  1. In what units are each measured in? Assuming you have time on the x axis and the variable of interest is on the y axis. If its just percentage with no other information, then it's not much to go off of.
  2. It will work in most cases, I mixed speeds and brands in my p50.
  3. Just in case anyone searches this thread and has some problem with their p50, I was able to get it running by arranging the dimms so they run in series/same channels. Theres two ram slots under the keyboard and two on the underside of the laptop. However if your mixing dimms, the top slot under the keyboard has to have the same type of memory as the bottom slot on the underside. I thought I already tested that configuration, but after trying again, it worked! All four dimms clocked down to 2133mhz because that's the max supported by the CPU.
  4. Thanks for the reply, I am starting the RMA process and I do agree with you, I should stick to well known RAM. There is probably just something happening with mixing of dimms and the timings. Here are the voltage specs: Kllisre: 1.2v Samsung: 1.2v CPU-Z is showing same voltage as the specs. I also thought maybe I could've been mixing ECC and non-ECC, but I've ruled that out too.
  5. Whats your mouses polling rate? Ive heard if the rate is too high this can be very taxing on your cpu, you could try adjusting that to see if it makes a difference. I suspect this isn't the issue though. You should also monitor your cpu and gpu usage while in game to see where the bottleneck is happening. You should also post your full specs here.
  6. I have a lenovo p50 i7-6700hq that has expandability up to 64gb with 4 sodimms. When i got the laptop it had 2x 8gb 2133hz samsung ddr4. I ordered 2 more sticks of killisre 8gb 2666, and when i installed them, the machine wouldn't post. Here is what Ive done so far to troubleshoot: 1) i added only 1 stick of killisre ram rather than 2 and the machine posted. I thought this might be because the one stick was defective, but i swapped them and the machine still posted. so both ram sticks are definately working. 2) i then thought maybe the socket was busted, so i switched which slot the single stick of killisre was seated in. But to my suprise the machine still posted, so this wasnt the problem either. 3) I then removed the samsung memory and seated both sticks of killisre memory in their place (total of 2), and the machine posted, after adding one stick of samsung memory the machine posted (total of 3), but adding the second samsung stick the machine wouldnt post (total of 4) So it seems that no matter what orientation ive arrange the dimms, as soon as i add a 4rth module the machine wont post. The machine will only posted with a max of three modules. I even tried a 4gb stick of samsung ddr4 2133hz, 16gb crucial 2400hz dimm, and the same result. I am at a loss of what to do, right now i am updating the bios to see if there's any chance that could be the issue. Any help or ideas i could try would be appreciated. EDIT: Updating BIOS doesn't resolve the issue.
  7. i mean that sounds about right depending on GPU. So what did you end up doing, just live with the unstable framerate i suppose? Yeah I just live with the fluctuations, really the fluctuation are usually due to different maps. They don't feel that bad as before since now it never stutters below 90. But my GPU is only a 970 so I expect smoother performance if I were to upgrade.
  8. Cod has this issue for me too.i was bottlenecked with my Haswell i5, then I upgraded to a 12400f and my fps went from 30-60 to 90-140. Same GPU. CPU usage went from 100 down to 50 and GPU usage went from 60 to 100.
  9. Yeah sounds to me like your cooler is broken, it is clearly not transferring any heat away from your CPU. Not sure why that would be the case though. Best to test with a stock air cooler to see if it is indeed the cooler.
  10. Yeah that seems wierd that windows won't boot. If you bought it at ME it should be in warranty, so testing the card in another computer to see if it works would be the next step.
  11. Microsoft website, device manager error codes: Full Error Message This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. (Code 12) Sounds to me like too many PCI lanes are being used up by your system for your graphics card to be able to be used.
  12. Troubleshooting steps: 1. Reseating all internal cabling 2. Tried both sticks of ram individually in each port, and together swapped. 3. Resetting cmos (ground with screwdriver for 10 seconds w/ power off) 4. Tried different monitor and hdmi cable Also try getting an internal speaker hooked up to the board so you can hear the post code errors
  13. Age and use contribute to the depletion of capacitors in a PSU. If your running it at an overhead then the expected lifetime can be as high as 10 years.
  14. Throttlestop should be used on older laptops to apply a light undervolt to the cpu and disable turbo boost on battery so that temperatures, battery performance and longevity is improved. You can encounter crashes if you set the undervolt too low.
  15. Just ran a sustained Cinebench load for 20 mins. Temps topped at 83c with stock cooler. CPU was pinned at 4Ghz didn't notice any issues. Will do some more testing later, but this is just for now.
  16. CPU just arrived today will be putting it together tonight. Any ideas how to test VRM throttling?
  17. Hi, This seems to be a problem with windows and plug and play monitors. This article might help you out. https://thegeekpage.com/fix-generic-pnp-monitor-problem-on-windows-10-solved/
  18. Summary Microsoft Corp. plans to buy Activision Blizzard Inc. for $68.7 billion, acquiring a legendary game publisher responsible for franchises like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft, but recently roiled by claims of sexual misconduct and discrimination. Quotes My thoughts What could this mean for the tarnished image of activision/blizzard? Microsoft's track record has so far been good with other acquisitions. Is this enough to finally topple Sony as the number one company in gaming revenue? 19. There's OpenRazer on Linux, but nothing I am aware of for Windows.
  20. Gaming on a threadripper isn't the intended use case because while you do have alot of multi-tgreaded processing power, the single core performance isn't that great. You'll find much more gaming oriented motherboards if you were to go with an intel 12900k, something with a z690 chipset.
  21. I just bought this combo. Total price in CAD plus shipping is $462.03. I will report my own benchmarks later.
