CPU: R5 3600 RAM: G.Skill 16GB DDR4 3600 mhz Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro Wifi SSDs: 1) Sabrent Rocket 512 GB NVme (boot drive and game storage) 2) Silicon Power A55 1TB SATA SSD (game storage) HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2 TB (overflow storage) GPU: RTX 2060 Super Case: Fractal Design Focus G Power Supply: Corsair CX 2017 650 Watt Non-Modular Bronze Optical Drive: LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer The optical drive is mainly a result of me having DVDs and having had a bad experience with the external optical drive I bought for my laptop. I also don't like having only 512 GB to start with so that's why I went with all the extra storage. If I could redo this, I probably would have made sure to spend the extra on a modular power supply for easier cable management. I know my cable management isn't the best but it's not Verge level so I've got that going for me at least.

Budget (including currency): $1800 Country: USA (California) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: : Various games from new games coming out to old ones already out. (I know battlefield will be a potential game he gets as well as maybe like the Forza horizon, Dirt 5 etc) Other details: So I made a thread and got good feedback when my buddy was willing to spend $1350 on a new rig. His price has since changed to $1800 and id like to know some ideas maybe even just some upgrades of the original ideas I got from the previous thread listed HERE. He's starting from scratch into the PC world so I'm trying to get him setup. He needs everything including mouse and keyboard (Preferably mechanical leave out of build if no suggestion) He would like to have 2 monitors now. I'm looking to get him setup to go decently into the future with this build. As I know AMD has stepped up their game and the Intel fanboy in me wants to build Intel, I know that's not cost effective or even better at this point. Lastly, We live nearby a Fry's electronics. Whatever list may be shared would it potentially be cheaper to walk in there and grab everything or what's the experience on that? Thank you for the help in advance.

Cedri posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi guys, I have been thinking about building my first pc but I don't know the exact parts I want yet. I thought maybe you guys could help me out? Thanks in advance!! PS: I live in the Netherlands and am going for a black and white themed build and my budget is around 1000 euro's. -
Hi guys, I just started build my first PC SPECS: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Asus B450M-Plus Gaming (Ryzen 3000 desktop ready) Gigabyte RX 5700 XT Gaming OC Aorus RGB Memory 16gb kit 3200mhz Corsair TX 650M ADATA XPG 256GB NVME SSD I just finished setting it up (hardware) but my problem is it wont get to POST so I can’t get it to bios. I checked all the cables, removed the gpu and try to start, removed one RAM stick, and still no hope. What do you guys think is the problem here? unfortunately i dont have a friend that has a desktop that could help me. It’s also lockdown in my area so I can’t get a shop to help. WHAT SHOULD I DO :((

Hey guys! I just ordered what will be my first ever custom rig, after months (really) of waiting for better hardware and pricing (also availability because #México), I went for this parts: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-7400 3.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($188.75 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B250M-DS3H Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($73.98 @ Newegg) Memory: Kingston FURY 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($67.79 @ Newegg) Storage: PNY CS1311 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($49.99 @ Jet) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB SC GAMING ACX 2.0 Video Card ($144.99 @ B&H) Case: Cooler Master MasterBox 5 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case ($59.99 @ B&H) Power Supply: EVGA 450W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($31.98 @ Newegg) Total: $617.47 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-02-27 03:59 EST-0500 So, in the beginning I was aiming for the NZXT S340 Elite White case, but, you guessed, it isn't available anywhere in my country and paying for importing and shipping fees is just not convenient for me and my tight budget, so I went for the Coolermaster Masterbox 5, which I got for about $48 dlls. new and shipped, pretty neat. I had to make the choice of more ram and a bigger ssd or a better gfx card, so in the end, I figured ram and ssd costs less and can be upgraded easily later, while I may stay with this gfx card for a while, so I went for the 4GB EVGA 1050 Ti OC card after watching many many reviews (I want to play Overwatch/BF1 mostly and I don't care for Ultra presets, atleast not for now) a 120GB PNY SSD and 8GB of 2666Mhz HyperX ram. I really invested in a somewhat not bottom-line motherboard so I could upgrade the rest of my components for later and got the B250M for about $65. And now the only thing that worries me is if the system will or will not overheat, from my "research" having a case with free space is better for air flow, but also using my logic, the lack of a top grill may impact the temperatures, I just don't know how much. What do you guys recommend I get for cooling? now that I have my system complete, I can start upgrading individual parts and have more time to save up for it.

So I want to know if a 500w power supply is overboard for my build. Should I do a 500 or 430 watt PSU for this? I3-6100 GTX 1050 8Gb Ram

Yo what's up? I'm thinking about going with a new kaby lake processor for my first gaming PC but through further research have found that the b150 and h110 mobos (the only ones I can afford) don't have the required bios update. Does anyone know of a 60-70$ mobo that will support kaby lake out of the box?

Hey guys, Right now I play games on a laptop Haswell i7 with integrated graphics (TF2, Civ 5, Portal 2 mostly) and want to upgrade my gaming experience. I already have a monitor and various other accessories such as a keyboard, mouse and a headset. 1. ~650 USD, Rhode Island 2. Want to play titles like: Witcher 3 Doom Civ 6 Bioshock (All) Skyrim Various newer racing games Max out TF2 (lol) I will also be doing programming for school/projects involving machine learning but it is very elementary (not a big emphasis on this part as my current laptop can handle the stuff I do) 3. None 4. Webcam (any cheap suggestions?, mostly need it for the mic, very occasionally for the camera) Here is the build that I came up with: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HBvxtJ The main worry I have is the cheap motherboard I chose. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and building systems. After a ton of research I'm finally confident enough to have a go at building my first system - and I have managed to create a rough list of components that I will use. Now before I get shot down in flames...I am aware that the parts I have chosen are majoritively out of date. I'm not using this system for gaming, I just want a bespoke, budget, decent performing machine for my first build, with bang for buck being my highest priority. I have already got my CPU (a Xeon 5650) and my mobo (Asus Rampage III Extreme) and I have just ordered my case (an Aerocool Aero 800 Black). I was looking to use an NZXT Kraken X61 for my CPU cooling - however PC Part Picker is giving me a compatibility error for this combination. I am a bit confused as I have seen several reviews for my case stating that there is space in the roof of the case for an AIO radiator. My question really is - does anybody have any experience with this combination or any advice about compatibility with these components? I am also open to any other recommendations or advice regarding my first build - as some parts are still to be determined (HDD, SSD, GPU, PSU) Thanks, Matt

So I'm looking to upgrade to a desktop before I head off to college. Just do some basic gaming right now but I would like to get in a little deeper. I currently have a Toshiba S50a and its served me well with its GT 740m and its i5-4200u but its feeling a little old after about 4 years and I want to Improve my Experience. I live in Southern Ontario in Canada and just wanted to have some experienced feedback on my build. Any and all Feedback is appreciated. This is my parts list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/fKk7Z8. Also any tips on the building process would be appreciated I'm pretty deft with my hands but I've never really done PC work before

I am trying to build a $400 PC, I run some vms and play games like minecraft but no aaa games like crisis. I need such a cheep build without used parts because I am only 9 and have taken apart broken computers countless times am I think i'm ready to build an actual computer that can be used normally . I have no idea what parts to use am am not looking to overclock, needless to say no modding and it has to be easy to build. Even if this is impossible it would be nice to have the most powerful computer possible for basic tasks

I'm considering attempting to build a server to back up data off of our computers (there's 4 with around 1tb of data total right now) and to store movies (this will be rather substantial because I plan on putting my entire movie collection on it) I would like to give access to family members remotely, they're give or take 40 miles away, I'm not entirely sure if that's possible or not part of the reason I'm here. I would also like to be able to be able to watch content off of something like a roku or a smart tv, also not sure if that's possible. I want to initially build it cheaply, and upgrade parts over time to have better performance, the current configuration I'm thinking of is this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sRYssJ. I would also like to know if it would be possible to set up the server to back up the contents of the 2tb drive on to the 4tb drive nightly, the idea between the two would be that all of the media will be stored on the 2tb drive and the backups on the 4tb drive. Whenever these become nearly full the idea would be to replace them with larger drives in a raid array but for now to get going I don't want to spend more than $750 if I don't have to.

I am looking to build my first PC soon, and I was wondering if you guys could take a look at my parts list and make sure that everything checks out. I have already watched YouTube videos, such as the one below, but I still want to be extra cautious as I have saved a long time for this. Here is my potential parts lists, costing about $1000 total. Hello guys, I'm new to this community, so I hope to get along with you all I'm doing my first DIY PC and my budget is around 800 USD, maybe a little more. I live in India so the value changes from time to time but to be absolute, I have 55000 INR to complete this. I already have a SSD, so I didn't add any new (also due to tight budget lol) and I don't really need a DVD/Blu-Ray Reader/Writer currently, so left that out too. I would mostly do gaming and little video editing. Here's the link of my build: https://in.pcpartpicker.com/list/rGhPcc If the site opens with US as location, please change it to India because it will most likely will be a lot cheaper there. I made the whole setup with about 4-5 days of research, so there may be some stupid parts picked by me. I'm not really an expert lol. So guys please share you thoughts and suggestion, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Hello guys, As my first gaming build is starting to "get in shape" (mostly with the help from you guys), I believe that next month I will be able to buy all the parts. But, there is still one component that gets me nervous and I still can't be confident enough to buy: the power source. I recieved some help from some of you guys and recieved tips on the powersource, but my build has changed a bit because I've found some good offers. I've calculated on different websites what power do i need, and the results are: Load Wattage:357 W; Recommended UPS rating:700 VA; Recommended PSU Wattage:407 W. Needles to say I don't quite understand 100% what those numbers represent. It was recomended to me by Aereldor the Seasonic S12II-620 Bronze PSU, but i think with the new build it's not enough. Here's the final build: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($329.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($27.88 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($148.49 @ OutletPC) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($93.99 @ Jet) Storage: ADATA Premier SP550 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($71.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($49.66 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 8GB G1 Gaming Video Card ($399.99 @ B&H) Case: NZXT S340 - Designed by Razer ATX Mid Tower Case ($85.99 @ NCIX US) To this I would like to add that sometime in the future I would like to add an optical drive. The PC will have two monitors, gaming mouse and keyboard, i would oftenly use the USB ports. The pc will be used in the weekdays for ~5h, and in the weekends ~10h. Any help would be apreciated, thanks!

Hi, so I am planning to buy a Raspberry Pi 3 very soon and I am wondering what I could do with it for a easy beginner project. I've looked around online what you can do with it and I don't really see how some things are that practical for my use. Does anyone know any cool and easy project that I would be able to make around the house and actually be able to use it? Or I'm just looking for something easy to do as a beginner which I will actually find a use for. Anything would work for me.

Hey! Hope you all are having a great start to the new year. I have a litthe bit of a problem. I am trying to build my first PC and have gained some basic knowledge from Linus's videos and other tutorials on YouTube. I have only used mac as my main driver for as long as I can remember and have only ever played games on console. This is what I have gathered so far for my new PC build. CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7 GHz Case: NZXT S340 Mid Tower in blue PSU: EVGA 500 W1 Bronze Rated Powe supply unit. Storage: WD Blue 1Tb 7200 RPM hard drive Cooler: Stock Cooler (Only for now, will probably upgrade by next year) GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB GDDR5 Please tell me if all of this stuff is compatible, I'm pretty sure it is but it would be nice for the closure. You may notice I don't have a MoBo or RAM listed. Those are the last 2 parts I need. I need a good recommendation for a motherboard. I don't need any special features or overclocking, I just want something with decent on board sound, something that won't fail or break on me within a year and one that supports my processor. RAM is easy to find and I don't need anything on that front. If you have any tips that will help me out please give me everything you've got! However keep in mind I am on a strict 0$-550$ budget because I'm not even old enough to get a job yet to pay for all of this stuff. This is all coming from housework and snowblowing driveways.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/BACeradsky/saved/KN72FT This is what I've picked out for now. I built my first computer using a barebones kit, so this is my first step into building it from the ground up so to speak. My budget was around $1000 from the start, and I really wanted the 6700k but it just wasn't going to happen if I also wanted the Sapphire version of the RX 480 (which I really do love the look and feel of it). I also wanted a water cooler (even if just an aio), but the 212 performance for the price was perfect for the budget. Honestly, I am nowhere near ready to buy this build, I'm kinda broke actually. But I'm saving up, and will be buying later this year. Of course, by that time, Ryzen will be out and I might have to totally reconsider my CPU/Motherboard which will be kind of fun I think. Anyway, let me know what you guys think. I'll post changes as they come along because I have nothing better to do.
