  1. Would love to see collaboration with AudioScienceReview (ASR) on this subject! Their Youtube channel is below. https://youtube.com/channel/UCWp1NY1KXGwcOh1RxKp_-FA
  2. I have read the following great discussions (https://linustechtips.com/topic/667332-guide-the-basics-of-backing-up/ and https://linustechtips.com/topic/810364-guide-choosing-the-right-backup-methods/), but I would love to have some more guidance on the topic. At the moment, I would like to create a backup plan for multiple PCs and laptops around the house. There are some requirements, so hopefully someone can provide me some ideas on where to start. 1. Follow 3-2-1 rule, or preferably 3-2-2 2. At least 1 backup is immutable. For now, my plan is like this. 1. Having 1 external drive to manually backup on-site. 2. Having 1 TrueNas server to automatically backup on-site. 3. The NAS is synced with Google Drive. 4. Data on devices are automatically synced with One Drive. Now, how can I achieve an immutable state on cloud and how can i automatically backup data on NAS? IIRC, Linus said something like everyone must always work on NAS server, not their local storage to achieve this. Is it correct?
  3. I'm kinda surprised when you say it is a standard on a consumer board, I have no clue tbh. It's going to be in my OPNsense build + potentially a homelab. I would love if anyone can check if there bios has this option and post a screenshot with bios version here too.
  4. Hi all. I would like to have some suggestions on a B450/X470/B550/X570 with "Restore on AC/Power Loss" function (or the same one but with different name). It must be a non-sever board (e.g: not X570D4U). The cheaper the better, but any suggestion is appreciated. Thank you.
  5. Actually, I'm looking at them, you did make a very good suggestion. For now, I haven't seen any splitter that supports my purpose, but I'm still looking around. And yes, it only splits channel without any form of processing, but by saying "handling", I mean whether it can run or not. For example, trying to passthrough 5.1 content over a usb to optical which only supports up to 2.0, it certainly won't work. The same happens when you try to passthrough/split-channel DTS content on Dolby-only splitter. That's what I meant.
  6. Actually, what I mentioned was not analog degradation, it was about stream handling capability. For example, can the extractor handle 5.1 properly? Can it handle and passthrough encoded format? Can it handle sample rate and so on? And as you said, I have to consider video passthrough capability too. Tbh, can I hear the differences in sound quality, or see the visual differences? At least with my soundbar and monitor, I doubt that. It's just I'm picky about making my gears run at full potential.
  7. Didn't think about this, I will look into that. My guess is it won't work because the splitter stuff cannot preserve the stream quality, both audio and visual wise.
  8. Because I want to bitstream the 5.1/7.1 content, only hdmi out on my laptop will work, while the others only support stereo.
  9. Just a note though, not only DAC but also the AMP section. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right now, I'm using Laptop -> soundbar (recognized as a second display). I've looked over all price range and still can't find any. My guess is I can go Laptop -> monitor -> soundbar if the monitor has passthrough/daisy-chain function, and I think it should work too. However, as I mostly bitstream my surround audio via hdmi, going the mentioned route void this ability. I already have a dedicated audio setup and there are a lot of ways for me to get audio without the need of ARC, but they all have the limitation as stated.
  10. Does anyone know a monitor which support HDMI In with ARC (any size is fine, I don't care about other features)? My plan is to use it with the following setup: Laptop -> soundbar -> monitor. I've been looking around a lot but still seeing no sign of a monitor which support ARC. Or should I go for TV route instead?
