  1. Was this a new card or a second hand one? It looks dead to me so if you can return it I would do so.
  2. Are you plugging the cpu power cables into the GPU? There are separate cables for the GPU normally labelled PCIe power.
  3. is it worth taking your psu out of your old setup and trying that one, it may at least tell you that its the psu??
  4. Thanks, never knew that. Every day is a school day!
  5. I’m a little confused. I’ve just built a system using second hand parts for my daughter to use. It’s a i7 4790K with built in HD4600 graphics. I have also added in a Sapphire Rx570. Just ran Heaven and benchmarked the 570 getting a average FPS of around 100 at 1080p high settings which is what I expected to get. Out of interest I then connected the monitor to the iGPU and ran the bench again, expecting to get around 17fps as per other results I have seen, but the benchmark runs at around the 85-90fps as if it was using the rx570? Any ideas as I’m confused, I thought the system had to be connected to the discreet GPU in order to utilise it?? TIA Martin
  6. …..you put together a new system but then wonder why it’s thermal throttling even at idle. When you investigate you realise you’ve stupidly left the piece of plastic on the heat sink of your new shiny cooler…..to quote Homer Simpson….DOH!!
  7. Guys, just checking that you guys agree with my diagnosis. Just bought a second hand MSI Z97 Gaming 7 with a i7 4790K processor. Problem is the motherboard keeps resetting to default setting when I boot it up. It works fine other than that. I’m thinking the motherboard battery is flat? Am I prob right?
  8. Did you try underclocking? This seemed to fix it for me.
  9. Ryzen 9 3900x Asus x570 crosshair VIII formula Corsair RM850x psu. Corsair 360mm AIO cooler for cpu Coolermaster H500M case EVGA RTX 3080 FTW 3 Ultra GPU is running at 67c and cpu at 57C on load. Game is installed on a M.2 drive.
  10. Hi all, anyone one else with a RTX 3080 having stability problems? I have a EVGA RTX 3080 FTW 3 Ultra card that I normally have a small overclock on and it works fine with every other game I own. Just got Cyberpunk the other day and with the overclock it kept crashing to the desktop. I took off the over clock and it initially seemed ok, but after a while it kept crashing to desktop. The GPU core was running at just over 2000Mhz. I had to dial in a 100Mhz Underclock and now it’s stable but with the GPU core clock at just under 1900mhz. Luckily my frame rate is still mid 90’s on Ultra at 1440p with RT on. anyone else having to underclock their GPU to get stable game performance? Seems very poor on the games part.
  11. Hi Im going to move my AIO from the front of the case to the top as where it is now its blowing warm air on my RTX 3080 and warming it up. My case is a Coolermaster H500M and with this case there is the option to mount fans above the chassis but below the glass top to the case. When mounting a AIO at the top do the fans have to exhausting through the rad i.e. mounted under the rad, or can they be above the rad sucking air through the rad and out the top of the case? Main reason I ask is there is not a lot off clearance to have rad and fans below the chassis, so it would be easier to have rad below the chassis and the fans above if this makes sense?
  12. Not really, there is a psu shroud and it’s not perforated. Cpu is running nice and cool, so may take the small increase in cpu temp at the benefit of a cooler GPU.
  13. Evening. my EVGA 3080 XC3 card is a little warm in my case. Currently I have a 360mm AIO cooling my cpu at the front, and 2x140mm fans at the top, and 1x 140mm fan at the rear. The AIO is pulling air in, and the others are exhausting it. So cool air is been drawn from outside, and warmed up in the rad before been blown into the case meaning my 3080 is been ‘bathed’ in warm air. Would I be better putting the AIO at the top and exhausting the hot air out of the case this way? thanks
  14. Ok so Ive done some more testing:- Stock:- Core clock is 1950 with an average of 1762 Mem clock is 1188 with an average of 1188 Time Spy extreme score is 8134 XC1 Overclock (+120 core, +800 mem) core clock is 2040 with a average of 1795 mem clock is 1288 with an average of 1288 Time Spy extreme score is 8405 Afterburner OC (+120 core, +800 mem, but cant up the voltage as it wont let me even though I selected voltage control from the settings??) Core clock is 2100 with an average of 1851 mem clock is 1288 with an average of 1288 Time Spy Extreme score is 8576 still confused
  15. Afternoon I have a EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra card that I'm trying to overclock. I'm using EVGA's precision X1 software and I have achieved a stable OC with a 800Mhz boost on the memory clock and a 115 Mhz boost on the core clock (+50mv on the voltage and a power delivery at max.) I am seeing small improvements on my Time Spy Extreme score, but when I check against higher scores that others have acheived, they seem to show an average core clock of over 2000Mhz whilst I am averaging around the 1800 Mhz. What am I doing wrong here? I'm not thermal throttling as my temps are in the low 70c on load. CPU is a Ryzen 9 3900X oc to all core 4.2Ghz
  16. all activated now, found my old windows 7 box and that key worked.
  17. problem is I forgot to write down the product key before I swapped out the Mb.
  18. Ive just changed my PC's motherboard and tried to reactivate Windows. I tell it Ive changed hardware and select the desktop PC i'm using but it keeps telling me that its unable to activiate Windows. Any suggestions. Dont really want to spend £100 plus pounds on a new code. Martin
  19. Ryzen 9 3900X but a 5900X on preorder. And currently a Corsair 360mm AIO. Asus x570 Crosshair VIII Formula board and a EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra.
  20. Morning, Ive never used a custom water cooling system, but was just wondering if a custom water cooling loop is significantly better that an good quality AIO cooler? Would I see a realistic difference between the two? thanks Martin
  21. For that budget you should just be able to push it for a 3070 if you could a) push the budget a tad and b) actually find a card. I would expect the 3060Ti to be just as hard to find as the other 3000 series.
  22. Hi Ive got a Samsung G7 27 inch on order, if I was also to get a G5 27 inch as a second monitor and put them side by side would the curve be the same as if I had a G9 on the desk? Stupid question I know but was just wondering. Martin
  23. Decided not to bother with 4K as I’m gaming at a desk and also use the computer for other stuff such as writing. So I went for a 240hz 1440p monitor instead.
