Hi, I'm trying to run a GTX 1080 as my primary gpu for gaming and other productivity workloads on my main display and separately use my RX 480 to drive another display for websurfing/videos in order to offload some of the computational burden from the 1080. I haven't found an immediately obvious way of doing this with Windows 10. Example: So, I'm trying to run R6S on my main display and watch YouTube on my secondary. Both displays are plugged into their own corresponding gpus. R6S starts having seizures and texture aren't being loaded in properly, etc... After checking Task Manager I can see that my GTX 1080 is rendering the YouTube video AND R6S!! Edit: I'd like to have my GTX 1080 work on the game and my RX 480 work on the video independently from one another. HALP MEH PLZ!!!!

Hey there! I've had a MSI 480 4gb for a long time, but it had a problem and the warranty is giving me my money back so I'm looking at options on the price range of the gtx 1060 and rx 580(which have similar price tags in Brazil) to decide my replacement. Is there a real answer about what's best between the two? Is it as simple as just going with whatever has more VRAM and staying away from known bad manufacturers? Any tips are very welcomed!

OK so I just got a RX 480 8GB, and I noticed you could use AMD eyefinity in profiles for your games. Thats cool i thought so i set it up for all my racing games ( Need For Speed MW, Dirt 3/4) and it worked beautifully for the first 3 weeks, then i go to play those games today and it doesn't work.. it activates for the middle monitor, but not for the 2 side monitors. those don't change. so then the game looks awful squished into the middle screen what should be spread out across all 3. I have one running off a display port adapter, the other off HDMI and the last one off HDMI... oddly enough the left one displays static while playing these games if you turn it off an on, and the right one just sits on the desktop.... i really dont know what is going on as it worked fine for 2-3 weeks, then didn't work today. I updated my drivers, and that didn't change anything, so i updated to 'optimal' and still no change. Used DDU and still no change. WHAT IS WRONG?! any help would be much appreciated, as i'm about at my wits end. (also note: the card still works fine when gaming without EYEFINITY on)

I found a used RX480 8gb for 140€. Should I pick it up? The seller said it wasn't used for mining and I could test it right there. I have a 2400G and 8Gigs of RAM, currently There's a 960 2Gig in my Rig.

Hello all, I have a XFX RX 480 8G. Never noticed this before, but where the 8 pin power connector is there is a dual bios switch and now there is a blue LED lighting up. Never seen this light before and havent changed anything in a long time. Updated the drivers and Radeon program the other day and thats when the light showed up. Any one have any idea what this light is for or whats its indicating? My own google searches have come up empty. Can add photos is anyone wants to see it and possibly help understand what its for. Thank you

ok guys, so as you can see this is from playing the Dauntless BETA (max settings 1080p), arround 3 hours of gameplay, each hunt the gpu reaches 81c, i lowered the voltage from 1.2 to 1.15 the stability improved alot, no more blackscreens (before this it would right into each hunt), but the temps before were arround 74c, i guess the gpu wasnt able to perform at its fullest due to instability? fyi, my ambient temp is 40c, and no, i cant do shit about it, my case has all of its fans also any ideas on this

So last Year i bought an RX 480 8GB Devil from Powercolor, and boy oh boy it was filled with troubles, Terrible cooling, despite having the largest aside the Strix version in Short, the videocard had a Metal Backplate to act as "support" and was told by powercolor themselves not to remove it, turns out that shit traps heat radiating from the back of the hard overheating components thus crashing (giving a black screen) even with the gpu die itself being at a healthy 70c so well, i simply removed every fucking piece of metal aesthetic bs and the card dropped from 72 (with fans at 65%) to 60c! while gaming heavily in OC mode (1330mhz) i even ramped the fans down to 55% and it stays constatly at 70c, Avoid Powercolor Cards, this isnt the first one ive seen like this, i bought it new from amazon.com for 220$, and returned it once, recieved another shitty card performance is great, is just that the card/cooling is crap

So, I fed into all of the hype over the RX 480 when it was first launched, went into best buy, and purchased the first RX 480 I saw. I later saw that it was an RS model. If I had waited and researched just slightly more I could have purchased a GTR for the same price. Anyways, I am considering an upgrade to my rig for gaming. I want to get the best performance for my money, and am even considering a Ryzen 5 1600X upgrade. That is in the distant future though. Here is my current setup: M5A97 R2.0 motherboard FX8350 over clockable to 4.1GHz with water cooling XFX RX 480 RS GPU 16GB of GSKILLS Ripjaws which are capable of 2133mhz memory speed. I haven't gotten a stable setup at 2133mhz with this mobo though. A Seagate 1TB HDD (Windows 10) and an old Toshiba laptop 500 GB HDD with Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus (Cheapest Linux setup I've found yet ) So I want to go out and purchase an SSD. I also would like to upgrade my graphics. I can play CoD BO3 at 110FPS with some stuttering and drops occasionally, and want to mitigate those. If I limit the FPS to 60, on very high settings it will occasionally drop to 40 fps. It runs pretty much just as "efficiently" when limited to 60 as when let loose at 110; there are still noticeable drops. Maybe it is my ram. Idk. I would like to crossfire with another RX 480 to try and brute force my problems away. I am lazy. I have read that crossfiring RX 480s have yielded 1080-like results. I definitely need the next best motherboard for this project too. Can you crossfire a "dud" of an RX 480 like my RS with a GTR and get noticeable gains versus crossfiring with another RS? Is crossfiring even a good idea for PC gaming? What future benefits could I also get from crossfiring my GPUs? What is the cheapest AM3+ motherboard for crossfiring? What about cheap motherboards for a Ryzen system? Here is my favorite game list: COD BO3 (and considering purchasing Infinite Warfare) XCOM 2 Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor I have read elsewhere that crossfiring yields different results for different games. Thanks for your time and response.

I have a AMD radeon rx 480 and was wondering why when I connect two monitors and try to play gta 5 or bo3 in extended screen it only plays in one. Do I need a second 480? Thanks!

Hey guys, so i bought a RX-480 DEVIL from amazon arround february, and it worked kinda fine, i started noticed that some games will cause a Weird Crash that will result in No signal and peripherals powering down, but the system will remain on, monitor will only show a black screen as no signal is being outputed, well i Atributed this to a Failing Really Old (5 years PSU) that ive been hammering with loads of diferent components, a Corsair CS 650 80+ GOLD well needless to say, after a while the PSU short circuited and Fried my motherboard too when it died (the new psu was actually in transit and arrived 2 days later) well i upgraded to a New Ryzen system with an EVGA 750W BQ BRONZE PSU not Great, but Good enough for what i have (for some reason the 750w was cheaper than the 600w ones) that aside, i rebuilt my system but the fucking shitass blackscreens keep Hapening @ fucking random @ really diferent games for not so called reasons, killing floor, player uknown battlegrounds, BF1, world of warcraft, it has happened on almost any game, it sometimes happens 5 times a day, and sometimes doesnt happen at all in a week, im going to buy a cheap GPU and RMA my RX 480 as it still has warranty, fuck, everytime i buy something fuccking new it just dies, any tips? theres no crash logs, theres no anything, it will just go to a black screen

I have 2 480s, 1 sapphire 1 reference, and i lost the sillicon lottery. My reference card can only get 1400 on the core running at 1.275 volts and my sapphire card can only get 1412 on 1.275 volts. Im kinda sad because my sapphire cooler is held back only by the core.

So I have a sapphire nitro+ rx 480 overclocked to 1412 with +96 of the vcore and whenever i run kombustor i notice that my card will throttle due to a lack of power (im talking down into the 1100s) and after a few minutes will black screen. I have my fan curve at 100% and it just barely manages to keep it around 80, but after a few minutes i black screen. I think this is due to power consumption. While its running it takes 220w of power, well above the 480 165w limit. I think this is the reason but im not sure. Any help?

Hi Guys, I have two RX 480's in crossfire. If I leave ULPS enabled I notice I get pretty poor performance, from what I can make out in MSI Afterburner/GPU-Z this is because the memory speed on the 2nd card doesn't increase from 600mhz to its 3D rate of 2000mhz. However, if I disable ULPS, I get good scaling as both cards sit at their full speed of 2000mhz on the memory. Know obvoiusly I have stated that by disabling ULPS I can "work around" this problem, however, I do like the idea of having the second card power down when I'm browsing etc. Do you guys know of any other direction I could go with this? I would be really greatful if you guy could let me know you thoughts, or whether you experienance a simular issue. I have tried the last drivers 17.4.4, a fresh instal of Windows 10. Scratching my head with this one a bit. But I can't get the second card to "ramp" up! Many Thanks Chris

I was wondering how any other fellow sapphire nitro+ 480 users are going along with their overclocks? What's the max you've achieved? Was it hard or easy? Mines at 1306 has been for awhile despite my sig saying 1400, I had it at 1400 for a while and it seemed steady but then I was having a stutter issue so I reset it (the stutter turned out to be a color changing program messing with my monitor) and I just haven't OC'd it again yet.

Ok so I'm planning to build a pc. The list of pc parts is here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6PFnJV Ok, so about 3 months ago, I bought the power supply (rm750x) and a Asus Gtx 1060 3GB OC, on sale. [115$ and 250$] I was originally planning to build a white build, but I changed my mind. So since I bought it on sale I can sell it for higher and buy a new gpu. I will of course have to put out some more money though. So my problem is, I dont know what gpu I want to get. So in the build it says the EVGA 1060 3GB FTW, but I am also considering other gpus. Theres a ASUS RX 480 8GB ROG Strix for 300$, but the thing is, its really big. Im also considering the ASUS RX 570 4GB ROG Strix [290$]. Personally I really like the ASUS ROG Strix card with 3 fans, but I think it would look too big in my case, also I dont think it looks good when a gpu sags, but in the other hand it performs a bit better. Mainly I am concerned about how it looks though. Any of the cards perform well enough for me, and its not like its a huge difference between any of them. I like the Asus cards because they have RGB, but the EVGA would look so good together with my white led ram, also I think the EVGA card looks kind of classy. Im looking more for what you think would look better and maybe some suggestions on my build, than what performs better. Im also adding a poll, but I'm not sure if it will work, as it hasn't worked for me before.

Alright I need some advice. I have decided to build a PC and have decided on all the parts except the graphics card. I originaly was going to go with the rx 480 nitro + but then I saw how cheap the 1070 dual asus was. The hardest part is that I got a 144hz 1080p freesync monitor back in January so now I'm not sure if I should push it back and wait for vega. Any advice would be helpfull.

GTX 970 for $175 worth?? or push for 480 4gb for $199 ?? Should I go for the cheaper 970 3.5gb and get that extra cash for a game instead or go for the 480 4gb and get all that sweet performance

So I have a 480 and I'm considering crossfire. Just wondering if it's better to buy an rx 470 to go along with it instead of another 480.
