp 42 degrees (4 cores & threads) RAM: 6gb single channel DDR3 (I know it's bad). Motherboard: MSI H77MA-G43 GPU: Gigabyte 960 2gb PSU: Corsair CX600 (600 watts) SSD: Kingston HyperX 120gb, 2.5 inch HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 500gb

I need a keyboard to replace the crappy one that Ive been using with the new PC I built. Does anyone know of a decent, reasonablly priced board, with keys similar to ones usually found on laptops? I really dislike the long keypresses and feel of most boards, and I dont have the money to spend on a really nice mechanical piece with Cherry MX Browns etc etc. Any help is appreciated!

Hello all, I would like to map the keypad/command keys using AutoHotkey or the like from the original to the following layout: The "plus" and "enter" are obviously just the tall keys, and I will be inverting all keys so the primary/secondary layout is as indicated. Before I purchase the keyboard could someone confirm that the "1" and "3" key positions are in fact actived on pressing in BOTH numlock toggle positions (Like the image indicates I wish to put "home" and "end" on either side of the "up arrow" key). Or does the numlk key completely disable all use of the bottom two rows of keys? Additionally do the "plus" and "enter" keys have two states or are they unaffected by the numlock? I could not find any information to this on the web having read many forums and reviews. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I need a new keyboard, I've had a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate for about 2+ years so it's done me well. I of course want a Mechanical, back lit, all the usuals like n key roll over, anti ghosting, etc. I dont really care about (never used on my old keyboard) macro keys or really the number pad. I'd like Cherry MX key caps, similar to the blues that the blackwidow has. Any recommendations? Thanks. My budget is reasonable, £100 max

Hello LTT community. I am looking for a specific model of the Microsoft Lifecam Studio Webcam. See, almost all of the lifecam studios I have seen have a globe and a phone on the button on the top. The insides of this model are just a little bit different from the one I need. The difference is, the one I need, the one with a rectangular oval on the button on top, has a ribbon cable that joins the two cables. Here is my dilemma. A friend of mine modded one of those old Apple iSight webcams to fit a lifecam studio inside, and that only works if the ribbon cable model is used. It allows the circuit board to be placed at an angle and lets there be space for the locking mechanism inside the isight. The model with the globe and phone uses a direct connection and makes a 90 degree angle, which cannot be bent. This can't be fit inside the chassis of the iSight Webcam. So, after all that, does anyone know what I am talking about? And if so, do you know where I can buy one for cheap? ($20 - $50) Thanks.
