  1. Funny enough, yes: First, on each side above the fans are two screws that are trapped by springs. Unscrew all 4 until they are completely loose in their springs. Next, starting on the sides use either a guitar pick style wedge or a plastic pry bar to separate the top lid. The seam for this is the seam that is a quarter inch down from the top. Once the top is off, you should see a hole in the center of the top. There is a screw down there, go ahead and take that one out. Also, near the back you should see a PCB that is held in place with a platic lever. Unplug that and carefully with your plastic pry bar, pull back the plastic tab that is holding it in place and remove the PCB. Under that PCB is another screw. Go ahead and remove that. Now flip the projector over. There should be 6 screws on the bottom panel if I recall correctly. One of these screws is hidden under a "warranty void if removed" sticker. Remove all of these screws. You will then need to pry again. Start on the sides again, this time the seam is a half inch up from the bottom of the projector. I suggest using a tiny flat head screwdriver to carefully start prying up the seam. Once you barely start you should start to see some very small indentations that were hidden under the seam. Use your plastic pry bar to pry at those points first before working your way around the seam. You'll be able to get at the fans from there. However, I posted a thread on this: And I ran into problems from here. The fans you need are 92mm ones. Also 3 pin but the connectors that Noctua fans use are too large. One of them is a mini 3 pin connector. The other is some sort of MICRO 3 pin connector. I could find an adapter for the mini but not the other one. Also don't bother with Noctua redux. The cooling either isn't enough or the voltage is not right and the projector will detect this and turn itself off. If you can find an adapter or the name of that micro 3 pin connector let me know. Also let me know if you manage to get your fans working as I'd like to know specifically which ones do work.
  2. Regarding your hacking the Quest 2 video that's coming. If you can, could you investigate if getting the 802.11AY wifi working on the quest 2 (would need a hack from my understanding) and see if it is backwards compatible with an 802.11AD router? I'm wondering if that can be the golden bullet to get sub 25ms latency.
  3. Update just for anyone who finds this in the future’s information: It was not a redux 1200 version. There are two fans in the projector. They are both 92mm fans. Also, the redux will not work. The projector will detect the cooling to be insufficient and will turn itself off. Also the fans do NOT have normal three pin connectors. You will need to replace or adapt the connectors. One fan has a mini three pin connector. The other has an even smaller (micro maybe?) three pin connector. I cannot find an adapter for the micro connector for sale so redoing the connectors would be required. I have given up on modding this projector at this point since I have already spent more than I expected with no success.
  4. Just watched the video on the Quest 2. Could you guys test the WiFi connection again? You tested on the Quest but the Quest 2 is supposed to have WiFi 6 now. This might be a Techquickie suggestion instead, not sure. Ideally it would be nice to know what the latency of a wired connection from PC to WiFi 6 router to Quest2 would be. Also, while there are not many examples, does a 2.5, 5 or 10 gigabit wired connection to WiFi 6 router make a significant difference? Edit: Also, the quest supports WiFi AY but are there any routers or ways to connect via that yet? If so, how are the results on that?
  5. This has been asked before on these forums with no response. But in the episode Epic Employee Lounge Upgrade you guys modified your PX747 to be quieter by replacing the fans inside with noctua fans. Can you guys detail exactly which fans you replaced and with what models? Did you replace any blower fans as well? I'd love to drop the noise of my projector but I also want to avoid having it run too hot by having subpar or ill-fitting fans.
