  1. Thanks alot guys! Left it overnight and it's now only got a few gigs left.
  2. I have just recently clean-installed my Windows laptop, I am downloading all my necessary files from OneDrive, roughly 300GBish. However, it is downloading super slowly I think I saw the max speed at around 5MB/s. My internet speed is supposedly synced up and down at 300Mb/s (usually around 30-40MB/s). There isn't anyone using since it's only me who is awake in my home. Tried both wired & wifi there is no difference. No antivirus and other apps downloading/interfeering. Tried downloading on Steam, got 30MB/s down. Any one knows what might be the issue?
  3. Hey thanks for the reply. Checked that model out in my country, and it's not a good option here as it's closer to US$700 which is way out of the budget. However I found this: HP PAVILION 15 AMD RYZEN 7 5700U. It has good upgradability from what I can quickly glance, but probably terrible battery life. What do you think though about the specs?
  4. Hey, I'm not really up to date with the laptop market, so I could really use your help, guys. My girlfriend's little brother is studying abroad and needs a laptop because he doesn't have one. He'll mainly use it for school stuff he will be majoring in like data integration and data science, as well as some light gaming with games like Roblox, Valorant, and CSGO. We're working with a budget of around US$530 (converted from our local currency). Performance isn't a top priority for him since he's currently using an old PC with a Pentium processor and a 500GB HDD, and he's fine with it, so anything relatively current will be an upgrade. I recently came across the Asus Expertbook B1400 CEAE with the 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD variant. If this is the best option, I'm thinking of adding an extra hard drive (outside of the budget) since it has a 2.5-inch bay for it. However, there aren't many reviews for this laptop, so I'm not sure about its thermals and other aspects. Do you guys have any suggestions? Our main concern here is reliability. He's not tech-savvy at all, so there's a high chance of someone trying to scam him if he needs to take it to a service center. I can help with software issues, but when it comes to hardware, it's better to buy something new. Feel free to add any other suggestions or advice. Thanks a lot for your help!
  5. Sorry I meant 4 cores for VM1 i.e. 8 threads, and 3 cores for VM2 i.e. 6 threads. Will this be a problem for the host? And for the ram, if i assign VM1 with 16 and VM2 with 12, so theoratically the host will have only 4 GB. Does VMWare allocate the ram so that the host wont use more then 4GB? Or what will happen if say the usage of the host RAM increases over 4GB? Is it good to limit the host ram? Or how? Btw thanks for your answer
  6. So sorry if the title is a tad confusing and sorry that this is a relatively basic question in VMs. I want to make a PC (my gaming pc that i no longer use) and make 2 VMs. The system spec is an 8 core CPU (ryzen 5800x) with 32GB of ram. The plan is to use VMWare on Windows, VM1 has 4 cores and 16GB of ram, VM2 has 3 cores and 12GB of ram, and the host 1 core and 4 GB of ram. Do I need to limit the host's RAM in order that the other VMs won't starve in RAM? Or is this approach not really efficient? And just make 1 VM and use the host as the other VM? Note that team will connect to this PC via anydesk (idk if this will be a necessary information). The data will be empty, but I am concerned about the other devices within my network. The host doesn't need to be in Windows, but just because of familiarity I choose that. I am quite new to this, so sorry i don't understand. I have looked online but don't really know where to start, so yea... If there is more optimal ways to approach this, please do let me know. Thanks in advance!
  7. So I just bought this laptop today and found something a bit weird. When plugged in, cpu utilization is maxed at 70% and is at around 2,2 - 2,3ghz. Temps was at 60 - 65C, and the fans were barely spinning. When on battery it immediately increased the utilization to 100% and the clockspeeds to 3,3ghz. The fans then ramped up and temps rose to 80C. Idk why this is happening.. The laptop should be in performance mode. I have updated everything, Windows, BIOS, drivers, etc. I have restarted it and so on.
  8. Additional info: If i get the base model G14 I would only need to add US$66, but the 3060 one I have to add US$266.
  9. Hey, so I am starting a new role as Business Intelligence which requires SQL, SSMS, MicroStrategy, and more. For my laptop, I currently have a Mac Air M1 512gb which I am looking to sell for a Windows laptop. Any Recommendations? The budget is around $1000 to $1500 The usage of this laptop will mainly be work, circling around the app I mentioned above and Microsoft suite. Maybe light photo/video editing but it will be for personal use, so I don't need top tier performance. I don't game that much nowadays. Even when I do, it is usually just CSGO, and I just bought Stray. So nothing too demanding. I need a laptop that I can upgrade the M.2 slot (I have an 2Tb Crucial p5 plus which I can use), and upgrade-able RAM (since buying out of the gate will usually be more expensive, and I need smth above 16GB). For the apps which I am using, mostly is CPU intensive and I am preferably looking for an AMD CPU laptop for it's efficiency. Oh and I need something that won't break my back like my Omen 15 did, something under 2kgs (4,4lbs) should be good. I am currently looking at the base ROG Zephyrus g14 with the Ryzen R7 5800HS and 1650 for it's amazing battery life, upgradeability, and it's weight. But I am a bit on the fence since it only has 60hz (windows' 60hz vs macs are different, and I use 144hz for my PC). Choosing the higher tier, the one with the 3060 instead (still using the R7 5800hs), will of course be more expensive and consume more battery. Do you guys have any alternatives? Or should I go with the base model or the 3060?
  10. So I am using OneDrive, and was using the feature of Always Keep on Device for my work folder. I no longer work for that company and Free'd up Space. I suspect that the 171 Gb is from the old work folder being stuck. Is there a way to erase it without factory resetting my mac? I have tried solutions from Google, but nothing seems to work (using cleaner apps, reinstalling OneDrive, and so on). Thanks in advanced. Additional info: MacOS Monterey v12.3, Mac Air M1
  11. I am going to upgrade my internet soon to 250 Mbps and I need to upgrade most of my switches at home since they are only capped at 100 Mbps (10/100Mbps). Is the TP-Link TL-SG105 any good? The switch is currently only for splitting the internet and won't be using it to transfer any data, however, I might build a NAS so yea. I had some trouble with TP-Link's access points being needed to restarted every couple of days, so I am a bit hesitant of the brand. I am open to other suggestions from other brands.
  12. Yea, we have contacted support hopefully it worksout. Thanks guys!
  13. Without getting into too much detail, they mishandled the 2FA. Soooooo yea.
  14. So at 11.30 today I got an email that someone has changed the email of our account. Then they changed the phone number of the account. Is there a way to recover it aside from contacting support, since this route will take some time and we are afraid that they might be able to do more damage in the mean time. So to recap: - no access to email (changed email) - no access to 2fa (Phone number, and they have changed it) - password have been changed
  15. Since now that all my daily gadgets use Type-c charging I wanted to get a single charger that is compatible to charge all 3 (no need for simultaneous charging). However, I don't really know what spec to look for, for the charger to not damage the batteries of the devices I use. So what "wattage" or else should I be looking for? And if possible is there a recommendation for which one I should get? Thanks! My Devices: - Mac Air M1 - Samsung s10+ - Samsung Tab s6
  16. Yea its weird. Sometime it is there and sometime it isn't. Today it isn't here.
  17. So the usual download speed for Steam is 12mbps, but I don't know why but recently it dipped to 1mbps. Oddly, this only happens for Steam. Downloading using firefox and other applications are still normal at 12mbps, just Steam that is acting weird. Is there any trouble shooting method to find out what's happening? (Not CPU bottle necked, I kept an eye on it, shouldn't be the issue)
  18. Thanks, I might try it out soon need to do a bit more research but now I know that it is actually normal, I am a bit more calm.
  19. Do you mean the fan or the pump curve? Because for the pump, its at max (Extreme for corsair). For the fan I think is already decent because it basically kicks into 100% above 65C. I think it just might be limited because its a 240mm aio. But I don't know and just want to make sure I don't have a faulty CPU nor AIO.
  20. So I want to say that I do know that the 5800x is not a "cool" chip, but I don't think it is supposed to be this hot. It performs normally, but I'm just afraid of being too hot. It's not overclocked or anything, it runs completely stock. It idles (cpu usage around 3 - 5%) at 40C. CSGO at 74C max, 504 avg FPS (RTX 3070) tested with Ulletical's map Cinnebench R20 two runs in a row at 87C max (both at 87C), score of 5620. (kept a 4.4ghz boost all core) When testing I used the ultimate performance power profile (Including the idle temps above), real world I run the cpu between 25-100% So.. yea, is this normal? Specs: Ryzen 5800x (Thermal paste was using arctis mx4) Gigabyte b550m Pro Corsair h100i pro rgb xt (Fans using noctua nfa12x25, runs at 100% above 65C) Fractal meshify c mini (Intake fans is using Noctua 140mm industrial ppc fan 3000rpm)
  21. I am looking for an SSD for my game library. The capacity is between 500GB or 1TB depending on pricing, and my budget is around the price of a new 500GB samsung 970 evo plus (US$130). I don't have any preferences, so any will do! Thank you!
  22. So in where I live the 660p 1tb is priced the same with 970 evo plus 500gb. I am planning to use it as my frequently played game sotorage (BF V + 1, CSGO, Forza 4 arround ~350GB ish can grow or change), and scratch disks for my project (around 5GB). Which should I buy? Because the 660p is dram less and the read write speed is almost half the 970. The benefit I would assume I gain most is Forza 4 in changing cars will be far quicker, but aside from that I think there might be some diminishing return. Thank you before hand!
