  1. Buy a new PSU if it doesn't fix it, just return it then RMA the GPU
  2. Not all all 100% CPU loads are the same. Small fft loads from prime 95 are more intensive and force the CPU to draw more voltage than any cpu rendering. In addition, it's not the 212 Evo's fault your temps are high, add more airflow to the case, it'll lower your temps. Aftermarket 290's have been on sale for as low as $220 in the last month and a half. (in the USA)
  3. It's pretty good for graphical stability. And I hate the damn demo video that takes for ever which makes me wanna buy it
  4. Step 1: Don't overclock a 4790k - you'll never see prime 95 loads anywhere else Step 2: reference 290s aren't worth 200. add an extra intake fan and leave it as is. or sell the 290 and buy and aftermarket one for the same price
  5. If I had to guess, probably Tegra X1 based systems so, Shield Tablet, Shield TV, and other systems running the X1
  6. One could easily deduce you support Bernie Sanders by your comments, but that's not the point. What I really want to know is what 'horrible crimes' could i commit with a drone? That I couldn't already commit? Remember, when people say drones, they mean quad-copters. However, you could call an RC plane or helicopter the same thing as a 'drone'. What's a downside of it? One, the rules are only enforceable by the feds, so unless the FBI show's up, no one gives a shit. Two, I can just not register it and do whatever the hell I want anyways, or I can just scratch the sticker off with the registration info. Three, I could just put incorrect information down on the registration and they'll never figure out who I am. Four, it'd likely just be abused, such as the following example. For example, lets say Joe is flying his quad-copter in his small suburban backyard. The wind blows and causes Joe's drone to clip a tree and it crashes in a neighbor down the street's yard. However, after hearing about the NSA and the sensationalized topics on the news about 'drones', said neighbor is delusional when it comes to drones. Not particularly the neighbors fault, just mostly misinformation from the media. However, said neighbor now thinks said drone was just hovering outside their window spying on them when it happened to crash. Thanks to a tag, Joe's getting sued and has to register as a sex offender. The claim may be bullshit, but Joe can't disprove it and a jury would side with the 'poor neighbor being spied on'. Now Joe is screwed for life. TLDR: As an RC plane/heli enthusiast, There's nothing I could do now that I couldn't have done 5 years ago before people even heard the word drone (aka quad-copter not military predator planes). As such, a registration system is pointless.
  7. I agree, Fallout runs fairly well on my 390x but despite AMD claiming they 'fixed' the compass issue in the driver patch-notes, it's still broken. However there is a hot-fix someone made that you can download.
  8. I would agree, the 'it looks like re branded skyrim' claims are unfounded IMHO.
  9. The Cold War was the cold war. If your name was Russia or America you were doing everything you could to make sure the other guy didn't take over the entire world or destroy you. Not saying it was right, it's just what happened. I personally don't agree with such large scale international 'meddling' but really, where there is a power vacuum in the world someone's gonna take over. Whether it be American backed 'Freedom fighters' (not really for freedom) or a crazy dictator from the Russians. Both have the same outcome, neither of which is good. I'm no Chinese expert but, regardless of whether you label it right or left, it's just Totalitarian Extremism. China has hit a bit of a turning point. They're wealthier and their country is drastically changing. However, they need to maintain control in a modern age. Having a scoring system is their way of using modern technology to enforce strict nationalism and idealism on their people. Even if it was 'transparent' we all know it'd be a load off bull anyways, they have no incentive to tell the truth. Remember as far as the government is concerned, Tienanmen Square was 'a group of rebels were attempting to overthrow the government and the military had to step in for the safety of the people'. TLDR: China has to control it's people and want's to keep them from being influenced by the west. They can due this through modern technology and restrict jobs and what not to motivate people to follow their every ideal.
  10. Nope, just communism. No better way to ensure control of people by tricking them into reporting their relatives, friends, and neighbors who don't follow every rule for 'the greater good of society'.
  11. Good grief, every first world country everywhere spies on everyone whether they know it or not. On the bright side in the US, there's a high standard of living and excellent health care in contrast to Mexico which is largely run by cartels and people live off a 1/10th as much. And good luck getting as quality healthcare if you're sick there. Not to bash you but, when you've visited and lived in a shit hole before, you realize how much you took everything for granted back home. I have a several thousand invested into playing video games (entirely unnecessary for living), I have a nice car, I can go to the doctor whenever I want thanks to expensive health insurance, and I go to an excellent University. However, these people walk for a week through the jungle just to see a traveling dentist and hope he can fix their tooth pain they've been having for years and they have nothing to stop the pain. And by the time they get there, their feet are raw and bleeding because they have no shoes. No country is perfect but be grateful for what you have, it's the least you can do.
  12. Hah! for you to think it'd be better in Canada or Mexico shows your naivety. Go read some world news about mexico and tell me you still want to live there.
  13. Use the Intel side, or watch a you tube video of how to install. It's very simple
  14. Interesting, That game takes a lot of power to push... Wish it was optimized better. Memory clock makes a huge difference. That's why 390's are so much faster than 290's even when the core clock is the same. 290's with Hynix memory are much better than Elpida based cards because they OC worlds better.
  15. Got one of these not to long ago and it's absolutely excellent. Best CPU cooler there is. Getting temps better than my 240mm AIO and it's way quieter
  16. At what? 15 fps 1080p? With godrays on ultra and shadows on ultra there is no way in hell a 750ti can handle that pleasantly.
  17. I RMA'ed mine without a receipt and I bought it second hand from a miner. However, I remember they were very thorough with their test results and they charge you for shipping back if it's not broken so I wouldn't. Given the card has been out for over 2 years now, you'd probably need a receipt.
  18. You're in luck my friend because, I once had a reference 290 and now I have an MSI 390x! You're even more in luck because I have some benchmarks of my system with a 390x and with a reference 290. First, here's some Firestrike benchmarks: http://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/2193400/fs/5115729/fs/6746375 MSI R9 390x: 11,160 Reference 290 (default fan profile): 8669 Reference 290 (Fixed highspeed fan to prevent throttling): 9012 I'm not gonna hammer on noise because we both know how loud the 290 reference is but I will say the following for the MSI 390x. This is a quiet mother f**ker. If the GPU is below 60 the fans turn off entirely which will basically be anytime you're just browsing the web and what not (provided you're using a single monitor). In non triple-A titles it's really quiet and I like to turn on frame rate control to cap the fps at 120 or so just to keep it from going balls to the wall doing 300 fps for no reason. Synthetic benchmarks will make it slightly audible but it's certainly not bad at all. Mind you it is a beefy 2.5 slot card. Performance: destroys everything I've played at 1080p maxed out. Is it noticeable from the 290 change? I can tell the lows are higher than before by a significant margin, and it's smooth as can be. Athetics: Cooler looks good and the card feels really solid and of the highest quality. While you could ghetto rig an HG10, I'd say it's worth it to trade cards. Sell the 290 and buy and MSI or Sapphire 390x A good in depth review: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_radeon_r9_390x_gaming_8g_oc_review,27.html TLDR: It's worlds better than a 290 and will have a longer life due to it's lower temps Also, I RMA'ed my reference XFX 290 and they sent me a DD model back. EDIT: this was early fall 2014
  19. My rig specs are in my signature below. My current PSU works great with the one main issue that the fan's bearing has started to go and it makes a grinding noise that isn't that loud but bothers me when I'm studying at school. Ideally I'd like a high-quality PSU that has a fan less mode that doesn't run the fans at idle so I can spare my ears at school when studying. Thanks so much in advance!
  20. Yeah that's how it works out, I think this may be a lost cause... Thanks Gigabyte... Maybe I'll shoot them a support ticket tomorrow asking them if they know what to do lol
  21. Both the Kingston and Patriot memory I have natively run at 1600 MHz. Does which slot matter? In what the board labels as slot 1 and 2 I put the patriot and 3,4 had the Kingston in it.
