  1. I know it's been like a month but I didnt have time to do anything until now. Used another PSU, brand new courtesy of a friend of mine and nothing, same error. So it's either the mobo or the CPU, sad news for a poor student with no money
  2. I do not have an overclock, and since I've not touched anything volt related, I assume they're on auto.
  3. Hello! So a week ago I woke up and turned my PC on, as always. It posted, but showed me "CPU Overvolting error" and the only option that I have is to press F1 to get into bios. So I built an old PC and tried to research what's the problem, but no luck solving it nor having any real answers. So here's some information: PC SPECS: - CPU: Intel i5 4590 - Mobo: ASUS H97 Plus - RAM: 2x 4gb G.Skill 1333hz - PSU: Corsair CX600M - GPU: MSI GTX 970 - SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 120gb - HDD: WD Blue 1tb THINGS I TRIED: - Disconnecting everything except CPU/Mobo - Same error. - Defaults on bios, and reset cmos -- removed battery, etc. - Same error. - I put the PSU on another computer, just to see if it worked at all. Seems to work fine, though it's on a very old E2140 / GTS250 machine. Socket 775 with IDE connections for hdds, oooh brings a tear to my eye. THINGS I HAVE NOT TRIED, BUT I SHOULD ASAP: - Another PSU, d'oh. Though for my defense, all my friends have crap computers with no 8 pin connector for cpus, and even some extra psu that I have lying around do not have that hefty 4+4 connector. - Another CPU/Mobo. Same reason as above. - Bring this to a computer repairing store. >.< BIOS says that the CPU runs at 0.997V. I might have forgot some details, if I did I'll edit the post later.
  4. I was usinga 5200 RPM 32gb HDD before upgrading my PC, I used to come from work, turn the PC on, go take a pee, get some food so I didn't need to wait for the pc to boot. Oh god the days I forgot to turn on the pc before getting food and bathroom time, those are the longest boot times I've ever experienced. It might be super silly question, but doesn't the PCI controller need to initialize anyway if you don't have a pci based ssd? like, idk, videocards n' sh!t. I know there are a lot of applications for a SSD, I'm not THAT dumb, I was just pointing out that a $70 SSD boots 4 to 5 times faster than a $1k one. I'm a gold farmer, I only turn off my PC when power goes off and I have to turn on the generator to keep botti.. farming.. yea, farming manually only, totally legit.
  5. No, I'm not asking for help or anything... I have a 120gb Samsung 850 EVO SSD, and after watching video from Linus, and watching how a 1.2Tb NVMe super high end SSD boots in 45 seconds and then.. Shaky cellphone is shaky, I know, but you got the point, after post is just 11 seconds of boot time. Why is this? why a SSD that costs 10 times less boots 5 times as fast? I've got Windows 7 and Linus has Windows 10 in his ssd, and mine is like 6 months old or something like that. I'm a forun noob, so if this doesn't go in this section, sorry, I didn't find the Storage section proper for a scientific discussion about boot time and how linus new ssd boots slow as f**k.
  6. There's two options: Go for Nvidia so you and your friend has the same videocard brand, or go for AMD so you can check compatibility issues with both GPU brands.
  7. I already have a brand new CX600M from Corsair, that's why I didn't include it in the build. 600W should probbably be enough for this kind of build.
  8. Hi! So in a few weeks is my little brother's birthday and I've been planning a PC to give him as a gift. 1. Budget & Location Argentina. This location is important, since here in south america not all the parts are commercialized and we have a 50% tax on every item we buy from overseas that costs more than $25 USD. Yeah, and you thought your taxes were bad. Budget is arround $850 USD. 2. Aim He plays Lineage II, League of Legends, Minecraft and Action/Adventure games. Not much, without high definition nor high fps, since his current PC can't even handle 2004/2005 games properly. Also I think he's into video production, so gameplay recording and editing is a possibility. 3. Monitors 1. He currently has a Micron 17" not even know if it's 720p lol. 1024x768 resolution. He's saving for a 1080p monitor, so have that in mind. 4. Why are you upgrading? He has a VM900M v1, E2140 Dual core 1.6ghz cpu, XFX GTS 250 Core Edition GPU, a case with no airflow at all (not even a side panel, it broke) and a full 28gb HDD. No, not 280, 28. The build I planned: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/sQgLdC PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.98 @ OutletPC) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($144.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($84.98 @ OutletPC) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($55.99 @ NCIX US) Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 4GB Dual-X Video Card ($189.99 @ Newegg) Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case ($101.37 @ Amazon) Total: $837.28 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-08-07 13:32 EDT-0400 I study programming, and my university has some sort of deal with Microsoft, no idea what, but I get two keys per year of Windows. So OS is not a problem. I've also have a brand new Corsair CX600M PSU that I think will work okay with this build. Thoughts? Improvements? I'd love to hear your opinion! Thanks!

    $100 case

I'm either gonna do this, or buy the Source 530. Linus said in his review of the Enthoo Pro that the packaging was crappy, and I'm afraid of it failing while shipping it from US all the way down to South America. Edit: I dediced to go for the NZXT Source 530 and mod it a little bit. The Enthoo Pro would've been a better choice, but it's just too much trouble to ship it to Argentina specifically (is that even a word?lol). Thank you everyone, keep being awesome.

    $100 case

I get more and more sad. Corsair is almost not commercialized in my country, Fractal Design is not commercialized either. So it seems like the only option available is the NZXT Source 530, or ship a case from the US wich can take 10 to 30 days. Yeah, sad Vinter is sad. The only shop that sold Corsair cases not only didn't have the 450D, but the other ones were overpriced as f***.. $400 for the 550D, yeah right. They sell it as if it were made out of gold. I really fell in love with the Enthoo Pro, I might just buy it online and ship it. I didn't like the fact that it's shipped with hard foam, and it being shipped from the other side of the world, well, if it arrives broken I'd have to ship it back and forth, it's just too much trouble. Not only not available in my country, but didn't love it that much. Yeah, I think exactly like you
  11. Hi. I'm planning on building a entry level PC for my little brother for his birthday and was looking for a full tower at $100 +-20 budget. I fell in love with the Enthoo Pro by Phanteks and was actually considering buying an extra one for myself, but sad thing is it is not available in Argentina, my country, and the only way to get one is shipping it from US. I also saw the NZXT Source 530, wich is available in my country, and was also considering it. What are your thoughts? Other choices? I want full tower for further upgrade over the following months, plus the space is nice to have, I've not been building PCs for long and it's nice to have a wide space to work with. Thanks!
  12. I actually find this type of videos really interesting. LinusTechTips has gone over the computer market expanding to "tech-y and useful gadgets" like this one. Although I might not fully switch the channel to an "overall" type of deal, having one of these once in a while is completely fine and it just plain works. As Linus said in the video, this is more of a "electronic transportation device" more than a simple toy. For toys, there's SuperFun.
  13. Am I the only one that doesn't really care about the looks of components? My case doesn't even have a side panel nor is it on a really viewed place of the house. As long as it's functional, I'm good with it.
  14. Free phones for everyone! Woo hoo! One thing I must say about this video is that I'd loved to see more mic/video recording of the phone other than a 2 second clip and a cat.
