  1. OH HEY THATS ANOTHER THING! Painting. Im thinking of using some plastidip as its cheap and looks freaking amazing for its cost haha. Also its as easy as pealing it off if I want to change the color so I will have plenty of opportunities to test colors. and will do ;P
  2. This is very true. The simple box would of had great airflow. The current design would also have great airflow with all fans having a direct airsorce from the outside of the case. EX: The gpu will sit upside down with the fan facing the outside of the case and will have a dedicated fan "port? lol" to suck air into and then would expel it out the back like any other case. I'm trying to design it to have every fan pushing or pulling air directly in or out of the case in as fast and efficient manor as possible. The cpu cooler would be right against the case in the current setup and the psu would be like the gpu aswell But even designing it like that I want to also make it pretty. A effective case is one thing and really thats all im going for right now, but the look is important too. its goota be purty. Edit: also this would keep a negative airpressure for minimal to almost no dust build up :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD which is great because taking the thing apart to clean it would be a pain in the ass. not a problem dont worry about it haha
  3. dont worry not done yet haha. Its going to be pretty once im done. Ima take a while to test out a lots of different configurations. I just got access to a different schools 3d printer which is a bit bigger then my current schools and ima be printing out some scale models of different designs for a while working to find the best one. I'll probably upload a new design even week or so and poll it or something of the likes. Just plan on seeing a lot of different styles ;3 Also do note that there are still going to be flat sides yes (maybe you never know). But 1: there is a limit to the technology that i have access to. 2. I have to think about cost, this is coming out of me and my teachers own pocket. we are going to try to talk to the school's about it and see if they will pay for the costs of the printing as it can be used to help teach his class about 3d printing as we only just got the 3d printers 1 almost 2 years ago. Wow that thing looks hideous imo. But mine is not much more then a box with a curved side atm so I have no room to speak haha As I said before there are going to be a lot of different changes. Im also looking at maybe doing something kinda like the apple trashcan. I think that might be a posibility (i could do something stupid and make some hipster square trashcan case >.>)...... I also packed on time, theres a lot im doing currently and this is pretty high up there along with school and stuff. But im still going to try to put out a bunch of designs to see which looks the best. So theres that Edit: also im thinking heavily about taking the psu out of its housing and mounting it on the case itself. Doing that will save a lot of space but im unsure. Does anyone know if this would have any negative consequences by doing so?
  4. Just a quick render of the new case so far, still lots and lots to do. Thinking of adding a butt ton of styling and a support foot in the back to raise the case off the ground a couple of inches for the power cord clearance. Fan slot placement is temporaryish until the parts are ordered which should hopefully be soon. What do you guys think about adding some kind of logo to the flat back side? Or maybe a window, not even sure at this point. Thats it for now though, leave your feedback because its all welcome
  5. Uploaded a quick screen shot of the new design I might be able to pump out some fast renders later, being a highschool student I do have school so we will see how much time I have lol.
  6. The cube was (like I stated in the comment above you) just the base chassis to something I would later build off of. I am going for as small and compact as I can and that design still wasnt peaking my interest you could say. Then I figured out another way to put the parts together to make them smaller, so the cube you see up there is nonexistent anymore. I have managed to shrink it all yet again into a more organic shape sort of like things you have done. I'm currently working on the design right now so i'll be able to show you in a short while. (Honestly didnt read your whole thing and i just noticed you talked about organic shapes, weird lol )
  7. No offence taken Right now the goal of this is to get to be as small as possible. This is not at all the final design dont worry haha. Think of it as just the chassis of the case right now, all the flashy bits will be added on later. Its more of a predesign Im looking to maybe even thin it out more. Im going to be looking into a whole bunch of things its not at all something thats going to be rushed. But thanks for your input Also to answer the question of why 3d print it, well I like a challenge, this challenge would be printing it out in parts and then putting it back together with out it looking like crap. (another reason why its merely a box atm Edit: Actually you just gave me a wonderful Idea sir, thank you
  8. Please define "dont go well together"? Also Not sure if you read or not, this case in total is going to be around 8in square and then 6ish inches tall. My choices are a bit limited
  9. So starting this off with the fact that yes I have started this project several times and they all fell through sadly. But here I am my senior year and the project finally has solid ground to start working off of. The whole purpose of this is to just do something crazy and new. Something not many people can do, or have done. I have seen parts printed off then used to put a case together using acrylic but not a fully 3d printed case. So thats what i'm doing as crazy as it is. 10. *uses college fund to buy the new gt80 and says its for drafting* Honestly that's probably what i'm going to do. Even if the damn thing is hardly portable I have been looking at it for a while now. Will probably buy early next year but as everyone has stated before. RIP BATTERY! lol Also i'm curious as to portable vr capabilities. Can you imagine putting the laptop in a backpack then mounting a camera on a vr headset along with some custom programing. You would have a real life game! someone needs to make it happen.
  11. Also the way these work is it uses super cooled magnets on top of another row of magnets at least that what i know about that kinda stuff. You wouldn't be able to ride it anywhere right? Because there arnt magnets in the ground...?
  12. I'm honestly thrown off by them putting in molex powered hdd's that caught me off guard big time lol. But I love the bottom one, the table is meh. I'd rather make one myself. Edit: Also that is a very bulky fan splitter and it doesn't look to have pwm support D:
  13. "in case" ahhh I see what you did there ;3 ........... yup
