Hi, I have an old VGA monitor 1280x1024 which im using with a Radeon 7850. The videocard does not have a VGA port, so i am using a VGA to Dvi adapter for the last 5 years. Lately i can see the screen flickering when playing games only. The flickering can be seen in the darker colors. I've read a lot about the same problem in other people but dont know what to do. Help would be appreaciated

I currently own an old 19inch lcd monitor that only has vga and DVI-D as outputs. It served me quite nice with my onboard graphics(uhd 630) connected to the vga. But now I purchased a gtx 1050ti but couldn't afford a new monitor. I bought with it an hdmi to dvi-d cable. I plugged the hdmi input to my gpu and the dvi-d to my monitor and NO SIGNAL! I went to the bios and enabled dual monitor support( IGP+eGPU). I plugged an hdmi to hdmi cable to my tv and it worked perfectly with the gpu, then I tried the hdmi to dvi-d cable with my tv (dvi plugged into gpu) and it still worked perfectly. I then tried plugging in the hdmi directly to my onboard graphics and dvi-d still on the monitor and IT WORKED. But for some reason when I plug the hdmi end of the cable to the gpu (dvi-d plugged into monitor) IT DOESN'T WORK! No signal. Even though it works on the onboard graphics. What am I supposed to do??

My friends recently gave me a second monitor, an HP S2031 which I plan to pair with my Acer V206HQL. Both are 1600x900 resolution but the most advanced connector either offer is DVI-D. Although I would need to purchase a DVI-D cable for the HP display, unfortunately my 3GB 1060 Gaming X only has a single DVI-D input along with 3 DisplayPort & 1 HDMI. So I'm unsure what kind of adapters I should get & how many to run this upcoming dual monitor setup in the best way. 1: Should I buy a single DVI-D to HDMI & DVI-D to DisplayPort adapters? 2: Should I buy 2 DVI-D to DisplayPort adapters? 3: Should I leave 1 monitor on DIV-D & only get an adapter for the other to run on either HDMI or DisplayPort? 4: Lastly, I do need a power cable for the monitor I was given, should any flat-screen monitor cable work regardless of how old? I have 2 from a NEC MultiSync LCD 1545V & Samsung LS19GSESBY/XAA older monitors that barely work.

I currently run two GTX 780 cards with direct DVI to DVI cables from their 4 ports. Three DVI ports make up a Nvidia Surround across 3 monitors running 1080p 120hz. The fourth I switched to the hdmi out to run a tv. I been looking to upgrade to a 1080 or 1080ti in the near future(despite only having pcie2.0), but that would mean running the surround setup over displayport and I don't know what type of adapter or hub I need to get that done and running at the same refreshrates. I looked around on Nvidias forum a bit, but there does not seem to be an easy solution of direct displayport to DVI, is that correct? What sort of adapter/hub should I buy to get the best results?

Hey, i was thinking of buying an 144Hz monitor and i got kinda scared when i discovered that you can't get 144Hz with all outputs. I've been using and DVI-I to DVI-I cable to link my graphics card this one to my monitor and i saw that it could only reach 60Hz on the internet. It also as 2 mini display ports and this is where the questions start. Should i aim at a monitor with DVI-DL, or just DVI since i saw that has long as i use a DVI-I to DVI-DL cable it'll work (do all monitors have DVI-DL or some of them have DVI-I?). Or should i aim at a monitor with display ports? I wantes to use the HDMI for my 2nd monitor and DVI to my main one but maybe i can use the DVI on the 2nd monitor, the display on the main one and the HDMI on my TV. I usually dont have doubts about this stuff but i really never aimed for more than 60Hz and i want to be sure before i buy the monitor. Also any monitor sugestions with 144Hz around the 200$ price with freesync and around 24"?

So I have this monitor Acer R240HY bidx 23.8-Inch IPS HDMI DVI VGA (1920 x 1080) Widescreen Monitor I use it as a single display (I am obviously not a power user) and I have mostly used an HDMI to HDMI cord. For some reason, I was never fully satisfied with the image quality. I knew many of the software related tricks, but one day I experimented with DVI to HDMI, and lo and behold I noticed a significant increase in image clarity. I still dream of the days of 4k, but for 6 dollars this was a surprising and unexpected improvement. I finally feel I am playing games the way 1080p is supposed to look. Both cables are amazonbasics latest standard.

Hey everyone, I've been having a weird problem for about 4 years on and off, persisting through multiple windows installs and versions, graphics cards, and even entire systems. Basically, I have to get the time when I boot my computer and when I boot my monitors just right or else the monitors will go into powersave mode, forcing me to reboot my entire computer (and monitors) and try again. Sometimes it's taken me +10 attempts to get it working. Genuinely at a loss and I've looked around for a solution but I just can't find it. I believe the computer is fine, it doesn't have this problem on other monitors or televisions. I'll list the relevant specs of the builds that this has been a problem on. Monitors Dell U2913WM (primary, currently display port 1.2) Dell P2210 (secondary, currently DVI-D) *NOTE* Problem persistent through different cables and different connection types on both monitors Last Computer i7 4770k Radeon 7970 (later GTX 970) (even later 1080) Windows 7 (later 10) Current Computer Ryzen 7 1700 GTX 1080 Windows 10 I think It's pretty clear that it has something to do with the monitors since they are the only common component across my builds and their variations. However, I can't find any posts on this specific problem I'm having in general, let alone with my specific monitors. I'd call about it but both of these monitors aren't really supported anymore and they still "work" so there's no point. I disabled all the powersaving features I could find on both monitors but that didn't make a difference. Any advice or just acklowedgment that I'm not alone with this problem would be nice.

Hello! I might be in an unfortunate situation here, so some clarification would be appreciated. I have an Elgato HD60 Pro which routes an HDMI from the GPU and outputs it as another HDMI. I've upgraded my PC and so i've purchased a new 144hz monitor. My concerns come in about how I've been reading that HDMI is not capable of doing 144hz? It seems like I will not be able to take advantage of 144hz and be able to use my capture card at the same time, is this accurate? Any solutions you guys could suggest to me to help would be greatly appreciated. The only thing I can think of that may work is to run DVI to my monitor and also run the HDMI output on my GPU to the capture card at the same time so they are just duplicated as if the capture card is the second screen. Thank you for reading and for your help!

Hi Guys, I recently bought LG 22mp68vq. But to my surprise, I can't use this monitor with my GPU's DVI/HDMI ports. Its just shows blank screen(even in post) and the monitors' power LED indicator is static(same as in a case of successful connection). Here is what I did - Removed the GPU, switched to the APU and powered up the monitor (DVI) with igp in my A105800k. -It showed the post screen and I can switch to boot options as well (the same can't be done with connection from GPU) -But there is again black screen after the post, so I switched to safe mode and set the startup option as: "safe mode with base video". This let me boot into windows, and from there I ran DDU to remove all graphic drivers. -I noticed that if I try to switch the screen resolution to 1080P(display setting) the screen goes blank and I had to wait for it to revert to default. After that I installed AMD legacy GPU drivers and it worked fine at 1080P.(DVI port) -The display randomly switches to low resolution but I'm not sure why. But the screen was functional. All this above is done on the integrated graphics. -To check if my GPU is bad or not I connected it with a VGA cable(using DVI to VGA converter on GPU side and connecting the monitor with VGA input). -the screen shows successful connection, and I'm able to use it. Now I plugged in the HDMI cable while the VGA as the primary connection, it showed up on the Nvidia control panel as second monitor. From there I setup custom resolution and turned off the overlaying as instructed on below article Correcting HDMI Colour on Nvidia and AMD GPUs | PC Monitors. https://pcmonitors.info/articles/correcting-hdmi-colour-on-nvidia-and-amd-gpus/ -After all this I switched the input from monitor and IT Worked couple of times. Now it's not working at all and I am currently running the screen via Vga port. It is really frustrating trying to figure if I bought a defective monitor or the connectors are to be blame. My system configuration is: Amd A10-5800k ASUS F2A55-M LK2 PLUS Mobo Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ Seasonic S12II 520 PSU Samsung 750 Evo SSD WD 500GB/1Tb drive & 2TB Seagate drive Asus Strix Gtx 960 2GB GPU Edit:Spelling

ok tldr post It was just another day i was gaming peacefully and suddenly my screen started to flicker bcoz of which i had to shutdown. this was strange but never occurred again so forgot about it. few months later...... i start my pc to find out that it wont turn on i mean after windows loading it wont go ahead just keeps flashing for some moment then boom (not literally) no signal. after few restarts windows goes in troubleshoot mode with error video tdr. After many iterations finally booted in safe mode, browsed on net read that windows has stopped support for amd 2000,3000,4000,5000hd series gpus don't know if that's true. so then had to uninstall amd drivers and replaced it with Microsoft display adapter driver something. so now the display is back on bt resolution is fucked up. searched for solution tried many didnt work. Thought may be the cable is faulty so taught of replacing it and luckily had a extra dvi cable plugged in boom again no signal checked the cable with different gpu and same monitor its working fine. With vga the display works bt not with dvi... also as mentioned earlier may be windows 10 has removed support for amd drivers so installed windows 7 (dual boot) and windows 7 shows even more fucked up display colors distorted and screen appears broken. conclusion: so i am now stucked on windows 10 at low resolution with vga with basic driver can't update those as updating leads to no signal ... specs sapphire ati radeon HD 5450 (i know its ancient bt i played gta 5 on it believe it or not and the bottleneck was 4 gb ram not the gpu) benQ T900hd ps: its my fathers pc now i have bought a new one for myself what should i do....??

So I just got my new monitor (BenQ Zowie XL2411) and wanted to get it on a higher refresh rate. But as soon as I change the refresh rate to 120hz or 144hz my screen starts to flicker with red horizontal lines (video below). I used the standard DVI-D dual link cable that was delivered with my monitor. My PC has an i5-7600k and MSI GeForce GTX 1050 TI Gaming x 4G GPU, which as far as I know should be able to support 120hz and 144hz refresh rates. Currently waiting for a displayport cable to be delivered as I figured it might be the cable that is at fault, but is there anything I can try in the meantime to see if I can fix the problem? Video: 20180424_095425.mp420180424_095425.mp4 P.S srry for the shitty cam quality and turning around of my phone, couldn't get a good video otherwise.

I have recently bought the BenQ XL2720T but it will only let me display it at 120hz even though the max is 144HZ. I am using a DVI dual link and have a radeon 6900 series graphics card. Can anyone help me with getting it to 144HZ, thank you.

I just wanted to have an eyefinity setup with freesync monitors. I already own a freesync monitor (22MP68VQ) and I was planning to get two more of the same. It is a 1080p 75hz freesync IPS monitor and I love it. The GPU I currently have is Sapphire Nitro+ Rx 580 8GB which has 2 HDMI, 1 DVI & 1 DisplayPort. and as far as I know for eyefinity you need to connect at least 1 monitor to DisplayPort but this monitor only has DVI and HDMI inputs and I don't think that DVI supports freesync so my only option is to get a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter for one the three monitors but I wanted to confirm if FreeSync would still work for that monitor and if not will I still have access to the 75hz refresh rate or will it have a 60hz limit.

So I just got a new BenQ 144hz monitor. My laptop has HDMI 2.0 which to my understanding is capable of doing 4k at 60hz. What I want to do is run the 1080p 144hz monitor through HDMI. What I didn't know is that many monitors don't support anything higher than 60hz through HDMI (including the the one I just bought) even though HDMI 2.0 Is perfectly capable of going much higher. The monitor I have does support those frame rates through a DVI dual link connection though. So what I'm wondering is if there is a way to get that higher frame rate using the DVI connection on the monitor with an adapter coming from the HDMI port on my laptop? Is there any software that can make this happen?

Hey everyone, just a quick question, does anyone know of any display adaptors that can do everything. I want an input of every kind and an output of every kind. So I can plug in an old laptop into the vga in and adapt it to dvi, hdmi, or displayport. Or plug in my surface pro's mini display port and adapt it to vga, dvi, hdmi or full size displayport. I only need it to be able to do one screen at a time. The only adaptors i've ever found only take one input and only output to a maximum of 3 connectors.

Hey guys, I just got a new 144hz monitor, and this is my first time playing csgo with 144hz. I love the smoothness, however, it feels like there is input lag when i move my mouse. When I compare my hand movement with the cross hair movement, it looks to be tracking perfectly but when Im just playing there seems to be a delay. Is this something I have to get used to with 144hz? Or should I use dvi instead of dp for the aoc g2460pf. Any input from those who had or have the aoc g2460pf would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All Quick question for my troubleshooting. Can DVI-D cable's degrade in quality and cause artefacts like VGA can (even though its digital) or is it like HDMI and either shows or doesnt show an image? Thanks!

My new computer only have DVI and HDMI plugin to monitor (My old Pc used Dsub). I'm currently using the HDMI plugin as I don't have the DVI plugin. concerns - Would using HDMI plugin from pc to monitor for a long period of time cause some sort of damage to either the pc or the monitor? - Should I go out and buy a DVI cable instead of using the HDMI for long term use?
