  1. I appreciate it. Yeah, having a pc that has room to grow will be a good lesson for her. Thanks for your time. I'll look into more options, but your list is in agreement with the parts I had in mind too !
  2. I've never bought uses pc parts.. let alone a gpu that might have a lot of miles on it... thoughts?
  3. US, sorry I apologize. I updated the post now.
  4. Hello everyone ! I'm trying to introduce my little sister to PCs and show her how to build a PC. My issue, like many others, is finding a good deal. Please when you recommend builds, please consider parts available to order today with today's prices. My original part list for her was undermined by out of stock or insanely inflated pricing. This was supposed to be a birthday gift 2.5 months ago, but I held off due to prices. She has been super understanding and patient, but I want to do this for her now. Her interests: Coding (she currently wakes up early every Saturday morning to code very simple games using pre-made blocks of code, but she wants to learn to create on her own now), Minecraft, and Rocket League. Budget: $1000 ± 100 or so.. Country: USA Thank you for your time. I didn't grow up with much, so if my little sis likes to code, I want to help her explore that with the resources I have now.
  5. thank you for your recommendation. I think we will stick to Intel CPU's because of their better efficiency with Adobe Premier and h.264, etc. encoders. though, my personal build has a ryzen Please let me know if you disagree with the general consensus that Intel > Ryzen when it comes to Adobe applications and h.264/265 !
  6. mm so, in your opinion, waiting on the 3080 is the way to go. By the way what is the realistic chances to get one at a reasonable price/MSRP? I've never had the budget for one so i never looked specifically haha.
  7. Hello everyone, thank you for your time. I am helping my cousin transition from his iMac to the PC family. He goes to school for film, and takes pride in what he shoots, but also what he can do in post. In his words, he plans to not only edit his 4k videos, but also begin "doing more CGI-based work.. so more work with Blender or Cinema 4D". Budget: USD $2500 , but he is willing to go a little extra for a necessary reason. *US availability Expected programs: Adobe Premiere, Blender, and Cinema 4D Here is the part list I have currently made for him: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Pgc3LP Please let me know what parts are more optimal, etc. I think he wants to get the most out of his budget. Do you recommend he wait and hope he happens to get a rtx 3080? I don't think it's necessary, but I also am not familiar with this kind of workload. Thank you ! EDIT: He does, unfortunately, need wifi. Not for uploading, but for other things.
  8. Thank you all very much, as far as i can tell the driver update resolved the issue. slightly embarrassed haha Again, thank you!
  9. the upload speed is pretty typical in my area at least.. and yes my pc is plenty capable i think the drivers resolved the issue!
  10. i believe i tried flushing it before, but i think the driver updates were the issue
  11. yes! i am actually reaaaallly embarrassed that this slipped my mind.. hope this is the issue!
  12. oh maybe i do need to update driver.. never downloaded from mb's site i will try, thank you. i seem to randomly be having a good connection tonight for the first time in months.. (kind of like when you go see the doctor and you magically feel better right before the appointment xD) but i hope this is the only issue!
  13. yes. my ISP recently forced us to switch to their modem + router combo, and my pc goes directly into my router
  14. :0 that's not normal? i've had 2 digit my whole life! and i believe i have... device manager > network adapters right? yee
  15. Hello, I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get. I am having issues with very unstable internet connection on my PC that is connected via ethernet. here is my speedtest: seems good right? Issues: when i watch twitch streams, even if the video quality is on 480p, i will get buffering every 10 seconds, which ultimately results in receiving a network error from twitch. yes, this occurs using chrome, opera, and the twitch desktop app when i play games such as League of Legends i run into 2 issues: 1) in champ select (if you dont know, this is like the lobby where you choose your character before the game starts), I will often lag out and d/c 2) in game, despite my in-game ping notification being normal, I receive a very unstable connection. Randomly lose control of my character for split seconds, inputs dont register, etc. when i am in a Discord call, I will often experience rapid d/c then reconnect then d/c-ing. our wifi isn't great, but I do not have issues with watching twitch on wifi on my phone if im near my router. I am able to stream onto twitch without any latency issues. So my upload speeds seem to be fine. ISP came out and ran some tests and found no issues.. so maybe this is an issue with my pc or pc settings? no my pc is not old, however, the gpu and psu are 4yrs old so could use replacing.. Please help me work out these problems~!
  16. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RM39V5F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ljb8EbZCJP1M7 wait why is the 3600 kit the same price as a 3200 ok i guess i'll get it LOL
  17. ok, i thought i heard the newer ryzen cpus dont care as much about faster ram than the previous versions.. (source from LTT or Jay2cents) and yeah i will definitely upgrade gpu and cpu together
  18. cool! sounds good, hopefully i can follow up with a gpu upgrade shortly as well! i appreciate it!
  19. Budget (including currency): ~$500 Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Streaming, League of Legends, Minecraft, Halo MCC My current system: MoBo: MSI B450 Tomahawk CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1400 GPU: EVGA GTX 1050ti RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 1x8 GB DDR4-2400 PSU: EVGA 450 B3 80+ Bronze 450W Storage: SanDisk 120GB SSD, 2 WD Blue 1TB HDDs I do not want to spend the money to upgrade everything at once, so I want to know what is most optimal to upgrade now (given the workloads listed above).. I am thinking since I want to stream when I play it'd be best to upgrade CPU and RAM first. I am currently deciding between a Ryzen 5 3600x or Ryzen 7 3700x, and will probably just get Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200. Making this post to make sure the new additions will be the most optimal way of going about things. Am I correct? In my case is it best to just upgrade cpu and ram (gpu later)? Thank you for your time!
  20. I unplugged the HDD and kept the SSD in (has windows and League), but it seems I now freeze every game.
  21. sorry was busy all day, thanks for the reply! i think it could very well be a failing hard drive, since my HDD is actually taken from a pretty old PC.. however, the SSD is 3 years old, which is the drive I have my league on. However, I will give this a shot. *re-reading your response, are you saying that despite most of the game issues being on the SSD, the HDD can still affect it? also, I would love to try to convince my family for the nth time again that windows 10 is more than adequate especially since we don't use any sketchy sites, however, ultimately I think I will have to adhere to their authority on it ps: lol i tried to properly format the post given the fact that I didnt provide much info anyways, so the least I could do is make it readable haha
