  1. Update round 2; I ended up ordering an XB323U GX and it's been great so far. It isn't a perfect panel, there's a fair bit of IPS glow, but I've just accepted it's inherent to the technology. The contrast isn't as good as my G7, but the motion handling (which was already excellent on the g7) is even better, and colors are outstanding. Overall I've been very pleased with it, but it was very expensive. Around $1300 tax included and shipped in Canada.
  2. UPDATE: Incase anyone stumbles across this post. Stahlmann was absolutely right (like always lol) All I needed to do was disable my ICC profile and the problem vanished. Thanks again! Love you all
  3. Huh. I actually didn't know that ICC profiles use the sRGB colorspace. I guess it would be as simple as uninstalling the ICC profile? There's guides around i'm sure, or I can just reinstall windows. Really appreciate the answer man!
  4. Nope no HDR on because HDR generally just sucks lolol. At least for desktop use in my experience
  5. I do! I have an ICC Profile attached to my g7. Maybe that's what's happening. Once I " let go " of the mouse I guess it loads the ICC?
  6. Hey y’all; having a really weird issue I’m hoping maybe you guys can help me with because I just can’t crack it. heads up, this will make me seem like a crazy person but I PROMISE it’s 5x more noticeable in person. So I run a 2 monitor setup, an odyssey g7 32inch, and a dell SD2716dg. I’ve never really been happy with the performance of my G7. I always thought it looked a little washed out. then I realized there’s something really weird going on. When I move a window from my G7 over to my Dell, and then back over to the G7, it looks a million times better. The colours pop more and the entire window feels more vibrant. once I let go of the mouse (essentially ‘putting it’ back onto my g7), the colours revert back to the dull colours im used too. I don’t have a custom ICC set up on my Dell. I thought that’s what it was but nope. I have 10bit enabled on my g7. When I disconnect my Dell the g7 goes ‘ back ‘ to those vibrant colours for a few minutes, and before I know it it’s back to it’s more dull self. I really can’t crack this one. I wish the panels colours looked like that all the time. I can’t tell if it’s some very obscure windows glitch, or if my g7 is defective. like I said, I swear to god it is much much much more noticeable in person. Keep in mind I also cranked the vibrancy through my phone so my phone would pick it up a bit better. The colours aren’t that crazy over saturated in real life lol in person my g7 has never felt right, unless I’m dragging windows over from my 2nd monitor lol. Any ideas? Thanks guys. 7. UPDATE; incase anyone stumbled across this. I purchased a 32GP850, and upon opening it and taking it out of the box I decided almost immediately to return it. IPS glow was atrocious with my unit, and I don’t have the mental fortitude to keep shipping monitors back to Amazon to try for a panel lottery. I compared them side by side and the 850 has better colors for sure and viewing angles, however it isn’t as dramatic as I thought. The G7 has noticeably better contrast and no IPS glow of course. once the XB323U and or PG329Q become readily available, I may reconsider. But for now, the G7 stays picture of IPS glow attached
  8. Just ordered one myself! Good luck to us
  9. Wow thank you so much for this. This is exactly what I was looking for. You're the man. I seem to have narrowed it down to the 32GP850 and the Aorus FI32Q. How do you feel about the Aorus? I really really don't want to go back to 27inches if i'm honest. I assume when you said you would recommend the 27gp850, you meant the 32gp850? Thanks again, so so much
  10. Wow this is awesome. I had no idea you could make rating profiles. Thanks so much
  11. I've seen that channel before but never dove in, i'll check it out! While I have all the respect in the world for HWU/TFTCentral and their peers, I'm not a color specialist, so a lot of the graphs go over my head. I'd prefer a reviewer that looks more into BLB, viewing angles and overall colors from a more layman's standpoint.
  12. I hate that you're probably right, haha. I don't mind going to IPS, it's probably better overall anyway. 32 inch would be my preferred size though.
  13. I don't disagree, but the 32 inch form factor of the Odyssey was great. I don't know if I'd be able to go back. Is there one you'd absolutely recommend at 27inch? Can't hurt to look into it!
  14. Hey guys! So, as the title states, I'm looking into replacing my Odyssey G7 32inch. I'm running a 10700k, 3080 Strix, and 32gb of 4000Mhz, for reference. I'm not very good at typing out how I feel, and I'm obsessive when it comes to these things, so I'm sorry in advance. Maybe this is a good audience for obsessing over the awful state of monitors? lol The Odyssey is a "great" monitor. However the problems that I have with it outweigh the positives. The Odyssey has a lot of pros, the curve isn't bad at all (to my eyes). It's very extreme, and it does indeed warp images, say if you're in windows explorer, for example. However, personally that doesn't bother me, I find it kind of amusing because I'm a child at heart. The refresh rate is outstanding. The panel, physically looks great. It's "mean" looking, with the RGB and the aggressive curve. It's definitely a talking point when people see it in my apartment. The OSD is VERY good, and it's bright as the sun. HDR is passable considering it's certification. It doesn't add much in my opinion, but at least in this panel it's more than just a buzzword, and actually does things. However I have some issues with it I just can't seem to get off my mind. The backlight bleed is less than stellar, so while it sports a much higher contrast ratio, it doesn't really feel that way. I bought this panel mainly cue to the VA contrast, and blacks are inky and great looking, however when there's BLB all over the panel, it looks just as bad as my old XB271HU, and personally at least, my eyes gravitate toward those spots in dark scenes, rather than the nicer blacks. Colors as well seem to give me some issues. I can never seem to get it to look "great". I'm using the factory calibrated " custom" setting as I don't have a colorimeter. I've tried everything from Rtings/HWU recommended 9/10/11 black equalizer, to TFTCentral's recommended Gamma 2 preset, and everything in between. (i've also tried all other presets on the panel a billion times over) So far I've settled on a black equalizer of 16, contrast at 80 and gamma 2 preset. I realize from the outside looking in that makes the picture not accurate and blown out, however it's the only way I can get the images to pop and look and feel "premium". My older Acer Predator always seemed to look better. I've spent countless hours looking up everyone's settings on the G7, and at the end of the day, I've accepted the fact that I just don't love the way it looks. It always feels dull and a little washed out. And no, HDR isn't on. In order for the visuals to look good (to my eyes) I have to crank the black equalizer and contrast so high, that it looks good in video games, but YouTube or any other environment looks awkward, and blown out. Long story short, I've just never been satisfied with the picture quality. I also do have the same issues that most have, occasional screen flickering (only in loading menus since the latest 1009 firmware) and the scanline issues. My panel also seems to have some gamma shift, which I realize is normal for VA, but it's annoying. For example I'm playing through Days Gone at the moment, and the health bar located in the bottom left of the screen looks super washed out unless I duck my head down and look at it head on. I've contemplated just exchanging it with a new panel, as I've only had it 6 months, but with all the underlying issues of this panel I think I've decided I don't want to play panel lottery 6 times over just to get a " good " curved VA panel. ANYWAY; I've been looking into a few new monitors. Money isn't really a question (so long as it isn't that silly new ASUS MINILED/OLED hybrid panel that costs more than my first car) The 4 panels I've narrowed it down to are, ASUS PG329Q, Acer Predator XB323U, M32Q and the LG 32GP850. I absolutely want a 32 inch panel. I'd prefer not to go 4k, as although my system wouldn't have much issues, I don't want to deal with the scaling, lower average framerates and higher price tag. I'm quite comfortable with high refresh 1440p. It doesn't need to be 240hz, 170/180 is fine. Hell anything 160 and above is fine. I always had a hard time noticing between 170 and 240hz anyway. I've been trying to find another VA panel, as in theory I like the higher contrast levels, but I can't seem to find one without huge compromises. Either it has horrendous panel uniformity, or black smearing. I'm looking for some recommendation and guidance on my next panel. It seems all of the ones I listed above have huge drawbacks. I realize that's just the way premium monitors are (at least until OLED becomes standard) but they all seem to have very big problems. The PG329Q seems to only run at 8bit, unless you cap it to 120hz and it'll run 10bit. I've seen some conflicting reports so feel free to tell me if I'm wrong. I realize it's something I may never notice, but I don't want to downgrade, especially if I'm considering keeping this monitor for a few years. The LG 32GP850 is very new, so reviews are hard to find. HWU said it's a great panel, albeit the contrast is very low. It's IPS so that's to be expected, but it's still one of the lowest contrast they've seemed to ever test. 800:1 or something. The M32Q seems promising, but I've seen reports of very very bad BLB and it's "cheap" which of course is a good thing, it just makes me feel like it's missing something that I can't see. The Predator seems great in theory, seems like an upgraded version of the PG329Q. However verified amazon reviews seem to mention some panel uniformity issues and bad BLB. It's also $1250 CAD, which is $200 more than my G7 tax in, and it doesn't seem to make sense why. in a perfect world I'd just buy a 32/34 inch OLED. But they obviously don't exist. So for now, i'm looking for the "best" 1440p 32 inch high refresh panel. Anyway, I've rambled enough. Just looking for like minded people to share in my misery, and maybe guide me in the right direction. So sorry again for the massive wall of text and rambling, I'm sure most of you won't read all of it, (I wouldn't lol) Thanks again;
