  1. More specifically what type of cooler design is best? i.e. 3 fans Shroud/open
  2. Hi, I'm looking to buy a graphics card (770) that has a good cooler on it. I want it to perform well (i.e. good temps), but also be nice and quiet when idle. Which type of cooler/brand would you guys recommend. BTW size is not an issue. Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks everyone! Great help.
  4. Hi, Would it be ok to use my reset button as a power button putting the reset switch wires into the power button port on the mobo? This is because my power button has broken. Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi, Which case size would be the most suitable? It needs to fit a 160mm air cpu cooler; 2 3.5" hard drives; 1 2.5" ssd, a single graphics card (amd 7870). That is all; it doesn't need to fit water cooling or any other pci cards, nor will it in the future. Ideally I would like a smaller case since it takes up less space. Would cooling be better in a smaller or larger case? The case also needs to be fairly quiet; i.e. decent sound proofing. Thanks in advance.
  6. Sharkoon silent eagles; if you want a quiet build for cheap
  7. I think the osd is quite good. It uses touch sensitive buttons that work quite well (good enough) and there are plenty of options and preset modes like movie, gaming... You can also select two preset modes on a sort of speed dial: you then just touch any button to activate the osd then touch the button under the preset mode you want; it's very easy and quick. Personally I have the sRGB and reader modes on 'speed dial" and switch between the two: sRGB for movies/games; reader for everything else. I haven't ever had any eye fatigue problems on reader mode . However I would note that everyone's eyes are different and so I would recommend trying out the monitor yourself just to make sure. Hope this helps
  8. Hi, Regarding the Dell U2414h I can definitely vouch for it. I bought it a few months ago and the accurate colours look fantastic when gaming or watch movies. However when browsing the web or using word documents I put it on to "reader" mode, which dims the screen and makes it much more pleasant to use with white backgrounds (i.e. less eye strain). Also it only takes two touches of the on screen buttons to switch from srgb (colour accuracy) mode to reader mode due to their preset menu system. I love it! Also the bezel is really slim; so good for multi monitor setups Sorry but I don't know much about PWM with monitors so I can comment on that but I know that this dell monitor is fine for me. Hope this helps.
  9. Thanks, I thought so but I wanted to check.
  10. Hi, The two wires that go to the power button switch have come loose. Is it ok to turn my computer on/off by simply touching these two wires together? Will it cause any damage? Thanks
  11. Hi, I have the Gigabyte B85-HD3 mobo and I want to run 3 case fans off of the sys fan 3 header. The fans are: sharkoon silent eagle 1000, which use 1.1W each. How many Watts can the header take? I can't find the information.
  12. you mean the fan needs 3 pins?
  13. Hi, I have just bought the sharkoon silent eagle 1000 fans. It has a 3 pin fan connector but only 1 wire going into a pin, the other two pins don't have wires going into them. When I plug it into my mobo the fan doesn't turn on and I can't control the speed. The fan only works when plugged into a 4 pin molex connector; then the motherboard picks up the speed of the fan, but that's it. Does this mean that I can't power/control the fan via the mobo. *My mobo can control 3 pin fans since I have another fan powered + controlled off of the mobo, but this fan has 3 wires going into the 3 pin header. Thanks in advance.
  14. Thanks. That's a good point actually, it probably would transfer the vibrations to the side panel; defeating the whole point of a silent cpu cooler.
