  1. Refurbishment probably, i bought it for 50 pound, was such a steal dont really have the money for something proper :L I hear the PSU can be the cuase of fan issues aswell..
  2. Hi all, I have a HP DL380 g5 that I use for plex, however, I've noticed that the PSU's buzz. When the server is turned off and unplugged, I plug it in and the PSU makes a noticeably loud buzzing sound. When I turn on the server it is drowned out by the fans and I believe the buzzing gets quieter but tends to alternate in how loud it is. I have also noticed that the systems fans tend to ramp up over time slowly but surely and to reset them i find unplugging the power seems to be the trick It may be that a simply need to get new PSU's for it, but that is a hard and costly task since it is no longer in production. I have recently tried the ProLiant service patch which is meant to allow the servers to slow down, but am not there to be able to verify this.
  3. Yeah i remember that. very fun tbf im at university so just wait a while for stuff to get interesting
  4. Well the real issue here is if they want to download files from it at work or somewhere else. Because it is dependant on their upload speed and because nearly all ISP's give asymmetric connections the upload will always be slower (from the pi - to the client) The Ethernet port on it is 10/100 (100Mbps) which is disappointing I assumed it would be gigabit, however because we are aiming this product at home/small businesses and trying to make it low cost I think it will be fine. We intent to have it connect to Wi-Fi as an alternative so people don't have to run cables through their house. We're mainly using the raspberry pi because I have one and our university can lend us another, thanks for bringing light to this issue.
  5. Not fast enough for what? The cloud web portal to transfer data to the user?
  6. There is, however not much changes between them. That's the evaluation copy of windows and isn't activated. I didn't realise they would change something so minor because your product isn't activated
  7. Hi, thanks for reading. I have been set a group project where we have to come up with something innovative/original to do with a Raspberry Pi/Arduino. We have some ideas and I was hoping to get some improvements, other good suggestions or even flaws you find in out plans. Raspberry Pi Home Server- This has been done before i know, however we wanted to add a little twist to it through the following features. Have RAID Wi-Fi repeater media server for a living room (maybe using XBMC) UPS battery backup (Since it's a raspberry pi with 2 or more hard drives attached I wouldn't think it would consume a lot of energy) Automaticly backup files from network attached computers (like Cobian Backup) Have a Web portal so you can access your files from work I know Cloud is a thing, but the idea is a personal cloud, where you can store as much data as you like. I don't like how this project isn't very original, maybe some more functionality could product more of a reason for existing. Was also thinking of 3d printing a enclosure for it, but am not experienced at 3d design. 2. Raspberry VR - I know realise this isn't the best idea considering how phones can easily become a VR headset. We have 2 months to complete this project and will post the results on here if it goes well.
  8. ah ok, thanks. It looks like £15 to get a new one. I'll have to take it in some where, i tried to fix my old ipod touch a while ago and i never got it back together.
  9. ok, is the digitizer the screen on the phone, or the thing in front of the screen that allows you to input touch in to it?
  10. Hey, for about a year now my phone has been having some weird issues, the touch screen becomes very non responsive to touch, if i can get it to acknowledge me and unlock the phone it spams buttons on the screen, but now the sessions in which it does this have been getting longer making the phone practically worthless. Furthermore the bottom bar used for navigation never detects when i touch it. I have a nexus 4 running andriod 5.1 cyanogen mod. I have tried many different OS's telling me its not a software error. I have dropped the phone a few times but the screen is not broken, maybe i need to replace a part? any help is very appreciated.
