  1. My favorite feature that was highlighted in this video series was the smart switch feature, which shows how easy it would be to switch from my pos iPhone to a GS6 if I won one.
  2. I seem to have gotten witcher 3 to work, as you know, crossfire doesn't work when a game isn't in fullscreen, and witcher 3 decided to default to borderless window even though I previously set it to fullscreen. But for some reason MSI Afterburner still read both cards as 100% usage even when crossfire wasn't doing anything, which is why I thought it was broken.
  3. Yeah, I think that's the case. Dying light is terrible for me, there's flashing and artifacting. However, the few times it works, I only get about a 10 FPS increase. Battlefield 3 isn't even taxing, with both cards at 70% usage they push out 90fps. Metro Last Light is still having an issue where whenever there are NPCs on my screen, the FPS goes from 60-70 down to 25-40. Although this is probably because I have Advanced PhysX enabled on CPU (but CPU usage doesn't ever go above 70%?) I don't have tomb raider, but I just tested GTA V now that ULPS is properly disabled, and I get 60-80 fps now, so that's great.
  4. Is there any particular reason scaling sucks with these specific cards? Lol
  5. Not to mention in other games such as dying light, I'm getting the same framerate I'd get with a single card, both the GPUs are not at 100% usage (only around 70 max), and neither is the CPU. Again, power limits have been set as high as possible so that they don't limit their performance.
  6. I've disabled ULPS, but looking back after reinstalling it's been reenabled. After disabling it and restarting, both GPUs are sitting at 100% usage 1030mhz core clock in Witcher 3, but I'm still getting worse framerates than I did with a single card?
  7. So my second 7950 just came in the mail today (bought it for $105 shipped). I've put it in my system, done a clean driver install, and made sure the crossfire bridge is properly installed. However, playing multiple games, I've noticed poor performance. I just installed the 15.5 driver for Witcher 3, but I still get around 40 fps (which is what I got with a single card). Looking at MSI Afterburner's on screen display, it shows both cards only doing about 30-50% usage. Not to mention, it shows GPU2 going into power saving mode and underclocking. This is the case in other games as well, such as Battlefield 3, GTA V, Metro Last Light, Dying Light, etc. I've never seen the cards go above 70% usage. My CPU is not bottlenecking, as it's a 3570k overclocked to 4.5 ghz. CPU usage in games is only 50-80% across all four cores in games. My PSU is rated at 1000W and is 80 Plus Bronze certified. What is causing this terrible performance? VSync was disabled in all games. Neither card got above 70 degrees in any game, and power limits were set to +20 on both cards. GPU-Z reports both cards are running in PCI-E 3.0 8X speeds. This performance is disappointing, and makes me wish more and more that I bought an Nvidia card when I first built my rig.
  8. My favorite form factor keyboard are tenkeyless mechanical keyboards. I currently have a full size Razer BlackWidow, and I find that I never use the numpad, and that it's just a waste of space sitting there. 60% keyboard's are also badass because of their portability, as well as the fact that they take up almost no space on your desk. I've never actually owned one though.
  9. It's the Double D cooler with the oddly designed "xfactor" hydrocell cooler that came on the card. In my experience so far it's been a nightmare. So I guess it's just an XFX thing for these cards to overclock so badly? Not to mention mine will sometimes underclock to 500mhz in games when it's only running at 70-80 degrees. But currently I have no budget really, saving my money for other things. But when it comes to the point that the card cannot perform at all in modern games I'll go for a top tier card again most likely, except from nvidia.
  10. I have an AMD Radeon HD 7950 (Double D Edition from XFX) and it doesn't really like to overclock. The maximum overclock I can achieve on the core is 1ghz, and if I push it any higher, it will crash instantly in games. I have used different programs, such as MSI Afterburner, to allow the unofficial overclocking mode, disable power saving modes, force constant voltage, etc. but the card still won't take it. Is it normal for these cards to not overclock well? I think I heard somewhere that they don't like to run at fast speeds due to the ginormous size of the gpu die/core itself or something lol. Not to mention I cannot overvolt it, the voltage settings are locked. Saphire Trixx allows me to adjust the voltage, but it doesn't seem to help. I want to squeeze every last bit of performance out of this card and push it on air so I know if buying a waterblock is worth it, but considering I can't overclock it to push the cooling on air it doesn't seem worth it and I may just pick up something from Nvidia this time around, switch to the green team. (I've had to many issues with this card...)
  11. Hey all, just a quick question about batteries for laptops and other devices. I have a 12 cell li-ion battery for my notebook, rated at 8400mah and 95wh. Why exactly is the battery capacity at this level, while when I look on ebay I see li-ion rechargeable cells that hold 3400mah 12.6wh each. If I put 12 of those cells into my battery, I would have a 40,800mah 151.2 wh battery. Is such a thing possible, or are the cells way overrated? They're panasonic 18650 cells, the same type in my battery. Is the significantly higher mah rating going to improve the run time, or only the higher watthour rating?
  12. I recently started school at a place that allows laptops. Because of this, I bought a 12 cell battery and solid state drive for my old HP Pavilion DV4, increasing the battery life drastically. After multiple hours of note-taking, I still had 85% battery left. Sometimes when programs are doing something in the background, the CPU usage goes up to 100% since I have it underclocked to increase battery life. So here is my question: Does it use less battery power to have it underclocked and running at 100% load for a couple minutes, or higher clock speed with less load? Thanks
  13. So I have a slight problem with GPU cooling in my Bitfenix Prodigy case. I have the blue one, which comes with a windowed side panel. This is great for water cooled GPU's as you can see the beautiful water block, but for an air cooled card like mine (XFX Radeon HD 7950 with the DD dual fan internal exhaust cooler) it basically suffocates it to the point that it runs at 100c under normal gaming load. As you can imagine, it is extremely loud, and also bad for the graphics card. I have a water cooling loop, but it uses a 5.25" bay pump/res combo unit. There is nowhere to put it in this case. And I currently do not have the money to afford a new pump, resovoir, as well as a GPU block. Does anybody know if there is such a thing as a non windowed blue side panel for this case? If so, where are they sold? Cheers P.S. One solution I though of was doing one of those mods where you use an AIO liquid cooler on the GPU. Does anybody know of a kit that would work with the 7950? Thanks.
  14. Hahahahaha very true sir. To make things better it's 667MHz DDR2 ;D a whole 4 gigs of it
  15. It's a basic gaming machine he got practically for free, it runs Metro Last Light at medium settings 40-60fps. I think that's pretty decent...
