Hi all I changed my current setup with a SSD and a HDD with Intel Optane (to get another SSD m.2) and just use the HDD as a regular storage for pictures, videos, etc. I have disabled the Intel Optane from the rapid storage software, but if I change the settings in Bios (Asus MB) and make sure that I have AHCI in Sata Mode Selection (PCH storage) I can´t boot and it will just restart after trying to boot.. Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this? If I remove the Intel Optane, I will only be able to see the new SSD and not the old HDD

I have a HP 15t-dy100 laptop with an Intel i5-1035G1, 16gb of ram. The current storage is an Intel Optane+256GB SSD and I am trying to upgrade to a Crucial P5 Plus 1tb, I’m having some issues. The laptop will not recognize the new ssd at boot or in the bios. I used Marcium Reflect to clone Windows 11 and the data is there. The Crucial drive is set to GPT. Suggestions, please. Thanks.

So, I have an HP Spectre 15 (2019) with a 500gb Intel Optane SSD in it right now (in the only M.2 slot, so it's my everything drive). I want to upgrade the storage to 1tb and I have a WD Black Sn750 SSD that I got to use. I'm looking into cloning my og drive (I'm going to get an external SSD enclosure to put the new one in for the process and for my old drive to act as extra storage) so I don't need to reinstall everything windows/program wise, but when I was at Best Buy the guy I talked to said they cant clone from Intel Optane. From what I found about regular cloning it seems pretty straightforward so is there anything else special I need to do to make it successful with Optane? Any other general help would be much appreciated, this is my first time trying something like this! ($200 for someone else to do it felt steep lol) Thanks!!

Good day guys, I just bought an Acer Nitro 5 which was in a clearance sale from a store for around $450 the product link is product website electronics are very expensive in my country hence it was a good deal for me, I got it is having a 1tb HDD+16gb intel optane drive I mainly use it for programming(SQL +android studio) and games(CSGO, factorio etc) so was wondering if I should replace the optane drive with a SSD I would like to mention that optane drive cost around $500 for a 4gb variant so was wondering if I should leave it and SSD also don't cost less please recommend I am not an inpatient guy and this laptop is for basic things have a work computer at my company provided by them which is much more powerful for programming this is just for basic nothing intense is the 1tb HDD+16gb intel optane drive enough I have hit bottleneck in installing games, but I feel that is usually true even for ssd

Hey, I have questions regarding m.2 ssd, My HP Pavilion laptop (15-bc406tx) has m.2 slot, manual doesn't specify which type of slot is it. But in the manual, they show support for m.2 SATA sdd 128 Gb plus support for Intel optane memory of 16 Gb Pcie gen 3x2. My Questions are: Does that mean, my laptop support M.2 nvme ssd's, as it supports Intel optane memory of 16 Gb Pcie gen 3x2; cause they haven't mentioned m.2 nvme ssd in manual. Also which Gen of Pcie is it? 3x2 or 3x4? What if it supports M.2 Nvme Sdd's with Gen 3x2, what happens if we put 3x4 in it? is it recommended? Stated(in manual) M.2 SATA ssd low, can we add 1Tb ssd instead of 128Gb? Thank You!

I have a Legion Y530 and it has an Intel Optane 16gb cache drive and a 1tb BarraCuda HDD. I already have a replacement SSD for the hard drive on the way, but I am also looking into changing that Optane cache drive into an actual m.2 storage SSD. My question is if I just simply replace the Optane for a regular SDD will that work? Is there something I need to do in BIOS or windows settings to tell the laptop it no longer has a cache drive? I don't know if the picture helps, but better to have it just in case

Dear Experts, Can you please clarify about Intel Optane. Is it a Hard Drive? or it supports Hard Drive to accelerate? is it only to install OS like Windows, Ubuntu or Can i store little data also in it? my purpose is to install lite OS like Ubuntu and Browse, nothing more than this, i dont need any data storage. So can i use Intel Optane for this purpose or is it mandatory to use HDD, SSD paired with Intel Optane.. Please answer Y or N to run a PC with KabyLake supported mobo+7th gen processor Intel Optane is enough or Intel Optane plus HDD/ SSD?? Thanks in Advance.

intel optane Reformat intell optane to be boot drive?
BoisterousCoder posted a topic in Storage Devices
I was looking at buying the GS63VR. I am already going to replace the existing hard drive, and install my own SSD in the other drive bay, but I thought I might be able to use the m.2 port the install an Intel Optane SSD. However, I since I know Intel Optane won't help an SSD, I was wondering if I could reformat it the Intel Optane to act as my boot device. Also, is it worth the cost? I do not want to spend the money on a larger m.2 SSD since I already have a SATA SSD. I just want an m.2 SSD that is just big enough to boot from. -

My new system I had just setup is running on the Kabylake 7700K alongside the Asus Rog Swift Z270E. It's ready for Optane. From what I read in the official Intel website, it can only run on a bootable SATA drive which has to have Windows 10 in it. The drives that I have in my rig are: 1 x Samsung 960 Evo NVME M.2 250GB 1 x Samsung 850 SSD 256GB 1 x Seagate 2TB 7200RPM (This is for storage) 1 x WD Blue 1TB (Windows and games) I will be running Optane on the WD Blue HDD. And the reason for this is because I will be installing tonnes of games here and I want to run everything fast. The 2 Samsung SSDs simply do not cut it due to their limited available space. So the noob question is as follows: I read the Asus manual. It said that in order to run Optane, I have to switch to the RAID controller from AHCI controller. And... Due to the limitation of the Intel Chipset, all the drives will be in RAID mode. If I did not create any volumes, can the other 3 drives still be read in the system?

Hello I have got an HP pavilion X 360 14-cd0055tx laptop. Originally it came with and Intel optane SSD Plus 1 terabyte standard Hdd. I am having a very slow boot times and I want to upgrade my 1 terabyte hdd to a fastest Samsung 860 EVO SSD. My main question is that will it work. I don't want any main performance boost which I will get from the optane enable. I just want to ask that is it compatible to use a Intel optane module with the Samsung 860 Evo SSD. The main issue is that the HP BIOS is not letting me change the controller options from IRST to AHCI which is causing me a lot of problems while inserting a nvm drive into the m.2 slot. Mt nvne drive freezes randomly. Therefore now I am being forced to use sata SSD with Intel optane. I just want to know that this configuration will work I don't need any Intel optane benefits which I will get. "Which means don't write comments like that when you put a Intel optane drive with the sata a SSD drive you won't get much benefit from it". I am not looking for benefits the sata SSD speed will be a boast either way. I just want to know that it won't give me any trouble.

So I can't say I have indefinite proof of this being a thing but when it comes to GTA at the very least, I feel like Optane definitely effects it in a bad way because I remember before I had Optane installed I wouldn't have issues like this. Anyways, the issue I am talking about is that the game will seemingly just start to unload the area I am in which will lead to me being able to see through the world and sometimes entire buildings would unload while I am flying and decide to pop back into existence only once I am 30 feet away from theme and basic tasks like pulling up your phone and bringing up the interaction menu take ages. I've posted about this in a help ticket in Social Club but was just told that "things like this normally happen in GTA" and I am rather sure they don't. To be honest I don't even know if this is the right forum for this but I am desperate at this point.

Hi all, new to the forum. Here is my current setup: i9-9900k MSI MEG Z390 ACE 1 TB NVMe Samsung 970 EVO M.2 installed in the M2_3 slot (Operating System) 1 TB SATA Western Digital M.2 installed in the M2_2 slot using 32 GB Intel Optane M.2 installed in the M2_1 slot 1.5 TB Western Digital HDD installed in SATA2 32 GB 3200 Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3 I bought an Intel Optane module to increase speeds when accessing my HDD, but I've been trying to get it installed for about a week now, and I can't seem to understand what I am doing wrong. I have ENABLED the following: M.2 Port Remapping for the M2_1 slot SATA Mode: RAID/Optane Mode M.2/Optane Genie UEFI Boot (greyed out, cannot change) I've installed the Intel Optane Memory driver, but when I open the Intel Optane application, I get the following message: No compatible disks for Intel Optane memory. Any ideas?? I'm going crazy.

Yesterday I got a Samsung EVO 970 and I played around with it for some bit. A while later, I wanted to change the M2 slot so I swapped it with my Intel Optane, which I used to boost a 2TB HDD (not my primary drive). A couple of minutes later I realised that the drive was gone, and Optane was now showing up in Disk Management. I tried creating a partition from it (which was probably extremly stupid) and then, reinstalling the software, but I kept getting the same message (No compatible disk). I even tried reinstalling Windows, but to no avail. My 2TB drive is no longer accesible. I'm thinking that this happend because I took out the Optane module and put it into another M2 slot. I tried putting it back where it was before, but I guess I did it too late, because earlier I created a partition from the module. I have an option in my BIOS to Reset to Non-Optane (my mobo is a Z370-H) but it also says that my 2TB drive is detected as 1 of the 2 disks paired (the other being Optane) and that if I reset it, all data will be lost. Unfortunately I cannot do that, as I have a ton of work files on that drive. I tried Hiren's CD but no software from there works. Nothing detects the HDD anymore, besides the BIOS. If I go through with the Reset to Non-Optane from the BIOS, will I be able to recover my data or am I completely screwed? Thank you!
