You play in a higher resolution than 1080p

You play at a higher resolution than 1440p

The higher the resolution, the less CPU power it requires, since GPU can only delivers less frames since high resolution is more demanding...

So you will be fine at your resolution. Unless you want that extra 10%frames (around that most likely) you should be fine with this CPU.

Does it matter if there is so called bottlenecking as long as you get frame rates you can enjoy.

OP's is one gen older, it is Broadwell.

Yes definitely bottlenecked. Linus said it in his last review video.

Edit: he said that if you don't pair it with the most high end Gaming cpu you might be leaving a lot of performance on the table.

We both have cpus from the same gen although yours is much more powerful than my 6700k we still lag behind.

You ordered it already, so use it and monitor CPU and GPU usage and let us know !

At that resolution it should be fine, you will get a bit less FPS than newest i7/i9 but that is normal. Once you see your results just compare to some youtube benchmarks for same gpu with a 10900k

    Cheers
