Hi there! I've been saving up for quite a while now and intend to get a Vega GPU (not FE) as soon as they come out. Here are the games I intend to play once I upgrade my GPU & Display : The Witcher 3, Prey, Dishonored 2, Battlefield 1, SW Battlefront 1&2, GTA V, Overwatch, CSGO, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, and obviously many more upcoming AAA titles. I'm not a content creator, I only play videogames and I'm tired of my old GTX660 getting barely 50fps on Tomb Raider As I expect the Vega GPU's performance will be overkill for my current display (good ol' 20inch full hd 60Hz), I'm considering the following options for my display upgrade : - A 21:9 1080p with high refresh rate and Freesync 2 for maximum fps goodness - A 21:9 1440p, still high refresh rate but I probably won't be constantly above 100fps (so I might benefit from Freesync 2 even more) - A 16:9 1440p, same as above, but I might get constant >100fps - Samsung's new 32:9 1080p (looks real neat but I'm not quite sure what gaming would look like at this aspect ratio) What do you think would be the most enjoyable experience ? If there's a huge budget difference between displays, I might also take that into account by the way.

I just bought a 21:9 monitor the other day, and everything has been great up until I tried to play an older game that does not support 21:9. Instead of placing black bars, it crops the 16:9 content to 21:9, lowering the resolution and making things look weird. All games are cropped this way until I change the resolution, but this is a problem for games that don't support 21:9. Mods that change the game's resolution don't help. The monitor is an LG UM58-P without freesync or Gsync. I am using an RX 480. I'm perfectly fine with playing the games 16:9 on this monitor if I can find a way to do that.

I have a TV in the sitting room hooked up to a digital tv receiver. I use the TV receiver to playback media from a USB stick . the problem is that it only supports 4:3 and 16:9 so anything in 21:9 get stretches and looks signifigantly worse. Is there any way I can fix this via update , converter etc

Since the Dell UltraSharp 32 8K Monitor (UP3218K) exists, I am sure that it is possible to make a 21:9 2160p monitor with a decent frame rate. So why hasn't anyone?

Been searching for a resolution to this issue for a while. Not sure if it's a driver support issue or not at this point. I've been fighting with trying to get display scaling to preserve aspect ratio on my 21:9 monitor (native 2560x1080). It seems to scale fine for any resolution 1680x1050 or lower (tested with 1680x1050, 1600x900, 1280x1024, 1280x720, etc.) but as soon as I try to set it to 1920x1080 it goes to stretch mode. I know it was working in Windows 10 at one point, but I can't remember if it was before Creators or Anniversary update. The game I'm trying to get working nicely is Starcraft II, but the issue can be reproduced in pretty much any game (even forcing 1920x1080 on games that will run 2560x1080). As a work around I've been running apps in borderless windowed mode, but I'd really love to have the full screen scaling back again. The other work around is temporarily setting the 21:9 display to 1920x1080 in Windows and that also works. Things I've tried: DX9 vs DX11 AMD Drivers 17.4.3, 17.4.4, 17.6.1, 17.7.1 Display Driver Uninstaller with fresh driver installs Testing in multiple full screen apps Setting the AMD driver global display scaling to "Preserve aspect ratio" Setting AMD driver .exe specific profile display scaling to "Preserve aspect ratio" (profile known to be working as fps targets were set and working) The system is currently running Windows 10 latest mainstream build/updates (version 1703 build 15063.413) with an R9 290 and AMD 17.7.1 drivers with an LG 34UM67-P connected by DisplayPort. Short of doing a fresh install, I can't think of anything else to try. Any suggestions are welcome!

Is this the best buy? I'd prefer the monitor's stand and bezels look nice as well as it have good specs. What would you recommend?

so i am using Asus PB298q 29 inch ultra wide (21:9) monitor with a resolution of 2560*1080. The only thing that bothers me is that whenever i watch movies; it feels a bit laggy. i ran the same exact movie in my Sony Bravia 50 inch 1080p 3d Tv. But it was way better than the monitor. Anyone with ultra wide monitors facing the same issue? Tried with different software but the problem remain unresolved

Hi all Anyone of you guys know if a monitor with these specs is on its way. I know it's possible with dp 1.3 but i can't find any news on this or upcoming releases. I know is almost CES so i really have my hopes high they will be announced at this show. There is a updated version next year of the acer x34p but it will "only" be able to do 100hz. Maybe an updated version of the asus rog swift pg348q would be nice aswell. Any news on this is much appreciated. Thx

Hi there I am looking for a monitor but my computer is in the living room and my dad does not want a multi monitor setup. Therefore I have a choice of putting up with a single monitor or getting an ultrawide. My use case consists of gaming, video editing and work (Microsoft office etc.) My budget is £250 ($300). Do you have any recommendations for monitors under that price, especially ultrawide options? Thanks in advance!!!

So I can't currently do eyefinity because my triple monitor setup is: (Acer 23.6" - Samsung 32" - Acer 23.6"). So I need a new middle screen that has the same height as the flanking monitors but i quite fancy 21:9 monitors. So I did some research and the the LG 21:9 29" monitor has a height of 29cm while my current 23.6" monitors have a height of 29.4cm. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of setup and would the .4cm be noticeable?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-29-ips-lcd-hd-219-ultrawide-monitor/4922000.p?skuId=4922000 Lowest price for a 29" ultrawide I've seen.

Hey guys! I've been looking around the ultrawide monitor market and have opted for a 21:9 ultrawide setup. My goal is to run ultra settings at or above 60 fps on a 1440p resolution and I'm planning to do this on a single 1080 card. From what I've seen in benchmarking results, the 1080 is able to average a healthy 65-90 on even the most intensive AAA titles when maxed. Looking around, I am definitely considering Acer's x34 mainly because of it's g-sync module. I'm aware that the XR341CK is almost a carbon copy of it only with Freesync instead. Though seeing as I won't really benefit from having g-sync or not as my card won't hit over 100 fps to match the 100hz refresh, I'm starting to wonder if I should just get an LG 34" or something that'll shave off a near $600+. In a realistic setting, I'll only plan to play these graphic intensive games every so often, and will probably play games like Overwatch and Hearthstone for a large portion of the time. Since Blizzard games are well optimised I would expect that they maintain well above 100 fps. So in saying this, is it worth the G-sync if I also play these light workload games? Will I experience screen tearing when playing virtual card games? And if so, is it something that a little V-sync won't fix without drastically increasing input delays. Tech netizens, I'd love to hear from you, Xcydus

Hello Linus tech tips forum users, Who here plays on ultrawide and what games? And how are you liking it? Just finished my new gaming pc: Ryzen 3700x and RTX 2080 And I am looking to upgrade my monitor. I originally planned to buy the LG 34GK950f but I am really torn by the games I play. Mostly: FPS games like Apex legends, CSGO, Battlefield 5, New Call of Duty modern warfare once it comes out and the occasional tomb raider, assassins creed, guildwars 2 Would you recommend the LG 34GK950f (3440x1440 @144Hz) ultrawide or the LG 27GL850 (2560x1440 @ 144Hz)? Kind regards, Alex

I know 32:9 is out of bounds for the >143PPI clarity I seek. So, are there 21:9 monitors with that or better PPI? I realise I am asking for 4K's PPI in a 21:9 aspect ratio. But, is there something? I know I will be stuck with 60Hz, but I am not looking for competitive gaming. I still have to decide on my GPU between 2080 and 2080TI.

Hi. So I currently using this HP 14 R103TX laptop and it has HD4400 and GT820M. I'm considering to buy a monitor and hook it up since 14" TN panel 1366x768 isn't good enough for home use. The laptop has 2 display outputs which are VGA and HDMI (which I'm sure is 1.4). The question is, will it able to run 2560x1080 60Hz? This LG 29WK600 is nice but as what I've learned from the internet, HDMI 1.4 doesn't support 21:9 ratio.

Is there any way to play a game on Fullscreen while not having the native resolution? My problem is that I would want to play at 1920x1080 (16:9) on my 2560x1080 (21:9) monitor. That's all good. I can change the resolution inside Windows or change it in NVIDIA Control Panel so I have black bars on the sides. I want to play on 1400x1050 stretched to 1920x1080. Thats fine too IF I play on a monitor with that resolution. But I would want to play on my 21:9 monitor downscaled to 16:9 with black bars while having the 1400x1050 streched TO 16:9. The problem is that when I open the game the resolution resets to the native and statches to that so It's 1400x1050 stratched to 2560x1080 instead of streatched to 1920x1080. I find it very difficult to explain what I would want to do so here is a graph. I'm sorry if the image is hard to see/understand but I am in a hurry and I can't figure out another way.

Hi I have a 21:9 monitor but I was wondering if I could change it to 16:9 with black bars on the side and then stretch it to 4:3 I added a picture to kinda show what i mean

Can I play Fortnite with 3440x1440p on UW monitor fullscreen?

Hello, i have some questions. I have a Sony x900f 4k tv and i would like to use the 3840x1620 resolution (forced 21:9) to play some games on ultra wide aspect ratio. I've read that doing so can permanently damage the TV and i should only use 16:9 and avoid black bars, is this true?. Also the tv is 120hz but due to the limited bandwidth of the hdmi 2.0 i have to use 60hz at 4k. I have made a custom resolution of 1440p at 120hz. Can this also damage the TV?

So i'm going to upgrade my monitor from a 23" 16:9 1080p 60hz to a 21:9 1440p. Any suggestion on which is better and why? i'm looking for an IPS panel, but is there such a big difference between IPS and VA? Does somebody have experience with brands and complains of some brands or manufacturing of the monitors i have a 1000€ budget for a new monitor and so far i've come across Alienware AW3418DW and Acer Predator x34 or x34p i believe,

Hey guys, Im recently stuck with my LG 24GM77-B(24inch, 144Hz, 1080p,TN) and as I recently upgraded my PC i was now wondering if it was worth getting an ultrawide/new monitor. NEW PC: MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon, Ryzen 7 3700X, Palit Jetstream RTX2070 SUPER, 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz DDR4, Samsung 970EVO-PLUS 500GB & 1TB, 1TB Crucial MX1 SSD, Power Supply: be quiet! Pure Power 11 700W 80+ Gold and as for Cooling i got the be quiet! Dark Rock 4 and 4 Silent Wings 3 in the case. As I immersed in the topic of gaming/ultrawide monitors i just got more and more confused and doubtful.... My first question is if it is worth getting an ultrawide with 1440p instead of 1080p (both 144Hz)? Then I wonder if I my PC is capable to push games like GTA, PUBG, Warframe, CS:GO, Rocket League, Conquerors Blade, Rainbow and of course Star Citizen on 1440p ultrawide?(I know the only REALLY demanding game im playing is Star Citizen, cuz I dont like the most AAA-titles but probably I´ll go for BO4/MW/BFV/Skull&Bones(if they release it at some point)/ANNO1800 to name a few) Has anyone also made the decision to go from 16:9 to 21:9 and plays many FPS and can tell me what kind of improvements and also what bad things they experienced? My current choice would be the LG 34GK950F-B(1440p, 144Hz) although im struggling btw. UW 1440p 144Hz / UW 1080p 144Hz / non-UW 1080p 240Hz / non-UW 1440p 144Hz (I really need help ?) Btw. I would still use my LG 24GM77-B as a second monitor for all UW and non-UW options for e.g. streaming/binge-watching I´m open to anything

Hey guys, I have well an unusual question lol as shown in this topics title lol. Here is a quick rundown. I have 2 PCs one is a custom built PC I made back in 2014 inside a Corsair 780T case with an i7 4790k and a Windforce GTX 970. The other is for games and programs that don't play nice with Windows 10 (there are emulators to play such games but some games and programs require alot of mess to get running unlike this PC which can just play it without any hassle with a flick of the bootloader). I have them both on the same desk and a Samsung 21:9 2560x1080p monitor in the middle. My old PC is a 1999 Dell Dimensions L1000R Here is the PC Specs OS: Dual-Boot of Windows XP & Windows 7 CPU: Pentium III 997Mhz RAM: 256MB SDRAM GPU: nVidia GeForce EVGA 6200 with Full DVI - VGA - and S-Video HDDs: Dual 40GB IDE Harddrives with a 1TB ext storage drive. Audio: SoundBlaster 128 PCI Audiocard with Gameport. I can currently get it to display on my 21:9 Samsung at 1920x1080p at 60FPS. But I cant get it any higher, is it possable to use an adapter to displayport to make this work as the monitor does not have DVI. Only HDMI and Displayport Also notes: Yes it even can play Crysis and even Minecraft and a decent res with setting turned down lol
