Looking for a group to play some GTA V PC missions and heists, I'm in the GMT +7 Timezone so suitable for anybody in Asia or Australia. Other timezones are welcome of course, just difficult to find people to do this stuff with on a regular basis. Especially some of the challenges which require you to complete all the heists with the same group of people

Hey guys, my brother is looking to upgrade his HP Pavilion Slimline s5380a to last him a year or so until I hand my current system down to him when I eventually upgrade down the line (after which we will likely turn this into a media PC). We were planning on upgrading the Case, PSU and GPU, whilst transferring the other components to the new setup. I’m not too knowledgeable when it comes to older generation products so I’m looking for some advice on what components would be best suited for this upgrade. His current system specs are: MSI H57 MicroATX mobo Intel Core i3 530 @2.93ghz Radeon HD4350 512mb 4GB DDR3 ram (2x2) I did some preliminary research and found that upgrading the PSU, GPU and Case would be cheaper ($200-300) than going out and building a Pentium G328 build from the ground up ($500-600~) due to the prices here in Australia. I've broken up my questions into three categories: 1) He currently uses an HP 900p monitor that came with the PC. Assuming the CPU is running at stock speeds (I have yet to determine whether the board can OC), what would be some good balanced options for 900-1080p gaming? I did some quick googling on the train the other day and think these would be our best options for around $80 used: Radeon 7770 260/260X GTX 560 GTX 570 I would appreciate your input on this. Feel free to provide any alternative options, just keep in mind, these were the cards I found to be the most affordable and available in this performance range (e.g. a GTX 480 is around 2x or greater in price than a 570 on ebay AU…) 2) Based on the GPU options provided, or any of your own, what size PSU should I be looking at? A standalone PSU eg. Corsair CX series (450-600W) would likely cost me around $80-$100~ (new). Alternatively I could potentially grab a Case and PSU combo for a similar amount ranging in wattage from 400-550W and priced from $80-160. I’m not very familiar with the recommended total system wattage for these older components, so I would greatly appreciate your feedback here. 3) There are a couple of case options I was looking at for around $50-80: Zalman ZM-T4 http://www.mwave.com.au/product/zalman-zmt4-minitower-case-ab54278 Termaltake Versa H15 http://www.mwave.com.au/product/thermaltake-versa-h15-minitower-case-with-450w-psu-ab59564 CoolerMaster N200/N300 The Thermaltake comes with a 450W PSU and personally I think it looks better and more fitted to eventually become a media PC. However I’m not sure whether the included PSU is any good, or whether it is sufficient to drive the entire system with any of the GPU options listed. The Zalman does have filtered intakes, quite a few fan mounting options and doesn’t look too bad, so it looks like a fairly decent cheap case. Haven’t really been able to find any reviews of either of these cases so I’ll be winging it in this case (no pun intended). If you know any other MicroATX cases smaller than a mid tower at a decent price I’ll also consider those. Edit: added the CM N200 & N300 to the list, similar features to the Zalman, but look better IMO. Thanks in advance for your help guys.

Im planning a $1500 to $1600 AUD gaming build, and are looking for some help as to component choose. Here's the PC Part Picker link: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/WjG9Bm I have no idea as to what Motherboard to chose. I need a Z97, MATX motherboard, and would really appreciate suggestions. As far as CPU cooling goes, I will be using the stock cooler until more money becomes available, then I will be purchasing a water cooler for harder overlocking, maybe even a custom loop to also cool GPUs (recommendations?). As for the case, I'm currently designing and building a custom scratch chassis out of aluminium, and yes, I know what I'm doing. Trust me. I'm an engineer. Anyways, constructive criticism/feedback would be appreciated. Case pics will be coming as they become available (I want to get this right first time), so stay alert for updates if you trust a novice like me to create a decent chassis. Thanks you for your help, GL HF! </F/>

Have been wanting to upgrade from my struggling ausus gtx 550 for a while now and I finally have the money for a decent graphics card (approx $400) My two main options for my new card are - R9 290 approx $420 R9 280X approx $340 GTX 970 approx $500 GTX 960 approx $300 all prices are basically what is available to me where I am (straya) so i dont need suggestions on where to buy (unless there is some ridiculously cheap vendor somewhere that staticICE doesnt have) In terms of what im using it for I play WoW, Skyrim (w/ Mods) and Rome Total War at 1080p opinions on what i should be getting would be greatly appreciated

Hey all. I was planning to build a Haswell system (i5 4430) (In Australia) and all was well, had a plan and everything. Then came back to see if prices had gone and the parts had vanished. I can hardly find any retailers in Australia selling i5 4430 cpus they have all been replaced by Haswell Refresh ones (i5 4460). Is this because its the new one and they get rid of the old stuff. I really dont wanna buy my parts second hand and so far i cant find retailers selling just normal Haswell CPUS. Any help is appreciated

Also list anything wrong with the build like not enough power connectors, power supply not enough just compatibility with the whole system. Thanks in advance

Hi guys, I'm just after some advice for building a new PC. I have had the same build for the past 5 years, only upgrading hard drives and my graphics cards once and it has served me incredibly well. My current build is: i7 920, 3x2gb 533.3MHz DDR3, ATI Radeon HD 4870 and Acer FX58M. This will be my first build! I'll mostly be using it for gaming, some minor dabbling with photoshop/illustrator and possibly running permutation analysis for scientific research. I live in Australia so unfortunately everything is quite a bit more expensive here, which limits my build a lot. I've based my pricing from to Australian suppliers MWave and PCCasegear. If anyone knows of how I could get things a bit cheaper, advice on that would be great too. Ideally I would much prefer a GeForce GTX 980 but they are around $800. My choice of graphics card is really just based on the best performing graphics card according to http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html that I can afford. My choice of motherboards really isn't based off a lot and I'm obviously undecided still. I picked an 850W PSU because I eventually might upgrade to dual cards and my current PSU is 750W (I also used a calculator for potential upgrades). Depending on the components I'd like either a black and red or a black and white build. I also already have and SSD and a couple of HDDs so I don't need those. So these are the options that I have sort of been thinking of but I'm still completely undecided: GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4GB Video Card $529 CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K Quad Core LGA 1150 3.5GHz Unlocked CPU Processor $340 PSU: Corsair CX-850 Modular $160 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 LGA 1150 Motherboards ($275) OR Asus Z97-Pro Gamer LGA 1150 Motherboard ($230) OR MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition LGA 1150 ATX Motherboard ($190) RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 1866MHz Memory ($200) Case: NZXT H440 ($160) or NZXT S340 ($100) CPU Cooler: nothing in particular ~$100 Total: $1609 - $1764 depending on choice of case and motherboard I'd love to support triple monitors eventually, I currently have two. I wouldn't frequently use it for gaming but more so for running many applications simultaneously for research. Some advice on some decent monitors or one good and two lesser monitors at a total of $600 would also be appreciated. Sorry for giving so much info and thanks in advance

This is my Gaming PC build from the Australian Website pccasegear.com https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lists&wlcId=409064&action=wish_lists, My budget is $1500-2000 AUD, Can spend more on a mouse needs to be Ambidextrous and a Keyboard. Open to any and all suggestions as I don't know much about PC's and would be greatly appreciated. I most likely will not do any overclocking. I plan to play games on Steam some casual e.g The forest and Stranded deep. And other games like Dying light possibly battlefield. And I want to play Custom Zombies. I will be playing on a 1080p ASUS monitor. Should I get DDR4 or no point because it's pretty expensive compared to DDR3? I'm happy with any case that'll fit everything fine. Might move to a double or triple monitor setup in the future most likely. I think that's enough info. If you guys could help that would be awesome cheers and any tips for the future would be great. so my problem is that I am a student (high school grade 12) and I have a triple monitor setup for my pc which means my desk space is very limited and I need a nice corner desk so that I have somewhere to put my books and do subjects like math or to use my laptop. As a result I need a large desk and it kindof has to be black and doesn't cost a fortune, now my main problem comes with living in a town called Gladstone which hasn't got anything worth considering I also will for a short time be able to get one from Carins since one of my parrents is up there atm. any help would be appreciated I know that most users here will be american but i thought it was worth a shot an example of the ideal desk is both of these together http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/categories/departments/workspaces/10712/ http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/S29932176/#/S79932174 and below is a picture of my current space and my setup to give you an idea of what I'm working with

Hey, I am looking to build a new computer. I am fairly new to this but have done a bit of research and want a few more opinions. I live in Australia and the site I want to buy from is MSY due to it having much lower shipping costs to my area then PCCG. My budget is around $1400 which includes a good quality monitor and semi-decent keyboard. I'm trying to find a few ways to cut a few dollars of my build so far. My main use will be gaming and i plan to try and overclock the cpu and gpu. Cpu: Intel i5 4690k $314 cpu cooler: Cooler master 612p $49 Gpu: Sapphire r9 280 $259 Motherboard: AsRock z97 pro 4 $149 Memory: Kingston HyperX fury 2x4GB $94 PSU: Antec HCG 620w $105 HDD: WD blue 1TB $69 Case: Corsair 230T $99 Monitor: AOC IPS 23" I2367FH $218 Keyboard: Gigabyte GK Force K3 $22 Total: $1378 before shipping Also I need a copy of Windows for as cheap as possible. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi all. I'm a complete noob to this so forgive me My friend asked me to build a pc for $1200 Australian Dollars and so far I've come up with this (http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/twDvt6) He wants his PC to be powerful enough to play CS:Go, Dota 2, etc. I have some questions though, no.1: is there going to be enough room for the graphics card? no.2: will the Noctua NH-L9i will be enough to cool down the CPU? or is there a better cooling out there.(he doesn't want to use Liquid Cooling) thanks

Hey guys, I'm planning on building a gaming desktop. It's time to retire my ASUS G73Jw. The plan is to get a decent desktop that can handle current and future games without breaking much of a sweat. I'm not really keen on embarking on the 4k boat (at least for now). I'd rather go for a high refresh rate monitor than a 4k one. In the future I'll probably add another GPU, some extra RAM and a 4k monitor. My budget is $5000 AUD and I'm basically starting from nothing. This is what I came up with. Did I forget anything? Feel free to comment/propose changes. I'll take all the help I can get. I would also like some advise about where to buy. I'm living in Brisbane QLD and I don't mind driving for a couple of hours. So if anyone knows a hidden gem where I can buy these components at a better price than umart please let me know. I'm not really keen on getting stuff by mail... Thanks in advanced, cheers.

Hey guys long time lurker first time poster. Long story short im starting uni soon and i need a laptop, I have very little experience and every portable devise i have purchased has let me down in one way or another so i though i could get some help here. I need to know in advance how much i need to save for it but the key thing is price. So that rules out anything over a $1000 au. Main things i am looking for are "in order of importance": VERY good battery life. (My time tables are from like 7-7 so it needs to last without turning down brightness, yes i can charge but if i dont need to i dont want to) CPU and RAM that wont make me want to kill myself every time i do anything. Key bored that wont make me want to kill myself every time i do anything. Less important: Slim form factor (actually is kinda important but i can live without) Camera and Mic (Never have credit, skype/facebook is my mobile) If it has an external power pack (which most do) one that isnt massive, or heavy Things i dont need at all: Retina Display (although it would be awesome) WiFi built in (as long as it doesnt add to the price its fine) Large storage SSD's USB3 Dedicated GPU (the integrated is gonna need to be enough to do some VERY light 3D rendering though) Cooling (I dont want it to over heat though) OS (couldnt give a f*ck but my desktop is windows and i dont have any transfer cables or usbs or what ever the hell mac uses) Optical drives (who needs em') Side note why are retailers so testy when you ask what model of i7 is in there laptops or battery life? From what ive seen im looking for basically a mac, unfortunately as i stated i dont have much experience with laptops especially macs and they come with a price tag that im not wanting to pay for the hardware i get. Unless there is some model thats cheap or i should lookout for second hand. Again battery life is pretty important. Thanks in advance guys

This seems like something that could be very useful for frequent international flyers, with the ability to save information so that the form doesnt have to be filled out every time. This trial is currently only for departures and still requires a customs office to look through the printed version of the card. 200,000 Australians can’t be wrong: Netflix is something that probably should come to Australia in an official capacity. Which is a good thing, because based on all the information we have so far, we’re very close to an official launch of Netflix, in the land Down Under. For those out of the loop, Netflix is a DVD rental service that, similar to the existing Aussie service Quickflix, sends DVDs out to people via the post for them to rent, enjoy and then send back. The real game-changer that has caught the attention of hundreds and thousands of Australians, however, is the company’s Netflix Instant product, which allows users to use any device, any browser and any machine connected to the internet to stream an almost infinite library of content for the low, low price of $US8 per month. Australia has been in a wasteland for cheap and liberated access to content in the last five years, with free to air broadcasters and pay TV giant, Foxtel, maintaining a stranglehold over new shows and movies, running them to an antiquated schedule that doesn’t suit the right here, right now habits of modern viewers. These networks have gradually attempted to offer more relevant products to modern viewers crying out for cheap streaming services with the launch of products like Foxtel Play and a myriad of free-to-air catch-up services. For this reason, Australians are flocking to sign up for VPN services in a bid to access Netflix Instant. VPN tunnels make Netflix think that the computer is actually accessing the content from the US, lifting the geoblock wall and making the content available. It’s something that has drawn the ire of the Australian television and streaming industries, with local executives slamming the practice as “piracy”, simply because the content being accessed by Australians via Netflix isn’t licensed to be viewed in the local market. But while the local industry throws stones, Netflix has been quietly tooling away in Australia, working on a local launch. Gizmodo Australia understands that the streaming giant currently operates out of an office in the Sydney CBD, working quietly to establish local connections with agencies, marketers and other support structures. mUmbrella revealed today that it believes Netflix’s Australian operation has recently signed itself up with new creative and social marketing agencies, which indicates that the launch of the Instant product in Australia is just around the corner. The report indicates that a multi-million dollar marketing blitz will flood the Australian market in the coming months. Like it or not, Australian TV industry: Netflix is coming. SoundCloud has made it official, with a real record company. It’s really growing up. Every time a track from a Warner artist is played on SoundCloud here on out, SoundCloud will pay Warnera little bit of money. SoundCloud is a great service, but nothing gold can stay that way, and we knew it would have to figure out a way to keep the lights on — aside from venture funding — at some point. The deal with Warner was contingent on another coming-of-age type development from SoundCloud: its impending launch of a premium service, which offers different paid tiers for different amounts of listening and uploading. The licensing agreement, of course, also applies to the premium plans. So, yes, it’s true. SoundCloud, as it exists in its current form, is changing. It still remains a place where you can discover great and weird underground artists. Let’s just hope that big kid business deals doesn’t mean SoundCloud gets too far afield from the SoundCloud we love. So I'll be moving to Australia soon for college and I found this prebuilt website they have which I found interesting. Now I know very little about computer building and I know the most efficient way is to just build one yourself but I'm curious how this prebuilt website holds up? Note: The dollars in the website are Australian dollars and not US dollars. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1411&zenid=01ad2c78e81a5b01fcca3721b9ba04b6 I was thinking about buying this PC from the website: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1411&products_id=29968&zenid=01ad2c78e81a5b01fcca3721b9ba04b6 What do you guys think? Is it a complete rip off?

Hello enthusiasts and part pickers, i am new to this community. I will really appreciate any of you's help to help me build or get built a gaming PC. The main question comes to me when i am trying to buy ALMOST anything on internet that they fucking don't ship products down under at this part of the world most of the time.SO that is a big one for me that's why anyone who is in australia and on this forum could help me build a new pc particularly i live in perth if anyone wants to be exact on price or anything. and i have tried the local but they are just so fucking expensive. don't know if it's worth it and as i have read the review of some of them i have found out that most of them don't have a good customer support and ad you might know that one is essential. These are some of them if anyone is interested. https://www.ple.com.au/ http://www.supertechcomputers.com.au/products.htm http://www.pugetsystems.com/contact.php http://www.netplus.com.au/ http://www.harveynorman.com.au/games-gaming-consoles/game-consoles/gaming-pcs I am a regular audience of ncix and Linus Tech Tips. so i have some ideas ok a tad bit more idea then general on pc, I am not near to enthusiast but this might give you a general idea. processors, coolers you know the usual. i haven't build a pc. i have changed tam's and graphics cards and i have gained confidence of building my own pc after trying to find a pre built online and the cost difference is just day and night. I think the process might be easy. The price To the main stuff. 1. Budget & Location Budget- $1500 AUD now i am willing to go to $1500 USD which is around $1800 AUD but i don't want to compromise performance. (hardly will go higher) The location is australia in case you haven't the read the stuff above. 2. Aim My aim is mainly Gaming. Farcry 4, crysis 3, Evil with in. (the new ones.) 3. Monitors I will need one. around 22" or kind or a bit more. 1440p or 1080p lower cost will be better. and if g sync or amd v sync(this might be hard to find but still.) 4. Peripherals SO here i might need your help should i just but a keyboard from local store around $20 and a wireless mouse. or should i invest a bit more like 50 and get something different or more premium Please advise me. 5. Why are you upgrading? i was living in laptop hell and trying to game there i only had 64MB of dedicated video memory. 6. Case Any can be good as long as the airflow is right i don't want anything fancy. at all it doesn't had to look pretty it has to work pretty. BTW i am not going to hold down on overclocking i will get the most juice out of that baby. but i am just afraid of doing watercooling. You guys think it might be easy because paying for a cooler and getting $100 plus performance on GPU and or CPU is a no brainier for me. Now i can go with AMD no problem some say it's not good. i know they are bot are just different. In shot i am not biased. I don't want ddr4 or any new processors. something cost efficient and performs great. I am not buying instantly i can even wait until January or February. Because i have seen some crazy price increase in this season i will post some screen shots from PC part maker have a look. Or i can just buy now cause i haven't really looked for prices whole year. SO thanks in advance guys. i really hope you guys will help me even if you are not from AUS. Tell me if you need any more info.other than my credit card numbers. Cheers.
