Hello, i have problem with my old HP Notebook - 15-af109ax regarding to driver issue. The problem is when i update the driver to legacy adrenaline driver for amd r5 m330, it got this mouse lag problem every few second which is kinda annoying. But when ddu back and install the recommended gpu driver from hp website (which is the old catalyst driver thing, idk im not familiar with it) i got a problem where every startup theres always BSOD with "thread stuck in device driver" message. After that, it restart and runs fine. Now i tried to google around but theres no clear answer for it so my effort for this problem is : 1. Update BIOS to the very latest one from hp website, didnt work sadly. 2. While using the "catalyst" version i manage to avoid BSOD by disabling the driver display adapter from device manager which is kinda pointless because i cant change the brightness with driver disabled or even with no driver installed, the laptop stock brightness is too bright for me and it kinda hurt my eye. Now currently i ddu whole thing again and use the adrenaline version for a while until theres a clear fix. Is there any other fix for this issue ?

Hi guys, new bee here, I don't know exactly how this works. but I need help from you guys to choose a laptop that is as much useful for my requirement. My requirement are multipurpose: as my profile name tells, I am a writer(struggling writer), a good keyboard with number pad with back light would be great. I am also future locking myself to learn about photo editing, & video editing, so CPU and GPU should tolerate applications I wanna work with even if it didn't excel at it. I am casual gamer, with more interest in racing, tactical fighting, and story mode games, and want to try Minecraft, actually never played ever. which ever the best screen for requirement above please share your knowledge on this. I'm on a limited budget & from India. to make it easy for you I would share my configuration. Thanks to Linus-tech-tips & other countless videos about Tech I did learn few things. but please feel free to share any kind of inputs, opinions and advice on the specs or even completely entire difference specs. wishful-note: I did considered MacBook but its way to costly for me, if any one would sponsor I would eternally grateful to you, even if partly. My configuration List: CPU: 11Gen i5/i7 or 12Gen i5 or AMD ( I don't know which is equivalent to intel counterpart, please share their models name/numbers) RAM: preferably 16Gb, or 8Gb with upgradability Storage: Minimum of 512Gb SSD, 1TbSSD would be great, (I don't think I have Enough Budget for NVme SSD, So SATA would be fine for now.) GPU: preferably 4Gb of Nvidia dedicated GPU ( I don't know much about GPU's please share how would be enough, and is integrated GPU is enough for my configuration? NVidia's equivalent to AMD GPU also fine.) Display: IPS display with 60/90 Hz with at least of 300 or above nits. Ports: USB-A= 2, USB C =1, headphone jack, SD card reader, (I'm Flexibility on the ports availability) Size: 15'' or 14'' inches display. webcam:1080p or 720p also fine. Keyboard : Backlit with number-pad (even without N-pad would be great.) OP : windows 11 Battery: 6 hours at least 8 hours would be great while I'm writing/browsing. note: I thought about building or buying prebuild, desktop but it isn't mobile at all. but I wanted fully portable computer so that's why I decided to go with laptop. please share your opinions, knowledge, advice, links to websites, model names even if its from US/Canada, that would be great. My Main priority is writing and learning editing. gaming is not necessarily have to, if it fits with my main goal then its fine if not I am flexible. Thanks for reading. Mr Writer.

I have a HP elitedisplay and ive connected it to my pc, the monitor has a usb hub built in and ive connected it to the computer using a usb 3 cable for the starting few months it worked fine but after that the usb hub, camera and the mic built in the monitor have stopped working even though the cable is connected. I thought it was the problem with the monitor and called hp customer care and they sent a engineer with a new monitor to check the problem out, after connecting to the same problem still remains. The hp engineer mentioned that it might be an issue with windows and he told me if i reinstall windows the problem might be solved, so i did reinstall windows and still this problem continues. And also i tried installing the drivers of the monitor from the hp support website and when i tried running the installed firmware there was a prompt "your elitedisplay e234m was not detected". Should i try installing the motherboard drivers? What should i do at this point?

Hello, I have an Hp Pavilion 16 Gaming laptop. 10th Gen i5 10300h Gtx 1650 4 gb 16 gb DDR4 256gb m.2 1tb sata SSD Bios F.23 (AMI) The laptop is just 1 year old, I upgraded it to Windows 11 And it started running warmer than usual after a Windows Bios Update, I made sure everything was super clean, and I re pasted the CPU and GPU also using new thermal pads, I used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut,, ok it idles as 38-40 Celsius, I tried to do a stress test for 1 min and it immediately went up to 99C thermal throttled and Power Limit Throttle, when I’m doing basic things, it runs around 75-83C,, When I game it runs about 85C but spikes to 99C often and thermal throttles,, I don’t understand why I have done the paste and pads 3 different times, the fans won’t kick on until it’s already throttling, IDK what’s goin on but it has became a nightmare,, it never done this before Windows 11 and the windows bios update, and I have Reset it back to Windows 10, fresh install, Still same results.

My HP Envy Laptop would always unexpectedly restart and get super hot whenever I close the lid to put it to sleep, or put it to sleep via the start menu and close the lid. It would get really hot a few minutes after closing the lid, and when I open the lid it would just show the Windows boot spinning circle (but really slowed down), or it would show a blue screen that says that my PC did not shut down properly (with options to restart or go to advanced options). Event viewer shows an unexpected shutdown. This started happening after I did a clean install of Windows 11 on it. I did my 1st clean install a few weeks ago and started experiencing this problem. I then did another clean install yesterday expecting the problem to go away, but it doesn't. Can someone help me with this? Model number: 6TY65PA

My power limit voltages have been changed after a BIOS update and my temps are very high. I disable the turbo boost to make my laptop usable. This method makes my laptop cpu underperform and still give a but higher temps than normal. I want to restore the default voltages of the power limit. How do I reset them? How do I reset BIOS? The laptop is HP Omen 15 dh-0137tx. i7 9750h. Please help.

I recently bought a new laptop (ASUS rog g15) and it only came with 512gb so i decided to add the SSD from my old laptop (an hp pavilion). The SSD I added is an Intel H10 512gb ssd+32gb of Optane storage. Nothing on my new laptop is the detecting the 512gb of normal SSD, only the 32gb of Optane on the SSD. Ive been looking at asus forums and i dont see anything like this, i saw some similar things on the hp and intel forums but they all say to get a specific driver that i cannot find a link to. Is it possible there's something i may need to just change in the bios to get it to work? Edit: if it helps the specs are ryzen 7 4800h, 16gb 3200hz ram and an rtx 3050 ti mobile

Hey guys I'm new to this and wanted to just give my old HP a little bit more speed as it came with 10gb. I currently have a HP h8-1414, 64bit windows 10, M3970AM-HP (Angelica2) motherboard. I have purchased 32gb (4-8gb sticks) of crucial ddr3l-1600 udimm 1.35v cl11 ram (ct102464bd160b). As far as I can tell this ram is correct as per crucial/other sites My computer can see the ram and it shows in system info but will not utilize it, so it is just wasted. This makes it so I have to run the old ram as the computer gives me the 3 loud beeps saying it has an error (i.e. ram) This bios is like all HP and it is locked from any modifications. Also I have tried anything I can find online and youtube. Such as the msconfig steps, etc. Any help is appreciated. (Comouter is just used for normal activities, no gaming. Just wanted quicker response) Well I feel dumb. I think I found out the issue after using cpu-z. I was using ddr3l which manufacturer says I had to use. The ram installed is ddr3 I guess the extra .15v is why it can be seen and not run? Hope this is the fix

Hello, i am working on a project where i am giving an old broken laptop a new life. The fan seems to work with no problem so i assume that this motherboard is still alive. The issue i am experiencing now is that i am not able to get any pictures on the screen connected to the laptop's displayport and pressing Fn + F4 on the keyboard does not help. I suspect that there may be a possibility that the motherboard still sends signals to the internal screen even though it is not physically connected so i am wondering what this port/connector on the motherboard (two first pictures) is called and if it is possible to get an adapter to HDMI for that port? The laptop is originally an old HP ProBook 6555b the other pictures are relevant for the project (and im not sure if it might provide more information to you) other pictures:

Hi, im trying to install a Crucial P2 2280 M.2 nvme SSD into a HP 17-cn0008ca to use as a boot drive. When I installed it, it was not detected in the bios. I found this weird because the existing drive I removed from it was a nvme drive. Does anybody know why my drive is not being detected because I would really like to upgrade from 256GB to 1TB.

My wife has had an HP Pavilion 15-cs3075wm laptop for a year or so now. It has an Intel Core i7 1065G7 CPU and we've had some weird issues since we got it with performance such as stuttering, inconsistent clock speeds, etc. It shipped with Windows 10, but right now it's running Debian Linux, but the issues have existed in both operating systems. She experienced them in Windows before switching, and I even re-installed Windows again to verify that it wasn't something specific to Linux. Basically, the laptop seems to mostly run fine, but it will randomly take spells where it will just randomly start stuttering hard. Even Minecraft Java edition is basically unplayable because it'll be running great, and then just out of the blue it'll literally just freeze for like half a second, and once it starts it never really stops. Even Stardew Valley has stutters, Slime Rancher, etc. I've tried locking the CPU to "performance" mode in both Windows and Linux to try and lock it at its max base clock, thinking that perhaps the cause of the stuttering was the clock speed jumping up and down all the time based on the current load, but that didn't seem to work. I'm just not sure what the problem seems to be. I just ran Prime95 and Unigine Superposition both simultaneously to try and stress all parts of the die, and I did notice that when I first started Prime95 (just a minute or so after stopping a previous run) the CPU temps shot from 50ish up to 95 Celsius for a few moments before the fans actually kicked in, so that might be it. It could be getting crazy hot under load spikes and then thermal throttling until the fans catch up. I also ran a script that would log the current CPU temps and clock speeds once every second while the benchmarks were running, and I've noticed some oddities. There were moments where the clock speeds were at 1.9-2 Ghz while the reported core temps were 80+ Celsius, and then there were moments where the core temps were down in the 60s because the clock speeds dropped to and stayed at or just below 1 Ghz. So in stress test I just ran, in the second immediately prior to throttling, here's the reported temps and clock speeds: Package id 0: +76.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 0: +71.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 1: +76.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 2: +69.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 3: +74.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) cpu MHz : 1955.652 cpu MHz : 1955.761 cpu MHz : 1955.768 cpu MHz : 1955.669 cpu MHz : 1955.652 cpu MHz : 1955.757 cpu MHz : 1955.762 cpu MHz : 1955.665 In the very next entry in the log file, here's the same readings: Package id 0: +76.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 0: +72.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 1: +76.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 2: +69.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 3: +74.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) cpu MHz : 1200.000 cpu MHz : 1200.000 cpu MHz : 1199.999 cpu MHz : 1200.000 cpu MHz : 1200.000 cpu MHz : 1199.999 cpu MHz : 1199.999 cpu MHz : 1199.999 The entry after that it dropped even lower to 1 Ghz even, and it stayed there for 24 seconds before it made it back up to 1.9 Ghz, despite the temperatures immediately dropping to well within acceptable limits. I just don't know why it's throttling so hard. Is it temps? Is it possibly a power budget issue where the motherboard isn't properly spec'd to keep an i7 fed for long periods? I'm just at a loss. For the record, my kids' laptops also have 10th gen Intel chips and this doesn't seem to affect them, though I think they're i3 and i5 variants, and my laptop is a Lenovo with a Ryzen 5 2500U that also doesn't have any issues. Her laptop is the newest one in the house. I've attached the full log file from my sensors output during the stress tests if anybody wants to check it out. templog.txt

After a few months of not knowing what was going to work I bought some aftermarket Corsair Vengence RGB pro 3200Mts and in the F13 Bios an advance tab will appear AFTER you install aftermarket ram giving access to XMP profiles. I remember Linus saying he would like the Omen pre builds if they had XMP profiles . Surprisingly HP came through and gave us what we wanted : )

Hey, guys hear me out I bought a hp pavilion 15 with Intel 1235u, 12gb ram, windows 11 home, crappy 41wh battery (see specs through link) https://support.hp.com/hr-en/document/c08262368 Here goes the STORY: ON a fine evening i decided to download my favourite old game gta San Andreas. I go to <redacted> download it and then install it as per the installation guide (I'm quite aware that is piracy and has the potential to brick windows 11 itself. But idk it's 2 decades old game ) Then it runs fine without restarting and i restarted my laptop and the fun began The windows won't boot and gave me bsod with code : windows_nonbootable partition (or something) I was like $hit and knew this was going to happen with piracy but I'm 18. I created a win 11 boot usb and then install problem solved. It should be easy right? Wrong!! Windows 11 asked me to connect To internet but the in-built WiFi card wouldn't work because of lack of drivers i guess. I don't have usb c/a to rj 45 cable. Rj 45 port has become a rear unicorn with thin and light laptops. I literally craped my pants and the realisation dawned. The track pad too didn't work had to connect external USB mouse. I was like Shit and started to think how to get out of this situation (the laptop was bought at Costco i could have returned it to them, unlucky me i live in India and the laptop was gifted to me by my uncle) After a lot of pondering i remembered win 10 didn't required internet for setup then again realisation struck win 10 doesn't have proper instructions set for Intel hybrid architecture (p and e cores) and i was like let me just get this laptop working first! At installation page same issue track pad doesn't work and i couldn't control the brightness of screen from function keys it was default set To max. I set it up and still the wifi wasn't working i pondered what can be done and remembered usb tethering and connected my phone to laptop and viola the internet works I reached out to hp USA with the same laptop. I explained my situation They said I may have to ship it out to them (it was just a week old). I said I can't cause i Live outside us They guided me through how to "hp cloud recovery" and it took a solid 2hrs to download and install on my usb. The software specifically asked for 32gb usb pendrive (the win 11 doesn't need more than 16gb pendrive it's for all the hp bloatware i guess ) lucky me i had that on hand. And it again took 1 hr to install win 11 (I was afraid wifi wouldn't work at installation page but it did thank God and the track pad too.) and all the bloatware was at least the pc works fine now I had to stay up all night because of this mistake and i have learnt my lesson laptops and prebuilt pcs suck so does win 11 why the hell does it need internet at the time of installation it self? I was like f u Microsoft the whole time Tldr: don't do piracy, always have a working pc in hand and most important of all win 11 and hp bloatware suck Thanks for reading

Hello, I am currently in the market for gaming laptop under 1,10,000 rs in India and stumbled upon https://amzn.eu/d/0LPlgDc , it looks good on spec but for some reason Asus's website has no mention of it other than a driver support page without the laptop's image and doesn't sell Tuf A15 with a R9 5900hx, also the manufacturer shown in Amazon is techfront rather than Asus. The port specification also doesn't match. Can anyone please help me. There is also a second option that I hade in mind https://amzn.eu/d/8mXtdqa. please help me choose between HP Victus and this unknown ASUS A15 laptop

Hi! I am a 13 year old kid who just bought a HP computer from their website. Everything was working just fine and then everything came crashing down. The RX 5500 in the PC would no longer boot when a driver was present. I figured out that the GPU was dead and tried to contact HP. Well there is no fucking way to contact them on their page. It just silently tells you to go fuck yourself while it shows you a "community support". I cannot get in contact with a real living breathing human from HP. So I do the logical thing and submit an exchange order. I am happy that I can return the defective PC and get a new one. Well 2 days later Mr.Asshat decides to reply back and say. Well we can't really do anything about it so just contact support. THEY FUCKING REFUSED TO EXCHANGE A DEFECTIVE PC AFTER 1 MONTH OF USE. At this point I was about to loose my shit. I check the return page and I can't even return it anymore since it has been like 2 days after the 30 day limit. If anyone has any ways to help pls tell me. Thanks, JiminJungKook

I am trying to install windows 10 on this laptop, and when I boot from USB I get the windows logo for about 10 seconds then I get the scrambled screen shown in the picture. I tried all the boot configurations possible. When I use UEFI boot, the laptop does not detect any bootable media, I use legacy, the laptop detects everything, then this happens. This happens with both windows 10 and 11 with GPT and MBR options. Only windows 7 in legacy mode booted fine and installed with no problems. I took the HDD out and attached it to another laptop, I was able to install windows 10 that way, but when I put it back in the HP laptop and tried to turn it on normally, the same issue happened again. I guess it is related to this laptop having something against UEFI boot in general, I don't know what to think anymore. HAALP

I recently picked up an HP Elitebook 8560w. A few days ago I configured the BIOS to my liking and installed Ubuntu 21.10 without issue. Ubuntu 22.04 dropped today so I decided to do a clean install. I remembered from the last time I did this that the USB installer said something about text mode being disabled so I tweak to the BIOS settings in order to enable it for this install. According to the installer it installed correctly and I restarted the system but the laptop now says there's no operating system on the disk. I tried clean installing 21.10 again and had the same issue. I decided to reset the BIOS but when I press the keys to get into the BIOS it would just take me to a Diagnostics menu that everytime I left the computer would restart. Running all of the Diagnostics and then exiting doesn't seem to cause any different behavior. I removed the battery, power cable, and CMOS battery to reset the CMOS and that let me get back into the BIOS after. Because I kept tweaking settings and this kept happening so I had to do it a few times and I've noticed if I just exit the BIOS after a CMOS reset I have the same issue with the infinite Diagnostics page. no combination of BIOS settings seems to allow me to boot to the operating system after either version of Ubuntu is installed to the drive. At this point I'm lost and I've decided to put down the laptop and return to it later but would like to see if anyone has any tips before I try again. My gut says it's got something to do with the TPM but I have little idea how TPM works. Edit: I should probably add that I remade my installation media in the middle of this just in case it was that
