  1. Hi, I have a set of 2x8GB and 2x4GB memory G.SKILL memory. Both run at the same speed. Can I use them in the same motherboard? If so, what layout should I use? I assume 8,4,8,4 but not sure. Thanks. David
  2. Hi, I'm looking at buying an MSI X992 Gaming 7 X99 and G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400. Newegg has a combo deal where you can save $120 buying the two together. I also plan on getting an Intel Core i7-5820k 3.3 CPU. Will I able to overclock the CPU around 4.4 GHZ with this RAM or do I need to invest in faster RAM? Thanks. David
  3. Ok, well I work with a lot of VMs for my job. I wanted to get the new X99 motherboard because it supports up to 64 gigs. Does that mean applications, such as games, that only use one core, won't run as fast? Thanks.
  4. Thanks for the info. Does that mean that these CPUs aren't geared for the home user?
  5. Hi, I'm curious why are the new LGA 2011-3 Intel CPUs clock lower then the 1150 CPUs? Are they more efficient or is it a new architect? Thanks. David

  7. Hi, whenever I try to reboot my computer just stops. I tried reinstalling Windows, reset the CMOS and removing additonal hard drives but still the same problem. Do you know what could be causing this? Could it be a bad PSU? Thanks. David
  8. Thanks for the reply. I mean is it possible to move my RAID 1 drives to a new computer. Does Intel have an option to sync two disks. For example copy data from one disk to the other when setting up a RAID 0 on a new motherboard? Thanks.
  9. Hi, I have 2x 4GB HHD in a dynamic raid in Windows. I would like to use the Intel Raid on the motherboard. I read that if you undo the Intel Raid the data is still on the harddrive. I was wondering what would happen if I wanted to have a new Intel Raid 1 in a new computer. Would I have to reformat both drives? Thanks. David
  10. Thanks for the advice. I did reinstall Windows. I was using Windows 10 preview and went back to Windows 8.1 Pro. Everything works great now.

  12. I was initially going to get 2 R9 290X which requires a lot of power. I know my current PSU is overkill for the GTX 980s.

  14. Hi, I tested the second card by itself and it runs fine just like the first card. I have a gigabyte z97 gaming GT with the latest BIOS update. I also have a Seasonic 1250W PSU. Thanks. David
  15. Hi I have two EVGA Superoverclock GTX 980s. For some reaosn when I put the SLI cable on the cards my desktop won't boot. I'm using a Asus SLI connector. Does the connector have to be from EVGA? Thanks. I bought two cards because I have a 4k monitor and want to run everything maxed out if possible. Thanks for any advice. David
  16. Thanks for all the quick replies. They are really very helpful. I wish I could choose multiple post as resolved. I'm going to stick with my 290xs and hold out until the next generation. I think with the COD I can always lower the resolution. David
  17. That was my first thought but it would cost about $400 to make that switch.
  18. I was think the new gtx 9xx are much better design then the 290x so it might be worth switching. I'm having second thoughts now because the hassle selling my current cards. Maybe i should just stick with what I have. The game I have problems with its call of duty.
  19. Hi, does three gtx 970 compare to 2x 290x? I have a 4k monitor. Would a third 290x be overkill? Thanks. I have two Asus 290x direct current ii. I have a Seasonic 1250W so I think I could handle a third R9 290x but not sure if i would see a big performance increase. Thanks. David
  20. Thanks for the advice. Glad to hear I don't have to upgrade. I
  21. Hi, I think I asked this question but I can't find my previous post. I have a seasonic 1250X PSU, 2x r9 290X and an Haswell I7. If I add a third r9 290X will 1250 watts be enough? Thank you. David
