Nope. It should auto activate for something simple like a drive change.

The one cool thing about the Extreme4/SL is the POST code, and that's in fact why the Steel Legend made the list for that video. Other than that, their competitors' boards are better overall, but they're not bad or anything. The VRM on them is capable of running even a 3950X, albeit maybe with some direct airflow on the VRM heatsinks if you run an overvolted 3950X.

B550 boards are relatively new, so there simply hasn't been enough time passed to build up a remotely complete QVL. However, QVLs are never exhaustive anyways. Pretty much any 2133-3800Mhz RAM will just wrok. Things only get dicey at the high end with 4000+MHz RAM, though some older, and particularly lower quality boards might have issues with 3600 and 3800Mhz.
 
In short, if you've got a remotely decent board, and a Zen 2 chip, which you have out of the box with B550, then you're fine. Just don't get higher than 3800Mhz, which you shouldn't do anyways with Zen 2.

QVL list are extremely vague as it is impossible to verify every single memory kit on every single board in existence. 99.999% of the time it will work out of the box, if it doesn’t some manual tweaking will get it to work.
