Just planning my new build and wanted to ask for some feedback. As for the motivation: my old rig has now around 8 years and has an Intel Q6600 in it... that's probably all I need to say about it ;). What do I need the new rig for: coding, probably some content creation with 3D in Blender as well as videos/streaming, and gaming (in this order). I plan to use the new machine for the next 5 years, so want to make this as future proof as possible. Minor changes like adding another 16-32 GB RAM is planned, but not for example changing the CPU. Note: gaming is not a priority right now, so I do not need a new GPU atm. I probably will add something like a RX580 in the coming months. Budget: 900 €, but mind, that this includes some 250-300 € reserved for a GPU, which I do not want to purchase right now. This leaves around 650 € for the main parts (CPU, MB, RAM, SSD and case) Where buying: Germany - Cyberport, Notebooksbilliger or ComputerUniverse Parts taken from the old rig: 650 GB HDD as storage, 600W PSU, HD5770 GPU (for now) + of course display, keyboard, mouse... CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (~250 €) MB: Asus Prime B350-Plus ATX (~ 100 €) RAM: 16 GB (2x8) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000 CL15 (~ 130 €) Storage: Samsung SSD 960 EVO 250GB M.2 NVMe (~ 130 €) Case: some ATX case (~ 70 €) Total: 680 € - which is around the planned 650 € Three questions that are bothering me somewhat: 1. I do know Ryzen likes faster RAM, but is the jump from 3000MHz to 3200MHz RAM worth the additional €€€? Or is the perf increase negligible (I would assume so...) 2. I was initially thinking about getting the Ryzen 7 1700, but could not justify spending the additional ~100€. Or am I wrong here? Should I cut down on some other parts (RAM, GPU) to get the 1700? 3. Will the MB with B350 be able to utilise the Samsung EVO 960 M.2 to its full potential? I am not sure which M.2 generation is used in the B350 nor whether the M.2 connection actually uses PCIEv2 or v3. Thanks to all who read until this point

Hey Guys, I'm a little bit concerned regarding this B350 Gaming 3 Motherboard and Ryzen 5 1600X CPU that i got. When on idle, it keeps trying to push 1-2 processors to 4.0ghz and back to 3.6 all the time and the voltage keeps going from 1.272 to 1.50+ and down, literally every few seconds. I'm no PC guru, but this kind of instability shouldn't be a thing, right? Its all stock, nothing was Overclocked and i reset the bios settings and made sure that the only thing i have in there modified, is disabled Quiet Run, fans pumped up to max and Memory to being 3200MHZ. Otherwise i haven' touched the voltage or CPU power. Under idle it seems to jump like you see here: http://i.imgur.com/aF2n0m4.png But when its under stress, it doesn't fluctuate at all - its always sitting a the right 3693GHZ for each core and voltage is steadily pulling 1.272~1.284 instead of jumping up to 1.5V Example: http://i.imgur.com/kPDZucS.jpg I don't have Turbo enabled or anything and this PC is literally two days old so everything is brand-new and stock. Also i noticed that the VRM temps are all over the place, they are going around just like the voltage going up and down all the time from 45C to 60C like a roller-coaster. I know that the temps are fine up to 110C around, but are they always this unstable or is something wrong with the system? Is this system busted somehow, or is it supposed to be like this? I was thinking of downloading some APPS to limit the voltage and maybe stabilize the PC so its not going all over the place like that but i'm pretty new to this and i have no idea how to do that yet. With everything said, will i one-day a few weeks into the future wake up to a fried CPU/MB if i leave it like that?

Recently sold my intel rig as I wanted to give Ryzen ago, it was all going well until I booted into windows, where randomly, Windows would completely lock up, requiring a reboot. There was no black screen or BSOD, the computer would just lock up completely. I know ryzen has had a lot of compatibility issues, so far I have updated to the newest BIOS for my motherboard, and I am running the system at completely stock settings, no OC's - nothing changed at all in BIOS. Here are the specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 Mobo: Asrock B350 Pro4 /w 2.60 BIOS (most recent) RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8GB(2x4GB) 2400mhz (stock) 16-16-16 timing - Part #: BLS2K4G4D240FSB GPU: Gigabyte GTX960 G1 4Gb. I'm currently attempting to update to the creators update of windows 10, as I've heard this can solve some issues, however with the computer freezing up every so often I'm finding it difficult to download with my miserable 10 down bandwidth. If anyone has any quick fixes or things I should check while windows is upgrading I'd greatly appreciate it!

So I built my first computer over this weekend, and was having some trouble controlling my RGB lights (We all know how important that is). My motherboard (Asus Prime B350 Plus) has a built in RGB header, I purchased an RGB strip, and Daisy chained that to my CPU fans RGB ring. I turned it on, and everything lit up in a bright red. This would have been great except for the fact that I'm going for a blue theme. I was eventually able to change it using the Asus' AI suite 3, but this left me with another problem. First off, I'm stuck with Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Teal, and White as each color needs to be on at full intensity, I can't control brightness, and every time I boot up the computer the lights are reset back to red, and I have to enter the admin password every time I want to change it back.I'm hoping you fine folks can help me find some way to have more control over my RGB lighting and have it stay in my configured setting between boots without using any extra hardware, or rewiring anything? Thank you so much! Note, I posted this to Tomshardware forums, and didn't receive a response. I thought I'd copy/paste here maybe with better luck. Since posting over there, I also contacted ASUS directly, and they told me they would bump this issue to relatively high priority, so there may be a fix in the days, weeks, or months to come, but in the meantime, I just want my RGB reset back to what it was every time it gets turned on.

Hello I'm searching for a good ATX motherboard for my next build. The CPU will probably be a R5 1600. I started searching for B350 boards but like every board has something I don't like about it. The ceapest choice would be the ASUS Prime B350-Plus for about 80€ shipped since it's on sale at the moment. And I would would already need a fan splitter since this board has only 3 fan connectors (including the one for the CPU fan) and I have 3 case fans. This board is really inexpensive but I know that the R5 1600 with the board I'll buy will be used for a very long time if they don't break (and even if I upgrade to a better CPU, I'll probably reuse this combo). The MSI Gaming B350 Pro Carbon and Krait Gaming have good VRMs as far as I know. I want to OC the CPU but I probably won't push it to its limit. And the price difference between one of those two MSI boards and the ASUS Prime X370-Pro isn't that big and I really like this ASUS board. But it costs about 145€ and so the price difference between this one and their B350-Plus is huge. And even though I really appreciate all the additional features X370 board has, I'm not interested in multi GPU configurations at all and therefore pairing a X370 board with a R5 1600 feels a bit unreasonable. I also checked out the ASRock B350 but the RAM QVL isn't very big compared to ASUS QVL. I would like to hear your opinion on which mainboard I should buy and please leave a reason for your choice.

So im getting my new Ryzen 7 (Ryzen 1700) build in a few days but ive seen some complains as some types or RAM doesnt work on this mobo, however ive seen a youtuber called Bitwit or something like that built his own Ryzen build with this very mobo and this RAM so i dunno if i should buy this RAM and whether or not its gonna work...Also its not on the supported RAM sheet provided by GB on their website but in the video it worked !!Should i buy it or not ? http://www.egprices.com/en/product/corsair-vengeance-led-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr4-dram-2666mhz-c16-v1-2-memory-kit-cmu16gx4m2a2666c16r--el-badr-group http://www.egprices.com/en/product/gigabyte-ga-ab350-gaming-3-socket-am4-motherboard-ram-technology

I'm about to buy parts and build a PC for gaming and editing. I heard good things about Ryzen 5 has enough performance and good budget. My build gonna be Ryzen 5 1600 + B350 AM4 + 1x8GB 2666MHz + RX 480 8GB I don't have much knowledge and experience about PC. Can you tell me how to do first boots and how is it going to work properly? What to do next after boots with BIO? What I have to install and update for first use? (give me tutorial videos if you have) I knew MSI just released 3 new B350 motherboards. Do they better than MSI B350 Tomahawk? I feel like its not safe to buy Tomahawk coz read a lot of reviews about common issues. Don't know which B350 should I buy (any good and bad experiences). Can I OC to 2667MHz using 2666MHz speed RAM?

While stress testing my cpu i noticed that HWiNFO64 showed that system and Auxiliary hit 92c, I've also checked with HWmonitor which shows the same temps. Added a screenshot of HWiNFO64 with temps. I'm wondering if the temps are safe or if there's something wrong with the motherboard. I know system refers to the motherboards sensor, but i haven't found a clear answer what temps are safe. After I finished a 3 hour 15 min stress test I was idling at the desktop and both screens went black, no response from keyboard, reset button or power button. Flipping the switch on the psu did the trick. Could the high temps be the reason for that? System:

Does anyone know if their are any B350 boards with rgb lighting? I'm building for my friend

hey, my friend just built himself a Ryzen 1700 build with a MSI Tomahawk B350, he wants to do Raid0 with his 2 128GB SSD but we can't get it working. In the bios there is a option to select Raid but can't do anything after that it doesn't let you select which type of raid you want of which drive you want to raid. As anyone figure this out yet? looking in the manual didn't help at all and couldn't find anything online.

I am thinking of getting this mobo. Don't know whether it has good oc potential. Is this the most OC capable b350 mobo? Would like to know its position in b350 mobos in terms of overclocking potential and temps. Any user review is a plus.

I am currently waiting for the announced b350 variant of msi's carbon motherboard thinking to myself that I would be saving myself some money going for b350 rather than x370. I really have no future plans for a multi-gpu set up and if I was going to go multi-gpu I would more than likely be doing xfire rather than sli. The caveat however is how long I will be waiting for the b350 to come out. What are you opinions between saving the money vs getting features that I may or may not use? The longest I could possibly wait for this build would be beginning of June.

I would like to know experiences of those who have an R5 1600x with an B350 mobo considering max overclock. Does one have to rely on silicon lottery to get 4.1GHz on 1600x(let's say with Noctua nh-u12s) and does B350 vs x370 make a difference?
