Just for fun, list the dumbest thing you've ever done while building or working on a PC. Mine was leaving the plastic sticker on the bottom of the CPU cooler block when installing it Luckily, I realized this before booting the computer up.

I've been assembling a computer on pcpartpicker.com and I was wondering if I should get a more powerful GPU and save before I buy the system such as a 1080ti or if I should get a cheaper budget graphics card like a 1050, just wondering.

Hello, I want to build a computer that can eat up anything I throw at it in terms of gaming and content creation. Right now I need some help picking out parts that get the job done fast and efficient. I'm looking to build a $2800 CAD gaming PC. It must be based around the Intel Core i7 7700K as from what I've seen it's still the best CPU for gaming right now even after Ryzen came out. Anything else is fine. I can go slightly above $2800 to $2850 if needed, but not anything higher. PCPartPicker lists are preferred.

This is my first gaming PC that I've built and I was wondering if it was good for the money. I've done a lot of research on the components? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MKDdFd

How do case fans work? do you put some of them so that the air blows into the case and then others blow air out? for example heres a picure i will make x = fans, I = Case, arrows = the way the air is going from the fan _________________________ / x ---------> x ---> I I x --------> I I I__________________________I if this is the case then i would install some of my fans to blow inwards and the others outwards right? and whats with the labeling of "static pressured" and such?

i'm looking for a case that would match the color scheme of this build. i showed it to my friend and he said the black case doesn't fit with the parts of the build. i thought the black of the phanteks luxe (black edition) looked good considering my ram was black and blue and my case fans were black and blue leds/blue trim. the only thing white is my motherboard which is white and blue with the pcb being black. so idk what to do. should i get the white phanteks luxe? or should i stick with the black one. or maybe i should go with a completely different case. Either way i already have all the parts besides the case so i'm looking for a full tower case to show off these goods with a side window. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vnR2bj

As you may have read from the title, I'm forming a plan for a parts-list that I will be putting together to create my first computer build. For this build, I am focusing on implementing the most "valuable parts" - I'm trying to put my money (up to $800) towards 'reliable' components that should last me a while. I already have peripherals and another new Windows 10; no need for more. This PC will mainly be used for plainly web surfing and occasional gaming, with the inclusion of video/photo editing and 3D designing - somewhat a medium load overall. After trying to do an extensive amount of my own research, I have come up with this list below: (All pricing originates from Newegg) CPU: $219.99 Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor *It's not overkill or as expensive as an i7 such as the 6700(K), yet it still offers a lot of bang for your buck, especially with its overclocking potential. CPU Cooler: $19.99 Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler *It will keep a moderate overclock cool without killing the budget, although I am considering getting a Corsair H50 closed-loop cooler. Motherboard: $110.98 Asus Z170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard *A lot of features with stability (during overclocking, although this is controversial...) all at a decent price point. Memory: $39.99 Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory *Allows me to have decent memory without breaking the bank - I can always add a few more sticks later. Storage: $59.99 Sandisk SSD PLUS 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive *Don't worry - I do not store tons of things on my computer like some people do; I'm a minimalist (the largest amount I have ever had stored on a computer was 120GB, as of now); I can upgrade or add a HDD later down the line, keeping my system of the SSD for speed. Video Card: $239.99 MSI GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX 12 GTX 1060 GAMING X 6G 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 HDCP Ready ATX Video Card *Pretty darn good price for the 6GB version, 3GB will fall short for my intended applications, perfect amount of power for me, and I think that MSI is alright... right? Case: $33.99 Corsair SPEC-03 Red ATX Mid Tower Case -or- $29.99 Rosewill Stryker M ATX Mid Tower Case *Both have USB 3 on front and designs look fine, price is right, but Corsair fits the color scheme (black/red), while Rosewill has 3 fans (blue), not the 2 from Corsair, and also has better airflow, yet doesn't have front or rear dust filters. What do you guys recommend for the case? (Sub 40-45 with USB 3 and window?) Power Supply: $44.99 SeaSonic G 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply * Good, reliable brand, with plenty of power - 1,000 watt is overkill unless you have 3 or more graphics cards, pretty good price and semi-modular Total: $760.91 What do you guys think? Any suggestions? Thanks! (this build is for Black Friday...)

Hello everyone, I would like to build a PC by myself. However, I have no previous experience in PC building or OCing, which is why I would greatly appreciate some help / tips from you guys, and whether my choices are reasonable. Why am I upgrading? There are two main reasons: Firstly, my current PC lacks performance in almost every aspect. I am working/gaming on my laptop (HP Envy 15-k265nz (2015)). It manages to run games like GTA V on the lowest graphics settings, but it sounds like a starting jet engine and produces similar amounts of heat while doing so. Secondly, I am interested in the process itself of fully building a PC from the ground up, as well as overclocking it. Budget & Location: I live in Switzerland and my budget is around 2000 - 2500 swiss francs, which equals roughly the same amount in US $. Aim: I would like to use my system firstly for gaming. At the moment I mostly play GTA V, Rocket League, Assasins Creed Unity and BeamNG.drive, but I would also like to play more performance hungry games like Assasins Creed Odyssey or Battlefield V in the future (which is not feasible with my current set-up). Secondly, I would use it for programming and maybe a bit of video editing in the future. Regarding the programs, I often use Android Studio, Unity, Gimp, Matlab and Visual Studio. The system should be able to run also future games and not require an upgrade anytime soon. Monitors: Right now I have one 1920x1080 monitor running at 60Hz, but I plan on upgrading it to a monitor with a higher refresh rate soon. OS: On my laptop, I currently have a dual boot system with windows 8.1 and ubuntu 16.04. I plan to install windows 10 on the new system and only run linux on the laptop then. Parts: Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming (LGA 1151, Intel Z390, ATX) CPU: Intel i9-9900K CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D15 GPU: ASUS GeForce RTX 2070S ROG Strix A8G Gaming (8GB) RAM: 2x8GB G.Skill Trident Z (DDR4-4133, DIMM 288) Storage: Corsair MP600 (2000GB, M.2 2280) Power supply: Corsair AX (850W) Case: be quiet! Pure Base 600 (Midi Tower) Optical drive: remove the one from an old desktop PC I have at home and reuse it Thank you very much for your help!

Hey, I'm looking at upgrading my current system which has many unknown/hard to identify cheaper parts including the motherboard and hard drive. The PSU seems to be an EVGA 600BR and if this is the case it will happily support the upgrades from: Intel i5-2320 @ 3Ghz GTX 1050Ti 16gb RAM (4x4gb) 1TB HDD 3.5" To an RTX 2060, Ryzen 2600, Seagate 2TB hybrid 3.5" drive, ASRock B450-Pro, and 256gb m2 SSD (this compatibility check was done pc partpicker) (The Seagate hard drive would be added and not replace the current hard drive) However, I can only find 1 6pin connector for the GPU and no additional SATA cable in the back of the pc? I have attached a photo of the PSU and if anyone could help identify it that would be appreciated. Is pc partpicker wrong? Is it a different PSU, as it seems that it would not have the right cables to support the upgrade? Thanks,

Just wanted to ask everyone what pisses them off about PC building can anything doesn't matter how big/small.. I'll start off products that don't have magnetic screws! Forgetting to put the IO shield (why can everyone just have it premounted is beyond me!) PC parts that still use Molex connectors - it's useless!!! SATA works just perfectly and there is an actual reason for it in a modern build the fact that you have to install at least 3 different application just to manage you RGB on a normal build (unlike most tech youtuber that get everything from the same vendor) There is a bunch more but that's enough from me...
