Hello,i want to get a video card for my dell optiplex 3040mt prebuilt pc.The problem is that the psu is only 240w and the case is too small for a regular size psu. Ideally i’d like to install a gtx 1050/1050ti low profile,but im not sure if they will work since they need around 50-80w. I was thinking about buying a new case and a new psu but the shape of the motherboard is weird and i think it’s not worth doing it since the prebuilts like this just aren’t made for that kind of thing. I could also buy a new psu in the same shape but i cant find it anywhere and i’ve heard that they are really expensive. So what can i do? In the worst case scenario i’ll buy a gt 1030, since it only needs 30w, i’m pretty sure that will work. Anyways please help me figure something out.there are 2pictures of my pc,the psu thanks

Hey I have an old optiplex 7020 with an i5 4690 in it and I was wondering if I got a pci to m.2 adapter if I could use it as a boot drive. It has that same bios that all the old optiplex pcs have. Hi,i have a prebuilt dell pc (optiplex 3040 sff) it has only 4gb of ram,i wanted to add 4gb more,but regular ddr3 didnt work. I found out that i need ddr3l ram for my pc,but i dont understand what the cl 10 or cl 11 means, i dont know where to find whar cl i have,can anybody tell me which one? Or what the cl means? Thanks -
I false started this one in the wrong section as a question at first and updated as I went along I got a sweet deal on a refurbished dell OptiPlex 7040 i5 8Gb DDR4 on amazon and set it up with a pcie 1x wifi card and a crucial M.2 for the hard drive set it up as my boot and a firecuda 1tb I got half price at microcenter (I buy a lot of thing their) and a EVGA 1050ti then ordered my sceptre 4k 27"(its sweet). was a good time and its so good looking my second monitor is a old hp 2133x that still looks good with the 1050tis help.

So i have a Dell Optiplex 3020 (full size) and I want to replace the case because I’m building a super cheap gaming pc and I want it to at least look good. But I saw that the front panel connections are proprietary and I can’t find the diagram for the PWR_SW and the FRONT_HDD_LED. Can anyone help me out?

Hey all, So I recently purchased a dell optiplex 790 SFF for pretty cheap The specs are: - i5 2400 - 8gb DDR3 1333Mhz RAM - 500gb HDD 7200 RPM - 240w Power Supply Say I was to have a budget of around $100 USD - Would a GT 1030 be the best option considering I'm limited by the PSU & Case? (This motherboard won't fit in your typical ATX or mATX case)

Hello all, I recently prurchased a Dell machine with an old BIOS revision (A02) and was having a hard time upgrading to the latest and greatest (A11). I don’t have a windows key so I’m using FreeDOS, which is booting properly, but when I run the reflash exe the prompt freezes like it’s running the exe. After freezing for 30ish seconds, the prompt returns nothing, and upon reboot the BIOS is still revision A02. I’ve even attempted this with the A03 revision update exe, which gives me the same result. I’ve followed Dell’s tutorial for updating the firmware with FreeDOS, and still get this issue. Any thoughts on a possible solution that doesn’t involve buying a copy of windoze?

I have a dell optiplex 380 that has a core 2 duo E6550 and I was wondering if I could upgrade that to something like a Q9400. I know which CPU's are compatible with the system I'm just wondering if the built in PSU will be a problem. The Optiplex is SFF and will be running 8gb RAM a GT 1030 and one hard drive and the CPU. The power supply is only 235W. Can somebody tell me if this will run in to problems?

kind of just want to pick peoples brains and see where this $270 pc takes me and what comes out of this for the community Starting specks "new"- i5 6500,500gb 7200rpm drive, 8gb DDR4 2133,the bigger 240 watt PSU(might be upgrade for SSF 180watt), stock fans WIN10 PRO and no discrete GPU right now. Things I have done today is made a dust filter for the intake it is going to live in a workshop environment "aka hell for electronics" I installed a crucial 240gb M.2 sata3 drive installed a fresh copy of windows pro on it and wiped the original drive making it separate storage taped over the white led indicator and taped up the back of the 5.2 bay in the front so it doesn't suck dirt into my drive bay. the first question I really have is has anyone found a aftermarket AIO that would work on the dell motherboard or atleast a good fan because I may if prices come down want to swap in the i7- 7700 or I might give up on the dell board and get a z270 board and put the 6500 in it back in this case because it has a lot more room than the SFF having a pair of 2.5 bays and the power for more drives along with the 2 full length 16x,8x pcie slots with the 1x and legacy pci also the back having dual display already and the 530 gpu surprised me with how much power it had over my older i5 -4210u with 4400 gpu dell xps 1820 that is my home rig for now. Also whats the opinion on a good priced monitor that would match up to the integrated gpu my current one is a hp 2311x so its 1080 60hz but its just kinda meh looking when im watching content.

So I have a Dell Optiplex 380 that has 4gb of memory (2x2gb) and I was wondering if I could upgrade it to 8gb. I've seen listings on ebay for 2x4gb kits for like $30 and I was wondering if I could buy it and put it in the system and have it work fine. Does anyone know of any restrictions the PC may have. I got a old optiplex 755 with a core2 quad processor and plan to pimp my rig with a ryzen 3 1200 and some random high end nvidia card from a flea market that said "works like new". Linus, pray for me man.

Hello, today i tried to change optiplex 790 case to a new deepcool case. I put everything inside. And also got new gigabit p650b. I installed everything back but came one pronlem with the front pannel pinouts. This deep cool case has different pinouts. It doesn’t have 5 pin power switch pinout. I tried researching and found that I can use the 34 pins pinouts for front pannel but I don’t know how to put the reset sw cable, hdd led cable, power sw cable into 34 pin. And which way because it has + and - terminal. Can alyone please help me out?

Hey guys, so I'm on a real tight budget so I bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 755 SFF and plan to upgrade it for some light gaming. Current specs include: Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 @2.2GHz, 4Gb DDR2 800MHz RAM, 1Tb HDD, and a Asus Radeon HD6450 1Gb. I planned on buying an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2.4GHz and four Samsung 2Gb DDR2 800MHz RAM sticks (max RAM for this PC is 8Gb). I'm stuck on what I should replace the GPU with. Current PSU is 275w and the PCIE x16 slot says its max power output is 25w. Since this is the small form factor case, I need a GPU that is half-height and has a fairly slim heat-sink/fan so it doesn't interfere with the HDD case right next to the PCIE slot. I was thinking about buying a Geforce GT 1030, but the "recommended" PSU output is 300w and it draws 30w from the PCIE slot. Also, my current BIOS version is A19. I don't need a super powerful GPU as my current list of games I play are CS:GO, Minecraft, Terraria, and League of Legends. -

Hello, I recently acquired a pretty neat machine packed with lots of features within a 1.16L package, but there is one thing missing, or... partially missing. Most versions of this model come with a WLAN module and the antenna to go with it, but mine sadly didn't. Now there is an M.2 slot for both an SSD and WLAN module inside, but no wiring for the latter. Now I have been looking around to see if I could find something similar to what Dell has, but finding a single antenna with two MHF-4 connectors seems very difficult, at least I have no luck yet. I don't really feel like drilling an additional hole in the back. I have contacted Dell and even found the part number, sadly, they're unable to provide it separately, so no luck there either. So, short but simple, anyone know where to get a single RPSMA antenna connector, with two MHF-4 plugs? PS: Anyone also know a solution for securing the WLAN card? The standard screws don't work. So I have this Dell Optiplex 780 DT or Desktop. I cannot find the specific power supply size, ATX seems a little too big. SFX seems too long and wide. I compared my Corsair CX500 to it and it seemed a little shorter, longer and wider. TFX is out of the question because it is WAY too short, wide. It is also too long.I need at least a 300w PSU with at least one six pin connector. I am using a GTX 560ti in it. I am modding the case so it can fit and I am going to use PCI-E risers. If the PSU has one 6 pin, I can use a 6 pin splitter. I am aware that the normal ATX 24 pin connectors will not fit and I already found a adapter. Does anyone have suggestions or work-around for this?

Recently, I purchased 15 optiplex 780 MT from my frnd as he upgraded all of his PC's to RYZEN 5 2600. He sold me all those PC's fr $300. Kinda low balled him. These PCs contain a core2quad q9650, 8gb ram, 500gb HDD. Here's my plan.... I'll be purchasing a couple of Radeon 7770's fr about $25 each ND I'll pop it in. I'll install Windows 10 on all PC's, install all latest updates and driver's and I'll sell them to the needy. I'm planning to flip them fr $100 each. My concern is.... will that power supply provide enough juice to that 7770. Or should I search for even more low powered card??

I picked up 2 old Dell Optiplex small form factor computers on an imulse from the car boot sale last weekend, and I am wondering what I should do with them. They are: Dell Optiplex 755 (2007) with Intel Pentium E8400 Dual core CPU, 4GB of RAM Dell Optiplex 380 (2010) with Intel Pentium [N/A] Dual core CPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM I can upgrade them to a core 2 Quad Q6700, and a Core 2 Quad Q9400 respectively, and the best card I can fit in them is a Nvidia GT 1030 (With a TFX power supply upgrade). There is only 2 SATA ports in one, and 3 in the other, both of which are using one for the optical drive, but an optical drive to SSD/HDD adapter will fix that if I want say an ssd and a hdd. I have come up with a few ideas so far A media server to allow my ripped blu rays, DVD's, and other films and videos to be streamed from my PLEX server to my Amazon Fire TV Stick (I currently use my gaming PC) A travel PC for light/older gaming A NAS server for my home network A Firewall server A "Frankenstein" PC for testing drives, RAM, CPU's, Hard/solid state drives etc That's all I got. Any suggestions? Thanks! -
