  1. I would buy my parents a dashcam each. Both have been in accidents in the past with questionable people involved, including one where my dad in a Renault Megane touched the towbar of a land-rover at 3mph and the guy claimed whiplash and the inability to work for 3 weeks. I'm not sure of this is against the rules as it's technically two gifts, but it's what I would do. I'm also not 100% sure whether to post an Amazon US or UK (my local area) link, so I've provided both just in case I also couldn't get the exact same product on both sites, but both are dashboard cameras so id definitely be happy with either US:Amazon US Link UK:Amazon UK Link
  2. At this point, I really wish that, as OP, I could just close this thread. I started it to bring some tech news to the forum and have a place to talk about the news, not talk about how much of an Apple or Android fanboy you are. I haven't had the chance, time, or mental capacity, to trawl through every post, but I'm willing to bet that nobody prior to this post has talked about Apple becoming a Trillion Dollar company, something the Article I linked from KitGuru talks about. For shame.
  3. Apples profits have beaten those of every company that has ever existed after they posted a net profit of $53.4 billion, beating the previous record set by ExxonMobil by almost $10 billion. Apples total revenue for 2015 currently stands at $233.7 billion, with the company currently values at a staggering $750 billion. Apple, however, have downplayed this record-breaking news, and urged caution in the wake of such financial success. They pointed out that their sales of iPad devices have fallen by 20%, the lowest level since 2011, along with the disappointing uptake of the Apple Watch. Despite these setbacks, Apples total revenue for Q3 was a staggering $51 billion, and with the release of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, they sold over 48 million IPhones in the same period. 4. Yeah it does. In windowed borderless i just turn vsync off as I never go way over 60fps so tearing isn't an issue Lemme know how it goes Yeah but this isn't a difinitive "this is what you must run", more of a starting ground. Personally I like water to look good personally, which is why I have water quality on very high, but if you prefer better grass then change it up lol.
  5. Hey guys, So this is the first time I've done anything like this, but today I'm going to share the settings I use on GTA V with my EVGA GTX 970 FTW+ at 4K resolution. Components It may be the case that the CPU/Motherboard/Drives you use may affect performance at 4K moreso than at 1080p resolution, so I am going to list my PC specs as a little disclaimer: These are the parts I use, and the results I get may be affected by my parts (As Linus loves to say: Your mileage may vary). CPU: Intel core i5-3470 @ 3.8GHz* RAM: 8GB DDR3-1600 MB: Asus P8 Z77-v LK GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW+ SSD: 128gb Samsung 840 EVO (OS) HDD: WD Green 5400rpm 2TB (Everything else) Monitor: Samsung UD590 28" 4k 1ms *On Z77 boards, locked intel processors can be overclocked slightly, to a maximum of 3.8GHz on all cores, or 4.0GHz on a single core. Settings These are the settings I use on my system at 4K in GTA V. Yes, all of the advanced graphics options are turned off, but this was (or at least, should have been) expected. Screenshots (coming soon, along with some benchmarks) Did these specs work for you guys? Let me know, and if you have any suggestions then again please let me know
  6. So if I went to the max possible voltage in GPU Tweak, that would be safe?
  7. So I just received my new GTX 970 FTW+ from an RMA. I've been overclocking this thing for about an hour now and I've gotten the GPU Boost Clock to 1500MHz, and the Mem Clock to 7200MHz, at stock voltage (1.188v). All overclocking has been done in ASUS GPU Tweak. I wanna take this card further as it seems like a pretty keen overclocker, but I don't know how far to bump up the voltage as I'm pretty new to this. Most 970 reviews I've seen have kept the voltage at stock, though in Luke's OC spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmLKAgEko3SAdHFtby1jNTFvaTF2UHhaMzdMQ0FNM2c&usp=drive_web#gid=0), the Zotac AMP! Omega 970 has a stock voltage of 1.212v. I have also noticed that, in Valley Benchmark (what I am using to validate OCs), the GPU clock shown in the top right corner is at 1664MHz. Is this something I can trust (i.e. GPU Boost 2.0 working its magic) or just a glitch in Valley? Either way I'll post a screenshot below Thanks for the help guys Chris

  9. This should become a standard benchmark/test for all laptops LTT review in the future...
  10. I had thought about a smaller motherboard but I just got this one at Christmas. I've just had a look at the CM Storm Stryker and Trooper and, although they are probably a LOT bigger than my Z11, I'd love to see how well the handle works and how easy they are to carry. If they were as heavy as the Z11 but easier to carry I'd probably buy one. Thanks for all of the help btw guys, much appreciated. Also for the record, I love the 380T but getting a new motherboard as well as a new case just adds more cash to the situation
  11. It looks really nice. Found one issue though. Going rate in the UK is around £150, a little high
  12. Handle looks great but it's all 120mm inside, and no room for a top mounted rad. Great find though Handles (well, the lack of them) are a deal breaker for me. My back isn't great, and whilst holding the case by handles is just about ok, holding in awkward positions causes my back to twist and really hurts. Thanks for the help but they just won't work unfortunately.
  13. FT05 looks pretty good but the rotated motherboard is a little weird, same for the RV05 too. Do either of those have handles? I didn't think they did but maybe I'm missing something Wow, they look great, only problem is that I'd have to order the windows from the US, then pay extra shipping and possibly even customs fees
  14. It looks quite nice but yeah the military look isn't my thing. A white case is a cool idea but I'd want to buy a white motherboard and white components to match which is just more £££ Also yeah I'll be looking at multiple retailers (including those above, ebuyer, dabs, OcUK etc) for the best price
  15. All great cases but I'm not seeing any kind of handles for moving them around?
  16. Hey guys, So I've been in a love-hate relationship with my current (and 1st) case, my Zalman Z11. I love that (after I removed the side 80mm fans) it's really quiet and can house all of the fans I need, but I hate its internal layout and the fact that everything is riveted in place, as well as the fact I can't get a GPU longer than 290mm (e.g. Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 900 series cards). Something else I hate is the sheer size of the thing. I've been going to more and more LAN parties and, without a car, this thing is ridiculously hard to carry around. So with all that in mind, I'm looking for a case that is ATX form factor, has some sort of carrying handles to help portability, space for a rad at the top (thinking about upgrading my CPU and getting an AIO for OC'ing), internal customisability, a windowed side panel, good cable management options and front panel USB 3.0 ports. All for under £100 (UK). Not a lot to ask for I know... The only case I can find that has all of this is the Corsair Vengeance C70 but there are some things I just don't like about that particular case, e.g. the ammo box style side panel clips, or the fan mounts in the side panel window. If you guys know of anything else then please let me know. Thanks and have a great day Chris
  17. Somewhere between 1 and 2 (so 1.5, glad it wasn't somewhere between 3 and 4...). A statement with an apology, state the possible performance hits and when they may ocur, set up a refund period (so say you have 2 months from now to register a refund, then 1 month from the day you register the return to get the card to nvidia), and give everyone who doesn't do a refund a steam game or something. EDIT: $30 or equivalent steam voucher could be a route for nvidia if they want to give a game out
  18. I have a question (and don't just answer this in a certain way because you're butthurt or whatever, take everything into account and give a truthful answer, with reason). Lets say the card was marketed correctly, with less ROPs and L2 cache, and lets say the card stated it had 3.5GB GDDR5 memory, for the same price (so MSRP = $329), and the only options for 4gb memory are an r9 290x or a GTX 980. Would you have not bought the GTX 970 and gone for one of those cards? Or would you have waited for the 380x? Or would you have bought the GTX 970 anyway? Personally, I game at 1080p, maybe 1440p in the future, so the GTX 970 with 3.5gb memory is fine for me. (Just to clarify: The card still has 4gb memory, it's just slower accessing the final 512mb which I think most people would never use/notice anyway)
  19. I bit the bullet and just bought the EVGA card. The 5 year warranty won me over more than anything else, hoping to get some seriously good overclocking done when I get the card on Tuesday, hoping for something at least average in the silicone lottery! Thanks for all of the help guys, hopefully this post will help somebody else looking for a 970
  20. My current card (Sapphire r9 280x) doesn't have a backplate, and has a freaking blue PCB, and has never really bothered me. If it does trhough, I could always buy a backplate in the future from EVGA themselves (if installing it doesn't void the warranty).
  21. Just noticed a small downside on the GALAX card, it only has a 2 year warranty. MSI card has a 3 year warranty, and the EVGA card a whopping 5 years! Palit card also has 2 years
  22. @Ripull @Hydra guys, please no bickering lol. All suggestions are welcomed and everyone is entitled to an opinion!
  23. It didn't look particularly good on the pics I saw (but it is gold... ooh SHINY!!!). It's quite a bit cheaper than the other options though. The EVGA one is the one I seem to be leaning towards but I like the look of the GALAX one posted a second ago
  24. Wow, great results in those tests. I am always a little sketchy with reviews though as there are a lot of variables (e.g. could be a heavily binned chip). I also noticed that the EVGA card wasn't tested with the GALAX card. Definitely being added to the list though Colour scheme doesn't bother me too much tbh. I'm tempted for a change anyway with colour, and if the red of the MSI card bothers me so much I may just swap all of my blue LED fans for red ones
