Hi everyone, I have recently got this problem where when I connect my laptop to my monitor using HDMI, nothing happens. It was working perfectly for the past year and all of a sudden when I plugged in my laptop to the monitor a couple of days ago there was no response. It is as if nothing is connected, and the monitor also displays "cable not connected". I am able to connect using a VGA cable though. I have encountered this problem before once but it went away on its own after a few minutes. I'll post more details below. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you. Things I have tried - Tested HDMI cable and monitor, both work with other computers - Tried connecting laptop to a TV using HDMI, same problem - Reinstalled drivers for both my Intel HD 4000 and nVidia 640m graphics - Updated drivers for both graphic cards - Updated BIOS - Completely reinstalling windows - Tried changing boot up order (turning on monitor first then laptop and vice versa) System Details Laptop model: Gigabyte U2442V CPU: Intel Core i7-3517U Memory: 2x 4GB DDR3 Storage: 128 GB SSD and 750 GB HDD Graphics: Intel HD 4000 and nVidia 640m (My laptop uses nVidia Optimus) OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Can my R9 290 support a 4K monitor with over 60Hz refresh rate?
Jadamog replied to Jadamog's topic in Graphics Cards
So you think it would be possible to have 120 Hz at 4k with a R9 290 if you use two displayports if a monitor in the future supports it? And does anyone have any idea when a 120Hz 4k monitor is going come out? -

Sapphire R9 290 driver causes desktop size to shink and enlarges curser

Thanks I will try that, for some season if I switch to a DVI cable it works. -
Hi guys, I just finished my new build which was working fine until a started updating my drivers. It seems the R9 290 driver causes my screen to shrink (so it has a massive black border around it) and my mouse curser to go huge and pixely. I'm running windows 8 64 bit and a 1080p monitor. I have made sure the display settings are set to 1080p on both the windows display software and Catalyst software but it doesn't make a difference. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks.

Hi guys, I'm thinking of getting the H440 or the 450d for my new build but I can't decide which one to get. I will be running a sapphire tri-x 290 so the thing that worries me about the H440 is that I heard its ventilation isn't that great. I'm also open to other ATX mid sized towers reccomendations that are compatible with an H100i. Thanks!

Hi guys, I'm looking for a windowed mid-sized ATX tower for my new build. I want it to have decent cable management and be compatible with an H100i, ideally that can be mounted on the front. I want it to be sleek and have a relatively low profile. Black is my preferred color choice and any noise dampening is also a plus but not necessary. I'm looking for something under $150 USD. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Hi guys, I'm building a new rig and I need to choose a motherboard. I'm planning on using an i7 4770k and a R9 290 and playing current games such as Battlefield 4. I want to be able to overclock and have good audio. Any ideas? It should probably be an ATX board. I was Looking at the Asus Maximus VII Hero, is that any good for it's price? I should mention I don't want to spend too much on it, probably no more than $215 USD. Thanks!

I have been researching which R9 290 to get for a while now and now I want to get either the Gigabyte Windforce one or the Sapphire Tri-X one but I can't decide! They are the same price in my area so price isn't a factor here. I know the Gigabyte one is OC at 1040 MHz whereas the Sapphire Tri-X is OC at 1000 MHz but does is the 40 MHz gonna make a big difference? And which one is better for over clocking. These are the factors I'm looking at in no particular order (but probably performance is the most important): 1. Performance 2. Temperatures 3. Noise 4. Overclockability. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Helping me not be an Intel/Nvidia fanboy.

I thought that was only with the first batch that were sent to early adopters. But I think all the ones that are sold to consumers have that problem fixed. Is that right? -

I see you mentioned that after market coolers for ASUS and Gigabyte for the r9 290 leave a lot to be desired. Can you please explain what's wrong with them? I am currently looking for which non reference R9 290 to get but I can't decide. I know the ASUS one has problems with its heat pipes but what's wrong with the gigabyte one? -
Can you send me a link to which one you have? because I have seen multiple GB models.
