Hello guys, so I'm getting money soon and I decided I want to upgrade my computer, also for other reasons as well since I'm going to give this PC to someone. My current setup is actually rocking for the games and what I'm doing, but I want to change things around since I wanna play all the games I want at ULTRA settings on 1080p. I know the build that I'm going to show you will be way too overkill for 1080p but that's what I'm here for, for you to point out what I should change, etc. My current build : http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/ps33K8 What I want to build : http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/nzgrzy A friend of mine pointed out to get the 6700k instead of the i7 since it's better and to go with DDR4 since the prices have been reduced a lot.. will let you guys tell me what you think. He also said the 980 ti will be way too overkill for 1080p which I totally agree but I want it to be future proof. I'm wondering if I should go with the 970 instead. I'm going with the i7 because I want to be able to play games and at the same time watch a stream on the second monitor I wanna get which is kinda hard atm with the g3258 (not overclocked) So what you guys think?

I'm planning to upgrade from my current Galaxy Tab S 8.4" to a bigger screen. My use case is multitasking and watching videos/movies in bed mostly. Well, first I've checked the Tab S2 9.7 which have a 4:3 screen ratio and no stereo speakers , which a little bit feels like a drawback for me, especially for my needs. Therefore, I've been looking around and found the Asus T100HA with 4gigs of RAM and 64 GB of storage, I wonder how it performs ?! any special advise !!!

Hi guys, I've never used pc a lot, but I'll start using now. I'm stuck with a core 2 duo E6750 and 2GB RAM 'til this day, but I'll change that soon. I just bought a LGA 1151 skt motherboard/psu/ssd/case. Now I'll buy the RAM and CPU. The tasks I'll be doing are mainly working with a little photoshop and little gaming. Currently I only play cs:go, league of legends, left 4 dead 2 and pes 2016 (this all on a 1650x1050 monitor). Not heavy at all. I'll actually be using the cpu internal gpu to play those. I want to be able to watch to streams at max settings and watch youtube videos at 1080p + res. Beside that I want to be able to be in a game with spotify open and chrome and those kind of things. My question here is: Is an i3-6100 fast enough for this kind of things? Or will it eventually freeze/stutter if I start opening programs while playing the games above mentioned? I'm really on a tight budget.. Just wanna know if the i3 is capable of doing this things for me.. 'cause my e6750 cant even let me watch 720p youtube videos..lol

Hello there, I want to make a quick thread asking you guys for help with my triple monitor setup. Currently i have 1 main monitor which is a BenQ 23 inch monitor. And a few days back i bought 2 identical other monitors which are LG's 21.5 Inch. Now i love tripple monitor setup in the first place and i would personally never want to go back to 1 monitor as i was stuck with having only 1 after completing building my gaming rig (upgraded from laptop which had 1 monitor aside which is now my main). Now the obvious question: How would i be able to play ETS2 and ETS2MP (mod) without having screen diffrences ingame. i know diffrend sized monitors asks for difficulties when it comes to gaming as it is only greatly compatible with workflow. But is there any option for me not having to swap my main monitor? I don't play games only, but i also make great use of all three monitors while working on my desktop or when normal multitasking. I have surely multitasked my way into google's search engine to only find out i can't seem to find any proper answer to my problem. The link below is a screenshot taken by Gyazo's screenshot engine to specify my setup. Hi everyone Recently, I've been debating whether or not if it's time to upgrade. I am leaning towards Intel because of how superior core to core performance is compared to AMD. The build would be mainly for gaming and semi-heavy multitasking (running general programs while gaming and/or watching a stream). What do you guys think about the x99 platform? Is that worth considering or no just stick with an i5? My budget is flexible considering I'll be using some of my current parts. Please share any advice! NOTE: I am not looking to do SLI or Xfire Current Rig: AMD Zosma X4 @ 3.8 ASRock 970 Extreme3 G-Skill 8GB DDR3 1333 HIS 6950 2GB Corsair III 60 GB Samsung Pro 256 GB Seagate 250 GB Rosewill 750W Gold Rated

My computer is not enough for me anymore. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Usually parts on "alternate.de" , "caseking.de" , "arlt.com" are cheaper than "Amazon.de" maybe you can use this sites for my build i plan buying parts over them but i will look where the "X" part is chepest before i buy. I want 5820k and 980ti with NZXT H440 + Edit: x61kraken on my build :) Thanks in advance!

Go...Canada A new international test shows Ontario students are among the most computer literate even though the province's schools generally put less priority on facilitating the use of technology than other participating countries. The study was conducted on about 60,000 Grade 8 schools in 20 countries, Under The International Computer and Information Literacy Study, Students had to perform basic tasks such as copying or saving a document, creating and modifying information and using multiple applications at once. They also had to answer a questionnaire, as did teachers, principals and technology co-ordinators. Damn i love this picture .. The study looks at students' ability to collect, manage, produce and exchange information using a computer, as well as teachers' and principals' attitude and confidence regarding technology in the school setting. Girls scored higher in overall computer literacy than boys, but boys reported being more confident performing advanced tasks such as creating a computer program or building a website. It is believed to be the first international test of its kind. The province is in a statistical tie for the top spot with Australia and the Czech Republic. So there you go, Canadians yet again proving why they are even better than the rest of the world..Please do leave your thoughts & comments on this down beloooooooooooooo... Everytime I play any video game (Battleflied 3, Call of Duty 4, Dirt3, STEAM games like Team Fortress). Any other time it doesn't freeze... It's odd, no freezing wwhile rendering or multitasking. I've watch the CPU use and only it's top while gaming... The PSU gets hotter while gaming than rendering or multitasking. I ALSO NOTICE A SOUND WHEN THE COMPUTER FREEEZES, THE HDD MAKES A SOUND. SOMETHIMES I RESTART AND THE HDD WON'T READ... Only when gets to a "normal" temperature... My specs: Elitegroup ECS G31T-M v1 MOBO 500W GENERIC PSU (about 2 years without problems like this) Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 (NOT OC) 2x2Gb Kingston DDR2 Ram 500Gb Seagate 5000 RPM Sapphire AMD 6870 HD DESKTOP CONFIGURATION: PS2 keayboard, 1366x768 AOC 18.5" LED display, wireless generic mouse, 2.5 CREATIVE SOUND SYSTEM (locates just above GENERIC ANTECK CASE)... I read that sometimes the subwoofer may couse magnetic interfence but why only while gaming... :S NON ADICIONAL HDD NOR DISK DRIVE. I got a small fan to one of the USB, a wireless Mouse Receiver, a mini USB-B to debug MCU and school stuff and a MADCATZ 360 CONTROLLER, sometimes 1 or 2 USB drives. Adicional software I use: Solidworks, Rhino, Matlab, CSS, Steam, LabView, Spotify, iTunes, NO PROBLEM MULTITASKING THIS. (In the worst case scenario SOLIDWORKS, SPOTIFY, MATLAB AND CSS where running but not freezing). THE COMMON PROBLEM I HAVE IT'S THAT CHROME STOP WORKING, doesn't matter if it's 1 windows or 20, randomly crash... RUNNING WIN 7 ULTIMATE 32 BITS, AND THE HDD MAKE A SOUND WHILE FREEZING OR TRYING TO REBOOT UNSUCCESFULLY I HOPE YOU COULD HELP ME

EDIT: Thanks to the advice of the posters below I am going with this for my final build: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: Intel Core i7-4930K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor ($578.99 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler (Purchased For $87.04) Motherboard: Asus P9X79 LE ATX LGA2011 Motherboard ($224.99 @ NCIX US) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($299.99 @ NCIX US) Total: $1191.01 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-05-26 21:19 EDT-0400) If there's anything glaringly wrong with that feel free to let me know, otherwise consider this topic closed. Thanks guys! Original post begins here: ------------------------------------ Hello everyone, first time posting here so be nice So I'm rebuilding my core system right now with the following use cases in mind: Multiboxing online games Music and Video editing and production Multi-monitor gaming Let me preface the next part by saying I'm not necessarily buying all my parts from newegg, but I'm using newegg as it's a pretty easy stats reference and it's all in one place. So here's my current system for some contrast with newegg links for all the specs you could ever want. 3x Lg E2360 23" 1920x1080 Screens EVGA x58 SLI-3 Motherboard - Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188068 Intel Core i7 950 Processor (Stock 3.06Ghz) - Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115211 24gb G.Skill 1600mhz Ram - Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231358 1x EVGA Gtx 590 Classified - Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130693 2x Samsung 2Tb 5200 Rpm Storage Drives - Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152245 OCZ Vertex4 256Gb SSD - Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227792 OCZ ModXStream 700W 80+ Certified power supply - Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341018 Fractal Design Define XL - Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352005 So here are the problems I have with this setup: Live encoding of video (Open broadcaster etc) can cap out my processor causing framedrops in game and choppy recordings in some extreme cases. I intend to be able to run up to 20 or more Eve Online clients (graphics settings are of no consequence to me, only the frame-rate and system performance outside of the clients) As it is currently, however, I can only run 11 before I begin to see sharp drops in framerates and my system struggles to do much out of game. (Even opening Chrome is difficult). I believe the bottleneck in performance here is my processor as I start losing frames as soon as my processor hits 100% (pretty obvious if I'm honest) and applications opening slowly out of game is a pretty telling sign that graphics horsepower isn't my problem here. Video editing can be slow and difficult as previewing is problematic with large format recordings and large file size recordings like Fraps outputs which can be in the 4GB range for a 4 minute recording. Rendering is also slow. Taking between 10 and 15 minutes per 2 minutes of rendered video at 1080p by 30Fps. This I know is not going to be magically fixed by upgrading as rendering can and will be a slow process in most cases but it's enough of a factor for me to justify my processor choice. And number 4 leads me into the new build. I'm on a budget (if you can call it that) and can't afford a complete rebuild so I'm only upgrading the Processor, Motherboard and RAM, with a Noctua NH-D15 thrown in there for CPU cooling. Parts List can be found here: Intel Core i7-4930K - System Build - PCPartPicker ASUS Sabertooth X79 Motherboard - Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131801 Intel Core i7 4930k plan to lightly overclock to around 4Ghz. - Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116939 1x 16Gb G.Skill 2133Mhz ram kit with plans to add a second kit at a later date. - Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231473 So there it is. I am looking for general critique before I purchase the components which I plan to do in about 2 or 3 months. The total build cost is going to be about $1,150 US including the cooler which I've already purchased. The main question I have is whether or not I should wait until the new 2011 architecture is released (Not sure when that will be), or will the 4930k be a good option? I'm looking for a system that will fill the holes mentioned above and a system that will serve me well and stable for another 4 to 5 years with a graphics card upgrade. (I plan to likely upgrade the GPU when the 800 series is released as there are no real compelling options to follow my 590 up with at this time.) I built my current system in 2010 minus the graphics card and would like to keep what I have here until 2018 - 2019 (Again, excluding the graphics card). Will likely edit for spelling and grammar. Thanks for your insight and for reading this wall of text

Hi, I am building a PC and was suggested the Acer H236HLbid. I love the look of that monitor, but the only downside is that it has no VESA mount. I am looking to buy two monitors. I would like to change their orientation from landscape to portrait when I want to. So basically, I am looking for a monitor that would be sufficient for gaming, have a VESA mount, thin bezels like the Acer, and preferably a matte display so I don't have to deal with gloss and change my lighting. I am looking for something around the price point of the Acer I mentioned. Ideally, I want the price to be below $150. Thanks!

How is it going guys? I was wondering which cpu is better for multitasking or extreme multitasking ( rendering multiple videos in HD, playing bluray, gaming, compressing or decompressing, compiling, etc etc all at the same time ) or whatever, right now, and how would it be in the future? And please don't do that of comparing OC 8350 vs stock 4770k, let's put both at 4.4 ghz for example, how do ya think they would handle the ''extreme'' multitasking? which one would be the best? :P Have a nice one

I'm in the market to build a new PC. My intent with this PC is to both game and stream from the system. The system will be doing a fair amount of multitasking and I was wondering if a 6700k could handle it or if I should go with something like a 5620k/5930k. I don't have much knowledge on skylake and some help would be appreciated.

Okay, so I've got a really old desktop downstairs in the living room with an i7-2600K (Not overclocked) and a disgusting 550TI. My father gave me permission to buy a desktop and put it in my room! I got to pay it myselves and I'm kind of on a budget. A small budget. I'll be getting a GTX 1060 (3GB) and an i3-7100 (I'm well aware of the giant downgrade with the CPU). Now I've got a question about the CPU. So as long as I don't multitask too heavily, an i3-7100 should be fine, right? I know I can get the i3-6100 and it would work similary to the 7100, but I want the 3.9 GHZ so I have at least one spec which is better than the 2600K (Turbo boost 3.8). I know this won't make a huge differece but I don't want to get the feeling that I'm completely downgrading my CPU. The biggest difference I can think of between the i7 and i3 is multitasking, am I right? I'm not the kind of guy who watches livestreams while gaming and browsing his Twitter at the same time. I'm very organized when it comes to PC's and I know what game-settings make my FPS drop. The biggest type of multitasking I'll be doing would be just gaming and recording the gameplay with Shadowplay. If that would be the heaviest multitasking I would do, will I be OK with the i3-7100? That's my question! Thanks in advance and sorry for the long text, I like explainig stuff.
