Hello, I am planning my first pc build and am considering 3 motherboards, but not sure which to get. The asrock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4, the Msi b350 tomahawk, or the ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING. any recomendations? or should i choose a different mobo in the under $140 price range? (btw i am planning to do a little overclocking with a ryzen 5 1600, but not too much)

I want to build a complete system within 1800$ for gaming + coding + video editing work. Please help me select components. I want to keep the processor and motherboard in the high end as I will be scaling at least one component every year to keep the system up to the task for a long time. I am thinking of ASUS ROG Maximus IX Code along with Intel i7-7700K for the task. I am running 2 1080p monitors on the system. I have the monitors with me but will be buying peripherals.

I plan to open a site similar to gsmarena but for laptops. It would be of great help if you gave your first impressions on the domain laptopfront.com and please rate the domain name on a scale of 0 to 10 individually for 1) Sounding professional 2) Being catchy/ easy to remember 3) The deja vu feeling that a popular site named laptopfront already exists Any impression, good or bad is greatly appreciated.

Hello friends! As the title says, I am building a new PC and it will be the first one I build myself. I am very shaky about the whole process, but I think after a few months of research, I understand the basics (maybe). I still have very many questions, and I hope you guys here can assist me with them. I suppose since this is my first time on this site, I'll follow the guidelines listed in the sticky post. 1. Budget & Location: I am located in the US, and my budget was preferably under $2000. That kind of went halfway out the window. 2. Aim: The aim of this PC is to be a [subjective] beast for gaming. I also mix & record music using the pro tools software, so the more powerful the better; pro tools loves it some cpu cores. I'm by no means an enthusiast, nor do I plan on overclocking this machine soon. I do, however, want the capability to; in case I gain further knowledge and want to do so in the future. 3. Monitors: I currently have two 27" 1920x1080 monitors @60hz. I want to upgrade my primary monitor for gaming to at least 144hz so I can actually see those sweet, sweet frames that I'll finally be able to see with the 1080. GSync and Freesync are of no consequence to me. 4. Peripherals: I will be purchasing one copy of Windows 10 64-bit (pro, home, education, whatever) 5. Why am I Upgrading? My current PC is a 5 year old pre-built gateway, and it just doesn't cut it any longer. I want to be able to play modern games at their highest settings without chugging, fps lag, or anything else that would come to be due to an old computer struggling. I want to be able to keep this PC for a long while, and actually be able to upgrade it piece by piece when necessary. My build will be (more than likely) as follows: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CmGCNN Edited to https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qKsvpb CPU/ Air Cooler Questions: An air cooler is a must-have, as I do not want a liquid cooler at all. I heard coffee lake runs very hot, especially the 8700k, so I picked one of the top of the line air coolers by noctua and I want to run it in a dual fan config (hence the second fan listed and the low profile RAM).Motherboard: I'm not completely certain on the Gigbyte mobo, I hear mixed things about all mobos. I read that people like Gigabyte for it's quality, and less about its BIOS. Given I don't know anything about BIOS or navigating them, is this a problem for a beginner? Don't even get me started on wiring and plugging in the physical cables; I'm going to have to figure that beast out slowly, while building.Storage: I like the idea of having an M.2 drive given its ridiculous speed and load times for games. I listed a 2TB HDD for mass storage of my music files and the like, leaving my M.2 SSD for the OS, games, and other programs. My uncertainty lies with the M.2 SSD and heat; do I need additional cooling for the M.2? I read things that people say about them, and they go both ways. It pretty much comes down to "get additional cooling if you're giving the M.2 a consistent heavy load" and I'm not sure what constitutes a "heavy load" on an SSD. Games and mixing music won't be SSD-intensive, will they?GPU: The GPU is a massive upgrade for me, and I know this is the one I want (or perhaps even a Ti if you guys think it's a good idea to have the 1080Ti over the 1080). This is also why I'm upgrading my monitor from two 1920x1080 60hz monitors to one 1920x1080 144hz and one 1920x1080 60hz. I can't seem to find a decently priced monitor with higher resolution at 144hz that is NOT curved. GSync and FreeSync are not necessary.Case/Fans: And my case, the Cooler Master Mastercase Pro 5. This is a big deal for me, as I want positive air pressure going on inside for maximum cooling and minimum dust/cat hair/whatever getting inside of it. I need to have an optical drive so having 3 140mm fans on the front is a no-go, and I'm unsure how to get positive air pressure in this case without those 3 fans. Perhaps 2 140mm intake fans, the 140mm exhaust fan and one 120mm exhaust fan up on top? I don't know if the huge noctua air cooler will mess around with the air pressure I'm trying to establish either.Thank all and anyone who reads this wall of text to help a super beginner out. If there are parts that you guys think would be better for me and my build, keep in mind that my budget was $2000, as mentioned above. With the monitor it went overboard, so nothing above what it is now preferably.Thank you so much!

http://www.3dmark.com/spy/2021400My previous PC was a prebuilt that I upgraded over the years with some help but it had always struggled to run modern games at 60fps or even begin to take advantage of my 144hz G-sync monitor so after getting a new job and saving up money for ages I decided to take the dive and attempt to build my own new PC. I consulted these forums for some help in selecting the parts, and here is what I came up with: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/TheStuffDanDoes/saved/yVmwP6 It may have taken me almost 2 days and at least 6 different panic attacks but the build is finally complete! Take a look at this album to see the build progress and some comments: http://imgur.com/gallery/vgPoc The first benchmarks are in too: http://www.3dmark.com/spy/2021400 I am yet to overclock the system because I am being cautious of temperatures due to the small form factor and limited cooling, but at the moment everything seems to be running smoothly. Building that system was probably one of the most stressful experiences of my life. Working with £1400 worth of hardware that I'd saved up for like a year to buy is rather nerve-racking when it's your first time building and everything feels like it's going wrong. It wasn't a pleasant experience building and there's still some kinks that need ironing out, it's definitely not a perfect system. But I'm glad it's working now

1. Budget & Location Hey! Im looking to spend about $2000-$2500 USD with peripherals in the US! 2. Aim Im looking to make this a solo streaming/gaming rig. I want to be able to stream comfortably at 1080p with the capability to stream at possibly 1440p. I plan to play games like CS:GO, Skyrim, Overwatch, and pretty much whatever I have in my Steam Library. 3. Monitors I am looking to use 2 monitors at 1920x1080 resolution. One for basic functions like Spotify and Twitch Chat and the other one exclusively for gameplay. 4. Why are you upgrading? For starters this will be my first large investment in a PC. Im looking to save over summer and build it once some Black Friday deals come out in November. Let me just add the parts list (which I will include below) is a themed White color build. I like it because it'll make me clean it more often. Lastly, I am an Intel and Asus fan boy and always have been. Here's the parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kzV4TH Let me know what you think!

Hi All, first post!!! First I'm going to put you all in context. I'm from Argentina (sorry if a make any tipo or grammar) and the prices here a LOT higher. Also all the prices are in U$D. Right know I have a Gigabyte P35X wich I am going to sell. Here the posible builds: Option 1: Top of the line Intel Core i7 7700K $ 467.50 Corsair Hydro H100i V2 Water Cooling $ 195.00 Memoy DDR4 Corsair Vengeance Rgb 16gb 3000mhz $ 225.00 Mother Asus Rog Strix Z270e Gaming Intel Z270 $ 268.75 Msi Nvidia Gaming X Gtx 1080 8gb $ 843.75 Western Digital 1TB Blue $ 62.50 Case Nzxt S340 Black Matt $ 100.00 PSU Corsair Rm850x 850w $ 287.50 Total aprox. $ 2450.00 Pretty High Option 2: More affordable Intel Core i5 7600K $ 331.25 Corsair Hydro H100i V2 Water Cooling $ 195.00 Memoria DDR4 Corsair Vengeance Lpx 8gb 2400mhz $ 87.50 Mother MSI Z270 Gaming M3 $ 187.50 Asus Nvidia Geforce Gtx 1070 8gb Strix $ 606.25 Western Digital 1tb Blue $ 62.50 Case Nzxt S340 Negro Azul $100.00 PSU Evga GQ Gold 650w $175.00 Total aprox. $ 1745.00 Ok, some details: I know there is no SSD, I already own one. I already own a keyboard and mice, Microsoft Wireless, not gamer but I dont have any more money on the budget ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The CPU cooling is the same since in my country there is only 30 bucks between the H100i v2 and the H80i v2 so I see no point in there. (Maybe I'm wrong) The PSU in option 1 is a bit overkill since for all that build you need 440W aprox. but i wanted something quiet (almost 24/7 PC) and that is the smallest RMx (Zero fan mode) you can buy here. I am going to play on a 32~40" LED TV FullHD <<< I also need to buy that. NO money for a gaming monitor(144Hz, G-Sync, etc.) those monitors here cost 1000 U$D the chepest and can go to $1900. My plan is to play the upcoming AAA games of 2017 and 2018, some examples: Destiny 2, NFS Payback, ANTHEM) at 1920x1080, High settings and if posible Ultra. Where I live (Argentina) you cannot import this stuff, not even by mail. So I am stuck with those HIGH prices ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So, any suggestions? Any change on any option to get more bangs for my bucks? Thanks for all and sorry for the long post!!!

Hi there, Although I've never built a PC from scratch, I'm fairly confident I can, however, I would still like some advice from people who actually have. As the title says I'm going to be using my PC for moderate gaming (I don't care if its too bad) and some design work as I am a student. I have designed a PC here, However, I have not included peripherals as I'm not sure what I can currently get. I'm only looking to spend about $825 - $900 on the PC. Please note that the prices on the website linked are inaccurate and I have found them cheaper on Amazon. (About $882.14) Thank you for any help, If you have any questions, please ask. I hope to here a reply soon! - Alex

This is the first PC I built and the one I'm currently using. I wanted to know how badly I fucked up on the parts and where I can upgrade. P.S. I know I fucked up on the motherboard. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zQd9JV

Hi there. So recently the wife and I have been looking into building our own pc. The "gaming" laptop that we have from 2013 has just about ran it's course and we're looking for a quality solution. So the plan: have enough money saved to spend around 1.2~1.8k on a solid rig that can game (preferably up to 4k), stream videos (Youtube/Twitch quality), and edit videos. The timeframe for buying everything will be in around 3~4 months. Hardware: The main hardware that I've looked at has come down to the following list, I really want everyone's honest opinion on if the build is going overkill or seems about right PCPartPicker part list: CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 1700 3.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($289.88 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-AB350-GAMING 3 ATX AM4 Motherboard ($91.77 @ OutletPC) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($115.88 @ Amazon) Storage: PNY - CS1311 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($86.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Seagate - FireCuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($90.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB G1 Gaming Video Card ($454.98 @ Newegg) Case: be quiet! - Silent Base 800 w/Window (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($129.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($99.77 @ OutletPC) Monitor: Asus - MG279Q 27.0" 2560x1440 144Hz Monitor ($549.99 @ Amazon) Total: $1956.12 Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-07-31 04:14 EDT-0400 I understand that currently the GPU market is absolutely ridiculous and that the monitor really bumps up the price. Also if anyone is doing the math on this it is off due to the optical drive I have included but accidentally deleted. Thanks in advance for your time and patience for at least reading this!

My birthday is coming up soon so I decided to build my own pc (for the first time). Here are the parts I have chosen https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Fyr9d6 I was just wondering are all of these compatible and will I be running into any issues e.g. cpu bottlenecking or anything like that. Thanks.
-
Hey I just bought this prebuild pc and i noticed a loose cable and some extra which i don't know what is for? Yes i'm noob. And also a thingy, I took some pictures for you too see, I'm hoping someone knows what they are and what I should do with them.
-
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the first two gigabyte graphics card(s) was/were.

I need to build the cheapest (Hopefully $300-$400, at most (not including mouse, keyboard, and monitor)) possible PC that can still run Rust on medium (ish) settings and I don't know what parts to buy or where exactly I should buy them to get the best deal. I'd need a keyboard, mouse, and monitor as well

Been watching the channel for about a year now but didn't really think to join the forum until now. hi.

Hey guys! New to the forums and also new to PC building. First, some info about myself: I live in Canada Originally, my budget was $1000 CAD. Seeing that my current build is ~200$ over is fine. However, I am trying to lower its cost, if possible, without giving up in performance. My intended use with my PC is for some casual gaming (LOL, Overwatch, Minecraft). I also do some intermediate-level video editing. Usually, I have Spotify, Discord, Skype, one game, and Chrome tabs open. Here is my parts list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/KY39Z8 Any feedback is welcome! Extras/Explantion: I am going to overclock my CPU I intend to use this PC for a long time (hopefully at least 5 years) without upgrading parts CPU: I chose Ryzen 5 1600 because it's 6 cores, which is apparently good for video editing. It is also more "bang-for-buck" than the 1600x as it also comes with a stock cooler Motherboard: I chose that motherboard because it is the cheapest option that has 4 ram slots and supports overclocking Memory: 16 GBs to be future-proof. 3200 Mhz because I heard RAM speed is important. A friend recommended buying 2400 or 2666 Mhz ram sticks and overclocking to 3200 Mhz. Any insight on this, and is it hard to do? Storage: 1TB HDD + 120GB SSD should do. How are the specific ones I picked? Are they loud? Are there better options for about the same price? Video Card: I heard the 1060 is one of the best budget cards. Also read that the MSI GeForce Gaming X is the best 1060. Is this true? Case: The Cooler Master MasterBox 5 is cheap and I heard it has good cable management. Any better options for around $60 +/- $10 CAD? I'd prefer one with a window. Power Supply: The one I chose is the cheapest 80+ Gold. THANK YOU for taking the time to read through my post and looking at my parts list. I appreciate any feedback and information you provide!

This is it : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8V82zM The parts that i already bought are : The motherboard The CPU The CPU cooler RAM SSD Let me know what do you guys think about my first build and help me by answearing the next important question ( at least they are for me though ) : 1. Help me get the best ,, ATX Mid Tower ,, case for my build ( i care about how easily you can manage all the stuffs inside it and it's airflow ) 2. Do i really have to take care about airflow by the way ? Is that very important to me ? 3. I feel like i should have got and i had the possibilty to get a better RAM / CPU / MOTHERBOARD , like the 7700k and the z270 motherboard , im not expert , i've never seen a comparison between 6700k and 7700k , what do you guys think ? 4. Do you think i should have got a water cooler ? 5. Help me get the source , i have a huge nightmare choosing the one that fits my build ;( ( how many Wats / performance etc. ) 6. I want 2k/over 60 fps on ultra settings from this build , do you think that GPU will handle that ? Or i should pick another one like ( STRIX , AMP XTREME , HYBRID ) , i saw that the EVGA FTW couldnt handle 2k/60fps ultra in watch dogs 2 so i'm a bit worried , maybe i could reach that only with a 7700k which i didnt buy ;(((((( 7. Should i apply thermal paste on first use ? 8. Any other better monitors than the one i picked ? ( 1440p) 9. I want to buy the monitor from Amazon.Com (https://www.amazon.com/PG279Q-2560x1440-G-SYNC-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B017EVR2VM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484676990&sr=8-1&keywords=pg279q) but i live in Romania ( Europe ) , do you guys think it will work here if i buy an adapter ? 10. Do you think the AMD's new processors will work on z170 motherboard ? What about on z270 ? 11. Should i buy Case fans ? In case i missed anything please let me know and please help me with some tips or whatever you got , it would mean a lot to me since its my first ever build I appreciate your patience and thanks in advance

I'm going to build my first PC (upgrading from my laptop). I've already planned which components I want to use and would like to have some feedback, whether they will work together and whether anyone has better suggestions for components. Here is the list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gPGXVY (Updated list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/P7kJpb) More information about the usage and stuff: OS: Linux/Windows (Linux: development/games/browsing/the usual, Windows: only for games that don't run on linux (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻) - no need to buy an os Budget: ~1400€ (EUR) / ~1500$ (USD) Monitors: 2x QHD Monitor (probably Dell U2515H; I will buy them later(not included in the budget); I appreciate suggestions for equivalent/better monitors as well) Peripherals: I've already got a mouse, a keyboard and a monitor. Should be fine (for now).

Hey yall! So at the moment im thinking about building my first pc, and I was thinking that there must be smarter people in here to give me some tips if someone notices that something's off with current shopping list. So Im looking to build a semi-future proof, mid-tier gaming PC that can handle newer games on 1080p. I mostly play CS:GO and Tera, but thats only because my current laptop doesnt run any of the newer games (weeps). My budget is around €1k. All tips and suggestions are more than welcome! -Corsair Carbide Series 100R -Gigabyte GA-Z170-GAMING K3-EU -Intel i5-6500 3,2GHz paired up with Cryorig H7 -EVGA GTX 1060 Gaming ACX 2.0 3GB -Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 CL15 2x4GB @ 2400MHz -Kingston 120GB SSDNow UV400 Stand-alone and Seagate 1TB Barracuda @7200RPM -Corsair CX430M Builder series 80+ Bronze, modular I know there are some flaws like "why do you need a Z170 series mobo with the i5-6500", but to be honest, i couldnt find anything better for the price. Thanks for any kind of advice! EDIT: Looking for information about RAM/PSU/MOBO brands, cases, which ones to avoid, your preferred brands and personal favorites, why (not) to pick something particular

Hey everyone... Here's my first PC build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/NS23/saved/LsRVnQ I was wondering how it could be improved as this is my first ever build! I want to try and keep it under $350 FYI. The purposes for this PC are as follows: 1) Light productivity (i.e. able to run Word smoothly pretty much) 2) Gaming. My main focus is to run CS:GO smoothly as well as being able to play Netplay for Super Smash Bros. Melee (see here for details: https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/34kmea/playing_melee_on_pc_online/ ) Thanks to all in avvance!!!

Hey there, just wanted to post my first mining rig up and see what everyone thinks. its still a work in progress, no cables managed, fans just sitting on their sides in the chassis. good old DIY stuff stuck between actually finding graphics cards and also affording them but this startup rig put together thanks to my old buddy Craig with this list hes got. Mobo and CPU are total overkill for a mining rig, but im also learning linux so it gives me all the headroom i could want to tinker when im doing that with it. will eventually replace with a G4400 most likely at some point once i have 6 gpus total. Current Specs-Cost. All prices in Canadian Ruppies Asus max iv extreme (v1.0) w/2600k @4.4GHZ-320$ GTX 1060 6gb EVGA SSC-300$ -80% power -100 clock +850mem 23.3~ mh/s GTX 1070 Asus Strix OC-500$(thing is a beast) -80% power -100 clock +650mem 30.3~mh/s about twelve 120mm fans that ive collected over the last while. -50$ 750 watt EVGA P2 platinum PSU-110$ on sale long time ago. finally get to use it Old 3u, 21 indeep server chassis that i got for 35 bucks! Prolly the best deal out of anything. 15dollar Potato CPU cooler since all i had was a 212 evo and it was too tall. considering pulling a linus on it with a hack saw. it couldnt perform worth than the potato cooler Running Claymore Etherium Dual miner on Single currency mode (eth only) windows 10 that came with mobo....for now 6Pack Riser cards - 60 bucks still awaiting them since they are coming from china Total cost around 1390 CDN. The market has been very volatile the last couple days. mostly down, but still all over. as of posting its running at 53 - 54 mh/s, netting me around 160 a month after power costs. Thx BC and good old hydro power. im not worry if the market totally tanks, for now its still got a long way to go before its a loss for me. Also like i said im learning linux and just generally like having fun tinkering with computers. i may stick a harddrive in it too for some extra storage off my main rig. When the Riser arrive il be setting them up so the GPUs will be mounted along the front portion of the chassis, with push pull fans (properly) mounted around them. Temps are already sitting at 60C on both GPUs with gpu fans around 30 %. Fun feature on the asus card is it has 2x4pin fan headers to let you control case fans with the GPU fan profile. plugged my fan hub in and boom, gpu is controlling the case fans. super cool feature. any who, here are some pics, let me know what you think, any tips and suggestions appreciated

so this is probally not the first post about some guy wanting to know what to get to build there pc, but no matter how many video's i watch or how many guides i look up i still don't really know what i should get. my budget is in between 1500-2000 euros. I game on a daily basis and i'm heavy on photo/film editing. currently i'm looking at these items: intel core i5-6600K/intel core i7-6800k processor ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO motherboard G.Skill 16GB DDR4-2400 MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G V330-001R EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1 power supply Samsung EVO 850 MZ-75E120B/EU Internal SSD, 6,4 cm (2,5 inch), SATA III (250GB) Seagate BarraCuda 2 TB i'm trying to keep a black/red theme going. so are these items compatible and would this be a good option? thanks in advance

Hello! As a last minute call, im asking for an opinion about my first pc build. Mainly will be used for gaming, streaming (csgo, tera) amateur photoshopping, maybe going to try out what video editing feels like Sure these specs might be a bit of an overkill for my games, but im looking to build a bit more future proof pc than my last purchase (yes i made a mistake and bought a "gaming" laptop by MSi 3 years ago). https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gvgqNN Already got everything else, will possible order the rig tomorrow! (hyped.) Thanks for any opinions and suggestions.
