I've seen some badass reviews and awesome performance charts for the 970, with a price cheaper than the r9 290. I was planning on the 290, but should i get the 970 instead? Are these performance charts to be believed?

Some have told me you can and others said you can't. What's the truth?

I usually play at 1080 with high settings, but on some games I can bring it up to 1440 without much impact. So I want to buy a monitor where I can play both, but will I have a problem playing at 1080 on a 1440 monitor?

But costs more money, which doesn't grow on trees

How does that make any sense?

I want a GPU that will do the standard 1080p 60fps with max settings (Or at least very high settings) And I can't decide between these cards. The 280x and 770 are around 100 dollars cheaper than the 290 or 780, but I don't know how well they perform on the newest games and how they will do in the future. Which of the four would you recommend?

I'm using a R9 290 and i5-4690k.

I don't have a budget only for my cooler, that would be too complex and a tad silly. I'm just over $1600, and I'm cutting cost where I can.
