So currently I have a Ryzen 7 3700x, 2080 Super, and 32 gigs of ram. I am looking to upgrade my CPU possibly to the new Ryzen 9 5900x when it drops and my graphics sometime next year. Out of curiosity, mainly for gaming, Will I notice any performance increase by upgrading my CPU? I know that my 2080 super will be a bottle neck for faster CPU's, I just want to know if there will be any kind of increase even if its small, or will my GPU hold me back?

Hey, so IDK what to do here, but I ordered this gaming laptop that was supposed to come with an AMD Radeon Vega 8 graphics card, but I received a laptop that's supposed to have an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 graphics card, but when I checked the specs, it said both were installed. I don't know what to do because I am pretty sure that they cannot work together and I feel like having 2 graphics cards in a laptop could make it heat up easier, even if only one of them is being used. What do you guys think?

Hi guys and gals I am kinda new to this so I thought I'd ask opinions first, I recently acquired a nivida gpu (I assume palit by the power layout) however I have no idea what the card is Looking at the ram slots I am guessing a 1080 11gb however I am not sure on where to start the repair (if possible) Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Link to images (https://1drv.ms/u/s!ApfImBXZnhHzhkLKIm0K0k5KFC1v?e=xSwoPo )

This is my first post in here but I was planning on building my first serious build with high end parts but the 3080 is sold out everywhere. I was wondering if in the next few month the rtx 3080 will be something I can just go out and buy. If anyone could help me that would be awesome! Thanks

Hey guys, I'm debating about getting either an RTX 3070-ti or a RX 6900XT to replace my RTX 2070 super. According to Userbenchmark the 6900XT is slightly more powerful and has more VRAM, but sometimes reality differs from theory. I'm rocking an AMD Ryen 5 5600X on an Aorus B550 Pro at the moment. My monitor is 1440p, 144 Hz with HDR. Most games run ok (between 90 to 110 fps) but I'm trying to get a little more kick our of it. Any pros and cons or other recommendation? Thanks

As the title says i have been stuck on this for the better part of 16 hours whenever i install a graphics driver i am met with a black screen that never goes away until i hard reboot. afterwards i have to boot into safe mode and use DDU to uninstall the driver otherwise windows fails to boot. i have already tried every version of Nvidia's drivers since June with the same result. below is my system specs im currently at a loss as to what the issue maybe. im hoping its as simple as i need a very specific driver version but any help would be appreciated. Amd Ryzen 9 6950x ASUS Strix 3090 x670e Asrock Taichi 2x16gb gskill tridentz ddr5 1x 2tb mp600 (boot with win10 pro) 3 x 2tb Samsung 970 evo plus in raid 0 silver stone 1200w strider 80+platinum This is a fresh windows Install and rebuild of the system after my motherboard decided to die on my last week I figured i might as well just upgrade and get more nvme storage space.

Budget (including currency): ~ $500 - 800 USD Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming - Mainly Shooters - ~ 100 FPS - 1080p and 1440p I am currently planning to use a Intel Core i5-12600K, 16 Gb DDR4-3600 CL18 RAM, and a 750 - 850 PSU and need some help deciding on a GPU. I was thinking of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070. Is that going to be enough, too much, or too little for the build? Should I buy from NVIDIA (GeForce), somebody else, or one of the upgraded GPU's? Thanks for all of the suggestions!!

Summary The first batches of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40-series "Ada" graphics cards were in production since Q2-2022. NVIDIA has reportedly been stockpiling loads of its next-gen GeForce RTX 40-series RTX 4090 and the RTX 4080 GPUs across warehouses in Taiwan, China and elsewhere since August. Chinese GPU suppliers have allegedly been receiving stocks of the next-gen graphics cards for over a month now, and are likely the source of the recently leaked images. Quotes My thoughts This makes sense as to why we were hearing so much mixed information originally regarding the actual launch date of Ada. I remember at first the time frame given was supposed to be sometime in the Summer. However, more recently it seems they pushed it to the Fall because of the excess Ampere inventory. Now we know for certain that the reveal will take place on September 20th, and launch should be shortly thereafter. I also find the segmented 4080 SKUs interesting, as they are supposed to have different CUDA Core configurations as well. I'm wondering if this will come to fruition; the two 4080 SKUs alongside the 4090 SKU. We will know for certain in 4 days. Hey, I've been playing the MW2 beta since pc release, but ever since day 2 ive been having fps issues. 1st day no problem 144fps, settings on high. But 2nd day i log on i find myself struggling to get even 60 fps even on low settings. I have a 3060ti, i7-10700f, windows 10. I also have alot of packet loss. The pictures i have attached show my task manager performance while ingame, and a screenshot ingame with all the different network and performance settings shown. Is there a bright head out there knowing why i have fps issues? My drivers are updated:) And btw, my internet is trash, 15,6 mbps down and 45 mbps up.

EDIT: is it because im installing the wrong driver? i read somewhere that im only supposed to install One driver and not do auto detect but i dont know what that driver is.

Hi I have a MSI gf 75thin 9sd and I have a display issue where sometimes my screen flickers on YouTube if I pause a video and scroll down or up it turns the video completely green and on other applications like google or steam it makes the screen flicker. a few weeks ago my little sister accidentally made it fall on the ground and it landed on the screen and slammed shut I did update my Integrated GPU and I am using windows 11 so that may be the problem. my drivers are updated I also tried to go to Nvidia control panel and switch the preferred gpu for chrome but there was no effect Specs: OS: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit CPU: i7 9750H RAM: 16.0GB Dual-Channel ADATA (19-19-19-43) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti (MSI) IGPU: Intel UHD Graphics 630 (MSI)

My PC spec CPU : i7 8700k Ram : 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro GPU : Gigabyte RTX 3080 Board : ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X HERO PSU : CORSAIR - RM850x I noticed when running a benchmark that the most power my 3080 draws is around 212W max and my board is 365W. I thought the 3080 should go up to 320W max. Is there something wrong here?

Hi i just wanted some help in understanding this from asus website Engine Clock OC Mode - 1935 MHz (Boost Clock) Gaming Mode (Default) - GPU Boost Clock : 1905 MHz , GPU Base Clock : 1440 MHz this is my HW monitor numbers

I read that you cannot scale a single display when using x11 like I have to because I use nvidia. But I find that odd because cinnamon, which also uses x11 can scale both monitors separately from one another just fine and it also uses x11. Any ideas on how to get around this kde limitation? The nvidia settings are no help either, because they are extra limited on fedora for some reason, compared to ubuntu that is. Any ideas on how to get around this issue?

So I Switched out my 3060 ti with a 3080 and I switched out my seasonic gold 650w psu with a 1000w g6 evga gold psu. When I booted it on my 3080 lit up, my fans were spinning, and the psu was running, but I had no signal on my monitor :/ I put my 3060 back in and it started running just fine. So probably a dumbo question to ask in this vast void of a tech tips forum but is the 3080 borked or is there something else I'm missing here like updating drivers or something? Like the card powers on and lights up so it can't be really dead right?

Hello, So I've had my RTX 3090 for almost two years now, and since then, I've seen a lot of performance issues compared to my RTX 2080 TI. For example, when playing Ark Survival, ill see random 30 to 40 fps drips. This could be the game itself, but I've had many other experiences like this in Deep Rock Galactic, City Skylines, and a lot of older games like Call of Duty World At War. I thought it was just because it's a newer card, and it has some driver issues to work out. Though it's been long enough to where I think it's on my end or just a faulty card. Any advice would be apricated. Thank You The rest of my PC specs here. Ram- G.Skill-3600, 32gb Motherboard-ASRock Z390 Steel Legend CPU- I9 9900K Storage-SSD 970 EVO Pulse storage-SSD 850 EVO.

Just recently installed Ubuntu to get into Linux but ran into a problem of it being slow, apps taking time to open and videos dropping framerate down to like 10fps. I also noticed that my CPU 2 core is basically always at 100% or is jumping up and down like a monkey while other cores don't go above 10% and there is no process using over 10% of the CPU. What can be the problem and can I fix it?

pc build Solid Minecraft, Forza Horizon 5, and Virtual Machine PC
techElliott posted a topic in PC Gaming
I want to build a PC that can give me good frame rates and RTX Support in Minecraft and Forza Horizon 5. I want an Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU. I also want to do some PHP programming and run VMs on a linux environment. I think an Intel 12700K and a Nvidia RTX 3050 with 32GB of ram would be fine for what I want to do. I want to game in 1080p at 120Hz and I am fine with DDR4 Ram. I think that the integrated graphics in the 12700K would be fine for me in a VM. If anyone has suggestions on what I should get feel free to let me know, I am in no hurry. FYI I am running a Dell OptiPlex 9020 with 32 GB of ram to play minecraft. techElliott- 2 replies
