DuncanMT's Achievements

  1. I have a 970 STRIX but I have always wanted to try a AMD graphics card, especially now that Polaris is getting such good rep. Oh and better DOOM performance with Vulcan.
  2. Rig name: Uhhh..... the pc that I uhhh..... use? Cpu: Intel Core i5 3570k Overclocked to 4.2 Ghz Gpu: GTX 970 STRIX Ram: 3x4GB of DDR3 of some kind, Patriot Viper or something, cant use all 4 because my CPU cooler is too big. Score: 6.6 High
  3. I just love how small and portable it is while still having beefy enough hardware for games.
  4. That's an alright speed, but considering I am supposed to be getting TalkTalk Super Fast Fiber which has an acceptable range of 27 - 38 Mb/s according to technical support its still poor. I bet if I call them they will direct me to a TalkTalk optimized speed test again and say I have 30 Mb/s.
  5. Introduction(Ignore if TL;DR) Hi everyone, I recently had a terrible experience with my broadband provider and the stability of the connection. A few dropouts and constant fluctuations in speed every second so in games I was constantly rubber-banding. Its finally all fixed but during the process I noticed that my computer that is connected with WiFi (it has to be, its to far for cables and all the sockets near the router are used up with home plugs for other devices) got a substantially lower rating in speed tests than the one that was connected through the wall plug. The point is I have decided that I may want to upgrade my router and WiFi dongle on my computer, maybe to wireless AC? The problem is my broadband provider is TalkTalk(in the UK) and I have their super-fast fiber service. What I want to know is which routers support this and how do I find out from their specifications. The router I currently have is the TalkTalk Super Router HG635 and is connection to the main outlet in my home using a grey DSL cable currently. I also have a BT Openreach box somewhere that I was told to remove by TalkTalk. They said that it isn't necessary now that I have the super router. I have been looking at these products for my upgrade. http://www.amazon.com/RT-AC66U-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC1750-Gigabit-Router/dp/B008ABOJKS%3Fpsc%3D1%26SubscriptionId%3D02B7Y8VZ2ZRE5MXHPMR2%26tag%3Dbestcoverycom-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB008ABOJKS http://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-A6210-100PES-AC1200-802-11AC-Adapter/dp/B00OT586RQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446649112&sr=8-1&keywords=wireless+ac+dongle Are these good choices? If yes/no, why? Is it even worth upgrading? Should I already know all this as a student studying Computer Science? Well, I am sure you will tell me soon enough
  6. My favourite is the headphones. They just look so darn premium, like jeeze.

  8. Now I wish there was a delete topic button, I can't belive this but I went and messed around after making the above post and now it works fine..... bloody windows 8.1.....
  9. I recently reinstalled windows 8.1 due to the fact that my computer was f*cked to the point I couldn't uninstall Nvidia drivers to make an update without getting BSOD but now everything else seems fine except that now when my computer goes to sleep the monitor does not come back on on wake up. I have looked at most of the other help posts for the same problem on-line but reinstalling the drivers, turning off hybrid sleep , turning off the turning off the monitor option in power options did not work. Dunno what else to do so I came here. 10. Just realized I cant re-install windows because my only USB does not work.
  11. I'm beginning to think I should just re-install windows, jeez I cant wait for the Linux revolution.
  12. Tried most of that stuff, all I managed to achieve was turning off my USB keyboard and mouse. The problem still persists. When I try to install a driver for the device it says "Windows was unable to install you Mass Storage Device Windows could not find driver software for your device" This is wrong, it found and installed the driver automatically on all other PC I tired it on. Trying to install the driver is also the only thing the troubleshooter did and still failed.
  13. PC Specs were on my profile: CPU Intel Core i5-3570K Motherboard Asus P8Z77-V LX RAM 4X4GB Patriot Viper Memory GPU MSI GTX 670, Asus Strix 970 Case Coolermaster Case Storage Samsung 840 Pro 128GB PSU OCZ 750W ZS series PSU It is a USB 3.0 drive and I have tired all USB ports on my PC With the same result.
  14. Recently my USB drive just stopped showing up on my PC at all, after some testing it appears it works on all other PCs BUT mine. The only way it is even visible on my PC is in the device manager where it come up as mass storage device under other. It does not show up in disk management and does not get picked up by common disk restore tools. I have gotten the information off of it by uploading the contents to drop-box from another PC so I don't need to worry about loosing data, I just want a working USB drive back. I have tried uninstalling the device from the device manager but upon connecting it just comes up with "mass storage device" again. I have also formatted the drive while on another PC and still get the same results. In conclusion, the error is on my PCs side and I have no idea what it could be.
  15. I brought my USB drive home from UNI after completing a piece of programming, plug in in and it doesn't show up. I check the Device manager and disk manager, It is not showing up in Disk manager and in device manager it looks like the attached image. The device driver is not installing but the computer still recognises it as a "Mass storage device". I need this for my coursework that is due on Monday HALP PLZ!
