Jeff my life's Achievements

  1. I don't think Linus is the kind of guy to just leave these guys high and dry after such a massive f-up. I know that's how he's being portrayed, but I genuinely don't think he would let their company go belly-up over this. They clearly have more support now than they ever have. This narrative of "will they survive?!" Is really, really silly to me. They're gonna be fine. Machining copper isn't alchemy based on whether or not Haley's comet is passing, it's reproducible manufacturing.
  2. That is definitely a problem, a big problem, but I feel like I'm alone in understanding his reasoning. In my opinion, he never should have given that video the green light in the first place since an $800 copper block is never going to be a smart purchase for your rig. We didn't need tests to find that out, so either test it right or don't test it at all
  3. I signed back into the forum for the first time in a long time because the subreddit devolved into a trolling nightmare. I gotta say that while I agree that the Billet Labs video should have been done right in the first place and the block shouldn't have been auctioned off (though it seems this was settled in private), it seems that this whole thing is just a power move on GN's part and it's working. It's not that GN's criticisms are invalid, they're valid, but there was some really harsh editorial moments and sound biting that was incredibly troubling for me as someone who has been through this kind of thing in other YouTube communities. I've always seen Steve as a voice of reason, but this feels like what it is; a self-serving hit piece. The fact that him and his team felt the most appropriate way to go about this was to point out every LMG goof from the last year and spin it in the worst way possible is, to me, the move of jealous competition. He's out here acting like his video is an act of charity for the community while his subs (and therefore ad revenue) explode. I know people are saying they don't want Linus to act too soon, and I agree, but if I were him I would be beyond tempted to have my entire team find every goof from GN in the last year and serve it right back. If Linus simply owns these problems, corrects them, and moves on... I'll be impressed, albeit mildly disappointed. Steve is clearly very calculated in the chess game and Linus tends to act on impulse, which is a big part of why we love the guy, but it would be nice to see a well-calculated LMG response video to this. Feel free to point out why LMG isn't alone in the goofs and corrections business. Also, last comment on the Billet Labs situation. I understand why people are upset, but I can't help but agree that it's a dumb, unmarketable waste of good copper, only intended for rich kids to use for bragging rights. I don't blame Linus for pushing those guys to make something more practical and marketable. That's actually solid advice. Was everything about it handled terribly? Yeah, about as bad as it could have been handled. The "spending $$$ in time" bit was rough. Being honest. Was Billet Labs going to become an iconic staple of pro gaming builds? No. It's an $800 cooler with OK performance when used properly. And to say those "poor" guys can't afford to sue Linus... They own a damn copper machining company and focused their product at the upper echelons of wealth. What a ridiculous conclusion to make. /rant
  4. It is almost impossible to buy legitimate used AirPod Pros for 2 reasons: - The people that have them usually aren't getting rid of them - The fakes completely dominate every 3rd party retailer sites like Craigslist, FB Market, letgo, Mercari, etc. making it like finding a needle in a haystack, and even when you find the needle it could be hay in disguise (like this post, unfortunately) I only trusted one site for mine, and it was Amazon's Renewed program because their guarantee of legitimacy is rock-solid even if technically sold by a third-party. The Amazon Renewed program has been, thus far, excellent to me. I got a shotty Surface Pro 4 (Renewed) a few years ago via third party and it was no-questions-asked swapped by Amazon with an official Amazon refurb. I got my AirPod Pros via Amazon Renewed for a nice $169. Not only were they like new with all original packaging and documentation, but they were even shrinkwrapped like they were new.
  5. If that ends up being the case, I could potentially mount the C drive SSD to the card and have the WiFi on my board. I'd obviously much rather use the only M.2 slot on my board for my SSD, but for cost-saving, I might end up doing this as I legitimately should not be spending another 20 bucks on a wifi card. lol
  6. Hullo! I'm new here but have been watching LTT for a while. So I recently endured an accidental endeavor while trying to upgrade an OEM PC and ended up building an entirely different PC. Oops. However, I'm having a weird CPU/Chipset/Motherboard compatibility issue and found that only 2 out of 10 USB ports work. So I was looking for a few more USB Ports to add via PCIe. That's where this weird thing comes in: MZHOU USB 3.0/USB-C M.2 Expansion Card Okay, so I have zero doubts that the M.2 will work with SSDs. However, my need for an M.2 slot comes in the form of an Intel WiFi 6/Bluetooth 5.0 M.2 card I pulled off the OEM PC. I only have 1 slot on the board and it is occupied by my SSD and I'm trying to recycle as many parts as possible from the OEM. I've been staring at the key and cant make heads or tails as to whether this will work for my purpose. I also work in tech support and my colleagues are baffled as well, as the PCIe expansion card comes with a SATA cable for data transfer. But why? Unless the PCIe card itself is dedicating the board connection for USB data and all SSD data is going through the SATA cable, with the PCIe only providing power. We've been going back and forth as there is conflicting documentation on the card. It comes in tomorrow, so we will know then, but figured this was the right crowd for this discussion Thanks guys! t o o d l e s
