I have an 8600K running at 4.4GHz at a stable 1.25V, and I was wondering if it's safe to possibly lower the voltage down to 1.24 or even 1.235. Not that 1.25V puts me in worry, it's a curiousity question more than anything. Additionally, when is it possible to use voltages such as 1.24 and 1.235? I would assume stock frequencies but I didn't want to fry my motherboard trying such voltages.

Hi So i was planning to do an undervolt of my CPU (8600K), but when i checked the voltage with 'Open Harware Monitor' before undervolting i saw 0.400V. Is that possible knowing that the load on the CPU about 10% avg? Thanks in advance! Hi Guys, As the title says, I’m a noob that wants to overclock my processor, my system as follows; Mobo: MSI Z370m gaming pro AC CPU: Intel i5 8600k (not delided) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 PSU: Cooler Master v750 RAM: 2x8GB DDR4 2133mhz (OC to 2666mhz) GPU: Zotac 1070 mini PC Case: Tecware Nexus M (matx) Fan Config: 2x front intake (push) via Aio cooler Rad (I used Noctua nf-f12 ippc 3000 rpm fans) Additional 1x front intake (no rad, Noctua nf-f12) 2x Exhaust at top (stock fans of H100i v2) 1x Rear exhaust (Noctua nf-f12) May Question is, based on Your experience and expertise and given my PC setup, is it possible to overclock my processor to 5ghz? Average Room temp is kindof warm at 27 degrees celcius. I see a lot of Youtube videos i5 8600k getting 5ghz without breaking a sweat. Any tips? Which multiplier and voltage should I start? What increment should I adjust up or down for voltage and multiplier? what OC load temps should I consider "ok" ? Will my PC burn if i try to start and jump at 5ghz first? How will i know if the OC speed is stable? Please help. Thanks in advanced Cheers!

Hello from Australia, I am brand spanking new to the LTT community. I have been watching every video I can on YouTube and have been having a great time doing so. After seeing how much voltage and heat people need just to get to 5Ghz on their 8600K's I feel I have truly won the silicon lottery. I have been creeping up to 5Ghz the last couple of days expecting my temps to skyrocket at some point. To my surprise this has not happened yet. I have just done a quick 1 hour stress test in RealBench to demonstrate the clock and temps. I know its only 1 hour, but with these temps and voltage who really cares, there is so much room to add more voltage if need be. Ambient temp is 20 degrees. At 1 hour my temps did not pass 62 degrees. I was browsing and typing this while the stress test was running so to me that is pretty stable, but only time will tell. I can't take any credit, this one was all Intel. I feel very lucky. Settings: Vcore: 1.21v adaptive Clock: 5.0Ghz Intel Enhanced Turbo: Off Ratio mode: Variable EIST: On C-State: Auto Cache voltage: Auto Cache: 4.1Ghz Idle temp: 29 Degrees Max temp: 62 Degrees PC Specs: Motherboard: MSI Z-370 Sli Plus Ram: Corsair 16gb @ 2666mhz XMP Video Card: Galax GTX 1080 CPU: 8600K Cooler: H100i 4 years old Case: Cougar Panzer-G Thanks for reading, Johnson.

Hey all, currently I have an: i5 6600k oc to 4.4ghz at 1.3v ( temps are under 49C when 100% load) Asus z170m-plus mobo 16gb 2400mhz Ram GTX 1080 NZXT Kraken x61 I upgraded from a 1070 to a 1080 but didn't really see too much of a difference in fps. I play at 144hz 1080p (planning on 1440p later in future) but noticed my cpu would be 95-100% load at certain games and sometimes fps can drop minimally to 80fps. This didn't happen too often when I had a 1070 and I used to game at 1440p 120hz! (maybe because of W10 1803 build and I'm using 391 Nvidia drivers). I feel like it's time for me to upgrade cpu/mobo so I can get full usage of my 1080 and would like a stable 144hz. Where I'm from, an i5-8600k is quite reasonably priced and I only game (no streaming, occasional program and office work here and there) is good enough for my needs but I would like to overclock it to at least 4.5ghz under 1.4v. At some point in the future I would also like to run at 4.7ghz to max 5ghz stable with the 8600k. What motherboard would be suitable for this without spending too much extra money on features I know I don't need? So far I was thinking of Asus prime z370-p or ASRock Z370M Pro4. The Asus prime z370-a is an extra $90nzd and seems ideal but I would like to know first if the other lower end z370 can achieve good enough overclock.

A few months ago, I decided to finally upgrade from my FX 8320 to an i5 8600k. Judging from everything that I had read online, most, if not all, 8600k processors should be able to overclock to somewhere near 5GHz. I even found these statistics here from siliconlottery for the 8700k, but didn't think the 8600k would be much different. The parts arrived, and the system was assembled. I paired the 8600k with an MSI Z370-A Pro, a 1070, and a Noctua NH-D15 for cooling. I have to say, the 8600k was a massive upgrade from my old system, but as a pc guy, I wanted to do some overclocking. Relatively speaking, i'm an overclocking noob. All I dare to mess with is the core and memory voltage. I started out at 1.28 volts and 4.6GHz with a -2 avx offset, and got a black screen. I set llc to mode 4, then 3, then 2, still nothing. After setting the voltage to 1.35, I was able to get to 4.6GHz, but no more. I've tried voltages all the way up to 1.45, but nothing could make the system stable. During the tests the temps never exceeded 75c after delidding. I'm not complaining, it's still a great processor, and makes short work of anything I need to compile. But I have to wonder, did I just get really unlucky with this chip, or am I missing something? Maybe the motherboard is the cause of my problems? Everyone else seems to be hitting 5GHz effortlessly.

I'm building a pc with a 1060 3gb card and I can't decide if i should get a 8600k or a 8400. I want to be able to overclock my cpu, but not if my card bottle necks the 8600k too much, and also is the extra 60 dollars worth it for the 8600k in my build. thanks

The question is simple yet a tough one. Which one should I buy? An 8600k or an 8700? Do elaborate if you can. Thank you.

Hi Guys, I just recently upgraded my PC, but im still in the process of learning things so I'm here to get enlightenment. Before i have a cheap mobo which previously died and its paired with an i7 6700 (non K). then i sold the 6700 and bought an MSI z370m + i5 8600k and its really awesome. I havent OC'ed it yet as i still don't feel the need to. My query is this, before with 6700, my cpu usage on games are just like 30-40%, but with the i5 8600k, its like 50-60%, sometimes briefly fluctuates to 90%. Please explain to me what's happening. Is it the hyper threading thing? Because i'm pretty sure all articles I read says its not utilized in games. Also, i5 8600k got 2 more physical cores than i7 6700, so i'm confused as how is it possible..is higher cpu usage a good thing or bad? Another theory i was thinking is that the 6700 is bottle necking the gpu, which im not sure if possible. my GPU is just a lowly 1070 mini (zotac). I only game at 1080p (with gsync). Thanks in advanced for those who will reply, really appreciate the additional knowledge You will bestow upon me. Cheers!

Hello, fellow computer users! I was wondering if I could get some help with my PC after I made a few upgrades. So let me give you the details of what occurred. I had an Intel® Core™ i7-4820K with a Gigabyte GTX 1070 graphics card and 16 GB of DDR3 RAM. For a long time I wanted to play games and stream them with no problems. Generally speaking, my old build streamed quite well with no issues but I wanted some improvement due to new games coming out, multitasking, etc. At first, I got a Ryzen 5 1600 CPU with a different motherboard and 8GB of DDR4 2400 (I could only get 8gb because I was on a tight budget). I generally am more of an Intel fan but decided to cut some corners due to financial constraints. A few days after, I received some money and decided to upgrade how I originally wanted and returned the Ryzen cpu, the RAM, and the Motherboard and switched to Intel® Core™ i5-8600K, 8GB DDR4 3200 RAM, and an intel motherboard (MSI to be exact). I thought "wow, now I can really stream games and play with no issues and do way more than what I wanted"... Nope! When I tried setting up my stream on OBS and playing games, the stream would run fine but the game itself wouldn't. The game said I got around 150-160 fps but that was not the case. There's HUGE amounts of stutter and frame skips I thought I was running the game on a 2001 Windows XP rig. I'm so confused as to why this happens. When I turn off the stream and stop streaming completely then the game runs fairly well (I get some stutter at times though which never happened on my old rig). So why do my games run sub-optimal without streaming and run even WORSE when I stream? Was it because I didn't do a clean reinstall of windows when I switched hardware? I was told you didn't have to with Windows 10. Is it because I have 8GB of RAM instead of 16GB? Maybe something is bottle-necking? Or maybe my GPU is not optimized/damaged? I have all the latest drivers. I just don't know anymore ._, , It's actually making me sad. Please help! Just for clarification, These are the specs of my current rig: Specs: Intel® Core™ i5-8600K Corsair H60 Liquid Cooler Gigabyte GTX 1070 8GB RAM 3200 MSI Z370 GAMING PLUS LGA 1151 Motherboard 650w Corsair Bronze Power Supply 500GB SSD + 1TB HDD I could sure use the help! It would be greatly appreciated guys! Thanks for reading!

Hi! I've been thinking of upgrading my current build which is an FX8350 with ASUS M5 A97 R2.0 motherboard, but I'm having a hard time deciding between the 8600K with ASUS PRIME Z370-A and 1600X with MSI B350 TOMAHAWK. The Intel with mobo costs about a $100 more but is it worth it? For some games the framerate is about the same while on others there is about a 30fps difference in favor of the 8600K from what I've seen from different benchmarks. Will the gap get closer later down the line or will there be an even bigger difference in the future? I want to play most games at 1080p at max settings as close as possible to 144fps and also VR with the HTC Vive. Right now I have a r9 290x as a GPU but I'm going to upgrade that to a GTX 1080. I play everything from MMOs to FPS and everything in-between so I want to have good performance on a broad range of games. What would you pick in my case and why?

Im upgrading my pc soon, and i thought i was 100% sure on the parts i wanted. But i've read alot of Asus reviews, and (In my country) they are 2 stars on trustpilot... Does anyone have any experience with their customer service? Or does anyone have a recommendation for another motherboard? Thanks!

Hi guys, I have just tested my new build. It is a Core i5 8600K with a Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon and a NZXT Kraken X62 AIO Cooler. The Core i5 8600K is overclocked at 5.0 ghz with a vcore of 1.35 v. I added some screenshots of my results with Cinebench and AIDA 64 Extreme(10 min test). Is this system overclocked at 5.0 ghz stable for the long run? I'm worried that the temperatures are a bit on the high side while I was running AIDA 64. Could someone give me some more advice? Thanks a lot

Hi, i was trying to oc my 8600k, and get it to the 5.0ghz profile, but iddle i got it in 50ºc and running cinebench goes to around 95ºc i got a aio watercooling 1 fan 120mm (i know, not the best) should i lower the oc? or thats temps are ok?

Sup guys So I have a 8600k, and I'm having issues getting a stable overclock CPU just won't go any higher 4.7GHz, needing 1.35v on cpu to get Prime95 running fine, with high temps. I tried getting vcore up to 1.36v, but it just gets 100ºc at blend test and it fails. Well I'm not an expert on OC and the new bios voltage features these days (used to overclock on lga775, old times), so I attached a few images from BIOS and the Prime95 test. Any tips on what should I change to go a little higher?

Hello, my temperature while being idle is always above 50° celsius according to HWMonitor. This happens even when I am not overclocking my system. I already double checked, that my amount of thermal paste is just right and that the cpu cooler is properly in place. My windows install is also fresh and I got all the proper drivers.

Hey There! A few days ago I bought a i7-7700k for a great price. I thought I had done my research by looking at loads of benchmarks, reviews, etc. but what I didn't look out for were comparisions with the current gen i5-8600k. I know, I know, you are all face palming right now, thinking about how dumb I was to not get the 8600k. Well, now I am aswell. So, long story short: I have the option to return the 7700k but I will lose 10% of the price I paid for it. Now the question is if I should return the i7 and buy the i5 even if it costs 10$ more than what I will receive as a refund, or not. If you don't understand what I mean by that (I understand why you wouldn't) I will try to visualize what I mean. Refund for the i7: $248 Price of the i5: $259 Advice will be appreciated very much. Felix
