  1. m.2 ssd's can use sata controllers. I usually use acronis to clone drives
  2. I'm not sure. Is the adata m.2 a SATA ssd? I would probably hold out for a nvme ssd or a hyperX Predator. It is hard to clone your OS to a smaller drive than you already have, but it can be done.
  3. I used to use ubuntu on my old laptop, but have recently switched to manjaro with the xfce4 desktop environment. I really just wanted to use an arch based OS to see if I would like it. It has been pretty solid so far. Matthew Moore and Spatry have some good manjaro tutorials on their respective youtube channels if you are interested.
  4. your build looks great and probably serves you quite well. But if you are feeling the itch to upgrade, maybe a m.2 ssd and use your hyperX ssd as a game library or just fast storage? Or maybe get another 16gb ram kit for quad channel? I personally like your config and wouldn't change anything...yet. In the end, it's your pc and my opinion means nothing, good luck happy upgrading
  5. I overspent on my motherboard. I bought an asus x99 deluxe when a x99 -a would have been fine. Not really complaining because my motherboard has been rock solid, I just wish I had not spent so much on it.
  6. I used to have a cm storm quickfire rapid i, and it liked to disconnect randomly in windows, and make me unplug it and plug it back in when I'm rebooting my pc just to get to the BIOS.
  7. Looks like a very nice build to me. It should serve you well. The only critique I would have is the noctua 3000 rpm fans. I have a couple of the 2000 rpm fans at home and decided to take them out of my build because even with the low noise adapters, it was very noisy when I put the system under load. I have a 4tb WD Black drive and I can confirm that it is pretty noisy. I also have a 5820k overclocked to 4.4 Ghz and it just rips through anything I could want it to do. But in the end, it is YOUR build, so the choice is completely up to you.
  8. I would also say 5820k. Mine has served me quite well.
  9. "The Best Build" is pretty subjective, it depends on what you are doing with it. Mine is pretty powerful, I'm really proud of it, and it is more than capable of everything I'm doing with it. I know it would not qualify for the "best build" nowadays considering the release of the Titan X, 980 Ti, Fury X, and the fact that most of the builds posted around here are gaming oriented, (don't get me wrong, mine is a 1080p beast), but If anyone cares, here are my specs. my build
  10. Looks awesome! Are you planning to add anything so you can do cable management inside the tubing? It is awesome even if you don't.
  11. New gpu (amd or nvidia I don't choose sides), a big 4k ips monitor, and move to all solid state storage.
  12. Wow! I would love to have one of those. I wonder if the hard drive in that enclosure is sata and has an adapter to USB 3.0.
  13. Once again, thank you for all the suggestions. I will definitely do something with it, not sure what just yet. I can always count on this forum for tech help... and only one person talked about my mom... Not bad.
  14. Thanks guys for the suggestions. I might upgrade it if I can do it on the cheap and replace the Mac mini as my htpc.
