  1. I checked the stick I had in my system... It was a 2666 module
  2. Let me clarify - When I run Discord and Civ VI at the same time, after a significant period of time, my system crashes and stops responding. This occurs faster when I stream through to Discord on Civ VI. I only have a singe stick of RAM. Would Dual Channel help out?
  3. Hey, I am having some issues running Civ VI and streaming the game in Discord at the same time on my laptop. I currently have 8GB of memory and using Ubuntu MATE 20.10 as my OS on a SATA SSD. Would it be worth it to upgrade the ram to a 16GB 3200Mhz 2 stick kit? Or am I missing something with regards to performance? Is there another bottleneck i am not seeing?
  4. When I saw this in my newsfeed, I was legitimately interested. Anything to avoid Spectre/Meltdown/Zombieload mitigation performance hits. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/05/lenovo-adds-amd-ryzen-pro-powered-laptops-to-its-thinkpad-family/ I wonder if these laptops or Spectre/Meltdown/Zombieload will make a LTT video in the near future. Not a heavy gamer, but game on Linux. Plus, I want a laptop more durable than a Inspiron. Every Inspiron I owned, there was some issue with regards to the hinges.
  5. I know that the latest version of the Linux Kernel has support for Ryzen & Vega. Would the Vega Graphics be enough for my "gaming"?
  6. Linus Forum members, I would like a computer specification analyst's perspective on Ryzen Mobile. Is it objectively better than Intel in terms of their Vega Graphics? I am upgrading from i7 Haswell for context. Also curious if AMD has any plans for eGPU support on Ryzen Mobile. This computer will run Linux {Ubuntu MATE most likely w/ Windows VM}. I just need enough graphics power to use for my games. (Civ VI, Rocket League, & the occasional Free-To-Play MOBA)

  8. Hi, There has been a rise in more obscure brands and their devices you can get unlocked. One brand in particular is Alcatel. They just released a new phone called the Idol 3 (mentioned lightly in this forum) and it would seem like a phone Linus (Media Group) could do a review on. A very inexpensive option with significant specifications. Idol 3 buy page: http://www.alcatelonetouch.us/ALCATEL-ONETOUCH-Idol-3/b/11350980011 There is also news of the new Cyanogen phone from Alcatel, called the Hero 2+. It's a note-style Cyanogen device and seems like a device that barely anyone is paying attention to. Want to arouse some interest and hopefully a review from Linus (Media Group) to inform his audience. Press Release: https://cyngn.com/press/introducing-the-hero-2 Alcatel Nofication sign-up: http://www.alcatelonetouch.us/ALCATEL-ONETOUCH-HERO-2-Unlocked/dp/B00TYQ5CLS P.S.: for future reference if this brand is in the WAN Show, Xiaomi is pronounced SHA-Oh-Mee.
  9. Seems like a great form factor to run Linux on. Could also be great form factor for schools.
  10. Wirecutter just replaced the Panasonic Ergo Fit for the Brainwavz Delta. Maybe Linus should review these in the future? http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-headphones-under-30/
  11. Earpods are terrible as far as i've heard. Any other reccs?
  12. Hey! My family is looking for decent earbuds on the cheap. I want to give them the best sound possible for the money, however, I don't want the cost to be exorbitant. I used to have a pair of Monoprice 9927's but they broke. My family does not want anything that looks wierd just for sound quality. My sister used a decent pair of Dynex earbuds we got from Best Buy a long while ago. Now I want them to have a mic included with their earbuds. Any recommendations. I already posted a forum on head-fi about this and the JVC marshmallows they recommended look decent. What are your thoughts? NOTE: buying for 3 people ; again : NOTHING EXORBITANT Head-fi forum: http://www.head-fi.org/t/745459/earbuds-with-mic-with-multiple-colors Thanks for your help

  14. A Hybrid drive could be a great alternative if you have a one drive system. Also, check if your laptop has an m.2 mSATA slot for an mSATA SSD.
