  1. Hi, my Dell XPS 9560 came with a 130w power adapter. Is it possible to use a Dell 90w power adapter? I would like to get something a little slimmer and lighter for travel. I have a Dell XPS 13 with a 45W and tested it with my XPS 15. It charged but at a much slower pace. I'm not sure if this is safe or not. They both produce the same amount of amp output. Thanks. David
  2. Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'll end up using the NF-S12A FLX. David
  3. Hi, I'm building a new mATX case. I am going to install a 120mm case fan. Currently, I have on hand is a Noctua NF-S12A FLX and an NZXT AER P. I was planning on using the Noctua but the fan has to push air through a filter that cannot be removed. Are there any disadvantages to using a static pressure fan as a case fan? Sound level is not too much of a concern. Thanks in advance for any advice David Noctua NF-S12A FLX (non PWN but can be controlled by the motherboard) Airflow: 107,5 m³/h Acoustical Noise 17,8 dB(A) Static Pressure 1,19 mm H₂O NZXT AER P Airflow: 18.28~73.11 CFM Acoustical Noise 21~36dBA Static Pressure 0.18~2.93mm-H2O
  4. Ok, thanks the explanation. It's really helpful. I'll just get the same set. David
  5. Thanks for the reply. Both are Crucial brands and the same amount of 32GB. I'm not sure faster speed or lower latency is better for VMs. Nice pun :-)
  6. Hi, I have a Dell XPS 15 9560 at work and looking to upgrade to 32GB (16GB x 2). I use a few VMs at a time and my current 16GB is causing issues. I'm looking at either the: Ballistix Sport LT 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) CL16 for $267.99 or Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4 2133 MT/s (PC4-17000) CL15 for $249.99 on Amazon Do you know what would be a pick when working with virtual machines? Thanks. David
  7. Thanks for the advice. I'm too concern about the great look brown fan look. j/k I'll try them out and see what happens. Thanks agian! David
  8. Hi, I have a NZXT x52 AIO cooler with stock fans. It works great but it's kind of loud under loud. I was cleaning out my computer closet and found a pair of Noctua NF-12. Do you think it's worth swapping out the stock 120mm fans with the Noctua? I have a Ryzen 180X CPU. Thanks for the advice! David
  9. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that. David
  10. Hi, I have two gigabit ethernet ports on my motherboard (Killer E2500 & Intel 1211). Is it possible to set one of the ethernet ports to go through a VPN? I would run a few VMs on my desktop and would like a few of them to go through a VPN service. Can this be done in the OS, VMWare or do I need to get a second router VPN set up on it? Thank you. David
  11. Hi, I have a AMD 1800X and a NZXT X52. The radiator gets kind of loud once the CPU clock speeds gets above ~4.0ghz. Is it worth looking into getting NF-F12 PWN fans for the X52? The fan specs say that the NF-F12s have a little less static pressure than the included Aer P120s but are much quieter. I don't mind paying the $40 for the fans if it would tone down the noise when I start up a VM or start up a game. I have AMD cool & quiet enabled. Aer P120: 18.28~73.11, CFM 0.18~2.93mm-H2O, 21~36dBA NF-12 PWN: 93,4 m³/h, 2,61 mm H₂O 22,4 dB(A) NF-12 PWN low noise adapter: 74,3 m³/h, 1,83 mm H₂O, 18,6 dB(A) I would assume if I get them I would not use the low noise adapter. I assume the NF-F12 for radiators would be the best fans out there but I could be wrong. Any advice would be great. Thank you! http://noctua.at/en/nf-f12-pwm/specification https://www.nzxt.com/products/aer-p David
  12. Hi, thanks for the reply. I was thinking about replacing the fans because I was looking for something a quieter when the fans are run at higher speeds. I assumed that the NF-A14 or the ML Pros would better than the stock NZXT fans that came with the X61. I read the fans on the X62 had also be redesigned. David
  13. Thanks for the reply. I think i'm going to try the corsairs.
  14. Hi, I would like to replace the fans on my NZXT X61 280mm radiator. I'm thinking about either getting the 2x Noctua NF-A14 140mm fans or a 2 pack of Corsair ML140 (non-led). Both come out to be the same price. How could I tell what one's are better fans? Are there other fans out there that are better than these two for an AIO radiator? Thanks for any suggestions. David
  15. I removed the link but I think it good for people to know of an alternative in obtaining getting a bracket. I have no vested interest in Asetek. David
  16. Hi, I'm not sure if this has the yet, but I have been waiting for almost a month for NZXT to mail me a new bracket for my new AM4 socket motherboard. I found a post on Reddit where someone purchased the Asetek Liquid Cooler AMD AM4 Retention Ring Kit from Asetek on eBay for $11 with 2-day shipping. I ended up buying it to see if it works and it fits perfect. Below is the link if anyone is interested. I'm not sure why NZXT is delaying shipping of the AM4 bracket. Usually, they are a pretty good company sending you parts. David
  17. Hi I ended up going with the P2. I found out I can move the HDD cage forward in the case for about an 10mm space. Thanks for the help! David
  18. Hi, I bought a new Corsair Crystal 460X case and looking for a PSU for it. I need the hard drive cage in the case so the length of the PSU will have to be under about 165mm in order to have enough room for the cable connections. I'm looking at the EVGA 750 or 850 G3 ($119 on Amazon) or the EVGA 750 or 850 P2 ($129 on Amazon). From what I read on EVGA the main differences are: EVGA G3: 130mm fan, Hydraulic Dynamic Bearing, Gold EVGA P2: 140mm fan, Double Ball Bearing, Platinum I'm leaning towards the G3 because it's a newer model but I'm not sure. Any advice would be great. Thanks. David
  19. Hi, thanks for the quick response. I will try to mirror the drives Windows for awhile and see how it goes. I have True Image and automatically make backups of my OS drive to my HHDs. I David
  20. Hi, I have two 6TB drives that I would like to put in Raid 1 (Mirror). I have a Gigabyte X370 motherboard. I was wondering if it would best to do a RAID1 in the BIOS or mirror the drives in Windows 10 with Disk Management. Thanks. David
  21. Ok great, thanks for the info. I was just looking at see how the new X300 compares to Intel's. I have no plans to RAID esp the boot drive. David
  22. Thanks for the response. I do not have an AMD board but am curious if AMD is following Intel in allowing users to boot from RAID with the Z170 and Z270.
  23. Hi, does the new AMD X300 chipset support two M.2 NVMe in Raid 0 for a boot drive? I would like to see if it's possible to use one drive connected to the M.2 slot on the motherboard and the other drive would be connected to a x4 PCIe slot. I understand the risks but just curious to see if it's possible. Thanks! David
  24. @demonix00 and @ARikozuM thanks for the additional replies. Unfortunately, when I called WDC they told me I have an OEM drive and it's no longer cover under warranty. It works fine except for the initially loud grind so I think I'll keep using it for the time being. I do not have anything critical on it. David
  25. Thanks for the info. I do not know that much about hard drives. I'll call them tomorrow and see what are my options. David
