  1. Hi friends, I am trying to help my brother troubleshoot so imagine I am him thanks, Just this Christmas I got a killer deal on a 4k TV to add to my setup. Runs pretty hecking great except for one problem. If I switch to it as an output (in Windows by switching to it as a display input) either with my other monitors or by itself at any point in a power cycle my keyboard will lag in any application or state of use. For example after I switch to the display it will remember and queue every key press but only input to the program/OS every ~.5 seconds. It doesn't matter if I then disable the input, it continues to lag until I restart my PC. I don't experience any mouse or gamepad lag at all, so It's just very confusing. I have also made sure that I have the correct HDMI cable that can do 4k at 60Hz. So far I have tried running in safemode, doing a clean re-install of my graphics drivers, running just with the TV plugged into the graphics card, and am at a loss of what else to do. Here is a comprehensive part list: CPU: Intel - Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus - Z170-E ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Memory: Crucial - Ballistix Sport LT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (x2) Storage: Crucial - BX200 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Storage: WD - Blue 4TB 3.5" 5200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition Video Card Case: NZXT - S340 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: EVGA - 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link - TL-WN881ND PCI-Express x1 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter Case Fan: Corsair - Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 67.8 CFM 140mm Fan Monitor: Acer - G246HLAbd 24.0" 1920x1080 60Hz Monitor Monitor: Acer - GN246HL 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz Monitor TV: Vizio E-Series E55-E2 55.0" Keyboard: G.Skill - RIPJAWS KM780R Wired Gaming Keyboard Mouse: Corsair - M65 PRO RGB FPS Wired Optical Mouse Speakers: Logitech - Z200 0W 2ch Speakers Anything helps
  2. I've dealt pretty closely with anxiety in the past few years, and what Raskolnikov said really kind of hit the nail on the head for what worked for me. I still chat with friends about my experiences and things that are currently bothering me, but my biggest help was finding a professional counselor and some drugs that helped. It won't come quick, It took me about 8 prescriptions and 4 counselors to find what worked for me. As for right now (or if that isn't really an option), it boils down to something called 'self talk' and immediate damage control. When you find yourself really starting to breakdown, take yourself somewhere calm. Think of your favorite place in the whole wide world and imagine yourself there. Take deep breaths. In through the nose, and out through the mouth. Make em slow, deep, and meaningful. After you've calmed down you then worry about what got you there. Here is a good link I found explaining what self talk is and how learning to control it can help: http://au.reachout.com/what-is-self-talk . Write down what you hear yourself think, write down what the other side would be, then stick with the good. Like I said man, I've dealt with this pretty closely, so feel free to keep replying or DM me or whatever and I'll see if I can help. You've got great potential and worth my dude.
  3. Hmm, that is interesting. My ambient is right now around 23-24c, and still the idle sits in the mid to low 30s. I did hop into the BIOS and turn off all CPU fan control and set it to a constant 100%, and it seemed to do absolutely nothing one way or the other in terms of temps in different workloads.
  4. I suppose saying 100% is a bit too much, I just hadn't installed Corsair Link yet, and I wasn't used to how loud the stock fans are compared to my previous fans. I also definitely plugged the fans into the pump, not my motherboard. According to CL, under load the coolant temp gets up to just under 40c with CPU temps at around 75-80, and at idle the coolant is at around 34c, with CPU at around 55. Flashed to the newest BIOS (v1.4-v1.5 [MSI Z270 SLI]), and no dice, sadly.
  5. So would the next step be picking up some different thermal compound? Are there any other things I can do to confirm the AIO is also working?
  6. I booted up Prime95 and had it run on the Max Heat option again for a few minutes, and then felt the radiator while it was still running. It definitely felt warm, but it wasn't so hot I had to pull my hand off of it. I have my fans in Pull configuration, and when I put my hand on the outflow of the fans, the air is pretty warm, so I think it is for sure removing at least some heat from the rad, however if the CPU is at 90c for about 5 minutes, and the rad can still be touched, is that the way it's supposed to work? Just to confirm, would this mean that the actual CPU just isn't removing heat from itself?
  7. So for hecks and giggles I grabbed my buddy's Hyper 212 EVO, and some Arctic Silver 5 he had laying around, and its the same story with that heatsink as well, except everything is +8c. I idle at around 50c on both coolers. I put the AIO back on with Arctic Silver 5 and the temps didn't change at all. I think I felt water moving in the tubing, if the pump were bad, would I see progressively higher and higher temps the longer the PC were on?
  8. Hey guys, I just installed my new CPU and AIO cooler, and I was wondering if these kinds of temps were normal. I want to overclock, but I'd like to be sure that this is normal before I do. (to confirm my temperatures I am using both MSI Afterburner and CPUID HWMonitor, and they are both giving the same readings) So with no overclock on the CPU currently, when I run games and such, it sits at about 70c, and when I export a video from Premiere Pro (h.264, 1080p, 5.1 depth) I get about 78c. If I try Prime95 on the maximum heat option, I get around 92c, and my fans and such all ramp up to max. Is this normal with an AIO? Again, remember I have no overclock on the CPU at all currently, in fact I haven't even touched any of the settings in my BIOS yet. If this is normal, should I still overclock? If not, how should I go about fixing it? EDIT: So for hecks and giggles I grabbed my buddy's Hyper 212 EVO, and some Arctic Silver 5 he had laying around, and its the same story with that heatsink as well, except everything is +8c. I idle at around 50c on both coolers. I put the AIO back on with Arctic Silver 5 and the temps didn't change at all.
  9. What is that CPU's clock? EDIT NVM I just re-read your comment. I see. Its probably a CPU bottleneck, as my CPU caps out at 3.6GHz. I'll just start jonesing for an upgrade in the future. Thanks man.
  10. So it is a CPU bottleneck? Darn. Alright thanks for the second opinion.
  11. 144Hz. And I know its weird if your friend gets 200, but I've seen it myself. He has the exact same card as I do, and I've sat right next to him to show me his settings and fps because at first I didn't believe it as well.
  12. Right, I have it set to its max, which is 300.
  13. But why would I be getting this huge (over 1/2) hit to my fps? I'd much prefer to play at higher settings at these fps, just like my friend who can. Obviously something is wrong, unless he is secretly running something like a titan xp.
  14. Right, like I said, he has the same settings as I do (everything on lowest, 100% render scale, and only textures maxed[so not everything maxed]) and gets 300 fps in game.
  15. I couldn't get a print screen of both task manager and overwatch (taskmanager was displaying on top of overwatch) but see attached pic. When I took that picture I was getting 120 FPS.
  16. But then why is a friend of mine who's running a locked Kaby lake i5 and a 1070 be getting a constant 300 fps in the same games as I am?
  17. Hey guys, so I just upgraded from a GTX 760 to a GTX 1070, and I noticed it wasn't performing anywhere near as well as my friends who have the same card. I have done some research and I think it may be an issue with my CPU. Here are my specs: Intel i5 4670 (non-K) 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 EVGA GTX 1070 EVGA 750W Gold PSU So the reason I think it may be with my CPU is in the game Overwatch, on almost lowest settings (1080p, render scale 100%, no anti-aliasing, just textures at max) I get around 120-150 FPS in game. I opened MSi Afterburner and had it track for a game, and it graphed my card usage at 50%(see attached picture), and CPU usage at 100% for the time I was playing. I just don't know what steps to take. I'd love to buy a new CPU, but I just don't have the money for a CPU, RAM, and Motherboard upgrade.
  18. Of all of the products that are being given away, I like the mousepad the most! My friend recently got a mousepad similar to the one they sell, and I loved it! I may actually buy it anyway even if I don't win. Anyway, good luck all!
  19. Oh how I would love to have a streaming PC! Whenever I want to play games on my TV, I have to haul my tower out to my living room. Good luck to all those who have entered! (if I have already posted a comment, please disregard both of them. I wasn't sure my last one went through, so I posted again.)
  20. What would I do with it? Well, I am a content creator, and I would use it to cut those render times!
  21. I have been considering the Corsair K70 (non RGB) Keyboard for a while now, and am pretty much set, but then I heard about the lighting problems. Does this problem still exist? A lot of the topics and posts about it are from a year or two ago, so I was thinking that maybe it wasn't a problem anymore. My main reason for wanting a K70 was because it has adjustable, per-key lighting, and has dedicated media keys. It also has the switches I want (MX Blues), but a lot of keyboards have that. So if any other similarly priced keyboards have those features that you guys can reccomend, that would be great. Thanks
  22. Well, thank you for your help. I might mess around with a few other updates if I get desperate. Thanks.
  23. I would, but it's my understanding that my only other full length PCI-E slot will only run at 4x. Sure that would be fine, but Nvidia cards won't run at anything less than 8x.
  24. Nope. No Windows Updates available. Darn. It updated when I restarted after I updated, but all but one of them were just security updates. The update that wasn't a security update: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2952664 It doesn't seem like this update would affect the graphics drivers. Congrats on your 10,000th post, BTW!
