  1. I'm going to preface this with the fact that i'm a Computer Technician, and I'm not certified by Microsoft (One of my goals down the line though, so I can stop asking stupid questions lol) I work in a large multi domain, multi OS image, enterprise environment. One of the occasional issues we often run into is that the GPO will become corrupted on users laptops, or desktops (The internet will work, but anything related to our corporate network -- such as a group policy update for example doesn't work). I'm curious is there any way within Windows to kind of re-apply the last copy of GPO, without being connected to the network? Below is a cat meme as a thank you:
  2. I'm thinking of trying to use AWS to mine some of the cheaper cryptocurrencies
  3. Hello, I want to get started mining cryptocurrency (Most likely Bitcoin). From what I understand you need an ASIC unit in order for it to make any sense. So my conundrum is. While trying to determine the potential profitability of it any online calculators show wildly different numbers. From $400 dollars all the way to $857 with the same unit. Any recommendations on a good ASIC miner, and if 1 miner alone can still make enough money to make sense buying it?
  4. From what I read they should find be able to fix some of the things hindering performance on Ryzen. But even taking rumours into account it could be drastically different. I'm hoping for 25%. But that's also a hope, and not at all reality lol
  5. Hello guys. I wanted to bring up an issue I recently had, and how I figured out how to fix it. So for the longest time I had issues in Windows 10, and sometimes even Windows 7 where I would be watching a video on Youtube, netflix, in chrome, IE, VLC, listening to music in Spotify, or in Windows Media Player, and all of a sudden it wouldn't work., It might be one or two weeks between occurrences but it always fixed with a reboot. Whenever I went to play a video it would seem to just show me one frame, and not progress beyond that. No sound, nothing. In that time I had done an in place upgrade to Windows 10. And after enough time fighting with Windows due to the in place upgrade service having it's own pitfalls I did a fresh image of Windows 10 from Microsofts website. I always made sure all applicable drivers are installed, and my system / programs are up to date. And each time it came to renew my free trial of Windows I did slmgr /rearm until I bought my license key. Additionally since my motherboard died I purchased a motherboard from ASUS to replace it. The one commonality was my external soundcard. So in the decision to finally nail down what the issue was I went to task manager and started killing, and re-enabling processes and testing / reopening applications each time. I found one process that seems to have caused it: audiodg.exe Kill that process in task manager, disconnect your audio device (either from windows, or unplug the USB cable, and plug it back in like I did after killing the process tree) That fixed the issue for me. Just wanted to have it on the internet since I didn't run into a single thing that helped me, so hope this helps future plebs not to have to spend time troubleshooting.
  6. It also depends on whether the application can utilize the new architecture and technologies as well. For example a Call of Duty game released in 2010 might only support two cores, but the latest Battlefield might support 4, etc, etc.
  7. The difference will be drastic for some things, and not others. It entirely depends on the individual types of workloads that you're running. For games you will have a fairly big improvement. For day to day Youtube, Facebook, forums, etc, etc, you won't really notice any difference. You will see a difference for any processor, or GPU intensive tasks, like rendering videos, or playing games.
  8. You can setup a dual boot. You may want to partition your drive first. Also make sure that you're following an online guide to ensure that you aren't wiping out your system. On second thought backup your system prior to even considering this.
  9. So yeah you're already on the path to where you need to go.
  10. Yeah, kinda on Autopilot tonight lmfao. Either one works, and does the same thing.
  11. Try setting your quality settings the same as your friends, and see if it gets you closer.
  12. Have you tried? -Clearing CMOS -Updating, or flashing your MOBOs BIOS -Resetting your MOBO to factory default settings. -Trying a different RAM kit to see if this issue persists. You can buy 4GBs of DDR3/4 for dirt cheap atm. If you aren't experiencing any issues with a test kit assume it's your RAM. If the issues do persist with that kit assume it's your MOBO.
  13. We've got a load of monitors here actually. Each of them 1080P. On a 2 monitor setup, might go to three if I could get it above the other one's somehow. Those are good suggestions.
  14. Yeah, i'd follow cj's suggestions. That doesn't work call in a professional electrician for his expertise in investigating any wiring issues.
