  1. Hi everyone, Ignore the previous post since it no longer matters. Found a deal for a brand new open box MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX and I ordered that. I appreciate everyone's input. Thanks for all your help!
  2. Hi everyone, I really do appreciate all your help with figuring things out. 1. Can someone find an official mentioning for Asus PRIME B450-PLUS having flashback support? I can't really find it written anywhere. 2. Thanks for the suggestion for MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX. Doesn't look that different and at least this one has flashback. I may go with this. PS: Not planning a more powerful CPU in the next 5 years or so.
  3. Hi everyone, My old PC is finally kicking the bucket so I'm looking for something new. I'm not the biggest gamer and I just want a good stable build for day to day work and a Plex media server. I decided to go with AMD Ryzen 5 (3600) and as such I've settled on the Asus PRIME B450-PLUS motherboard. From what I looked into, I'll need a gen 2 processor to update the bios before I can use the 3600. Doable. Not fun but at least I found out in advance so I don't go mad on my first day. What I need your help and opinion with, is the RAM. I decided to go with Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 Dual Channel Kit. The motherboard says it's compatible up to 3200MHz RAM but as an OC. (Asus B450 specs for RAM >>>> 3200(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/2666/2400/2133 MHz) Will I be able to boot with the RAM sticks on the first run or do I need to borrow a lower frequency stick from someone, do some Bios configuration and then add my 3000 RAM? I would really appreciate your input on this so I know how to manage my expectations and organize my build. Thank you in advance!
  4. Hey there, 1. I really do not look at Thumbnail with a lot of interest. The content is more important. Funny ones are nice from time to time. 2. The macro was OK. I liked it but and it's wellcomed where it is good. 3. Keep with the clasics. PS: 4. Add Slick's surprised face when he herd about the S3 going bye bye
  5. Hey, Well I managed using GParted. The cmd lines didn't and wouldn't work for me since I have only 1 hdd and on that hdd I have my OS. You can't the OS from the OS UI. Thanks for the help guys and have a nice day!
  6. I mean it's not going to freeze on me? I already did a full backup on my external drive and I'm going to give it a try
  7. @ m0n5t3r[/url=http://linustechtips.com/main/member/4983-m0n5t3r]: I know about those cmd lines. I found them myself but I only have one HDD on my laptop. Can I actually use that? I only have the disk 0 and if that wipes.... what happens ?
  8. I seem to have a hard time finding a guide on how to create a GPT partition with GParted. I viewed some videos but saw nothing related to GPT. Thanks
  9. The problem is that I do not have the delete option available. All my partitions are marked as Dynamic and I only have format available under advanced options. All the other options are grayed out. And formating it and hitting next just pops up the same error. I can't continue
  10. Hello first of all, My laptop was acting up and decided to reinstall the operating system on it and decided to give Windows 8 a try but I encountered some problems... I made a bootable flash to install from and when I try to install, on the section of the install wizard when I should select my partition, I can't seem to do anything but format the partitions but not to install on them... I get the following pop-up: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed on GPT disks. Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. The partition contains one or more dynamic volumes that are not supported for installation." I did some reading and found out that I should somehow with some software convert my partition(s) in order to be able to install. Could you please explain what this is about and how? Can I only convert one partition while leaving the other 2 as they are? I currently don't have any way to save my data so I can do a full wipe. Thanks in advance
