Budget (including currency): DKK 10.000 (~USD 1.500) Country: Denmark will be used for: heavy photo editing (lightroom, photoshop), light 3D work, Graphic design AND gaming. Monitor 34UC99-W UWQHD (1440p) So a little background: I haven't owned a stationary computer in many years. Only a laptop and recently a monitor. Most gaming done on my PS4. For some time ago i got a new appartement with room for a home office (appartements in Demark are not the biggest), and some money (yay!). it took some time to build the office, but now i'm feeling for building my first computer. i'm definitely not an expert on computers. But i have done a lot of research now to understand "the game". And that led me to LTT and now here. Now i already blown my budget with 290 USD (2000 DKK). But i'm really satisfied with the specs and also the look i'm going for. But i'm still not sure........ Is this a reliable build? Am i spending too much money in one place, compared to the other parts? Should i downgrade to safe some money now, stick to budget just to upgrade later? Or maybe wait a bit, increase the budget and then go for this build? mostly i'm just really looking forward to do this and would be happy to show the results. thank you! https://pcpartpicker.com/user/GYSOT/saved/WbCDcf Need feedback on how this build is price to performance. Also interested in making the build a bit cheeper. And i'm still up to debate of paying a ridiculous money for a 240Hz monitor, as this pc should be able to handle 240fps.

I have recently purchased an Audio Technica AT2020, doing so as an upgrade from my cheap temporary microphone which was a Neewer NW-800. I've been looking at reviews and comparisons with multiple different microphones and came to the conclusion that the AT2020 was the best fit for my price range and was quality. Sadly, I've been facing an ongoing issue that has gotten worse with the new microphone, an issue pertaining to static, the most bothersome sound in all of recording. For the last year or so (Since I built this rig), I'd go about hunting this issue on and off, giving up once I'm tired of browsing the web for an hour or two since nothing seems to be of any help, and I've decided to reach out and ask a diverse community in hopes to help my ongoing issue. The microphone doesn't record loud enough, and to be able to hear myself in recordings, as well have people hear me in general through Discord and Teamspeak, I must use a decidable boost of 10. Here's a sound clip of myself speaking: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tuqzsxrxacbh3oc/erwrew_mixdown.mp3?dl=0 And now here's a clip of only silence, allowing you to hear the static by itself: https://www.dropbox.com/s/aima60yfnyows3q/erwrew_mixdown1.mp3?dl=0 I've looked around and I've heard the issue could be what is considered a ground hum, and I've tested with everything plugged into the power source so all power coming through is consistent, but that didn't work. Another method of trying to find the source of this static/hum was to put the microphone on full and bring it close to various electronics nearby and listen back to see if the static got worse in any way, but that was without results. Some information to help those who wish to try and diagnose this issue: AT2020 XLR Version Plugged into InnoGear 1channel 48V phantom power supply, which is then output XLR to a 3.5mm audio jack Plugged into microphone port on a Soundblaster Z PCIe sound card Thanks in advance for the help, and feel free to inquire about any more information if you'd like to further help the issue!

Hey guys, I recently wrote a script for a techquicky like video with a harder focus on a physics approach to computer hardware, just because I felt like it. I am not sure yet if I am going to make a video out of it (thus there is no actual data in here). I hope you have some things to say If I ever made that video, I'd probably use CGP-Gey like powerpoint animations, moving around the different symbols to represent the "==> " lines and excel charts to present the data Also: would you be interested in a video like this, and or the possible video hinted at in here? The script: Thanks for reading, Chalky

For a little while now I have been planning a first gaming pc. After doing many revisions and learning new things, I feel confident about this build. However as i'm just a noobie and looking for some feedback, I came to these forums to ask if this is a good gaming pc. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QR8Ljc I'm on a budget and don't plan to go above $700. I also have two more questions. Are these parts compatible with each other? Also, will I be safe overclocking my cpu to 3.8 GHz and overclocking my gpu? Any feedback is appreciated! Thank you very much!

Hi,I want to give some feedback to the LTT team on how they display statistics in their videos. And don't get me wrong I love statistics but how you display the statistics are sometimes equally important. And I find it very strange that when they display the performance of a card or a program they swap the positions of the objects. For example: in their latest ryzen overklocking guide video where they compared results between the 1700x, 1700x (over clocked ), 1800x and the Intel i7 7700. When displaying these results they always ordered the performance from better to worse performance. This is a common and a useful practice when there are only one or maybe two graphs you want to show off. but if you show multiple graphs in a short amount of time, then it's much more intuitive to have the processors "locked" in place. First make an logical order (I.e price, performance or chronological) and then stick with it. Then the viewer doesn't have to look at the labels all the time to make sure they are reading the graphs right. The viewer wanna look at the fancy graphs, not in what order the names are in. And sure it's less of a problem when there are just a few things to keep track of but in some of their videos they can have 7 or more different elements. Ironically the i7 statistics was the easiest processor to follow since it was always at the top. Even though the video was about the amd line and the i7 used to put the ryzen in correct perspective. If you want to re order the tested products in every graph then you should at least link each product to each own color so that you can then get a rough idea. Maybe in this example the i7 could be blue, the over clocked processor be gold since it's the focus of the video and have the other two ryzen processors use red and orange. Anyway this is all my opinion and I might be the only one feeling this way but I'd like to give this feedback since I'm super confused whenever they show any type of bar graphs from performance tests in their videos. Have a good one!

Hello, I recently developed a program, currently named 'Windows MP3 Player', inspired by the lack of media players across all platforms, with the ability to restore your playlist whenever you open the program again. It will resume your full playlist; your revert history (songs you changed); your watch folders; plus the song you were listening to at the exact time where you left off (minus 3 seconds). I built the program for myself initially, however it turned out really well so I plan on releasing it to a wider spectrum. However, building it for myself means that I only built whatever I need, and I haven't received any feedback from others in terms of what might be missing. It's been a while since I built this program, so I am going to rebuild it with additional features and improvements. Which is why I'm posting here. Please note that the program version is 2.0.0.0 Alpha, meaning that it is in the Alpha stage of development - it is nowhere near complete, and there are potentially features which do not work or are missing. Also, there are certain known ways to crash the program, for example by playing non-mp3 files, which can be by selecting an 'All Files' filter when adding/replacing files. This is intentional, and it is up to the user not to crash the program. Windows MP3 Player can be downloaded here if you wish, or you can provide feedback simply from the screenshots below. I will also include brief explanations of some features that may not be as straight forward to understand after each screenshot. Screenshots: So there you have it - the whole program. Please inform me of any bugs you find, or any features and any aesthetic improvements you feel should be added.

When I play Overwatch at anything over 30fps, there is an awful, constant, slightly high pitched static feedback through my headphones that doesn't seem to happen with any other games. The static is also audible to other people I'm playing with, using the Blizzard App for chat. Anyone else had this problem? Would love to play it at a higher fps but the noise is really annoying. At first I thought that maybe it was like a coil whine from my graphic card ( EVGA Geforce 1070 FTW) but my friend who knows a bit more about computers said this is most likely not the issue even with my ex overclocking it to 31%. Any advice helpful

Speakers in question: Yamaha HS5's https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-HS5-Powered-Studio-Monitor/dp/B00CFOX420 Connected to my Asus Z270 Prime AR motherboard with: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M0YDAT2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The distortion / feedback in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C61kLqX458A&feature=youtu.be The distortion persist if I plug the monitors into the headphone jack. The distortion remains if I change the AC power outlets the speakers are plugged into. The distortion is almost completely gone when using the same cable plugged into a phone or other media device. The distortion worsens when I move my mouse over images on my desktop / youtube etc. Which leads me to believe it is distortion from a component on the motherboard. I was really hoping not to need to buy a DAC, but I cannot seem to place what is causing the interference. There is no phones or microwaves nearby, no wireless network card on the motherboard. Frustrated because I read the Asus Prime actually has fantastic sound, and I the Yamaha speakers are excellent. If I cannot find a way to remove the interference, these are the products I am considering to get. 1. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004A4PSEU/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=BTC1IZBVIZJC&coliid=I3H0CT7IFPHNZU 2. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EK1OTZC/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=BTC1IZBVIZJC&coliid=I2RMKAQRMGX510 3. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FFIGZF6/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=BTC1IZBVIZJC&coliid=I1IBY5D10KC339 4. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BYIP4IE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=BTC1IZBVIZJC&coliid=I3RENO4VIW5XA9 Lastly, why does this seem to be a problem for high end monitor speakers but is never a problem for really shitty computer speakers?

This includes using a full size keyboard and mouse / mousepad, headphones as well and graphics tablet. Laptop being an ASUS G750JM Overclocked, being a 17'3" laptop (Upgraded as well) Razer Blackwidow Chroma, being 18.72 inches Razer Deathadder 2014 Razer Goliathus when going mobile (ex: going to a friends or traveling) Razer Firefly (I like lights if you can't tell, this is for at home) Shitty old HP 2ndary monitor (when needed) with factory defect HyperX Cloud Headset Wacom Intuos Manga I can fit this all in a relatively small bag, while being, tolerably heavy (I believe the laptop is 10 Lbs), Keyboard in the same baggage as laptop, and personally, I find it very convenient. I can bring a full gaming setup in just a bag, rather than a desktop needing a car or such to travel with (for say LAN). I can unpack and set up in about a a minute, and be set up entirely. Putting it away takes about 2 minutes, just to get everything settled nicely and not just tossed in sideways ect. so I want to know, what you think if you used this setup, and got to know it. All feedback accepted, keep toxicity out. Edit: Can provide images of setup

Hey. After being stuck with a mediocre laptop for years, I'm finally in a position where I can build my first actual desktop PC. I'm familiar with the basics of how computers work, but I'm pretty lost when it comes to things like compatibility, best price / value and what brands or models of components to get. I've asked a few people for their advice and this is what I've come up with so far. I live in Belgium and have a budget of around €1600, but it's quite flexible. The primary purpose would be gaming and while I'm not looking to stream 4k VR at 250fps, I do want something that'll let me play recent games at the highest settings and at high framerates. I would be aiming for 2-3 monitors (one of which for gaming). I will need an OS and already have most of the peripherals. Any feedback would be very welcome. One of my biggest concerns is buying this and then finding out that something wouldn't fit or that it ends up somehow being incompatible, but advice of any sort (cutting the price or changing out parts) is very much needed too. @LinusTech Just wanted to let you know that the "useful tech under $100" is my favorite series that you are doing at the moment. There have been some legitimately useful products there. I was wondering if expanding upon that series, would be something that you and your team would be willing to look into? Such as "useful tech under $200", "useful tech under $50", etc?

My new PC build plan Build What do you think? Is their anything is anything I should change? Either tell me or edit list and send new link (This is pretty much at the top of my budget)

Hello LTT Forum, ill try to keep the introduction short. First of all im from germany and 19 years old so please dont hate me for my horrible english and grammar. I have some expierience in pc building but not at building desk's or even working with wood at all. I try to cluster the topics a little bit in the following: The Idea What i allready have Where i could need some help/advise 1. The Idea So i was thinking about a desk with a build in pc for a long time and the video from linus burned it in my head. Now i want to build my own Desk-PC and have many ideas for that. 1.1 Hard Drives So in generell to keep it short i want to craft a desk where i build in my computer with many differen accessories like HDD hot-swap bays in the front left side with power switches for every single drive. The Idea behind that is because i like to have operating systems seperated that every OS has its own drive. The power switches will have the use that i simply turn the HDD's off when i dont want to use the OS which allows me to keep things seperated but still gives me the possibility to have multiple OS's. The other arguments are that i get asked to backup data from hard drives which is the biggest reason i want to use hot-swap bays. In addition i simply think it looks cool to see where the drives are and be able to shut them down with a simple switch and i want to be able to access evrything i could want to change or plug in evrything to my computer without dismounting the top plate. I would get something like this from Amazon(Germany): Hot-Swap bay Power Switch 1.2 NAS integration via RasperyPi I allready have build a simple NAS with my Pi which wasnt that hard to to (OpenMediaVault, RaspberryPi, patch-cable, some 32GB USB-Sticks and power). This was just a "Proof of conecpt" so the idea is to integrate this as well. I though that for the start 2x 1TB HDD should be enough (1TB actuall storage and 1TB for backup). I want to connect those hard drives via USB to the Pi. Besides that i want to have LAN-Ports on top of the desk that i can connect other devices to the internet when friends are here with their laptop or if i have to update pc's which have a fresh OS for example. In addition to that i want to integrate a simple wireless access point because my router is quiet far away that im kind of on the edge of the wifi range. So the idea is to have a area for the Pi where it is mounted but still to be able to change the SD card for example. Then i want to install a basic switch with enough ports. I want to buy one which got 8 Ports because 3 will be permanently used (pc, pi and wifi access point). But as i menationed earlier the switch and access point should be inside the desk but to still be able to connect other devices my idea was to use extension cables which will be plugged into the switch and the other end will be mounted on top of the desk. I whould get something like this from Amazon(Germany): Switch 8 Ports Patchcable extension Wireless access point 1.3 Additional accessories I want to add a card reader, USB hub, Fan controller and things like that but i guess this is pretty straight forward where i dont need much help. But im sure open and happy for some suggestions what other things i could add besides those i mentioned before. As before those are the first things i would get from Amazon(Germany): Card reader USB Hub USB Extension AUX extension Final words for the idea: Overall the desk should be clean, cable free (as much as possible), silent, good looking, good productivity/gaming and evrything besides bad and awfull. Im kind of scared that it wont be silent because i think with such wide spreaded compontents ill need many Fan's to be sure that evrything has a nice airflow and doesnt gets too hot. I even though about using glas that i can see every component from the top and combine that with good sleeved cable management. Im sure i forgot something for the idea part feel free to ask anything! For now ill move on to the next one. 2. What i allready have Besides the idea i have my computer in a normal Zenimax case. The speccs are the following (I try to add some links as well): Mainboard: X99S SLI PLUS CPU: I7 5820K RAM: 16GB DDR4 GPU: GTX 980 AMP Extreme Edition PSU: G650M CPU water cooler: Thermaltake water 3.0 Besides that i have some HDD's and some SSD's. I would be happy for some good HDD's i think ill need some more for my build. So thats it for my PC. I dont plan to upgrade any components soon but i think that my PSU will be to weak for all those HDD's and the other stuff. For the NAS i allready have a bunch of micro sd cards, a Raspberry Pi 2, power cable, patchcable. I guess the NAS should be straight forward because i allready did that i only have to think about the new storage (I tried id with 32GB USB-Sticks which worked completly fine). 3. Where i could need some help/advice So i guess the wood crafting stuff is up to me where you guys cant help me that much(Or am i wrong?). The things which "scare" me are the cooling, noise(should be as silent as possible) and the power consumption part. And which cable do i can easily extend and which i shouldnt? I planned to extend almost evrything from power cables to USB-cables, aux, sata, patchcable maybe even HDMI for the Pi. Okay so i wrote quiet alot down here now ill just leave for now like it is. I would be happy for any kind of feedback(besides hate) even if its only that you like/dislike the idea but for me its importatnt to know why you like/dislike it and what you would do better. This is not the final idea how it will be and im sure it will take be months and will be hella expensive but thats fine for me mostly i only see how i can get good components and safe on the wrong end. This is meant to be something buitifull where im happy to be at my desk and computer. So feel free to give me some feedback, tipps, advises or anything else which could help me! And for every one he went through all this cancer english: Thank you verry much!
